Now I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes after listening to the most awesome rendition of "the dragonborn comes" I have ever heard. VoicePlay RULES!

Too bad he didn't. Oh well, in lore, the Dragonborn can level cities with Fus Ro Dah. I imagine the guys want to come out of the song alive, lol. Geoff is too strong.
Hello, TH-cam. I am here to start the petition to have VoicePlay arrange and perform an a capella cover of The Bells of Notre Dame from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame. That is all.
This has to be one of my favourite covers by voiceplay. I have not played Skyrim or has intentions to play Skyrim, but I will play this song again and again.
The Dragonborn Comes lyrics (with translation from Dovahzul - the Dragon language) Our hero, our hero, claims a warrior's heart I tell you, I tell you, the Dragonborn comes With a voice wielding power of the ancient nord arts Believe, believe, the Dragonborn comes It's an end to the evil of all Skyrim's foes Beware, beware, the Dragonborn comes For the darkness has passed, and the legend yet grows You'll know, you'll know, the Dragonborn's come Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin Naal ok zin los vahriin Wah dein vokul mahfaeraak ahst vaal Ahrk fin norok paal graan Fod nust hon zindro zaan Dovahkiin, fah hin kogaan mu draal (the translation from Dragon 🐉) Dragonborn, Dragonborn By his honor is sworn To keep evil forever at bay! And the fiercest foes rout When they hear triumph's shout, Dragonborn, for your blessing we pray! (Thanks to lyricstranslate) Fus ro dah! means Force balance push!
Don’t see malukah audio but I find Jeremy Soule audio of that song. We make sure that we are wearing our seatbelt because for Geoff going six ft deep for his bass.
@@deanmarion5477 Before VoicePlay I listened to Colm McGuiness Epic version of this song, but for me Geoff has overdone that with the epicness. And he sounds like a real dragon, or dragonborn. But Malukah is the author of the original, while her version is more of a lyric minstrel style.
@@jacklinka2347 Wait a second isn't this a song from the game that she covered? The only Skyrim-inspired original by her that I can think of is Vokul fen mah.
The choices of costumes totally fit each the members of VoicePlay, based on previous videos and such. Especially Eli as a Wizard, though they all fit really well.
An Imperial barbarian, a Dunmer battlemage, a Bosmer archer, a Breton necromancer, and a Nord Jarl hang out in the Palace of Kings ready to belt out a classic. Seriously gentlemen, you have outdone yourselves with this arrangement and performance. Skyrim means so much to so many of us and you have given this song beautiful new life. Thank you VP for all that you do.
I'm not sure there's a necromancer there. Eli appears to be reading an Elder Scroll - which would make him a member of the Order of the Ancestor Moth. ;)
@@shirleykarr560 Based on my limited knowledge of historical Viking fashion, Layne most likely the Nord Jarl. I'm guessing Cesar is the battlemage b/c of the chain mail? Very stylistically King Arthur. Eli would, of course, be the necromancer or a member of Order of the Ancestor Moth. Dude's wearing a cool monk robe, and his body type is more suited for magic than brutality, like Loki! I suppose that leaves Geoff as the barbarian, given the lack of costume yardage. I think their costumes are super cool! I love the various leather strap details that show up on the costumes! You can clearly see how the quiver and shoulder pads are attached to Omar, Geoff's own shoulder-pad thing [and super cool wrist guards!], the leather attachments on the robe and hood for Eli. Love the cape of Cesar! So stylish and swirly!, and a special shoutout to Layne's sword! How did they ever find one that's the right size?!
I've only been listening to Voiceplay for a couple months, But this has to be my new favorite musical arrangement I have ever heard. The very beginning with Geoff and Caesar is just georgous.😌
Skyrim has been near and dear to my heart for years now and it has maybe the most epic game soundtrack of all time. Having a VoicePlay cover of this gorgeous song is everything I didn't know I needed. The nostalgia is hitting me hard in the feels. This is now the definitive version of the song to me. And can I just say how much I deeply appreciate you fulling committing to the theme? The set, costuming, acting... just perfect. Thank you guys for treating this song with respect and elevating it to new and awesome heights!
