    lore shit ignore if dont care:
    So the Samurai center of the video (Yasuo) is Yone's younger brother, he was always reckless and impulsive while his older brother was more responsable, but he was also more talented than yone.
    The flashback he says "you got nothing to prove" it´s because Yone was already accepted in the temple that teachs the way of the blade and he didnt yet.
    The place where everything is happening is called "Ionia", its a kind of "asian inspired" place in the Leagues world, and being so there is a lot of ninjas, yokais, samurais, spirits, etc... There is one day each year in ionia where the spirit realm and the mortal realm get really close, close enough for the living to speak with the dead through flowers, this day is like an event called "spirit blossom", people go to certain places in ionia to gather this special flowers that can have the spirit of a loved one inside (when they blossom you can talk to them).
    Yone was killed by yasuo during an invasion where yasuo's duty was to protect the master of the temple while the other warriors fought the invaders (noxians), but yasuo thought that he should be in the fight, so he left the master and killed a bunch of noxians in some villages. When he got back the master was dead, everyone put the blame on him and he ran away to not get killed. Yone was after him and when he found him they fought and, as the cinematic shows, yasuo killed him.
    In the spirit realm there are spirits (duh) and Demons called "Azakana", the azakanas feed on negative emotions, they are like parasites (that old man was an azakana feeding of yasuo's guilt), when Yone died he didnt follow the right path and he ended up a place where one azakana appeared and tried to kill him or somthing, he managed to kill the azakan but in it's last attempt to live it leachs out into yone's body (the mask red mask is the face of that azakana).
    Because of this, yone cant rest his soul and is trapped between the realms, (but not even him knows how he could be amongst the living as he is, so he is basically hunting more azakanas to try to discover)

      The other reason why people were hunting down Yasuo because they figured out the master was killed by a wind technique. People in Ionia only know the master and Yasuo use that wind technique, but riven(Noxian) killed the master with her own wind technique in accident. That’s why Yasuo says he’s not a murderer.

    • @LuizFelipeGoncalves
      @LuizFelipeGoncalves 3 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Yassuo didn't run because he didn't want to die. He would accept his sentence if he was only accused of living his place, and be the reason of the death of his master. The problem was that he was accused of being the murderer, if he accepted his execution the REAL murderer wold never be founded. So he decided to run to find the real murderer (what did not work, sense his master kill himself trying to help Riven)

    Remember the cinematic that you reacted called AWAKEN? So Yasuo was in there right? Based on the lore/story, he was not supposed to be there. Even in this cinematic his brother warned him to stay. Yasuo was supposed to be protecting Elder Souma, an elder who teaches him wind techniques (that's why Yasuo can make tornadoes). But Yasuo insist on fighting to defend Ionia (the "country" where the war takes place). This leads to the death of Elder Souma because a certain girl accidently killed him. Wanna know who? On the same AWAKEN cinematic, remember the girl who was fighting multiple man with a sword in an arena, her name is Riven, she was the one who killed Elder Souma, but not on purpose. However, Yasuo was accused of killing him because there was no witness and everybody expected him to be with Elder Souma so of course they thought he was the killer. Which is why Yasuo become a wanted man on Ionia. He had to kill his friends because it was "killed or be killed". In the end he faced his own brother as you can see in this cinematic. Ultimately he killed Yone, his own brother. There was another cinematic that "somewhat" show how his brother got revived back but anyway, his brother got back and then this cinematic happen. End of story

    Very small detail, but something I love. When Yasuo looks at his reflection for the first time, you can see the sword is stained and dirty, just like Yasuo's self image. When he goes into the river, he doesn't only cleanse himself, you can actually see the dirt coming of off his blade as well (the dark stuff at 30.09). At the end when Yasuo is on the boat, you can see him looking at his reflection again, this team with a clean sword and a clean self image

    I like how, when they were kids, they have an argument in land that was lively and bright. When they were young adults, at 32:40, it's evening and they're in a building, sparring/practice fighting. Finally, when they're men, they fight full-out in the dead land that was once beautiful, as well as in the night. Not only shows the passage of time, but shows that, perhaps, they were destined to fight all along.

