Cheyenne Camping Center is the BEST RV dealership in the country, hands down! Just traveled from Seattle WA to buy from them and it was the best sales experience I have ever had! Honest, straight forward and exceptional quality of service!
Ya they are great! I love how they hammer on other dealerships to make them look better. Sweet!
@@shawnnewman7512 But they actually are though. They've got the goods and prices and service to back up their statements.
Where's It located?
@@johnrandall8075 Walcott Iowa! Well worth the drive from anywhere in the country! They do shipping as well or you can use uShip to save money.
@@shawnnewman7512 Butt hurt much?
I am a traveling Superintendent for a construction company and I live out of hotels most of the time. so I figured rather than pack up my belongings every time they moved me to a job it would be cheaper and more comfortable to buy an RV. So I went to a Camping World lot in Greenwood, Ind and sat down with the Salesman. I proceeded to tell him that my company had paid around $15,000.00 for me to stay in hotels and that i was looking to purchase something in that price range. The response I got was "we don't have any thing new in that price range and we don't get many trades" At that point I could see that they were not interested in my 15,000. so I got up to leave, funny thing was he suddenly remembered he had something coming in I may be interested in, he took down my info and said he would call and send pictures....he never did. So I felt that they were just scamming to sell new and I wrote them an e-mail telling them that i had never been treated so poorly by an establishment in the RV industry in my life. The response was rapid, as soon as I hit send a bot responded with questions... one of the first was what is your phone #. I gave it to them. Soon I was called by customer service (lol) the name she gave was Amy she said she was a corporate customer service rep. and ask what she could do to rectify the situation...I told her there was nothing she could do ...if you aren't interested in my money someone will be...we hung up...within 5 minutes one of the sales managers from the Greenwood, Ind. called and apologized and said he didn't understand how a salesman could say that because most of their inventory was 15,000 or under and that he would appreciate the opportunity to show me what they had available. So shortly after that I called the store with a blocked phone number and spoke to another Salesman that said they didn't really have any 15,000 dollar RV's on the lot but that he had several @ 17,000 if I was interested. At that point I realized hotels are not that bad inconvenient maybe ....but much better than dealing with thieves. Then I saw your video and all the statements you made the salesman made. So thank you for this forum and good luck ...Corporate America sucks.
Thank you so much for your help and comment
Great video. We went to camping world this weekend and it was the worst high pressure, monthly payment only tactics I've ever experienced. After 20 minutes, my wife demanded we leave. What a terrable place!
Started to buy one from Camping World five years ago. When I declined the extended warranty, I was told that because it was a demo unit, there was no factory or dealer warranty on it. Cancelled the sale and walked out. What I've learned about Camping World tactics and service since then - some from two former employees, certainly make me feel walking away from them was the right thing to do. Thank you for the video.
This should be mandatory viewing for anyone even remotely interested in any kind of camping equipment.
Retired in 2016. Wife and I decided to get back into camping we enjoyed when the kids were young. Started our search on line. Came up on a camping world site. The advertisement was for a 2018 14’ Starcraft AR1. The big text price offered it for 9998. That’s what drew me in. Well we had some cash and I contacted camping world. I wanted to pay cash for the 9998. I thought I might gain some additional discount for the cash instead I was informed that was not a cash price. I was told if I wanted to pay cash the price would be 14888. I told the sales person that’s not how it works. You offer cash the price goes down not up. He informed me the 9998 price was a special finance deal thru camping world. I informed him I was done dealing with them now or in the future. Went back on line and found a used 2016 Starcraft 14’ AR1 for 8000 cash at Parkway Campers out of Westminster, SC. They completely went over the camper before the purchase and made sure everything worked. A Mom and Pop outfit that takes care of the customer. We dodged a bullet!
I worked for Camping World for about three years. Never in my 20 years working in the auto motive/recreational vehicle career have I witnessed the kind of things that happened there.
From the down right incompetence of management (our GM was a legitimate alcoholic who drank on the job daily and rarely upheld any promises) to a constant flow of under qualified employees working on RV’s.
For example, to be a technician at Camping World, you legitimately need NO certification and only minimal ‘handyman’ experience.
While we did have a few trained/certified techs, many were not.
We also had a high turn over rate.
It was common to see the guys in the recon department woefully underpaid and lacking the devices/tools needed to correctly do their jobs.
For instance, they would charge customers over a thousand plus dollars to detail their RV’s (included in the purchase price) and would demand that employees detail an entire RV within a few hours. While they were paid a whopping $10 an hour. That’s TWO dollars less than what Dunkin Donuts pays here!
Better yet, when a female detailer came on the team...she had equal experience but was paid $8 an hour.
Often we would see people come in and spend easily over $500+ to detail their RV and they would get nothing but a quick wash.