I can't believe how well the facial paint was matched with the character creation tattoos - Just looking at the thumbnail made me drop my jaw from how accurate it is!
IMHO, all the epic parts of the soundtrack don't even rightly belong to Skyrim. Half of Skyrim's soundtrack is a remix from Morrowind. So what you're really praising is a game you may have never even played.
@@Nurk0m0rath Well okay, I guess I'm praising Jeremy Soule since he composed the music for all the Elder Scrolls games ;) This song just happens to be a personal favourite.
That's surprisingly easy to learn, tbh. All you need to do is kill the dragon terrorizing Whiterun, learn the word wall at bleak falls barrow, and you're 1/3 of the way there.
Geoff is the Dragonborn, the original. He was an idea that eventually became reality. Stories of his origins and legends give him power. He shares his powers with his most trusted followers. He summons his followers with his voice where they wait to do his bidding. Geoff enters the room looking at his loyal followers and friends and says: It's time, the legend must be told once again.
This scene takes place in Sovngarde, in the Hall of Valor, moments before the final battle with Alduin. The situation was so dire, Sovngarde deemed it necessary to bring in "Edhel-o i minei naur" or "Elf of the single fire." Omar, and his most trusted elvish companions. Together with the dragonborn and his Nordic allies, they would face Alduin here....and now.
Another possibility: They are a group of friends that grew up together revering stories of the dragonborn, so much so that they went to high Hrothgar to learn shouting from the Greybeards. This song happens when rumors of the dragonborn emerging reach their ears, and they are setting out to find and join the Dovakiin.
As a fan of both Skyrim and Voiceplay, here's some reasons why this is the BEST cover ever! - the smoky atmosphere - the colour-grading is just GORGEOUS - the costumes, armour, and set - I can't imagine how long everything must have taken wow - Geoff's vocals in the beginning (he never fails to be amazing) - the fact that the facepaint matches or is almost exactly the same as the Skyrim facepaint options - their elf ears! - 0:35 Cesar's smooooth vocals - the harmonies at 0:45, 1:21, 1:30, and 3:33 - 1:06 that bass thing dammmnn that was amazing (also happened at 1:24 and 1:58 along with Eli's high note - that was even better) - Eli's magical book (kinda jealous) - 1:51, 2:37, and 2:55 those high notes - 2:12 the mixing volumes are so gooood - their pronounciation of the dragon words are chef's kiss - 2:53 the slide into the harmonies - 2:56 Layne's beatboxing with the echo effect - 3:04 Geoff's arpeggios - I don't know how he managed to keep every note in tune - that was epic - 3:19 the FX shout effect - Omar's smooth vocals at 3:21, and the riffs at 3:23 and 4:11 - 4:14 probably my favourite ending yet - the drama is GORGEOUS!! I've listened to this multiple times already since it came out, this is for sure going into my "All Time Faves" music playlist!!
Interesting. I wonder why I have such a different reaction to this cover compared to most people. I agree that visually it's very high quality but if I had to judge just the audio... It seems to me like one of the weaker works of VoicePlay and probably the worst Dragonborn Comes cover I've heard. And I've heard a lot of them. I actually agree with every point you listed - it shows good techniques and it is well performed. But it's just trying too hard to be original and quirky that in the end it just ruins all of the important parts that normally make me feel something. They 100% could've made much better decisions about who sings which part. Please don't send me to the block 😅
@@Blackn3t I wholeheartedly disagree, but you opinion is valid. Not every Skyrim cover will suit every Skyrim fan. Different emotions are portrayed in every single cover, this one is more low-key and intricate than most. Perhaps you gravitate towards more epic, warrior versions of the cover, and this one just seemed like a lot of effort for not much result? As someone who has worked in music/vocals production this cover stood out to me for the amount of effort arranging, mixing and performing this piece. It's not as raw as you may like, but it has certainly struck a chord for many. Also in regards to it "trying to be original and quirky", I think you'll find that you will have the same reaction to all their covers. It's just the way they design their music layout. For me, this adds interest and a fresh take on a piece that sounds very similar for every cover. Not sending you to the block, and if you don't like this song, that's ok. Just two Skyrim fans sharing their opinions on the internet :)
@Pavel Hranáč @@loganbyrant Oh my god ! 2 different opinions, valid arguments, respect, acknowledgement, no insults, no cancelling, no screaming... what is happening ? The dragonborns really brought the best of peoples.
