There is no H&G2. And never will be. Once H&G servers shut down, I can finally be free and move on with my life.
Well, actually they said, theyre gonna try to find investor. I doubt they will be able to... but well
Love hate relationship huh? 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah we are free now but i am still😢😢😢😢
Nah. We definetly won't see a h&g 2. The Kickstarter is actively losing money lol
fr highest i saw it was 180k now its below 100k
@@makarov718 Yeah 80 000 now.
@@BoogieBoyCharlie yeah last time i checked it was 98 like a week ago, its actively going down
Good let's not invest in a bottomless pit that won't spew anything out. Only swallows.
@@beertlont776 the Kickstarter disappeared.
I loved H&G back in the day. Watching Kotton and Old Man Smithers back then was a core part of my childhood and I hope that they don’t mess up the game too badly because of that
True, Kotton made some real good content with that game
Damn I almost forgot Kotton
Kotton and Smithers GTFOd early, they saw the writing on the wall
they cant mess up the game since theres no heroes and generals 2
True, there is only one. + Heroes and Generals 2 will never get such a big amount of players or payments like the original game did...
feb 2013 player here, played daily. Was always involved in clan fights and huge clashes operations over time. Took days with offensive and counter-offensives. The game is FPS but has also WAR consistence. This means it has a RTS campaign map where players can move units around the map to reinforce their battles. 10 years played this game daily. Never got bored, i got tired by old graphics, but bored? never. This game is a hidden gem if done properly and remade in a new engine. But needs developers with vision!
Just play Enlisted. It's the closest you can get.
@@hellcatdave1 I mean... WW2 Online/Chokepoint?
@@hellcatdave1 Enlisted doesn't have the RTS stuff. Other than that, yeah i just play Enlisted.
Yup it is so unique, no matter of bad graphic and some wooden mechanics
@@hellcatdave1 nope, enlisted look good, but it is totally boring, repetitive and way too easy game
seriously gonna miss this game. Been playing it since 2012 and every year i come back to it on and off. It has gameplay that no other game provides right now and it's gonna be a shame that it will cease to exist.
Aside from the commander role, there really wasn't much opportunity to really play it in an RTS fashion and so it really plays like a lot of other ww2 shooters out there on the market.
Enlisted seems to be filling the gap nicely. At least for me.
It's not actual gameplay footage... it's tossed together assets to show a demo of what it could be. If they already made the game, they wouldn't need funds...
So many good memories from 2012 to 2018 with Devils Brigade ! I wish I can go back in time and play with the same crew all over again 😭
I hate discussion of graphics in game. Whether it's a selling point by the devs or a criticism by reviewers, I feel it detracts way too much from the important features that actually make a game fun - mechanics, development, and accessibility. There's enough people still playing early 2000s shooters to tell you that it doesn't matter how realistic the game looks or how fancy the newest engine is, it's about making a game that's *fun* .
One thing I never look at when buying a game is graphics I've never cared about them good graphics don't make a good game. I still have just as much fun playing games like Dino Crisis 2, Call of Duty Big Red One, Brothers in Arms, Combat Mission, and SOCOM US Navy SEAL's, on my Playstation 2 as I did when I was a kid.
I remember buying the PPSH when the game came out and just sweated the small map with the building in the middle was like a CQB style map or something like that was pretty fun back then
p2w powerr XD
Man when I first got the M1 Carbine it made such a huge difference in gameplay compared to the M1 Garand.
I acc had a decent fire rate to go and rush objectives and do CQB effectively, the gun had pretty good sights and decent damage for mid-long range shots.
H&G had this kind of charm about it that's just so unique and I just don't feel that with H&G 2
I like how vehicle floating and spin around in this game, overall, the game physics and animation make this game funny af, looks goosey let me have good time play it
All the "gameplay" footage was made using purchased assets that's why it looks so bad
It’s unfortunate that they’re shutting down the servers. There’s still a good amount of people playing on there. I wish they’d keep the servers up until the next game is ready to go.
thing i like the most in this game is how you can cram copious amount of people in/on your vehicle. It's sad that they're done for good but it is what it is.
