I'm loving this series. This is one of the ways I worked to improve my own skills around a decade ago. Watch the best fighters and figure out how to be more like them. Artur Kyshenko was probably the guy I got the most from in terms of how my technique, attacks, defense look.
I hope everyone enjoys the Buakaw episode.

@@rykehuss3435 you dont become one of the greatest boxers without some technique. It may not always seem like it and yes his athleticism helped but he understands boxing on a level that most never will.

I'm a lefty (in the leg) fighter so is Buakaw and Bill "superfoot" wallace became that way because of an injury. Most trainers try to train us the opposite way. We train with the right leg in the gym but practice by ourselves with our natural lead leg. It's hard for "normal" fighters to read it because they're expecting the back leg meanwhile the real speedy more powerful threat is right in front of them. Even goal keepers in soccer have trouble with this when it's time for penalty kicks. Just fake with the right and use our natural left. It's hard to read especially when they have train their reflexes mostly for right leg fighters all thei life. Same with lefties that's train to box orthodox. These boxers tend to have a natural powerful lead hook. Every time you'll try to circle away from the right hand you'll just keep running into the hook.

Wow, seeing that long guard with one hand protecting the forehead reminded me of an old Japanese illustration of a karate master (think it was Motobu Choki) fighting a boxer. Motobu has this weird looking pose with one palm in front and the other pressed to his forehead. For the longest time I thought it was just a silly illustration/something that doesn't work, but now after seeing this I just realised maybe it's basically a variant of the long guard. It also explains some of the poses I've seen in karate katas.

You can kick hard with a lead leg without switching or pulling back, its not a technique that is present in muay thai but it is used in karate, sanda, and American kickboxing, you can make it weak and fast for point or fast and strong if its a full contact sport, for how to do it its best to watch sanda fighters they kick really good with it. Kyokushinkai wear long pants and its often not as obvious.

Any chance we can see a match between you and Buakaw? I could see you driving a kick right through his long guard!
Excellent content as always...Keep up the good work!

I've been watching Buakaw for sooo long. I don't really fight like him but still take little elements or techniques from him to incorporate into my style. Definitely a big fan of him and the other K-1 MAX champs (and Kyshenko).

@@GabrielVargaOfficial Agree. Buakaw is Buakaw... as much as he seems to be like a stereotypical Thai fighter, he really is a unique kickboxer. I have been breaking down his style eversince but this video of yours really helped sum him up!

Hi Gabriel, nice video. One potentially interesting follow-up would be to break down the Buakaw vs Petrosyan fights to see how The Doctor handled those techniques. Cheers.

Do you prefer to fight outfighters, counterpunchers, or pressure fighters? And do you think there’s an influx of a specific style in kickboxing(it seems like pressure fighters dominate).

Izzy will be a great video but next could you do Samart petrosyan or Deckers? I like how you talk about Kickboxing and Muay thai
