Nice try buddy. All I did was unplug the power cord from the XBOX for about 1 minute and when I turned it back on the system started an update. Like to save a life.
I think I found a solution. All you have to do is leave it for a day. Then it should work. Atleast mine is now working. Only sometimes does the error E105 comes. Once it comes, let xbox rest for an hour. Then it should work. I hope your problem is solved.
ShadowDBZ Well I just shut the console down by pressing and holding the power button on the CONSOLE(not the controller)for upto 10 seconds then I removed all the cables from it. Then I let it rest for an hour and it started to work just fine Note. This is not a permanent solution. It worked for me but for my freind's xbox E105 kept coming back. Hope this helps.
I was able to select "Turn Off", unplugged the back, waited a minute, plugged the console back in, and then turned on the console. This might be better for some people to try first before resetting everything.
Same shi happens to me in ps4 and Xbox all it is is when leaving your Xbox or ps4 on all time and it turns off by itself or doesn’t ina a long time everyday for a while it messes up
Unfortunately in most cases this will be a short term fix and then the e105 error will pop back up again. In my experience it would solve the problem for anywhere from ten minutes to ten hours. Then my system would lock up and give me the same error. I think it's due to a section of the hard drive being damaged. Once one of the games tries to write on that sector the error pops back up. The only real solution is to send it in for repairs or replace the HD yourself.
POWER SURGE YOUR XBOX AND CLEAR CACHE!!! Step 1: Hold power button on console for 10 seconds until it shuts down completely. Step 2: Unplug cord from wall outlet, wait for orange light to turn off on the power distributor box. Step 3: plug back into a DIFFERENT wall outlet. Step 4: Wait for light on power distributor box to turn orange, then press the power button on the console to turn on. You should see the green start up screen. (This should allow your Xbox to turn on and get to the dashboard.) Step 5: once fully on, go to settings > System > Storage > Clear Local saves games. Once you clear the local saved games it will restart your Xbox and bring you back to the dashboard. Step 6: Repeat step 5 again, once turned on again, go to settings > power & startup > power mode > instant on. Step 7. Restart Xbox then play a game to make sure it’s working. That should fix the start up/crashing issue. It also wouldn’t hurt to uninstall and reinstall any games that may be crashing and freezing. That’s typically what causes the start up error in the first place. If all that fails, you need a new Xbox. Plain and simple
Yes good to try. If you continue to keep getting the E105 error your hard drive is going bad slowly. Over time you'll just get more errors, game freeze/lockups etc. I know as I own 3 Xbox Ones, I only had 1 console get this 105 error and the hard drive needed to be replaced to fix it.
This happened to me the first time today, I tried tried to turn off the console multiple time because I didn't wanna pull the plug right away. As I was watching videos on the problem, the console turned off, I turned it on after a minute and it was working fine. Just saying sometimes being patient might solve it. Go for the reset option if it doesn't work for more than 30 minutes.

ATTENTION I FIXED IT, I'll keep it short and sweet, basically you are going to want to factory reset (yes clear all saved games apps etc) this is the first step regardless of what issue you may have. For me it was the system error but the number doesn't matter or anything like that just find a way to access system reset. I would search another guide depending on your issue. Then after re setting and starting the xbox up do all the steps upto manual setup once you reach manual set up look for the section about keeping games and apps up to date and deselect to keep xbox up to date. This fixed it for me, however installing everything takes the piss, but it's a small price to pay. This workaround also prevents stupid updates like the February one from damaging our systems as you can choose to update it. If you read an article that says they update is bad you can wait till they have a fix. I hope this helps you guys

