So far these videos have been amazing and one of the best things about them is that you've cut out all of the fucking around before the first race. I love the quick intro, description of the cars, and then straight in to it. Makes the videos so good to watch.
I’ve raced 125 gearbox karts and they just are unbelievably quick on acceleration, braking and cornering. The whole concept is so different from a car - no suspension, no differential, wide sticky tyres that last a meeting if you’re lucky, disk brakes on all four wheels big enough to stop a small car. The super kart in the video would beat the Ferrari hands down round most U.K. racing circuits, maybe not at a really fast track like Silverstone but definitely somewhere like Cadwell park. At the start of the vid he called it a go kart. I nearly got chucked out of my first meeting by the chief marshal when I did that!
it's so satisfying to watch a video that doesn't have the usual padding at the start and the formulaic format to all videos. you know the one i'm talking about.
Nice video. One suggestion for the moose tests: can you put a static camera facing the course head on? I think this will give the best perception of speed and cornering ability. The panning from the front 3/4's angle diminishes some of that.
Wtf Man That cart is so so cool man I always keep hurting myself watching cars in videos because can't afford any until I hit lottery. Butttt today I realized fun is within my reach maybe
On the majority of race circuits the kart would murder this Ferrari. On many circuits superkarts do similar lap times to Moto GP bikes. Although they lose out on top speed (about 140 mph) they more than make up for it through the corners.
I did some kart racing 46 years ago in the 210cc class using a single cylinder engine, four speed gearbox and a ZIP chassis. It produced about 30 bhp, but weighed c.100kg, disc brakes etc. Even then the performance was extraordinary. It cost me 200 quid, and a day's racing at Rye House or Kimbolton cost a fiver! Oh, what days they were!
That was about the time I was racing 210s. I started at uni around 1975 and continued for a few years after, then returned for a couple of seasons of 125 National in the early 90’s. I raced at Rye House, Kimbolton, Bovingdon (only opened for a couple of years), Blackbush plus the old favourites of Rissington and Shennington. I even made it to a few long circuit races at Cadwell Park and Snetterton. I actually preferred the 210s - I thought the super sticky Bridgestones made the ride super uncomfortable and cost a fortune.
@@simono.sniper3214 The only time I did that was in the final at Bovingdon. I started (very unusually for me) in pole, got overtaken and clipped the tyres at the chicane trying to get the place back. Ended up upside down on my helmet. The organisers seemed more shocked than me and by the time they had sorted it all out it was too late to rerun the final. I think they closed the circuit soon after because the spoilsports in Bovingdon village didn’t like having their peace an quiet shattered on a Sunday afternoon!
Not an equal test for the moose test - the distance from centre of mass to inside wheel for the Ferrari is much larger than for the kart, this means that the effective radii of turns travelled for the centre of mass is smaller.
