Each one of those handmade quilts is like a piece of art. The charities must be able to charge far more for the quilts than if someone just makes a charitable cash donation. It's such a smart idea and everyone is happy with the outcome. The buyer gets a beautiful quilt to use for years and the charity gets the proceeds from the sale. Win - win. 🙂

Thanks, they raffle them. My quilts raise around 500€ each for the animals.

My favourite quilts to make are scrap quilts, I love looking at them and seeing all the material from other quilts I’ve made in them. I’ve been quilting for 30 years now, and I have given away most of my quilts except the scrap ones. I’ve also taught my friends how to quilt as well, we sometimes have quilting get togethers and just sew and chat, it’s a cheap way of spending time with each other and sharing our work, ideas and patterns.

Hello from sicily. I am a canadian living here for over thirty years now. You got great buys and your quilt is beautiful. Here there are no thrift shops , and fabric is so exspensive . When i can i will order online from the states or england. My love for quilting is what keeps me sane. Just found your channel and looking forward to more videos.

I just saw this video featured whilest checking out the supposed heatwave in uk next week! (Last week in September) saw the gorgeous postage stamp quilt and started to watch.
I keep all my scraps and make all sorts of blocks/quilts and currently making a muted coloured vintage style strip quilt.
Very easy to watch your video with great tips.
Your sewing is lovely and the fabric haul was amazing! Loved the varieties of colours you had, great bargain.
Came over to u tube and subbed immediately!

Great job on the fabric haul!! As a quilter I appreciate quilt quality fabric. I have been retired bout 1.5 years and I am working on sewing through the stash. Except for having to buy the odd border or backing I will not have to buy much fabric. I too give my quilts away. I derive so much pleasure and contentment in the construction and then in giving them away I cannot put a price in that contentment. I love it when my adult children ask for a quilt that they can give as a baby gift. I usually have several complete that they can choose from. It is an expensive hobby but with careful shopping, one I have been able to enjoy for 23.😊

Fabric isn’t a bad price in France. Certainly more expensive in the U.K. I’ve been quilting for more years than I care to remember. I’ve had quilts at the NEC in the U.K. and another that went all round the U.K. and the Loire valley. Mind you , that was a good few years ago now. I think one was a mariners compass quilt (NEC) and the other was sparkly fabric which was a nightmare to sew that was half square triangles arranged in a zigzag pattern which was made for a Grosvenor publications challenge. I have so much fabric you would not believe. I saved for my retirement and I have plenty to be working on over the next few years. A lot of mine go to charities - mainly animal ones.

Oh Jane the quilting fabrics are so beautiful! The red quilt that you plan on making caught my eye and all I could think of was "strawberry cream". It looked like the perfect summer quilt, so lovely, romantic and sweet. Loved this video so much. Sewing makes me want to tear my hair out but I really love quilts. Yours are stunning. That postage stamp quilt is to die for. Awesome video! Could you share for a different video sometime about your sewing and quilting machines maybe? I would be interested in knowing what you have and why you chose them, how they work, etc. Thank you for sharing.

I would love to see the quilts you make from these fabrics in future videos. Thanks for sharing and all your frugal reflections

What a beautiful quilt! You chose some lovely fabrics, and I like that you shared the fact that you do not buy all your fabric new. Most people would be put off by quilting or another sewing hobby that uses a lot of fabric because new fabric is costly. But, you have shown that these hobbies can be done in a thrify manner. Thank you for using your quilts to help charitable organizations raise the funds they need.

Love the postage stamp quilt! Great scrap buster! You got some amazing deals on the fabric and the rotating cutting mat! Prices in France for new, shop purchased fabrics are definitely a greater value than the US. The last time I was in a quilting shop the quilting fabric was 12.95-16.95 per yard and a set of 42 piece 2 1/2 inch wide strips by width of fabric (typically 42 - 44 inches wide) 'jelly roll' mix of fabric coordinated by the same designer was 42.95-47.95 each. Fat quarters range from 3.95-6.95 each. Crazy I know. It's been over 2 years since I went to any quilting shops (I have plenty of fabric to keep me in or out of trouble for quit some time). 😂

Those fabrics are beautiful, it must be exciting imagining all the different designs together. My favourites are the red and blue fabrics as I adore gingham and the cottagey look it can bring to a room. I had to smile when I saw your predominantly white background fabrics as I am actually looking at the fabric you pulled out after the roses fabric. It's my favourite Ikea bedding which is currently on my bed.I didn't think I would enjoy this vlog as much, as I'm not a quilter but as always you made the topic so interesting - a lovely peaceful way to spend part of my Sunday afternoon.