FYI after the first "QnA" video from TLM which was an utter disaster the Kickstarter dropped by 100k dollars... Glad to see that people are starting to understand how horrible these "devs" really are.
I played H&G a lot. Got involved in a lot of clans and enjoyed how the game allowed for some great gameplay and fun times. I don’t like how they aren’t going to transfer any of our progression over, as if our loyalty to this old game meant nothing to them. After the new game was announced, it was dead to me. The grind simply finished. I moved onto playing enlisted, which I encourage many others to do as well.
Enlisted is the real evolution for HG
@@adlerwolf. totally agree, now all is needed is the RTS mode and it will feel like real war
@@elliotstein7587 With the RTS all the Heroes players would come.
I haven't played that much, but concept of this game is really unique. Character system, progression, and most importantly - strategic element to it, meaning battles were different each time. Not balanced "each team has infantry, two tanks and two planes", but sometimes enemies had tanks and you didn't. And you knew there are some guys behind that battle conditions.
But it best left as a sweet memory.
i've returned to the H&G until it shuts down, and its unbelieveable how many players there are. Constant war battles raging across the map and full servers.. its incredible. I don't know how dare they shut it down with such population
Moneh ?
They haven't made any money on the title since 2016 and even then they only made a million $ or less. Since then they have been losing money even in 2021/21 which was the year of gaming.
@@pershing3346 they are only lost money because they didnt dedidacte it to the game, they take all for themselves with overpaid wages.
Dont buy their lies, its pretty cheap to run a server on a game of that type.
But since greed always was the engine of their actions they prefer to burn everything than stay.
For a beers and bros afternoon I loved heros and generals, some good laughs more often than not at the game engine!
2018 was just a disaster and had some crazy stuff. Tank tipping with Civi trucks was always so much fun!
@@oppressedgamer5599 I feel most of my top gaming memories are caused by buggering about with vehicles
I have around 3500 hour gameplay in this game and ngl we always complained about engine problem to devs but best they done was just adding some shit colors to vehicles and giving sale with golds only, atleast good to know their second game ain't going to be successful like their first game
used to be one of the best pilot in the game , played all faction maybe 5 K plus hours , great game overall but always terrible devs and terrible management and marketing around it , lots of pay to win stuff and ppl at Reto were mostly there for the money. Sad to see it go though there is no other game like that with FPS and strategy together.
H&G was once of my favorite games. I really appreciate that they want to do it looking better, but H&G 2 looks HORRIBLE!Menu doesn't look that bad, but gameplay looks just bad! I don't know how they created something looking that bad on UE5! They could just change game engine and remake it a lil' bit. But they done something like this...
[*] for H&G
I hope you realize that all they're doing is trying to pocket a couple of million and that's it. Raise 3 million via Kickstarter (will likely not happen), put a fraction, no more than 50-100k, into doing a bad port job and then go "Oh noes! We're so sorry! Here's a new battle pass and drip feed content, we'll swear that we'll improve the game!", to get even more out of suckers who are willing to pay for the pass and other MTX. You're better off just getting BF1 or some other game, like Rising Storm or maybe even Insurgency, and play that. None of those may match H&G perfectly, but they're a good alternative.
To me, H&G was a spiritual successor to W: Enemy Territory, and Enlisted looks like its set to be a spiritual successor to H&G.
Btw, Enemy Territory is BACK, still free, on steam, with dedicated servers and anti cheat.
The concept of H&G was great, and I enjoyed playing it as much as I could. But it was so uncomfortable to control with the jank that made it feel like an FPS on the Gamecube.
Well for the most part i can say this. One the community is in a rage againts TLM just go look at the steam discussion page. So far i can make out a lot of h&g content creators were very pumped and hyped after having a private Q&A session with the devs. So most youtube comments were deleted and so on but as you pointed out the dislike ratio still says a lot!!!
Secondly The super funny part is that after h&g devs held a Q&A session about a day ago they lost about 70 000$ on kickstarter. From about 185 000$ to 115 000$.
