I watched the livestream and went through the post fight interview by the announcer to both Buakaw and Saenchai. Saenchai broke his finger in the 2nd round, hence his focus was indeed disturbed throughout the fight since then. The very thing we were worried about in bare knuckle fighting between these 2 legends actually happened. They then proceeded to say that this professional fight between them is the first and the last, "I do not want to professionally fight my friend again" I think Buakaw said. Even though they fought for real, I think you can feel the frustration between the two that they actually needed to fight each other, especially for Saenchai since he is also in a disadvantage, PLUS the broken finger. Then Buakaw said that he will now need to take responsibility and take Saenchai to the hospital for the broken finger, which is comedically posted in Yokkao's instagram page haha.
Both are still definitely the GOAT in Muay Thai. They are still humans with their differences and unique aspects, and no one is perfect. In the end, who we look up to and who we prefer than the other REGARDLESS of which fighter is better... comes down to our own personal taste in the combat sport and martial art passion we all possess.

Rather than "frustration that he had to fight his friend", I think it's more like they both had to keep from breaking out laughing since they seemed to have an agreement not to make hard contact with punches or elbows to the jaw or temple.

This fight was real. Not what I think, but it is.
(Im Thai so I tuned in behind the scenes, the ins and outs, all that good stuff with both of them)
After the fight both of them were interviewed and Buakaw asked the audience if everything is now clear, that this isn't them dancing around to make content.
Both Saenchai and Buakaw told us that they have the professionalism to carry their duty inside the ring, when outside they're friends like always.
Many foreigners just don't understand that MuayThai fighters have the ability to switch from friend to enemies once they're inside the ring, while still have the respects towards eachother.
So no this isn't an exhibition fight.
Buakaw and Saenchai does not wish to fight eachother again, they went all out in that fight, and that's the first and last time they want to see eachother inside the ring.
Both of them are willing to face any other opponents after this fight, but they're done fighting eachother.
Saenchai dislocated his left hand index knuckle early (showed in post fight interview) so that's why he didn't throw his hands much.
Buakaw looks like he hurt his ankle or knee, but he poker faced through the pain and kept kicking Saenchai.
My own comment on the fight:
In round 4, Saenchai threw left knee with both hands framed, but because Buakaw has more reach and he was setting up left hook low to the body before hand, he was able to caught Saenchai right on the chin. I feel if Buakaw wanted to finish Saenchai, he could have.
Other than that, Buakaw execute his game plan and great defence/ counter very well.
Saenchai tried his best and props to him. Buakaw is great at long range with his kicks, and close range with his knees in the clinge. Saenchai was just having a hard time fighting in all range.
Thanks for sharing your reactions with us, really enjoyed it!
I look forward to the detailed analysis of the techniques for both of them in this fight if you do plan to do that.
Hope you recover fast Gabriel, take all the time you need🙏

Fantastic review as always. Saenchai broke his hand in round 2 which was a real shame as his boxing was going to be his main focus. He was really gutted about that. Buakaw size and strength showed to be a determining factor. All in all we were honoured to have both of these exceptional athletes in our ring and I can tell you they both earned a huge pay check. No one was seriously hurt and we got to see 5 rounds of high class action. Respect to you and to both fighters.

Buakaw targeted Saenchai’s left leg. He knows how lethal Saenchai’s left high kicks are. Especially when mixing it up with his feints and mixup combinations ☝️ Buakaw studied Saenchai’s style many many months before their fight. Buakaw is well known for adapting to his opponent, finding weaknesses and or creating weaknesses ☝️If I were Pacquiao, I would not underestimate Buakaw’s adaptability. Good luck Buakaw on your upcoming fight against Pacquiao! You got this Buakaw! 💪

To me this is more like really hard sparring, maybe except for the last round where both men tries to end the show on a high note.
And while Buakaw is definitely my favourite fighter ever, I wouldn’t strictly use this fight to claim he is better than Saenchai. Both men are past their prime and neither man truly had the killer instinct when fighting against each other due to their brotherhood and honestly the lack of “rewards” since both men have nothing left to prove or needs.
We will never know who is truly the superior fighter since this fight took place 10 years too late.
But still, what a honour to watch it finally happen

I was shocked how ferocious Buakaw was, and it feels like Saenchai was shocked too!
Remember, those 2 legends are in their 40s! So doing full 5 rounds bare knuckles was insane.
The weigh difference was huge. Yes, Saenchai is known as the giant slayer, but not of the caliber of Buakaw.
I was sincerely scared for Saenchai. He got ragdolled in there. I'm wondering where he's going after that.

I feel Saenchai would’ve done so much better if he had the Thai wrap/gloves as well as being allowed to use his sweeps and takedowns that were illegal in the fight. Because of his broken finger, I don’t think he even tried to catch kicks after round 2… not to mention the guy barely used his teeps which is something he’s great at. It confused me during that fight. I wonder if he was just trying to be more aggressive and box more but he doesn’t box as much as Buakaw

    • @Spychopunk2077

@@traceurs619nah his moves won't work on Buakaw, Buakaw has less fights but went against some of the killers in the sport, no way Buakaw will fall for Saenchai tricks, Buakaw in K-1 earn him enough boxing experience to interrupt Seanchai setup. Buakaw answer everything back you can see in the fight.

It was a professionally conducted hard sparring.
You could see especially on Buakaw, that he was very controlled although he did not hesitate to throw hard regularly.
He did not go 100% by a long shot though.
Very good show by both legends. 🙏
Also I read many comments on social media where people wondered why Saenchai was so serious and defensive and did not clown around like he always does.
Well people know him almost exclusively from his fights with farangs who he has been fed for years that are a piece of cake for him.
What we saw here is what happpens when he is matched against another legend who is superior both in size and skills.