Don't worry bros, I am a PlayStation gamer and these type of problems are in every console , not only in xbox .This problem is in every console including ps4 ..i also sometimes have problems with ps4 while playing physicall games
this sadly only temporarily fixes it. For whatever reason, after the first failure the hard drive is prone to fail a file/update downloads again so the issues never really goes away. I learned this the hard way when I fixed it the first time, and proceeded to download even more stuff than I had before only to have to clear it all out again.
First of all.. Half the time my Xbox won't load up! It's keeps showing a Troubleshoot screen and I have to reset the Xbox EVERY DAY to use it! Everytime I try to reset it the damn thing just makes a sound then reboots up and says “something went wrong” I also tried to use a usb to factory reset it, it started to say “preparing console” then after 6% it says something went wrong
you don’t have to go through that whole process 1. hold the power botton for 10 seconds to turn it off 2. next unplug the system and hold the power botton for 10 seconds it should make a chime 3. turn the xbox on and it should be good and start in update if u need it

I got an E105 error just by moving my console to another place. Moved it back where it was originally and it works fine. Never in my life have I ever had an error from moving my console lmao

I'll start from the beginning. Bought the xbox x. Off and on played it no more then an hour here and there. No issues. Dreaded e105 started after I bought far cry 5. Here's the kicker. Microsoft forums stated with the new 4k, hdr, x enhanced ability takes 4gigs to save on console. Lots of needed memory. The cloud only held so much memory. Cloud got full and my game started freezing and couldn't back up my saves. I deleted my game cache and it cleared a while. It got fun after that. Finally my console started freezing and couldn't sync. Factory reset worked again an hour maybe. Finally beat fat cry 5 and deleted game. It got worse...a new 700plus mb update was needed..my console wouldn't complete it and kept resetting itself. 2hrs later it stuck in a loop. Couldn't factory reset as internet would make it do the update before the reset. Finally turned off internet and got it reset. Nothing worked. Now its e200 error on top of e105. I downloaded the 5gig file off Microsoft to reinstall the needed forced update...it actually worked! Then it started again yesterday with the e105. Reps now want me to send my x in for repair. See they dont know if its clogged memory. Acts like a PC and is super slow...as I'm buying another x to see if its them or my x that sucks. 500 plus dollars flushed down the toilet. Today we actually gotta play for an hour with no issues but the xbox took 30 min to boot up with no error. BASICALLY IF EVERYONE FACTORY RESETS AND IT DOESNT WORK. DOWNLOAD the OSU1.ZIP off Microsoft support. Its 4.7 gigs. It seems to reapply the main OS.

You'll keep getting these errors no matter what you do. The only fix is to get a new Xbox or replacing it with a new internal HDD hard drive from MS. I own 3 xboxs and never ever had this problem. My friend did and he had to send it into MS for a replacement. He got to different Xbox one X back from MS and all had the same defective problem after testing it for 15 to 30 days. Finally MS sent him a 3rd Xbox 1X and it works fine now with no errors, this means MS doesn't check or care if your getting a working Xbox 1X so do alot of testing and loading it with many games/apps.

Ive tried this before, someone at Xbox support told me this method and I deleted everything. However it came back no problem a day later, and im doing this all over again. really starting to get annoyed with my trash console and the shit it does. Worked fine for a day after I installed two games, while the rest stopped installing.
Posting to help the best person. I have the Scorpio edition. I finally shut down, like full shut down if the console in my history of owning it. Upon next startup, I got the E105. After many attempts, I tried plugging directly to the wall vs surge protector that it has always been. It worked!!😎
I just had this message last night. My original method did not work. This time around, the system doesn't freeze when making a selection. Plugging straight into a wall did not fix. Leaving unplugged for 24hrs did not fix. THE FIX WAS UNPLUGGING EVERYTHING FROM THE CONSOLE, THEN PLUG INTO THE WALL AFTER CONNECTING EVERYTHING BACK.
I just hard reset my xbox one x (unplugged power cable and all other cables for 2 minutes, plugged only the monitor and power cable back in, let it load, and plug in the rest.) everything seems fine and 2k20&Cod MW works good. Be patient and try a lot of different strategies before you restore to default or start taking sh*t apart. Good luck everyone! If you can’t fix it don’t worry, this time away from it is good for you!