In the meantime it has dived further: now below 95k, which is less than they had within 24h of the campaign launching. it's safe to say the kickstarter has been a complete disaster and i doubt we will ever see HnG2, even if they claim to be "looking at other options". Just let it die, no one wants this game, lol
I think the graphics look fine, not the best, but honestly that's not high on my list of priorities. I'd be more concerned with the fact they're asking for 2 million USD for a free-to-play game when we all know that they're going to cram it with microtransactions and grind to milk it for every penny that they can. Who in their right mind would crowdfund such a project?
The people who want to relive the nostalgia ig
Why would anyone "enjoy" the free to play aspect of a game? It's pretty much a buzzword to justify making a game into microtransaction hell or an endless grind. Only a few games have pulled it off without being actual cancer and those mostly started out as full price titles.
despite what you say, the game hasn't made a consistent profit in many a year. The devs have pretty much made an echo chamber on the video so only who agrees with the devs will be seen, and a lot of the great community staff members have been kicked out for some more........shady individuals. I know one promotes NFTs.
the only time this game made anywhere near a good profit on a year on basis was when Russia was released.....
if you want a good H&G style game to play.........go with Enlisted. this (Heroes) has potential, but it's being wasted by devs that just want a good buck
Simple reason why the game failed. The Devs got GREEDY. Everything cost credits. You gotta pay for bullets, for repairing your scope, repairing your spring.... Also, everything costs a ridiculous amount. OG Heroes and Generals was actually free to play and NOT pay to win. You could unlock everything at a reasonable grind. No stupid repairing your guns spring, trigger, all this bs
It should be hated! Live service games should not get sequels because the whole idea is that the game just gets updated sooooooo
The cheating, a team based game wo vc, and horrible balance, especially the M1 Carbine for the US players was just annoying to deal with.
Wonder if the H&G player base will go to enlisted after the servers end
Likely will as its the closest to Hero's and Generals and is actively being updated.
Is most of this video's audio in the right side or is it just me?
I played H&G when it released. Nothing like it back then. The "freemium" model was frustrating but there isn't a f2p shooter with the same kind of progression that was so satisfying, but in a ww2 environment
TLM bought this dumpster fire from RETO last year in February if i recall..
-RETO made off like a bandit, leaving a shit-stain on the gaming community with their money syphoning and lack of updates for years..
-TLM tried to add new content, couldn't due to the engine being in-house built by RETO. Making internal coding a total clusterfuck.
*They instead added a battlepass and new skins (something easily done)
-Playerbase CONTINUED to hate what was being added, mistakenly taking TLM as RETO doing updates, which led to a whole slew of problems (especially when it came to answers on the QnA) since people kept asking for updates to the original game, which they blatantly said they couldn't do due to how expensive and time consuming the updates were. *it was far more cost effective to make a whole new game under the same title*
-First QnA completely flopped. No real info was explained, but they **did** say that H&G2 would happen whether the kickstarter happened or not, they did say about that being an end result to look towards. They would just have to go through other means, which they would address closer to the end of the kickstarter (and frankly they probably already are looking into those avenues with how it's going right now lol)
-H&G1 WILL close, whether we want to accept it or not, frankly the playerbase has become so toxic it's better this way....
----player since 2012, the days when you could get 6 people on a BICYCLE and they exploded when shot. good times.
I feel that if they really wanted to make a h&g2 they should've done that years earlier when the game was peaking positively for a bit.
Now it looks like a last ditch attempt to make something
Tbh this game was ALWAYS a pay to win grindfest.
You want to know what is also fucked up?
Them still keeping the DLC's avaible, which without discount cost 1.7 thousand Euro's.
Now that I've heard it's being killed off, I'm kinda missing it
lmao the gameplay trailer already shows how much grinding it has to unlock a binoculars.
Battlefield wannabe is going to fail taxi the game, not listening community feedback, kickstarting is the dumbest thing
If you ever seriously played it, after a few months out of beta, Heroes and Generals became a clunk, nightmarish grindfest. I played for something like 100 hours and literally only got up to the Panzer 1. It is not a good game, and most of us playing it back in the day knew it was absolutely a money grab. This game is gonna be more of the same cynical shit. Just play a good semi-realistic WWII shooter, Hell Let Loose or something else is fuckin LEAGUES better and way more worth time and money investment.