@@Blackn3t I generally agree -- I feel like VoicePlay intentionally went in a different direction than what I felt was the core style of the song just to be different (and to match their styles of voices). I still liked it in the end, but I can't call it "top" in terms of Dragonborn Comes renditions. Of course, the specific technical content is still fantastic as was noted above.
I get chills from every song they do ❤ I think they could give Peyton a run for his money ❤😂 I’ll play this song every time I play Skyrim now as I’ve played since it came out 😁the bass is just 😻😻
@@voldymodert5592 Geoff has said that he can’t do second subs and probably won’t ever be able to, so I’m inclined to believe it’s still a first sub unless he says otherwise somewhere :)
I’m running a D&D campaign and when I heard this I knew I had to play this as background music when my players got to a tavern! They ended up tipping the bards 150 gold lol.
The English bits were interesting, but I felt like the arrangement REALLY took off when they shifted to the conlang section! I'm not familiar at all with the game or the group, but those sections really soared for me, and had a unique beauty.
Pure delight!!! The "Fus Ro Dah!" was such a pleasant surprise and the icing on this perfect rendition of a beloved song. You made an old Skyrim gamer's day! ❤
It is a game that was very immersive, and its soundtrack led a lot of TH-cam artists to make covers of it. If you would like to hear more great covers of one of the best games of all time, just search Skyrim covers in the search bar, sit back....sip some tea/coffee and enjoy!
It's the fifth Elder Scrolls game. The soundtracks for Morrowind (3), Oblivion (4), and Skyrim (5) are all masterpieces and I highly recommend listening to them all. Theres even a Mashup called Morroblivirim that's fantastic.
I have had to play this a few times since yesterday when I found it for the first time. My husband asked me to play it over the big speaker to wake him up this morning. I feel like my soul has been uplifted since hearing this.
I’m a musician playing Japanese traditional instrument, I’ve never known and heard about these great voices and songs. I totally missed my life until last weekend! So amazing!!!
Screw that simple "Like" button, I want a full-fledged "love" emoji button to slam on. Mesmirizing! From the voices, to the set, the costuming and make up...OMFG! And, I don't even know who Omar Cardona is but, damn I think I'm in love now! What the ever-loving f@#k have you guys done to me...I'm hooked!!!!
I LOVE the mood of each voice - How Omar's voice sounds so sweet, innocent and brave; and Ely's voice, while singing the same note, sounds sneaky, evil almost, and "up to something."
One of my favorite parts about this is how everyone goes from singing wonderfully to almost march-strutting toward the camera at the end. Omar strikes me the most in that regard, having the final run. This group has always impressed me with their musical ability, but their physical performance in this is some of my favorite in any music video ever.
I've replayed this sooo many times (haven't we all!) and am just taking away the same things: Somehow Smaug's big brother was captured, bundled up and squished into human form. They decided to call him Geoff. Cesar's voice here is constructed of the finest plush velvet (which leads to a velvet-wrapped dragon on that line he shares with Smaug's bro. Omar took a big ol' chunk of vocal purity and mixed it with some elf power and baked a kick- butt voice that's too moreish for words. Eli is now wanted worldwide for murder, 'cos throughout this he was KILLING IT! Layne simply took his awesome and shenanned his way through. Tomorrow he's going to shenan again! (Sorry. :D ) @VoicePlay Seriously, guys, you have to stop this. I have stuff to do. I can't be here replaying non-stop like this!
Fucking hell...just when I thought someone couldn't do another Skyrim cover and actually make it more awesome...you guys come along. Good shit you all.
I have listen to this over and over again for several months now, the only criticism that I have it I wish it was longer. I have, since hearing this, listen to other renditions of this song...they are so not the same. This is magical.
This group is so superbly talented! My mind is "Blown"! They have such a wide range, not only vocally, but with the types of music that they do. If I was in their group, I'd be singing Baritone. I used to be a very high Tenor, but I dropped to the Baritone Position, back when I was in High School. That's been ever so long ago...back in the Late 1970s, and into the Early 1980s. God has blessed me with the ability to sing, and I love it!
