Endeavor was terrible but he did in fact look for Toya after the incident. When Toya reveals himself last season Endeavor’s mental dialogue says as much.
These ladies are known for ignoring the facts cause they bias to one side.. literally in the episode when stain fought deku, Iida, and shoto.. morgan said Iida was wrong for agreeing with stain when literally everything stain said was true..
6:59 I’m pretty sure that, if Toya revealed that he was actually still alive here, he would’ve changed the entire trajectory of the Todoroki family. I can’t say what would have happened to Endeavor, but the rest of the family could’ve began healing much sooner, beginning with their mom possibly regaining her sanity after learning that he was still alive.
Morgan they looked and only found His Jawbone. Extremely High temperature fire lead to conclusion that Dabi got cremated and his ashes got scattered all over
A very good interpretation is Toya was sad he was replaced and he wanted his dad to train him more. He didn't care about any of the "abuse". He was sad he is weaker now and can't have the same potential as shoto.
Pretty much. It’s super sad. Touya’s perception of what a relationship between father and son should be has been completely warped by how Endeavor treated him in the past. And it’s gotten to the point that he would honestly “want” to be abused the same way Shoto was. It’s really horrible.
I think he did care about the abuse and it was the reason he chose to turn into dabi. He saw that endeavour was abusing shoto for being “weak” and not being able to “measure up to his ideals”, so touya probably thought that since he’s even more weak from his accident now, he would probably get the same treatment from endeavour that shoto was getting and that endeavour hasn’t changed after all these years, that nothing would be good enough or measure up to his ideals enough, so now that he was even weaker, I think he just lost it because he knew everything was out the window and he’d never prove himself to his father or be able to be a hero, which was his whole purpose for living and the purpose endeavour gave him since birth. So I guess he thought he had no other choice than to turn into a villain, because he didn’t have anything else to live for and no longer had a purpose, that’s why his body only stayed alive all those years for that one reason only, which was to exact revenge before he died because he felt endeavour had wronged him. That’s why it says “Touya died and dabi was born” when he was praying at his own shrine, I feel like he felt his life and ‘Touya’ was dead, and he now only remained as dabi for one sole purpose to destroy endeavour because he blames him for turning him into Dabi and resents him for it.
Endeavor didn't forget about Touya, he trained Shoto even more to avoid him losing control of his powers. Touya lost his shit from being ignored as he was the oldest and didnt want to be discarded for Shoto
Also, I see Endeavor's continuing of the abusive training as his own twisted way of trying to make it so Touya didn't die in vain. Like "If I don't perfect my masterpiece, then Touya died for nothing". It's super warped and the totally wrong direction to go, but it's the kind of thing that the past Endeavor would've tried to tell himself to justify his actions
I think what i love about the scene of shoto reminiscing of class a and its flashbacks is that shoto literally says he felt safe in other words being in class and hanging out with the class was literally its safe space of the abuse he felt early in his life and helped a lot
I wouldn’t say that Endeavor was still at it when Toya came back home. Instead, I’d say that, after what was supposed to be their son’s death, with nothing else to focus on (such as trying to figure out how to discourage Toya’s drive to be a hero like his father), Endeavor wanted to ignore his guilt and sadness by hyper-focusing on another “project” - which just so happened to be Shoto and his original plan of outdoing All Might. This is why I believe that, if Toya had revealed himself when he came back, especially with his weaker flames, Endeavor would’ve realized much sooner that he was going about things the wrong way. It definitely would’ve put a stop to Shoto’s harsh training at the very least.
Fun fact: Dabi's new white outfit is based on Japanese funeral attire Also, it's so tragic that Toya as a child learned from his mistakes and went home to apologize for his actions, and when he did, Toya saw that Endeavor never learned his lesson when raising Shoto, and Endeavor clearly had no intention of learning to be better at the time or even attempt to stop the abuse. Btw to be clear, this does not justify any of Dabi's villainous deeds such as murdering and what not, but I think it's important to know where Dabi is coming from to understand the Todoroki family. (I feel more confident saying this now that the Todoroki family story is officially done in the manga, but I won't spoil of course)
Truly an unfortunate circumstance for both the Todoroki brothers :( In another universe, I hope they could’ve been a happy family together minus the abuse
I couldn’t imagine being in Touya’s place in those flashbacks. Like, he burned himself up, and the next thing he knew he was several years older and looked completely different and had a different voice. And then he went home, only to realize that his father had essentially just continued on. All of Touya’s fears had essentially come to life. It’s also honestly super sad that Shoto feels the need to carry all of the family’s hardships on his back when Endeavor is right there. Unfortunately, Endeavor spent the last month or so completely neglecting Shoto and Touya, so he’s gonna have to fight All for One, which sucks since Touya seems to really want to talk to him instead of Shoto. Still though, I hope that Shoto can make it through to Touya in some way. Touya may not want to admit it, bit they’re more alike than he thinks. Long story short, I wanna hug them both. They deserve so much better.