Ben Carney Yes, it happened to me as well. I just got a new Xbox which is working fine. If it changes to E102 then just press troubleshoot and reset Xbox , but keep the games!!! That's how I fixed the problem, but ONLY FOR LIKE 2 OR 3 DAYS!!!! Then it comes back again and then you need to do this over and over again.... Which sucks.... But that's the only way you can make it work, or you just need to get a new Xbox one x. Keep that in mind mate.
What about if this is chronic? I've done a reset on my Xbox One X half a dozen times. It will work for a few days up to a week, then have the "E105 ...(etc)".
Weird how all the consoles seem to be dying at the same sort of time. Mine just died today, was well looked after and had 0 problems then all of a sudden mid game, freezes and can't get back to the dashboard ever since. Been able to boot into Troubleshoot but other than that it's stuck in a loop.
I fixed mine just now by connecting to hotspot, getting all the way back to the home page then rebooting my wifi, reconnected to the wifi and we were rocking and rolling, hope this helps
You should always try to reset the console through the menu provided and choose keep games if you can. If it doesn't work still, then you can go full reset. Its always best to have all your games and apps on an external harddrive just in case of this. I have to reset my xbox one x about 1 to 2 times a month lately and it really just needs to be sent in for repair.

I DID THIS AND I SEEN THAT ALL MY ATUFF WAS GONE AND SLAMED MY HEAD INTO THE WALL AND STARTED BLEEDING BUT THEN 5 min later It was just loading. I was having a heart attack.
Idk if this will help anyone, but works for me. Warning this isn't permanent, but you usually end up factory resetting nearly once a month maybe every two if your lucky. But if you get stuck on factory reset, just hard reset it after a few minutes after hitting the factory reset. After give it about 5ish minutes and it should start rebooting. So far this is what's worked for me. I'm planning on sending it out for repairs soon, but I'm a bit worried due to some of the horror stories I've heard.

My day one xbox one kept doing this over the last few days I was just about to press reset to factory settings and realised I hadn’t done a proper hard reset so I did that held the power button for ten seconds first then unplugged from the mains and unplugged the power brick and then unplugged from the console, left it for 10 seconds and plugged it all back in once I turned it back on it booted up and instead of this screen I had an update. Maybe the update wasn’t prompting on startup so it’s worth a try guys but I’m getting really sick of the ms bullshit. It’s Russian roulette every time I turn my console on. I will not be happy if one day I can’t get any of my data back considering how much I’ve spent over the years

If your having freezing issues and are doing this often. Then it is probably dust build up in the interal components. I suggest finding a good tutorial on you tube and cracking it open. I got to a point i was resetting my console once every other day until i opened it up and cleaned the incredible amount of shit from the console. It works perfectly now.

so I had this issue once, i fixed it by following the steps on Xbox support, and I shit you not, 2 days later it happens again. but this time it won't let me fix it.
I Jam just had the same problem. If you have xbox live all your save files will remain in the cloud so you can sync your games later on. I selected the factory reset option without deleting all my games. Didn’t work. After looking up some stuff online I discovered that the HDD is failing. After that i just spammed the restart option and it magically worked (you should also disconnect your power cable for 30 sec). All my games were still there and my save files were intact after syncing. This is not a permanent fix but you should look into how to replace the HDD. Maybe you have warranty.

I just left it unplugged cuz even after a factory reset it didnt work and I was frustrated but after a few hours it was working fine. My problem is just blank dashboard and I can't go over or anything it just says Launch where a game would be and half of the top screen where it says launch is transparent black and says I'm offline but I'm online
I've done multiple full resets and reformatted the external hard drive and I'm still getting errors such as this code. It'll work for a day or two and then crash again.
You can tell the next gen consoles are coming when they start sending codes to your old systems to make you buy another xbox one b4 the new consoles release.
If anyone is still having this problem and its freezing when you go to pick an option, something that just worked for me is I hard reset it let everything shut down for about 10 seconds and cut it back on,when the xbox logo popped up I pressed eject disc (which I had in already) and let the disc set out and I was on the homescreen again
Honestly I gave up and started swapping cables and started up the Xbox on its side, upside down then I Cbf trying and left it on the side and turned it off... turned it on in 30 minutes n it reset itself 🙌🏽