Customers would also be upsold on various ‘paint protection’ chemicals that would NOT be applied, better yet...if they did, it would be an extremely cheap spray foam that anyone could easily do at home with a regular hose and $25.
I also never witnessed someone fully redeem their paint and protection policy. Customers ALWAYS had to pay more.
The best parts were when people from their corporate offices would come up and literally hold a big meeting with everyone...
Where they would belittle, intimidate and literally threaten employees.
I verbatim recall when he said that the techs would NO longer be paid for RV inspections (causing the techs who were flat rate, to rush their inspections even more) and when a tech spoke up about how they were essentially working for free then...he was then informed (in verbatim) ‘then you can get your shit, and get the hell out of here’ .
Knowing that there were little jobs for RV techs in our state of NH.
I could go on and on, but this is just a taste of what I witnessed.
From sexual harassment claims (multiple against the same person for instance) that went unheard and even the manager getting an employee pregnant during their secret affair (while he was married) and even giving her a promotion!
(This is before the secret got out)
If you EVER need someone to come on and give a testimony, with proof, I would love to go into detail.
I have nothing to hide, and will gladly show my face and let everyone know the truth.
Also, I met Marcus once. I had an interesting experience with him too.
FYI The Camping World I worked at use to be a private dealer with a well known reputation.
Within a year of Camping World buying them, that reputation was destroyed.
Eric, I commend you for being honest and up front, maybe it will save people from there ways. They did just what they normally do, come to town, buy out a local dealer and trash the reputation. I live in Hamburg NY, I can walk to the Camping world store from my house and would never buy an RV from them. a matter of fact I just bought a new RV from a place over an hour from my house. All the local dealers are crap.
I did stop by one of there remote shows to see models and floor plans and for the hell of it I sat down to see what they had to say, lets say that conversation lasted 5 minutes, using there low price to suck you in is nothing but lies, but yet so many get sucked into it.
When they came to town and bought out the local reputable dealer they actually shut the doors 2 years later so they could fire all the staff from the previous dealer, to only open there store at the same spot 1 year later with all there own sleasy staff.
Eric D wow! It took you three years to leave with what you saw?
@@flyboybobio3431 Maybe, just maybe, if he hadn't been there for 3 years, he wouldn't have seen all of that.
My daughter and I were dressing to go to Manassas to look and buy a camper for me to live in( with cash) on their property. Sure glad I ran across this page. No CW for this old bat.
What was the experience with Marcus?
We bought a new RV from Cheyenne Camping center in March of 2016 and this gentleman is spot on. We were treated exactly as he said by them and in fact drove from Idaho to Iowa to pick it up. Great honest folks! I applaud his willingness to step forward and take risk to protect his industry.
What a world it would be, if we could all act on principle without considering the risks. Your support makes it all worthwhile.
Thank you
I recently found a Cougar Travel Trailer on CW for $24,995! However, their salesman sent me a quote and here's what they added on:
Doc Prep Fee= $399
Set Up= $1495
Transport= $1850
Licensing= $525
That an additional total of $4269!!
Will NOT be going here!
I am a 27 yr old female about to buy my first RV and I’m so glad I had seen this video.
God Bless You
Thank you
I was looking for a rv at camping world but after seeing this video I will go elsewhere. Thanks for the great video.
Same for me
Thank you for speaking out.. I also was taken at Camping world. I wanted a used 2014 B+ Pleasure-way I drive 2K miles to pick up and purchase with cash in hand. Had the price and the deal nailed down. The sale person make one error , I made sure he stated in the last e-mail the detail of the deal , so when. they pulled that line I had to take loan, I placed the e-mail document on the managers desk, he called the sale person in. This salesman came in and for ever the reason he stool by me. The manager was so mad you could see him , giving the salesman the LOOK.. Anyway it was a ruff sale , the worse I ever have experience I have to say. The good news is the RV unit we purchased was in great shape and so far we are happy. However you are correct WHEN SAYING: STAY AWAY FROM CAMPING !!!! They are the worse ...
We have taken our fifthwheel into camping world for repairs thinking that the name had such high regards, well they tried to screw us but only got us for a single tire. When we took our RV in we had an aftermarket warranty that covered everything we took it in for, they tried to charge us for rags, solvents, grease etc.. in the tune of 250.00! then they tried to charge us shipping on everything that they repaired for all the parts, one shipping was $700.00. They damaged our RV not once but twice and had it for well over 3 months for repairs. We have friends who bought their RV at camping world NEW and can't get them to fix anything as camping world says it's not their problem. We never ever recommend Camping world to anyone but to support the mom and pop shops out there. Camping world Birmingham, Alabama is who tried to screw us on our repairs. Matter of fact, we took the service manager in the garage to inspect our RV and in front of all his employees we told him what a piece of crap he was and that any of his subordinates should be doing his job and he should be FIRED! they all looked with smiles. Anyway, they still owe us a tire from their faulty repairs and never heard back from them, 100 bucks is way better than some of you who have written on here, so we are good we got away almost unscathed. If anyone is in Birmingham camping world, go to the service counter and ask for Taylor, you will see first hand what cocky and arrogant looks like.