Endeavor is one of the only people capable of fighting AFO. He can't spend any energy on Dabi. Everyone has to be responsible for their actions. Dabi can feel as upset as he wants, it never made it ok to murder people.
@@aceofspade2120 I've heard the “Endeavor is the only one that stands a chance against All for One” thing before, and honestly, I have a lot of trouble believing that. Like, I get he’s the number one hero, but from what we’ve seen, and what we’re going to see, I think the right team of heroes and students would absolutely surpass him in terms of power. I’m not saying it was a bad decision to have him here, just that I don’t think he’s the only one who stands a chance.
@@meadowhare1083 Oh hey I never saw this 😅 Anyways, based on what we’ve gotten and the fact that the plan was to destroy All for One’s mask, maybe like, a team of Monoma, Camie, Bakugo, Tokoyami, and like, a few others. I’m not saying that with any absolute certainty, but from what we’ve seen them do, especially this season, I have no issue believing that they wouldn’t at least stand a solid chance.
Dabi is my favorite and it's so sad to see that the villains and heroes treated Toya like a failure. The Todoroki family has the best story in the show I think!!
That facility was one of the many orphanages/hospitals that the doctor kept as a front for their body/quirk farm 😖Funny story....in season 4, they cut a manga panel of a young Overhaul sitting in a room that was decorated just like the one Touya woke up in......
Endeavor couldn’t help Toya with his quirk, it was burning him every time he used it. Maybe he could have taught him breathing techniques for controlling emotions but he told him stop because it was burning his flesh every time like how is he suppose to teach him to control his quirk when he would have to let him use it to gain better control, like could anyone as a parent sit there and smell their child’s burning flesh while teaching them to use their flames. Unlike endeavor and Shoto he has no resistance to flames, And the Toya was gone for yrs Endeavor looked and couldn’t find a body so gmhe grieved and then threw himself into his “work” and training.
Just to clarify Shoto had it worse than Toya physically. Toya got only love until his physique issues. Ignoring was the problem in Toyas case. Shotos case was physical hurt to train him(with lack of any visible love). They're a similar idea. Just invert His kid who hates his power and wants to shut him up to the Kid whos so obsessed with his dad and his power
The fight was amazing. But honestly the flashback stuff with Touya was sad as well. We see even after everything Endeavor did, Touya was still willing to put his feelings of hurt aside and just go back home and apologize. Endeavor kept telling Touya to give up on his ambitions because it would only hurt Touya. But Endeavor himself never gave up on that dream. He kept trying to have children to make the "perfect kid". Then Touya literally exploded and burned alive because of the emotional and psychological trauma he went through because of Endeavor's ambitions. And even after all that, Endeavor didn't stop. Touya came home and saw that Endeavor had just gotten worse. While he was alive, Touya couldn't change anything. And even in death, Touya couldn't change anything. His father didn't learn anything. It's like his very existence was meaningless. So if Touya didn't have any meaning, he would be burned to ash and be reborn as Dabi. With flames so hot even the Demon Lord himself couldn't control them. I also love that Dani started to burn through the All Might statue. Because living up to that impossible ideal and his father's envy are what tore their family apart to begin with. And once again Dabi acknowledges again that he and the League are the accumulation of everything wrong with Hero Society. Their pain was created because of the failures of society. Which makes it even more fitting that Dabi begins to burn down the literal symbol of hero society.

When I saw this I was like, "A mha episode with Good composition ? What timeline did I land it." Despite having no big name animators working on this episode, it was still pretty good. S7 only has 2-3 Sakuga moments up until now, Star's Keranos, the nuclear explosion and Shigaraki vs Jeanist (that didn't even happen in the manga). We will probably get a lot in ep10 since it's not only post break but endeavor always goes hard.
That's one thing Horikoshi did that makes him such a great writer, he's not having an Endeavor redemption arc because there's no way everyone will forgive him for the things he did so he's having him atone for what he did, to live the rest of his live accepting the resentment of his actions because he brought it all to himself