ATTENTION I FIXED IT,
I'll keep it short and sweet, basically you are going to want to factory reset (yes clear all saved games apps etc) this is the first step regardless of what issue you may have. For me it was the system error but the number doesn't matter or anything like that just find a way to access system reset. I would search another guide depending on your issue. Then after re setting and starting the xbox up do all the steps upto manual setup once you reach manual set up look for the section about keeping games and apps up to date and deselect to keep xbox up to date. This fixed it for me, however installing everything takes the piss, but it's a small price to pay. This workaround also prevents stupid updates like the February one from damaging our systems as you can choose to update it. If you read an article that says they update is bad you can wait till they have a fix.

this sadly only temporarily fixes it. For whatever reason, after the first failure the hard drive is prone to fail a file/update downloads again so the issues never really goes away. I learned this the hard way when I fixed it the first time, and proceeded to download even more stuff than I had before only to have to clear it all out again.

Second: when I play rdr online.. it works for a few minutes then the ground texture goes blurry and the whole game freezes and I can't get it to work.

you don’t have to go through that whole process
1. hold the power botton for 10 seconds to turn it off
2. next unplug the system and hold the power botton for 10 seconds it should make a chime
3. turn the xbox on and it should be good and start in update if u need it
also it does not get rid of anything
everyone has different issues you might have had that work but many others including me it does absolutely nothing so dont comment saying you dont have to do that if you dont know fs😂

I'll start from the beginning. Bought the xbox x. Off and on played it no more then an hour here and there. No issues. Dreaded e105 started after I bought far cry 5. Here's the kicker. Microsoft forums stated with the new 4k, hdr, x enhanced ability takes 4gigs to save on console. Lots of needed memory. The cloud only held so much memory. Cloud got full and my game started freezing and couldn't back up my saves. I deleted my game cache and it cleared a while. It got fun after that. Finally my console started freezing and couldn't sync. Factory reset worked again an hour maybe. Finally beat fat cry 5 and deleted game. It got worse...a new 700plus mb update was needed..my console wouldn't complete it and kept resetting itself. 2hrs later it stuck in a loop. Couldn't factory reset as internet would make it do the update before the reset. Finally turned off internet and got it reset. Nothing worked. Now its e200 error on top of e105. I downloaded the 5gig file off Microsoft to reinstall the needed forced update...it actually worked! Then it started again yesterday with the e105. Reps now want me to send my x in for repair. See they dont know if its clogged memory. Acts like a PC and is super slow...as I'm buying another x to see if its them or my x that sucks. 500 plus dollars flushed down the toilet. Today we actually gotta play for an hour with no issues but the xbox took 30 min to boot up with no error. BASICALLY IF EVERYONE FACTORY RESETS AND IT DOESNT WORK. DOWNLOAD the OSU1.ZIP off Microsoft support. Its 4.7 gigs. It seems to reapply the main OS.

This ERROR means something is seriously wrong with your XBOX ONE X's internal HDD hard drive. You'll keep getting these errors no matter what you do. The only fix is to get a new Xbox or replacing it with a new internal HDD hard drive from MS.
I own 3 xboxs and never ever had this problem. My friend did and he had to send it into MS for a replacement. He got to different Xbox one X back from MS and all had the same defective problem after testing it for 15 to 30 days. Finally MS sent him a 3rd Xbox 1X and it works fine now with no errors, this means MS doesn't check or care if your getting a working Xbox 1X so do alot of testing and loading it with many games/apps.

Ive tried this before, someone at Xbox support told me this method and I deleted everything. However it came back no problem a day later, and im doing this all over again. really starting to get annoyed with my trash console and the shit it does. Worked fine for a day after I installed two games, while the rest stopped installing.