I left a comment before. I was playing Skyrim and went to a cave and played your song when I invaded the cave. It was fantastic. I could feel I was warrior. Thank you.
I have loved this song since the first time I heard it on some guy's computer in a Village Inn and said "What the heck is THAT?!!"--and this is the Best. Version. Ever. A war-shout for sure! That dragon has no chance. I thought you couldn't outdo "My Mother Told Me" and then you dropped this and I have no words to describe how much I love the voices, the arranging, the production values, the costuming, the makeup, the props, the lights, the characterizations, the overarcing crescendo from beginning to end, the full-blooded harmonies...I would swear that there was an entire orchestra in this piece, which just goes to prove that truly great acappella RULES!!! Thank you, bless you, and keep up the EPIC work!!!
I've had this conversation playing in my mind since the Patron's livestream shoot: VoicePlay: Hey Omar, wanna do another video with us? Omar: Sure, sounds great. Omar: Wait, I have to be an elf.. and I have to sing in Dova-what? VoicePlay: No, no, it's fine. Eli's teaching a Dovahzul 101 class. You'll love it! Omar: Sigh...you guys are bizarre but I'm in!! Seriously though, as a long time gamer I've been watching & listening to this ad nauseum since it was released to Patrons. Epic beyond words!! You guys always go way beyond what anyone could expect with arrangements, production, lighting, costumes, make-up, just everything. Did Eli actually have his tongue dyed black because it sure looked like it? My only disappointment is that you can't really see Layne's blue hair; he was so rocking it in the livestream shoot. 😉❤
Literally i began playing skyrim just recently and damn, i just found out my former fav group brought this song out? 😂 I never realized bc when i followed u guys actively i didn't know skyrim yet... But now i do, and damn, great job!
As a patron who got to see it early, plus behind the scenes footage, I can only say that Cesar in chain mail doing the Single Ladies dance, and a bit of ballet, is a thing of wonder.
Great version, epic. At the same time light and dreamlike, and dark and gloomy. Just like a game of Skyrim. And great setup and reenactment. Really well done. Cheers from Denmark.
*Shudder* but in a good way. I didn't know what to expect, then comes this Thu'um, deep and cavernous, and there I was picked up by the costumes, the different singing methods. Well done
I am honestly crying. This soundtrack is one of the most epic ever made for a game and you guys just took it over the top!!!!! Keep going guys, never stop!!!
Can we just talk abt how everyone will impatiently wish for Omar to hopefully be a part of VoicePlay one day from now on for a sec? Like Geoff and Omar are two mind blowing vocal extremes, that just fit flawlessly, when put together. 😱😱🔥🔥🔥🔥
Epic!!! Epic!! My wife just recently performed in a huge choir with symphonic orchestra and THIS SONG was one of featured.. .it was a concert of movie and game music.
The harmonies, Geoff's bass, Eli's amazing high notes, the costumes and makeup, everything just brought chills all over my body! You guys never stop to amaze me and every song seems to get better and better. Geoff did an amazing job with the arrangement for this one and every single one of your voices were just awe inspiring. Now I feel an intense need to fire up Skyrim and start a few new playthrough where the characters all look like each one of you.
Goosebumps, all over man. I've played Skyrim so many times, and I have for literally a decade since I got it for Christmas in 2011. I use to grab my guitar and play this song over voice chat in ESO for my guild when we relaxed and chilled in Riften. My buddy and I use to goof off in Oblivion making dumb characters and we always got completely lost playing Morrowind, running into random places and getting destroyed instantly. I've recently been replaying all the other earlier games and I even started playing Blades. TES is my favorite video game series of all time, so this is a treat. I adore this.
I have listed to this about a hundred times by now, and I have to say, Omar's high voice adds a perfect balance to Geoff's low voice. I think the group above is a perfect balance and I would not want any of the members to leave! I realize Omar is not a member, but I wish he were.
Incredible! I knew from the first note that this would be one of my favorite covers. It is simply a work of art. Omar and Eli's voice... my God. Geoff... Holy Christ. YOU ARE SO TALENTED. Cesar, sublime. Layne... I still don't understand how he does all that, but he's great.