An older game that I really miss playing is Battleground Europe WWII online, I have never played a ww2 shooter that has achieved the scale that older game accomplished whole chunk of western europe was the map with hundreds n hundreds of players fighting along a front with multiple battles up and down it for miles, yeah the graphics were and are dated by today's standards, matches would last week's at a time, it gave you the feeling you were in a ever evolving war
Even for its age it's holding 3 Guinness World Records, and for the realism it's remarkable great, they are in the process of rebuilding the game on Unreal 5 here is a video the channel posted recently th-cam.com/video/VCFLCXbyuxw/w-d-xo.html
Not to mention their newest crowdfunding campaign to port it to UE5. They need our help to make this a reality!
i was gonna write a rly comment but you hit the nail on the head, Resonant... but i wanna add something to solidify the doom of "H&G" - they're using "unreal" (not capitalizing it on purpose), while being partnered with Activision, 2K and Riot??? to top it off - it seems they've lowered the bar from 3mil, down to 2mil... here's my take on all this:
1. "unreal" has a terrible business deal charging huge taxes.
2. Their so called "partners" will charge them exorbitant sums for their "assistance".
3. Them lowering the expected amount probably means they fired people to conserve on pay-checks.
4. They say photo-realistic, yet as you said - the screenshots BARELY look any better.
To me this means 1 thing - they want the money to pay off everything they'll owe, so they they won't bother putting in an effort to make the game better right off the get-go, or even at all. What do you think?
P.S. my original comment was gonna be 3x longer :D :D
Free to play? More like pay 2 win. I still loved it, but damn, if you didnt have a credit card, you just couldn't get ahead in the grind
Game used to be fun, but they quickly ruined the game. Tried playing again a while ago now and it was absolutely horrible compared to what it used to be.
Got into HnG Cause of Kotton and FrankieonPC. And enjoyed it a ton. Didnt care for the monetization style, and would have rathered dropped 30 dollars on a purchase for it and having less of a grind, then the huge grind and end up having to pay to get to what i wanted. I enjoyed its graphics cause you had to look for targets, and there wasnt a ton of UI floating around on screen, and frankly hate that they're chasing cod and battlefield in that sense, And im not excited for the idea of them also pushing to consoles. Overall this just seems like a cash grab against people who had the nostalgia of having fun in the Original. Still watch Schilli's video's from time to time for the laughs. Map size was great, Never really felt like a fly in a jar on any of them. Always wished they would have gone bigger like planetside or arma.
My friend spend alot of money on HnG (years of playing) and now..... hearing they will shit it down.
He wasn't happy 😬, at all
Eh...the title is a Misleading and presented with tons of incorrect info...
1. H&G2 does not exist yet
the game has yet been made and it is still in concept/design stage
2. The Kickstarter Video is a demo for the Unreal engine 5 and not the game itself
it's nothing more than a Background concept gameplay tbh
3. TLM took over RETO studio
RETO management was failing, TLM took over H&G1 roughly 1 year ago, they extended H&G's lifespan for about 1 year already, which 2021 H&G is suppose to die and shut down forever
4. DLCs and Battlepass
DLCs was when H&G1 was still in RETO's hands where they desperately need money to keep the servers up, this comes across as nothing more than Lazy "Pay 2 Skip" to play the game
Battlepass was when H&G1 was took over by TLM, where they tried to make the game as profitable to keep up the server/development which the end result is Sunsetting it
5. the Choice of closing H&G1 was due to how Unprofitable the game is and too much Technical difficulty on trying to work with it + pushing the limit of how the game engine can do
If you're some random outsider, here's something you need to know about H&G1
H&G was made back in 2012, when the era of F2P games on Web browser was popular, however soon enough Web browser gaming has not been an ideal way to develop, therefore the game has to become standalone title itself, If you do not know any Standalone game, some games actually requires some messy method to get the game working on your PC
H&G1 uses Retox engine, an In-house gaming engine that RETO made themselves back in the era where EVERY Game studio wants their own game engine instead of paying a License fee to other companies to lend out their Game engine, With this in-house gaming engine, it could not be achieved as a User Menu UI, therefore RETO decided to use FLASH Engine, yes that Outdated FLASH that died not long ago as its Menu UI and many many other more tiny addons to the game itself
As you can see, just Retox aka an In-house engine + FLASH engine, you need to hire and train Developers to work and get familiar with these two main engine alone
Now the biggest trouble of them all, Their Dev tool for H&G1 was rented out...which means that they need to spend money for the license to use the Dev tools to do edit work in H&G itself which is DUMB
After TLM took over for about 1 year, what do you think the most ideally situation is? maintaining the current Bullshit of money losing cycle? hiring people just to train on a dogshit outdated in-house game engine that uses your "CPU" as a gaming processor?