    Since you seem to enjoy it, here's some Lore for you, Chris (and anyone else interested )! I'll keep it short because I could gush on about this for pages- literally!
    The main characters featured in this cinematic where Yasuo, Yone and the Azakana Kuro'Sagol. Azakana are lesser demons that feed on negative emotions. After they've fed enough, they're able to become real demons.
    When Yasuo and Yone were children, the two were inseparable, and when Yone joined the village's famed sword school, Yasuo followed him and refused to leave until they let him join as well. He was taken on as the pupil of Elder Soma, the school's sole master of their legendary wind technique. Years later, when Noxus invaded Ionia, Yone and other members of the school left to aid in the war. Yasuo wished to join them but was ordered to stay behind and protect the elders. When a Noxian warhost made it's way to a neighboring village, Yasuo left his post to defeat them. When he returned, he found Elder Soma dead. He was slain by a wind technique. The village blamed Yasuo for this, most believing he had killed the elder himself. He left the village to clear his name and the village sent it's best swordsmen to "bring him to justice". Yasuo kept fleeing, cutting them down until he eventually found his brother at the end of his blade. He killed him, and in doing so spiraled into a pit of despair and depression.
    Filled with rage and regret, Yone was attacked by an Azakana soon after arrival in the spirit planes. This Azakana had been following him for quite some time, feeding on the negative emotions he experienced has he tracked Yasuo. Yone believed Yasuo's actions were a result of him straying off the proper path, a path he failed to properly lead him on as his older brother. The Azakana intended to devour him before he could find peace and reach the resting place of souls, but Yone defeated it. When he woke up, he found himself in the physical world with the Azakana's face as a mask affixed to his face. In time, Yone found if could learn the name of Azakana, he could seal them in masks (we saw him wearing them on his belt). So he set about hunting Azakana, hoping to eventually learn the name of his own. Yasuo on the other hand completely fell off the Wagon after killing Yone, hunted by it every waken moment. Which he solved by drinking and generally not being awake very often. To make a long arch short, Yasuo eventually recovered after mentoring a pupil of his own (and earth user, funnily enough), and in doing do learnt to respect his fallen mentor. When she left, he set about finding the true killer once again. His search eventually lead him back to his village. There, he had hoped to find revenge, but there he found Riven, living in secret on a farm with an old man and his wife.
    When master Soma had attempted to repair Riven's broken wind blade, it exploded, killing him the processes. Riven had felt intense remorse over this and lived in secret with the guilt every day. The village saw this and was able to forgive her. Despite clearing his name, Yasuo was unable to find his revenge. In the end, his brother had died by his hands for nothing. Yasuo eventually wandered to the Spirit blossom festival, a sacred event where the living are able to communicate with the dead, and that's more or less where the story begins.
    I omitted so many details to keep this concise and readable! Yasuo's sad relationship with the village, how he and Yone's relationship eventually become strained despite their love for each other, Taliya, the student he mentored, Riven's past and how she eventually found her way the village, Yone's refusal to face his past after waking up in the physical realm- there's so much to dig into!

    34:00 Yasuo's protecting the "demon" because he doesn't "look" like a Demon to Yasuo. Humans can't see Demons, they see glamour/what the Demon wants the person they're attaching themselves to, to see. After Yasuo consumes the drink that binds the two realms (the physical world & the spirit world), the cinematic is showing us Yone's perspective of the fight thereafter -- (this is Yone's champion reveal teaser cinematic, not Yasuo's). Yasuo probably just sees an old man giving him a hallucinogenic concoction that made him dizzy. He's never done it before, so he's probably hesitant to assume anything is wrong -- he is after all, only doing it to SPEAK TO THE DEAD (not normal lol).
    Yone can SEE Demons because of the one infused in the mask stuck on his face; It is only after Yone & the Demon converse, & Yone says the familiar to Yasuo line, "Better than to live without it." does Yasuo realize the specter (Yone) means no harm for no reason at all -- He trusts his brother, he doesn't have ill feelings towards his brother & he didn't MEAN to kill him (Yasuo's lore), he killed Yone (& everyone else chasing after him thinking HE killed their master), in self-defense, so he trusts that the entity Yone is attacking (the Demon) is actually the problem. & then, of course, the Demon starts speaking about events he wouldn't of have known about unless he was there, probably signaling to Yasuo that the old man isn't who he appears to be