Oh...my god...I can't.....the characters, the cover, the scenery. This is next level, and quite possibly the greatest thing on TH-cam right now. For gamers and music lovers alike. 😭❤
All stunning, amazing. Because of course. Eli's face when he smiles, like at 3:20 and several other places - he's doing that "tiny & terrifying" thing again, like he did in My Mother Told Me. Also he's starting to sound like Earl in places. The - things- all of them can do with their voices (and whatever it is Layne does) just keep getting better, and the way they put it all together is some kind of alchemy. And their stuff from years ago was already awesome. So at this rate they'll ascend and be demigods before long. I just hope we can still hear them at that point. I've never gotten into Skyrim, but this video makes me want to.
How much better could it possibly get? A song from my favorite game (the score for Skyrim is probably the best game music score ever) sung by my favorite group! I love how they incorporated various musical themes (even instrumental themes) from the game.
Fun fact; they did a take where Geoff was included in the Fus Roh Dah but they couldn't use the take because the camera got sent halfway across Whiterun.

Heck, I've had Skyrim parties that big before, thanks to multiple-follower mods like EFF.
And yah, they really knocked this one out of the park! The Bards College could really learn a thing or two from these guys... 😁
They don't understand how important this is to the lore of the Elder Scrolls and Skyrim. This is beautiful in every possible way.
I'm not a gamer and I have no idea about anything from Skyrim, other than this is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard! I may not be a gamer, but I'm not a novice to otherworldly aesthetics.
Totally mesmerizing and honestly beautiful.
If geoff shouts "fus ro dah" im gonna lose it...!
Cant wait for this!!
Too bad he didn't.
Oh well, in lore, the Dragonborn can level cities with Fus Ro Dah. I imagine the guys want to come out of the song alive, lol. Geoff is too strong.
I think that would have created an actual dragon shout
@@viethoangle9252 I mean geoff did give us the voice of a dovah and true master of the way of the voice.
Hello, TH-cam. I am here to start the petition to have VoicePlay arrange and perform an a capella cover of The Bells of Notre Dame from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame. That is all.
Hell yes
Petition absolutely agreed with.
YES!!!!!!!!!
That would be INSANE
Yes, yes, an endless amount of times YES.
This has to be one of my favourite covers by voiceplay. I have not played Skyrim or has intentions to play Skyrim, but I will play this song again and again.
You’re truly missing out my dude, you should play it. Even today it’s hands down one of the best single player games out there
Geoff's voice has the power of the ancient Nord arts, that's for sure
The Dragonborn Comes lyrics (with translation from Dovahzul - the Dragon language)
Our hero, our hero, claims a warrior's heart
I tell you, I tell you, the Dragonborn comes
With a voice wielding power of the ancient nord arts
Believe, believe, the Dragonborn comes
It's an end to the evil of all Skyrim's foes
Beware, beware, the Dragonborn comes
For the darkness has passed, and the legend yet grows
You'll know, you'll know, the Dragonborn's come

By his honor is sworn
To keep evil forever at bay!
And the fiercest foes rout
When they hear triumph's shout,
Dragonborn, for your blessing we pray!

Fus ro dah! means Force balance push!
@@jacklinka2347: thanks a lot.
@@jacklinka2347 Wait a second isn't this a song from the game that she covered? The only Skyrim-inspired original by her that I can think of is Vokul fen mah.
@@Tymdek You are right, google content got me mistaken, The Dragonborn Comes is her cover, not the original.
I'm not familiar with the game. I'm guessing Omar is the archer. Which character is Geoff, Layne, Eli, and Cesar?
@@shirleykarr560 I was going left to right based on how they stand in the video!
@@cynthiaross9438 I can see that but to me it looked like a regular spell scroll, the Elder Scrolls are way more ornate
*I can't **_believe_** Geoff can sustain that note that long in the beginning!* 😳😮🙀😻
I refer to it as "didgeridoo mode" (can't claim credit for that, but it fits)
I've only been listening to Voiceplay for a couple months, But this has to be my new favorite musical arrangement I have ever heard. The very beginning with Geoff and Caesar is just georgous.😌
Amazing arrangement. I cannot wait to hear The Charismatic Voice geek out over Geoff's arpeggios.