Of course it is to shut it down completely and rebuild it, yet somehow EVERYONE thought it's their fault for shutting the game down without realizing "Man this game is old as fuck" and "why they don't just made a better sequel by now?"
At the end of the day, H&G2 will be put aside for now since the Kickstarter really didn't see much success and people don't have trust in TLM claiming them to be a Renamed RETO studio and say "they don't have enough transparency" despite them being one of the more transparent gaming company out there compare to other gaming companies, no one ask if 343 is making Halo6 or Activision about where's the Next COD title at or even EA on their Battlefield.
Okay now, if you have read to the end and ask me "why should I believe your word?"
You don't need to believe my words, however I'm just giving a different point of view to how majority sees vs what actually happened to H&G1, it's all in the H&G discord.
HG player base droping due to not adding good updates and that's why they want to make new game
Dam, played this for 2123 hours, it was fun, sad to see it go
Nice thumbnail. Good use of Ai Art, got me clicking on the video at least and i havn't touched H&G since it came out of beta.
Wth for me the gunplay has got to feel and look good but the animations made me think it was a mobile game... The guns are so tiny too lol
Things aren't looking too sharp now that the kickstarter failed miserably... If we ever get HG 2, shouldn't expect it to come anytime soon.
Anyone else think HG1 looks better then HG2's gameplay footage? Like you ask for money with an extremely shitty first impression of a supposed sequels gameplay and think that's good enough to say "yEaH sHiP iT, LoOkS gOoD."
Like nah forget it Enlisted may have a grind that spans 5 years of your life but fuck at least it looks good, granted most things were probably taken from War thunder and that battle royal I completely forgot about - but still made the game decent in most aspect yet here's HG2 looking like some bought a bunch of UE5 WW2 Store assets and made a game out of it.
The only thing i hate is microtransaction that greatly reduced it's gaming experience. Imagine fighting a freakin tank while your team is only armed with rifle and grenade
I remember playing this game years ago and absolutely loved every bit of it. This game felt both competitive and casual I can't even explain it. It no longer has that touch to it, but I'll always remember this game as one of my favourites. I literally have every tank unlocked for both factions and all the badges I grinded out didn't even feel like a grind because I was having so much fun doing it. Fuck I miss this game in its prime.
It's amazing when the guy says "everything you're seeing right now.. all made in Unreal", it''s like everyone watchins was going "OMG!!! I THOUGHT THIS WAS REAL LIFE!!!" lol
Was a great game back in the day! I loved the grind.
I backed it at launch but after their first Q&A where they couldnt answer basic questions and were ignoring people, then ended the stream early I cancelled. Shame. Played since 2012.
Played it from 2014ish to 2020 😭
they work with Activision too
well say good bye then
you know what i meant right :)
I remember playing this game back in HS, but the 2nd game honestly looks like a Chinese mobile game lmao
2016 is “back in the day now?” 😐
Bruh i Feel old
@Lefevre Corinne Same I still feel like 2017 was only 2 or 3 years ago not six holy shit
played it for a good 10 years and just gone back to it before it shuts down, me and my buddies used to make videos on it aswell so many great memories
I always hated the color palette of the game
Never supported the game and didn't like that hit points popping up.
I remember when I finally got my Hellcat TD I was so happy .