Kudos brother! I SUPPORT YOU AND YOUR DEALERSHIP! YOU ARE 100% SPOT ON AND PROVIDING MUCH NEEDED INFORMATION TOO SO MANY RV consumers. Been in this business 16 years and folks deserve a fair deal Always! Thank you sir! I'm Josh Bedsaul # 3 RVIA Certified technician in the US, and service manager at RVs Unlimited in Robertsdale Alabama, just one more alternative to the corporate option in RV ownership and service. We got your back sir!
With nothing better to do one day we stopped at a Camping World store just out of the Gulf Shores area in Alabama (we were on vacation) . I have been high pressured by sales people before, but these guys at Camping World gave new meaning to high pressure. I don't know how many times my wife and I said we were just killing some time and wanted to look at some RV's. That didn't seem to register in this guys mind. He just kept up with the "blitz krieg" tactics and after 30 minutes of this I finally asked him what part of we are just looking around don't you understand. He kept on smiling and asked just what he had to do to get us into a new RV. That's when we walked out on him in mid sentence. We still by some of our supplies at Camping World but under no circumstances would we ever enter the lot to look at the RV's.
We were looking at Thor RVs, and found one for about $115K that met our needs and wants. First, they never would allow us to test drive it. We currently own an RV the same length, registered to us, that could be confirmed with DMV. And the salesman could have gone with us. But we were told it would never happen. Then they wanted to go in the office and talk financing. Without even a test drive? I told them no way. Then they told us our existing RV was only going to get us a $6500 credit. Excuse me? It’s an anniversary edition, with new wood flooring a newly rebuilt front end and new shocks. They acted shocked that I said they were crazy because it Blue Booked well over 35K. We walked across the street to a place called Royal Coach. The salesperson we got said he used to work for CW and had to leave as he just couldn’t do things how they wanted him to do it. And he had the highest sales of every employee, yet they didn’t want him to properly disclose and be honest with his customers. He suggested we wait until we have sold our existing RV, and for us to obtain our own financing before we come back, if we choose to buy from his current employer. Not that they were like CW, but because it was better financially for us. I told my husband that is where we will go when we get our ducks in a row.
I have been planning for a year to buy an RV. Watching many videos. Thanks for this one.
I don't think this guy likes Camping World.
If he was treated bad, he has a right to complain and warn others. I'm glad you were treated fair! Too many aren't! 😢
Who likes a thief
It's clearly actors...his acting is atrocious
We are going to be full-time RVing, so watching all the videos to learn all the pros and cons. Thanks for sharing!
Some time back, we saw a fifth wheel at an rv show, and thought we would visit a Camping World to see the inventory. When we said we were just looking, we couldn’t even get someone to unlock some rugs, or put the slides out on others. We were ignored! A salesman told me that I “wanted a Montana, they are the best-selling rigs out there”. Yet, he wouldn’t let us inside a couple, because we said we weren’t buying that day. After we left, we called the manager to report the salesman, who knew exactly who we meant.
The receptionist there was a sweetheart, and we told the manager THAT, too. Too bad she was working for sleazeballs.
That EXACT thing just happened to us at the local Camping World. I've heard the rumblings but decided to just go look. Told them we were just looking "well there are a lot of trailers out there! What do you want? "Well, I dunno, that's why I want to browse and see." "Ok, well most of them are locked." and walked away. So we only got to see in some. The other dealership we went to had every trailer unlocked and ready for viewing.
As an RV salesman myself, please bring your own set of keys next time
@cubangringolife - you took the words out of my mouth. Many people don't know that the door handle locks all use the same key. The dead bolt locks are keyed differently.
I'm a first time RV buyer, you're warning about camping world just saved me over paying 15k on a new travel trailer that was on "a huge private sale" at camping world. they tried the same scam and high pressure tactics. thank you
Kudos for helping people make better decisions and not get taken advantage of.
Thank you, our goal is to see all RV buyers have a have a good buying experience, wherever that might be.
I have got to go to CW soon when I have some time to kill just to look at their RVs (I am in the market and just starting to look at different ones) just to mess with them. I am an accountant and will take my laptop on which I have a spreadsheet to plug in the numbers and do pro forma sheets given variables such as rates and finance terms. The car dealers hate me when I do this. I want to hear them try and BS me on the money/financing. My last experience with a scammer like this is when a roofer quoted me $60,000 for a new roof and then with all the "deals" and "discounts" came down to $39,000. Beware when they start quoting prices different from their first or advertised price. By the way, I got the same roof job done for $12,000 - from a different roofer.
