    An excellent and SIMPLE suggestion on losing weight. Unfortunately a lot of us, due to physical disabilities, can't run. Now, at 70 and handicapped I've managed to shed 43 pounds since last summer by exercising 15 minutes twice daily, every day. I have not missed a workout since last August. I try and watch foods I consume, cut out junk foods and use 1/2 pound weights in my workout. Nothing strenuous.
    I have eye, shoulder and leg issues from a 2014 accident. I try and walk at least a half mile (daily) as frequently as possible. Sad to say running is impossible for me. Used to be hot stuff in the 1970's. I ran in the 1978 NYC Marathon, now I can't even run for a bus. Diet is very important and you're correct. Losing weight is a matter of burning more calories than you consume. It takes motivation and it ain't rocket science, fuhgeddaboudit.

    Great advice, definitely no magic pill. I lost 45 lbs. with running about 2 years ago, I have kept 35 of it off. I still run but the diet has slipped a little. Very inspiring to hear honesty in the area of running and weight loss. Now to drop those 10 lbs.

    That was good! I just started running and needed to to hear it takes time! I really like running and that scale not moving makes me feel like I’m not doing a thing even though my clothes are getting looser.

    44 years running, advice not to get obsessed with losing weight. Focus on the physical exercise you have chosen. Have a plan and be patient, consistent and disciplined with yourself. The results will come.

    Cool video. I'm also interested in ultras and need to loose some weight to make doing one realistic. Towards the middle you mentioned something about taking a month to start seeing results (get the engine burning) - can you elaborate on that a little?

    • @motivationtheoryrunning
      @motivationtheoryrunning  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      To lose a pound you have to burn 3600 calories roughly, for me it seems I always had to work up to exercising for an hour or more several times a week for about a month to really see results...this really depends on where someone is starting from....

    So being a teen and already an athlete, how do I lose about 10 pounds fast in a couple weeks?

    • @motivationtheoryrunning
      @motivationtheoryrunning  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That may be hard and not advisable over 2 weeks. It really depends on how much excess you have to lose ...the advisable and safe amount would be 1 to 3 pounds a week. It would take finding out your BMR so you know how many calories your body needs each day, watching your caloric intake and slightly dropping intake and adding in exercise each day that would burn 250 to 500 calories. I would advice eating healthy and being active every day, be happy with who you are and be happy!💪

    Do you have any body weight strength training exercises advice? You know, like exercises you can do at home when you can't go to the gym. Always good to combine strength training and running. Great content as usual. 👊🏻👣