The footage in this video is older footage, from a build that didn't take much time to scrap up and on a it was on a really small budget. Now I'm not defending them, because it is a bit stupid what they're doing, but people complaining and making their negative opinions over pre-alpha footage is even more stupid. You're not even giving the remaster a chance if your critiquing this footage. If you are a fan of the original game, then maybe look past the budget, and past the pre-alpha footage, and focus on what it could become. I personally don't care for this game, because no one is giving it a chance, but I wish people would.
I just want h&g 1 back. We can deal with its faults if this is the only and last one in a long time or never.
the pay2win model was the main downfall
The fact that they don’t transfer your money or vehicles etc its a turn off
a classic case of a big company taking over a game. trys strangle out as much money they can
The new UE5 footage looks like Call of Duty 3 footage from 2006
Dude i hope it will be actually like original heroes and generals but with better graphics and being put on consoles too with cross play, be able to choose to fight for germany and vichy france with my buddies
They probably shouldve taken it to another front, like the Pacific
I feel like the sequel will fall into the pit of the generic ww2 games.
H&G had a certain feeling and a very specific look that no other game had, when you look at the game, you know exactly what I mean.
I don't want that to be gone. The goofiness of H&G was the reason I kept playing the game eversince it came out.
They could have kept the servers up or give us the possiblity of community servers.
I left a long time ago and never looked back. If anyone was wondering Enlisted is the new game for me.
I'll reserve my judgement for release day, assuming that day ever arrives.
please fix the audio in this video. it is only in my right ear and sounds awfully full of bass. dont process your mind in stereo, process it in mono. thank you
this looks like it was put together in unity with free assets
I remember playing the game way back and it just felt...off...maybe it's because it was in beta(which lasted for way too long) but it didn't really feel solid. I actually think older ww2 shooters and games are leagues better than more modern ones(the cod series,Battlefield an its mods aswell as red orchestra 1 and 2)
Played this game back when it first came to Steam... loved it because it was different. What they look to be making now is disgusting, and honestly an embarrassment to the name. RIP H&G
I was a very loyal player, since February 2018, and it is very sad how they have thrown this game away, first that they never exploited all the potential it had, it could have been a game like Battlefield without having to pay shitty subscriptions for a nameless company and despot like EA, they could have added a lot of base things to the game, many more maps and game modes, I don't know, it saddens me how stupid these developers are
Same maps, unbalance between factions and botched matchmaking killed this game
I also enjoyed playing Heroes and Generals and don’t want the servers to shut down.
The gameplay from H&G 2 looks like an unreal engine assets flip.
I got a feeling my PC is gonna cry trying to play this...
Hero and general 1? Barely played it and had more fun on enlisted
If they fixed all the clunk, and managed to bring back original game play I'm down for it
Also, photoreal doesn't mean videoreal - the animations look like ass, especially in a post-modern-warefare-2019 environment
The sequel is dead. TLM no longer exist, it got bought by some software company that has nothing to do with video games. RIP h&g.
Sad because I was curious to try heroes and generals. Well, at least I have Hell Let Loose and Enlisted.
I haven't seen any of your videos since banner Lord came out
Wait, why are all the H&G lovers hating on a new H&G game? I dont get it. I'm glad that they're making a H&G game on Unreal Engine 4.
I dont know if its right to describe the original H&G as successful.
Yes, After this the game has finally ended. May 25 2023 yesterday . I played this game since 2017 it was ok new and improved games don't have the same feel to them and well upgrading this game was a whole other story. Destine for failure without funding and advances in game play respectfully. A lot of people have survivors of Ww2 in there family and well the super game player was not needed for this game it was just a way to give some input on how we the later generation perceived it. Thanks
Hope they make a playable game. Have had a lot of fun playing H & G WW2, although it often gave me headaches and made me rant in chat!
I remember playing this game back then only to get the tank, but yeah till today i still didn't have the chance 😂
hey as long as i can pay to one hit people from 200 meters , and drive a vehicle that is invincible to any one who didnt pay to win, im happy!
I want to point out that your Audio is not balanced. Its like 47% Left and 53% right. Its very subtle.
The kickstarter failed :(
