Interesting fact, our foreheads tend to be actually 1/3 of our face. It just doesn't seem like it because our eyes are drawn towards the facial features that we see as more interesting, like eyes and lips. Belladonna Cove does have a thing with tiny pointy noses, the Cleveland family (which is related to Geoff Rutherford) comes to mind too. In Gabriel Green's case, at least his roommate Chastity has really good genes in my opinion.
Yes she got good genes. In my game Gabriel and Chastity had two daughters that looked like Gabriel... I had to use plastic surgery for them to make them less ugly
I had a very weird-looking daughter come from the Travellers. She's currently an adult in my neighborhood and is about to have a child (or two) with one of the Bon Voyage locals, Pong Grundstrom, as the father, so I'm looking forward to a big laugh when that child hits toddler. Ha!
I feel like SOME differences between male face templates and their corresponding female templates are a bit too large. In the case of noses and lips - often a male sim with delicate, slightly effeminate features will get daughters that look like caricatures while a female sim with harsher or bigger features will have a son whose features are absolutely HUGE. I'd like to fix this but so far, I haven't found mods that would save any of the premade sims from this curse.
I actually like the long foreheads and long noses in the sims 2. It's more realistic. I wish the sims 4 let us do that but you can only move the features around so much (like you can't really make a long nose and long forehead at the same time, etc). The sims 2 sims look much better imo.
I agree. Sims 3 and 4 use more cartoonish proportions. Humans actually do have foreheads take up about 1/3 of the face, so Sims 2 looks more realistic.
I love Arlo ♥ He's one of the Sims that were created as kids and never checked what they look like as adults or even teens. And the devs never learned from that mistake because actually The Sims 4 has the most cases of that among pre-made children and toddlers...
I blame him for staying away from Ethan. I thought Ethan is the one who got messed up face 😢. Imagine the shock when I play sunset valley with story progression mod seeing Arlo's face when he aged up 😱
Honestly, it doesn’t matter what template he uses, George always gives my Sims some beautiful kids and I literally only keep the Pleasantview Townies in my custom hoods so I can marry him into one of the families.
A positive thing about The Sims 4 genetic is that until you try to made children with two sim with extreme features (like an anime girl with a superchad) the game generally mix mix the facial features and tone down eventual weird propotions. The only time when I started to have funny looking Sims was when in my main savefile I started to marry cousins and some of my families started to have petit habsburg chin, but this is for another story 🤣
Habsburg chin is a known issue in TS4 :D Well, when you wilfully make two Sims with a high and low face, the disproportions will show very much, but the difference has to be extreme. In TS2 you only need a tiny tweak to get weird babies.
The Ottomas children in my game look pretty cursed but hey, it makes for a more interesting town gene pool lmao. Edit: had to give the twins facial reconstruction surgery bc their noses were too close to their mouths. One had a very low nose, the other had a really high mouth.
at 3:20, actually the maxis preset foreheads arent too large. rule of thirds, their forehead is proportional. peter ottomas' forehead is wayyy too small. but in the sims 2, sims have very long and narrow faces (and its actually very hard to give a sim a "wide" face) which makes the forehead look too big. the proportions are right, but everything is just stuck too skinny lol. take a look at the preset and edit the whole thing to be shorter/wider, you'll see that the forehead isnt the problem
Omg , I made my sim have a child with Malcolm Landgraab IV, they had a daughter and when she aged up into a toddler, she had Malcolm’s face but her side profile was literally smushed in. Nothing but the chin poked out 😭😭🥴🥴
this might sound weird but changing a premade sim's gender in simpe can reveal a lot of these...face problems. their faces "work" for one sex but won't for another, and vice versa. when i changed gabriel green's gender i was literally a bit taken aback at what greeted me when i loaded the game, for instance. the sims that will probably have okay looking kids are the sims that look good as either sex - don lothario looks okay as a man and a woman and his genetics seem okay too? idk that's what i've noticed
10:01 What do you mean, it's a regular Pixar/Disney nose. Which means it should keep defining beauty standards in real life. Let's all strive to genetically have this nose
Me too, in my game Dina had a beautiful girl first with Don but made everyone believe it was Mortimers. Then she got with Malcolm. He needed a heir and they got a boy. He looked exactly like Dina, thank God lol. So the ugly genes got away
does anyone else find that when they blend the genetics of two sims in CAS the kids look weird but when the same couple have a child in game it ends up looking fine? this happens to me all the time and i have no idea why
Maybe because there is a chance that a kid will get 100% of appearance from one parent in-game, therefore a kid will look normal? Like, having a full template after one parent and colours after the other! Just a theory though
I think the animation and lighting softens their features a little when you're playing. I've had several CAS sims who look better in-game than I thought they would.
