Sims 2 was my fondest memory. Staying up all night until the light came in, eating pizza and snacks throughout, and actually being able to save without a crash lol. I still prefer sims 3 and play it all the time but sims 2 just hit different.
I found this mod/launcher from a other video. The zodiac update they added where you can disconnect zodiac signs from the personality points really intreaced me. Also you mentioning all the other stuff like random baby stuff.. just sounds so good. -Seeing people having some problems even though they tried this. There is many videos out there helping you to fix ur sims 2 but 1 fix i rarely see people mention is the windows standby memory leak fix. I have only seen 1 or 2 people ever mention it in their video. - Basicly windows has had this thing where it dosent remove standby memory and they have never fixed it AND sims 2 for some reason leaks into the standby memory.. so when ur used up in standby memory ur game will crash. Her fix helped me ALOT with my problems of this game also just in general it removes the standby windows memory for other things aswell so overall a good thing to have on ur pc. the video is titeled: How to Stop Sims 2 Crashing (Memory Allocation Fix and 4GB Patch Repair) and the thumpnail has a rainbow on it.
We had HQ greenery and other neighborhood details but we never had better house lots LODs etc because it was kinda complicated to replace. I talked about this years ago how it can be done to write a override code etc and I am surprised no one picked up on it and done this before. I would do this on my own back then but I quit TS2 and been busy with other things. Now with this I can have a better motivation to go back to Sims and not just watch others play and not bother to make a mod for it. GJ and hope to see continuous effort from the actual active community because TS2 sure deserve it.

Those pixelated lot imposters are probably the only thing that bother me about this game, but I was quite apprehensive about this mod injecting files, being recognised as a Trojan by anti viruses and so on. But I gave it a go anyway. The lot imposters started to look much better, but they're still pixelated and it's like... because they're different I start to pay attention to them more? Whereas I would just ignore the Maxis ones because I got used to them. But anyway, the biggest issue was that the game became an absolute pink soup mess after I had 'converted' a couple of lots, to the point that it would crash entirely when trying to load the family/lot again. Maybe it wasn't this mod's fault per se but I had to back up my saves to make it work again. So I just want to stress how important it is to always back up your files when experimenting with new mods and stuff. Anyway, glad to see it works for you!
My only worry is that i've seen that lot imposters can contribute to crashing and pink flashing errors because it's a lot of extra things for the game to load especially if you switch lots a lot. Another sims 2 TH-camr found turning off lot imposters massively helped crashing.
you said something at 8:22 that i couldn't make out. do you have to go through every lot individually to get the lot impostors to appear higher quality?
I tried this and even on optimized settings it's crashing when loading lots where lots of custom content is used. I'm guessing this mod plus high poly count models do not mix. Thankfully I backed up my exe and was able to get rid of it.
Replacement trees and high poly cc tend to be the main problems. I had lindens replacement trees and had terrible trouble with pink soup and crashing when I removed it was so much better
I'm not sure whats going on but I think origin killed my game, no matter what computer I install it on, windows 7 and 10 It always crashes at the menu or loading into towns, i tried to use the rpc and that just gives me pink textures, im not sure what they did when it worked fine a month or so ago...
Does anyone know if it’s possible to correct and match the shadow/sun position difference from the lot and neighborhood view? For some odd reason, the game has always shown it oppositely in neighborhood view. It’s always bugged me.

I tried it with the four gig by update I tried it with an update I got from EA and I also tried to install Lacey Duchess and I can’t do it I am distraught because I have been playing the Sims since 2000 and have the whole collection of the Sims two and I can’t install it. This might be a different person but there was a Lazy Dutchess named person in the Sims scene from way back and by now she sould be around 34-37.

Sims 3 is an awesome game! And I think it’s that fondness that makes me still play 2!!
I prefer the sims 3 to the sims 4 that drives me bonkers! But I miss the sims 2 so much but just can’t install it !

It also crashes for me after a few lots. However, it’s much better if I use the new updated “optimised” setting. Maybe try that!

Hello! Sorry I was not clear enough! But yeah! You have to go onto each lot, move something from build / buy and then once it’s saved it will update x

A couple years into the future here, Nov 2024, and I can't get the launcher to work. It wants a non cracked version. I'ma give up! I'm so frustrated.

The only problem I have is that when I try to launch the RPC it keeps telling me that I'm running the wrong version of the game.