      @insert_happy_face7785 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Luna LeViege Don't get me wrong, but when Yasuo looked back at the demon, the only thing he saw was an old man with a massive hat covering his face and a red thing trying to kill it. But you are mostly right

    • @insert_happy_face7785
      @insert_happy_face7785 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Al Gonzalez He was killed by the Wind Technique, and there were only 2 persons that could control it: Yasuo and his master. When Yasuo left his master guardless, Riven came to Yasuo's master and asked him if he could destroy the blade she was holding in her hands*. But something somehow went wrong and when the blade was destroyed, one of its pieces was now in the masters throat, which ended up killing him.

    Yasuo kills Yone, even though Yone was an honorable fighter who trained every day to wield the blade Yasuo has. Yasuo, even though he goofed around and was hot headed was naturally great with the sword and bested his brother and earned the right to use his 'ability' to use the wind.
    Yasuo was accused of killing their master which obviously makes him a target but Yasuo goes to find the killer but his brother gave chase and ultimately was killed by Yasuo. Watch "The Path" to see what happened to Yone, it's a great little cinematic as well.
    But Yasuo eventually succumbs to his guilt and becomes an alcoholic and a bum as seen when he wakes up in this.

    There is more to the sword reflection than what you said. The sword is bloodstained the first time he looks at himself showing us an unclear image of him. Then he washed the blood in the river and at the very end when we see him in the boat he looks at his reflection again but it is crystal clear this time. This was used to show the progression of his character throughout the cinematic. Having doubts about himself and many regrets about his past at the beginning but by the end all of that has been cleared. That was really awesome

  • @animagamer2
    @animagamer2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    My third comment, but I'm really passionate okay!
    A couple of things I think you missed: the fade to black was, imo, actually pretty clever! It's not just a typical fade to black (Which, nothing wrong with that, especially if it's done properly like you said), but they fade on the sound and action of Yasuo sheeting his sword. Since we were viewing the world through his reflection in his blade, him sheeting his sword and plunging that wold into darkness is a really neat way to fade to black I think.
    Another thing: We could see when he woke up that Yasuo's sword was covered in blood. And the reflection we saw of him was stained by it. Now, obviously, since it's likely been years since Yone died, this is not his blood (It's not difficult for Yasuo to get blood on his blade though, "Death is like the wind. Always by my side"- a quote from him in-game), but combined with the next scene and him waking up with their final battle on his mind, it's clearly symbolic. And when he's in the river we'le, we can see the blood washing away from his blade.
    As to why Yasuo defends the azakana, he likely- at that point, could not tell it was a demon. It's not easy for humans to recognize demons. Yone, having died and being able to access the spirit realm has no problem seeing them though.
    And one final cool thing: When Yasuo's on the ship and talking to Yasuo, he looks at his blade and clearly sees his reflection in his clean blade. Love the symbolism!

    The "bringing your blade next to eye level" is a defensive stance that enables you to defend high and present the point of the blade to the opponent (threaten to stab, basically). That's the idea. Similar to when you hold the blade in the same spot vertically, which is a bit better for defending the whole body and can switch to a strike very quickly.