And she just did. :-P
@@RamblinPhoenix OK, trotting right over to her page now...
Elizabeth geeked out in style with costume, make up and all. She's into Cosplay so, we would expect nothing less from her. :)
I may have gif-ed a few of Elizabeth's facial reactions to Geoff.
Glad to see im not the only one that likes hearing her reactions to voiceplay
I got chills when I got the notification it’s been my favourite game of all time now and I got so excited to see they made a cover of it
This got me wanting to make a new playthrough when I heard it tonight. Definitely on my to-do list to start this week!
Is it just me or does Geoff Castelluci’s voice reverberate through you when he’s just vocalizing?
Not just you! I get chills every time!
@@rebekahhill4955 I do every time as well.
I mean he is a subwoofer
@@doobiedoobenson1194 Lol nah, it's pretty rare for a man to be able to vocalize subharmonics like that and it also takes training.
That's surprisingly easy to learn, tbh. All you need to do is kill the dragon terrorizing Whiterun, learn the word wall at bleak falls barrow, and you're 1/3 of the way there.
I submit this to the internet as the best opening 15 seconds of any video ever.
I cannot get over how good that note is. good grief.
I'm loving the bass singer. It's almost throat singing but it's just his voice. So much love
That's Geoff Castellucci, he also has a solo channel. :)
Sure seemed that way to me!
Do you see Voiceplay going heavy medal and give them your heavy metal songs request.

As a fan of both Skyrim and Voiceplay, here's some reasons why this is the BEST cover ever!
- the smoky atmosphere
- the colour-grading is just GORGEOUS
- the costumes, armour, and set - I can't imagine how long everything must have taken wow
- Geoff's vocals in the beginning (he never fails to be amazing)
- the fact that the facepaint matches or is almost exactly the same as the Skyrim facepaint options
- their elf ears!
- 0:35 Cesar's smooooth vocals
- the harmonies at 0:45, 1:21, 1:30, and 3:33
- 1:06 that bass thing dammmnn that was amazing (also happened at 1:24 and 1:58 along with Eli's high note - that was even better)
- Eli's magical book (kinda jealous)
- 1:51, 2:37, and 2:55 those high notes
- 2:12 the mixing volumes are so gooood
- their pronounciation of the dragon words are chef's kiss
- 2:53 the slide into the harmonies
- 2:56 Layne's beatboxing with the echo effect
- 3:04 Geoff's arpeggios - I don't know how he managed to keep every note in tune - that was epic
- 3:19 the FX shout effect
- Omar's smooth vocals at 3:21, and the riffs at 3:23 and 4:11
- 4:14 probably my favourite ending yet - the drama is GORGEOUS!!

It's missing just one thing...
An arrow to the knee.

They just get better and better with every video they produce. Waiting to hear the reactions to this one. :) Omar and Cesar really suit those ears!
They'll be epic!!!!
Omar & Cesar make the cutest elves. 😊
One of my favorite parts about this is how everyone goes from singing wonderfully to almost march-strutting toward the camera at the end. Omar strikes me the most in that regard, having the final run. This group has always impressed me with their musical ability, but their physical performance in this is some of my favorite in any music video ever.
I've replayed this sooo many times (haven't we all!) and am just taking away the same things:
Somehow Smaug's big brother was captured, bundled up and squished into human form.
(Sorry. :D )
@VoicePlay Seriously, guys, you have to stop this. I have stuff to do. I can't be here replaying non-stop like this!

I can't even believe that there are THAT talented people in the world, I'll listen to it every single day of my life
This group is so superbly talented!
I've had this conversation playing in my mind since the Patron's livestream shoot:
VoicePlay: Hey Omar, wanna do another video with us?
I'm thinking that anyone who's worked with them once knows better than to go in with any expectation of normalcy. ;)

Eli's entrance at 1:12 makes me shiver. His high notes are amazingly clear... Love his rock voice to death, but this is something else... 🥰
This is so great!! Omar is so wonderful. They mention something a dragon after he sang on the Voice. Now I know what they were talking about.