I just had this message last night. My original method did not work. This time around, the system doesn't freeze when making a selection. Plugging straight into a wall did not fix. Leaving unplugged for 24hrs did not fix.
THE FIX WAS UNPLUGGING EVERYTHING FROM THE CONSOLE, THEN PLUG INTO THE WALL AFTER CONNECTING EVERYTHING BACK.

I just hard reset my xbox one x (unplugged power cable and all other cables for 2 minutes, plugged only the monitor and power cable back in, let it load, and plug in the rest.) everything seems fine and 2k20&Cod MW works good. Be patient and try a lot of different strategies before you restore to default or start taking sh*t apart. Good luck everyone! If you can’t fix it don’t worry, this time away from it is good for you!

Yes, it happened to me as well. I just got a new Xbox which is working fine. If it changes to E102 then just press troubleshoot and reset Xbox , but keep the games!!! That's how I fixed the problem, but ONLY FOR LIKE 2 OR 3 DAYS!!!! Then it comes back again and then you need to do this over and over again.... Which sucks.... But that's the only way you can make it work, or you just need to get a new Xbox one x. Keep that in mind mate.
What about if this is chronic? I've done a reset on my Xbox One X half a dozen times. It will work for a few days up to a week, then have the "E105 ...(etc)".

Weird how all the consoles seem to be dying at the same sort of time. Mine just died today, was well looked after and had 0 problems then all of a sudden mid game, freezes and can't get back to the dashboard ever since. Been able to boot into Troubleshoot but other than that it's stuck in a loop.

I fixed mine just now by connecting to hotspot, getting all the way back to the home page then rebooting my wifi, reconnected to the wifi and we were rocking and rolling, hope this helps
You should always try to reset the console through the menu provided and choose keep games if you can. If it doesn't work still, then you can go full reset. Its always best to have all your games and apps on an external harddrive just in case of this. I have to reset my xbox one x about 1 to 2 times a month lately and it really just needs to be sent in for repair.

Idk if this will help anyone, but works for me. Warning this isn't permanent, but you usually end up factory resetting nearly once a month maybe every two if your lucky. But if you get stuck on factory reset, just hard reset it after a few minutes after hitting the factory reset. After give it about 5ish minutes and it should start rebooting. So far this is what's worked for me. I'm planning on sending it out for repairs soon, but I'm a bit worried due to some of the horror stories I've heard.

@@juliahollon7678 Agree a temp solution before replacing your Xbox One X hard drive. If you continue to keep getting the E105 error your hard drive is going bad slowly. Over time you'll just get more errors, game freeze/lockups etc.

E102 code popped up after I did this?
My day one xbox one kept doing this over the last few days I was just about to press reset to factory settings and realised I hadn’t done a proper hard reset so I did that held the power button for ten seconds first then unplugged from the mains and unplugged the power brick and then unplugged from the console, left it for 10 seconds and plugged it all back in once I turned it back on it booted up and instead of this screen I had an update. Maybe the update wasn’t prompting on startup so it’s worth a try guys but I’m getting really sick of the ms bullshit. It’s Russian roulette every time I turn my console on. I will not be happy if one day I can’t get any of my data back considering how much I’ve spent over the years

If your having freezing issues and are doing this often. Then it is probably dust build up in the interal components. I suggest finding a good tutorial on you tube and cracking it open. I got to a point i was resetting my console once every other day until i opened it up and cleaned the incredible amount of shit from the console. It works perfectly now.

I Jam just had the same problem. If you have xbox live all your save files will remain in the cloud so you can sync your games later on. I selected the factory reset option without deleting all my games. Didn’t work. After looking up some stuff online I discovered that the HDD is failing. After that i just spammed the restart option and it magically worked (you should also disconnect your power cable for 30 sec). All my games were still there and my save files were intact after syncing. This is not a permanent fix but you should look into how to replace the HDD. Maybe you have warranty.

If anyone is still having this problem and its freezing when you go to pick an option, something that just worked for me is I hard reset it let everything shut down for about 10 seconds and cut it back on,when the xbox logo popped up I pressed eject disc (which I had in already) and let the disc set out and I was on the homescreen again