I love to pair ugly Sims with pretty Sims. So the very ugly genes slowly fade away generation by generation, and Sims won't look perfect either. Like in Pleasantview, so many Sims have the perfect face... Don, Brandi, John, Jennifer, Lucy, Daniel, Mortimer... It's annoying. That's why mixing then up makes it way more interesting
I once paired up Kimberly Cordial and Florence Delarosa. They are both beautiful ladies, so their children should look at least decent, right? Wrong! Their daughter turned out so weird looking, with really short nose and weird eyes, so when they wanted another child I just made them adopt lol On the other hand, Malcolm Landgraab and Nervous Subject once made really cute looking twins, which was very surprising. I love sims 2 genetics so much
I used genetically correct replacements for my Pleasantview premades and I'm so glad I did 😅 Cassandra and Alexander's original faces make absolutely no sense, I was surprised to find out that was also the case with Pleasant sisters
Been playing an uberhood of all the Life Stories neighborhoods. I've noticed a lot of the sims have high faces and it made me think about this video again 😂
Fun fact, the distance between the top of your head and your eyes, is roughly the same distance as your eyes to your chin. Having a forehead be over a third of your face is actually very on point. The thing that makes sims in 2 look strange and stylized is actually that their faces tend to be relatively flat. The curve often obscures just how large foreheads tend to be. That said, I am fine with sims not looking like humans because... They aren't humans, and at least in 2 aren't supposed to be.
The real problem with Gabriel Green is that his features are so masculine that they look terrible on female Sims. So if he has children, keep your fingers crossed that most of the facial features they inherit are from whoever Gabriel has children with.
I was pleasantly surprised by pre-made townie La Shawn Cameron, four out of her six children ended up absolutely gorgeous. The remaining two had some interesting features and weren't bad looking, but each had one feature that shoved them into a rather plain look.
imo the game wouldn't be the same with proportional sims only. i love the thrill of not knowing if i get a kid who looks like hamster, a horse or the prettiest sim i've ever had in my game

i have always been obsessed w sims genetics so i love these case studies!! also your accent
6:00 the lady's eyes are higher then Peter's eyes
Maybe that's why?
I lucked out and got two cute kids from Malcolm and Dina.
Me too, in my game Dina had a beautiful girl first with Don but made everyone believe it was Mortimers. Then she got with Malcolm. He needed a heir and they got a boy. He looked exactly like Dina, thank God lol. So the ugly genes got away
As a person with a certified five-head, The Sims 2 is the representation I need and deserve 😭
Loki Beaker's genetics aren't actually that bad if the kid doesn't get his eyebrows. I have screenshots of his and Circe's son in my game to prove it.
Same, they had a daughter in my game and she was pretty cute
Despite these weird quirks the Sims don't ever really stop being pretty and/or intriguing to look at.
does anyone else find that when they blend the genetics of two sims in CAS the kids look weird but when the same couple have a child in game it ends up looking fine? this happens to me all the time and i have no idea why
Very weird, CAS genetics are the same as gameplay genetics
Wrong! Their daughter turned out so weird looking, with really short nose and weird eyes, so when they wanted another child I just made them adopt lol
On the other hand, Malcolm Landgraab and Nervous Subject once made really cute looking twins, which was very surprising. I love sims 2 genetics so much
How did you have children with same sex couples? Did you use a mod?
@@baileymejia yeah, I use Midgethetree's RCC mod
@@baileymejia You can use the tombstone of life and death
I used genetically correct replacements for my Pleasantview premades and I'm so glad I did 😅 Cassandra and Alexander's original faces make absolutely no sense, I was surprised to find out that was also the case with Pleasant sisters
**The nose is a deadly weapon**
Malcolm giving me vibes of Jermyn family from Lovecraftian story "Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and His Family"
Idk how I got lucky with Malcolm because my daughter with him looks so pretty 😦😦😦
Who is the mother?
@@diahreea2022 I sim I made with one of the pre-made faces
Oh so this is why my sims always turned out more alien than human after a few generations! I ended up remaking the Ottomas kids in SimPE, haha
Been playing an uberhood of all the Life Stories neighborhoods. I've noticed a lot of the sims have high faces and it made me think about this video again 😂
OMG genetics, English (I'm Venezuelan), and the Sims 2 in the same video. Is this a dream or is it just fantasy? Subscribed.
6:29 his kid looks like Bella from sims 2 🤣 it’s pretty much because of the hair but still...
Male Angela’s nose kind of reminded my of resident of whoville, I think it is called? From the grinch.
LOL
There's a premade butler in the sims 3 called bertram plunkett and if you have kids with him they'll look like craig revel horwood
I had Brandi Broke and Malcolm marry and their son came out looking like George Lopez
whaaat? Loki is such a handsome daddy like... i don't get it
Sofia Baldwin got the good genes, at least in my game. She is very pretty. Etsu Cho also has good genes and has grown up quite cute.
Well yeah, that was kind of my point
Crying in Malcolm's language in the minute I saw the title of the video😂😂😂
Good thing I checked this vid before having kids from Pleasent twins lol
My gasp when you said Morty Roth...not my sim breaking up his marriage and has a baby with him AHH
Angela's sons might be lucky there. You know what they say about men with big noses lol
I mean at that point he can use the nose as a substitute 💀
I once paired Malcolm with the Larson girl and had the ugliest children
Martin Reuben’s kids all have crazy big elf ears 😂
Same with Joshua, they both have the broken face template.
my forehead is 1/3 of my face, so it is realistik
Why does Malcolm Landgraab lowkey look like Onision?
You just motivated me to created a species of difformed Sims
I was pleasantly surprised by pre-made townie La Shawn Cameron, four out of her six children ended up absolutely gorgeous. The remaining two had some interesting features and weren't bad looking, but each had one feature that shoved them into a rather plain look.