At one point it was clear as day that Buakaw aimed for Saenchai's shoulder instead of his head. And Saenchai seemed strangely lax about using evasive head movement.
And it was funny to watch Buakaw do an upward elbow and not even point it towards Saenchai's head. 😂
And Saenchai at least one time threw a hard elbow and made sure to cave inwards to keep it from reaching Buakaw (who also seemed unconcerned about head movement and strikes to his chin).
It was an exhibition match billed as a real fight. I was disappointed that it was what I expected it to be.

I would say it was real, but i also feel like buakaw was holding a little back. usually he guards himself much tighter, butt here he had hes hands very low to be him. He went very much to the body. I thought to myself wile watching this live, that itt could be becouse he was afraid for hes hands, but in his bare knuckle boxing match he went all to the head full blast. it was pretty clear that if buakaw wanted he could of ended it in round two already,, but in doing so he would give saenchai lasting brain damage since it's bare knuckle and he might break hes own hand aswell in the process so yeah, definitely and understandably held back a bit

I was happy, but not surprised, to see that Buakaw came in on point with crisp, good technique, speed, and power. They are both legends, but a broken finger or not, the outcome was not a surprise.
Has Buakaw ever shown up and not delivered for a fight? Nope, and this time was no different.

I was one of the people saying I'd expected it to be an exhibition, but I was pleasantly surprised by it turning out to be a real fight. Not from concerns about them being too friendly to be professional about it but because the size difference is so pronounced, and it felt apparent to me as the fight went on that Saenchai wouldn't be making up that difference.
(No shade meant to Saenchai; I'm sure he's whip the hell out of me even if I was Buakaw's size 😅)

  • @1Asian_Badass
    @1Asian_Badass 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It was definitely a "real" fight, but it seems like maybe they had agreed not to tee off on each other''s head with punches too much, as they never opened up with any huge combos to the head. I think Buakaw, with his size and power advantage, maybe realized that would be a bit much to do to a friend, and didn't want to take advantage, or hurt him in that manner; and the same with Saenchai, in the sense that I think he didn't want to really try to wail on Buakaw's face, especially since they weren't wearing gloves.

  • @WszyscyGramyPL
    @WszyscyGramyPL 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Imma repeat what I wrote under the bkfc vid. I think the lack of head punches quantity wise is due to both fighter knowing how easy it is to break your head when throwing hard and both having other weapons they're comfortable with. Buakaw threw more punches probably because it was easier for him due to the reach advantage, but still most of them were to the body because is safer. But then when you saw them throwing elbows, these were definitely thrown hard. Smart decision from both of them to avoid injuries by throwing hard punches to the head. Makes me wonder how much MT and MMA would change if there were no gloves.

This is my 3rd time watchint the fight. Saenchai's broken hand in the second really turned the tide of the fight.
The frequency from Saenchai dropped substantially and he didnt get the ability to use his cross and overhand which he has used successfully before.
Likewise Buakaw marching Saenchai eliminated his question mark kicks and scissor kicks.

no one really belived that this was going to happen but i really enjoy it. Regarding the GOAT status, imo i really think that this bout shouldnt put the statment on it and because of 3 major reasons. 1) Size difference 2) Rule set(i think it was favouring Buakaw no throws allowed 3) Saenchai broke two fingers in the second round. Also i would say that it was a bit hold back. Buakaw appologies to Saenchai after that first head kick landed. thats the obvious sign that intention was not to go full blast kicks or punches. And from few head kicks Saenchai throw you could see he pull them back a bit. There wasnt so much snap in the kick as he would throw in any other fight. They bang good but i still dont think they went full power

  • @tor13128
    @tor13128 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

it's not a real fight but there were serious real strikes in the fight and saenchai even breaking his finger by accident. i was rooting for saenchai, but you can tell buakaw is too big and so after buakaw hurts saenchai, instead of rushing in to finish him, he spends his time outside and throws kicks at a slow rhythm. even the newb commentators at several points had said that buakaw would be in major advantage if he boxed close range. there was also another moment where buakaw landed a kick flush on saenchai and we could see buakaw open his hand to apologize for a split second. then when he saw saenchai was in fighting stance, he immediately continued attacking saenchai since he confirmed he was okay. these slight pauses, slower pacing, kicking from outside the pocket, not finishing the opponent with punching, etc. are all ways to let the opponent recover.
this is why saenchai looked so disappointed, even after the fight when they met in the hospital. no fighter is happy to realize the gap is bigger than they imagined. in muay thai, size matters too much because their stances are pretty rigid. even saenchai who is considered fast and agile is still rigid compared to actual dynamic styles of many angles. when muay thai fighters fight bigger guys, they are mostly still trying to be solid and attack each other like tanks. this just gives a huge advantage to the bigger guy.
if i recall, buakaw will fight pacquiao next. now pacquiao is a real agile and dynamic fighter with angles (at least in his prime he was). we might be able to see the style required for a smaller guy to offset the weight/size difference in that fight. but in this fight, buakaw definitely did not finish saenchai on purpose and slowed the pace many times.

Definitely real, laid off certain punches but I think that has more to do with it being bare knuckle than an exhibition. I have a question, what do you think of the idea of bare knuckle kickboxing? I've started watching more bkfc and I like the differences between regular boxing and bare knuckle, ever since then I've always wondered about bare knuckle kickboxing, The fact they held this fight bare knuckle makes me want to see bare knuckle kickboxing even more.

5:22 it looks to me like Saenchai waaaay underestimated his superman elbow range which is weird to me, like by several inches. I feel like he intentionally pulled it and didn't hit that. Not sure if because he didn't want to hit with it or he was using it as a fake to get in, though faking just to clinch is weird to me.