    The festival you saw a few minutes in was the Spirit Blossom Festival. A festival where the people of Ionai celebrate the dead and can talk to those they have lost once more. That's what the old man meant when he asked Yasuo if he was "looking to commune". Spirit Blossom are magical flowers that can hold to the soul of the dead. If you want to talk to someone you know you first have to find the Blossom that hold his/her soul and then drink the Spirit Tea.
    Yasuo here was looking to talk to his brother one last time. Since he killed Yone during the war and this is the first time after the war the the Spirit Blossoms bloom now would be the perfect time. However, the old man tricks him. Neither is the Blossom Yasuo holds real nor is the tea really the Spirit Tea.
    Yasuo was accused to have killed Elder Souma because Souma and Yasuo were the only people in Ionia known for using the Wind Technique and Souma was killed by said fighting style. Yasuo however wasn't even near Souma when it happened because even tho he was supposed to not interfere he saved a nearby village during the war. When he returned Souma was dead already, killed by accident when he tried to cleans Rivens sword from the magic in it. Yasuo blamed himself and ran away, for others it looked like he ran because he killed Souma with the Wind Technique. That's why Yone tracked him down.
    How Yone came back is not known, not even Yone himself knows. All he knows that in the Spirit World he fought a demon. He later realised that this demon already was in him while alive and if Yasuo hadn't killed him he would have become like the old man here. Those lesser demons are called Azakana and feed off of negative emotions like rage, (self-)doubt, or the feeling that someone betrayed you, until they take over and mutate to full demons. He defeated the demon in the Spirit world but with it's last strenght it attacked Yone again and still kinda fused with him. The demon now is in the mask on his face and Yone can't get rid of the mask at the moment, so for now the mask is here to stay permanently. However, because of the mask Yone is able to see other Azakana and if he learns the true name of the demons he can banish them. With every Azakana he learns more and maybe some day he will learn the name of his own demon.

    A small explanation of what is happening in the cinematic.
    Yone (big bro) & Yasuo ( young bro) had a fight. While the older brother was send to face invaders the younger was send to protect their sensei. He left though and his sensei was found dead. Everybody thought he killed him and was hunted, leading to the first scene.
    The whole thing is a dream and Yasuo wakes. He is late for the spirit blossom festival where supposedly the living can speak to the dead but an old monk gives him an alternative.
    The monk is an asakana baby demons of some sort that if it feeds in negative emotions it grows to eventually become a fully fledged demon as Fiddlesticks.

    The shockwaves we see in the fight aren't just for show, and more than shockwaves they're actually the visual representation of yasuo's ability, which is to control wind, as we can see when he throws tornados and stuff. It's also why his brother tells him "even the wind has a path"

    Okay, so, in order.
    The main character is named Yasuo.
    He is a character in the game who is a skirmisher. In his lore he was running from a crime he has committed. The crime is he is the main suspect in the death of his master who was very respected. However we have no info of the why, how, and when.
    Second character, Yone.
    Yone is Yasuos older brother who trained in the skill of duel wielding swords. He is new to the game...as in he JUST came out.
    Old man.
    He is just a character for the cinematic.
    Final character, Ahri.
    Ahri is an another character in the game, she is a mage Kitsune styled character called a Vestiane. She is looking for answers to her past she has forgotten and is likely both a cameo/Easter egg for the fans but also a hint to the fans that Riot MIGHT have something in the works. But we don't know yet.

    Couple of things if you ever see this haha. The whole cinematic is about a festival held for the flowers, spirit blossoms, which are believed to house the souls of your loved ones. Yasuo was going to the festival in hopes to find his brother, Yone, who he killed in combat after Yasuo was accused of killing the elder that you heard he was left to protect. Finding the appropriate flower that houses the soul of your loved one and drinking the tea made from it would make it possible to communicate with lost ones. Now getting to the demon in the cinematic. He chose to protect the monster because if you notice, Yasuo never was able to see the transformation. His back was turned to him the entire time and he was woozed up on the fake spirit blossom tea. So from his perspective, this weird demon is just coming to attack this old man.