Well done! A courageous and helpful video. I too came close to being fleeced by CW on several occasions. I was once told I needed a whole new membrane roof to replace a two year old roof! No other area shop could find a defect in our existing roof! When a local RV sales and service company finally opened a shop next door to CW, I switched my business to them. They said that many, MANY new customers told them the same story. I wished Cheyenne operated in Idaho.
BTW: What happened to the 743 review mentioned at the top of this page? Did CW legal beagles push you around already??
Id like to know the answer to your 743 review question. Hope you get an answer
I am in the process of buying an RV/Trailer. I have been looking and researching.. Finally an honest and honorable person.
i can add to this, Don't go to do business with Canopy Country in Washington state. My 4% finance turned out to be 6.25%, guess who gets the 2.25%. This will run for 180 months and cost me $11,457. It certainly isn't the credit union who holds the contract. Learn a lesson from my loss, do business with a reputable dealer and have your attorney go over the contract before you sign, if the dealer refuses to allow your attorney to read the contract, move, the next dealer can get you the same RV.
Good day to all I just watched this and am so glad I did we have a couple Camping worlds in my area and I was going to go look for a 5th wheel in 4yr when I retire. I know now I will not be going there in stead I will be going south to IA and visiting Cheyenne Camping Center. You just saved me a lot of problems. Again Thank you for putting this out there.
Stay far away from Camping World!
i have been researching alot on youtube and forums to buy a trailer. what u guys have said matches all of the whistle blowers from the other places. there are so many hidden fees and other bullsh@t that it makes rving very scary. now, i feel for the other people whom have made the jump and are now hurt, so i cant relate to them. but, to the many others out there that i know are looking for an honest process, i can show then this video which matches many others that talk about being prepared and ready for the schemers and their lawyer talk to scare u into buying and guilting u when u dont. i almost bought from a dealer that wasnt camping world but they made a comment during the process that they were owned by them. it does make me sick. good on u for staying strong and i will be sharing and subscribing.
The RV industry needs more people like you sir, thanks for raising the curtain on these flim flam men
Cheyecamping center is amazing!!! I’m driving there to purchase a 26RR grey wolf toy hauler in a week from Oklahoma. I know two other people that have done the same. I appreciate you folks. The same campers in Oklahoma are $7,000.00 to 10,000.00 more expensive.
I live in Arizona however, if I buy a travel trailer it will be from this man in this video. God Bless you sir!!👍🙏
I just bought one from Cheyenne today. They are exactly as described in the video!! Our experience has been phenomenal. They are worth the trip
Thank you Kevin for making this video. We are independent Used RV Dealer in business for over 52 years located within 10 miles of a CW store and I can verify this video is 100 percent the truth. Every week or two we get a CW victim trying to trade in a camper or RV they purchased new from CW and we call the bank in front of the customer and get there payoff and it is more than they paid for the RV brand new even after they have been making payments for a couple of years or longer. Just recently I had a customer that owed $1,000 less on a 2017 model than what CW was advertising the same unit a new 2021 model. Bad thing is because we sell used we are limited to NADA on loan value so we have to tell the customer unless they have a lot of money down when they owe 10K+ more than there RV would ever sell for on the lot there is nothing we can do for them even with perfect credit, One of two things happen when they get there payoff and that info that we can't help them . Either the customer gets furious at CW or the customer then gets mad at us because CW screwed them! So CW is giving RV dealers a bad reputation too because some people think we all operate the same which we do not! I will also tell you this every week we have current CW employees come down or call us looking for a job because they can't stand to work there and they have a huge employee turnover rate and many of there employee's, salespeople and even managers have never owned or even spent the night in a camper in there entire life's . So as bad as it is for someone to buy a unit from CW its even worse to work there.
Outstanding video, and I applaud your honesty and courage. My wife and I are just starting our search for a RV, and this along with the MANY comments against CW make at least not buying from them a very easy decision. Thank you again...it is refreshing to see that good people are still out there willing to help out.
Great story! Love how you hammer on other dealerships! Makes you look so much better to deal with. keep up the great work! Heaven forbid you are just honest and build a reputation without getting the hammer out.
I have owned two RVs. When I did shop at Camping World I sensed something was off and steered clear. I had no idea that all of these things were going on. This is a great video and I wish you the best.
I have been thinking about buying a camper in the next year. Funny, there is a Camping World down the road. Think maybe I will go see this for myself. Thank you for the information.
Mr. Frazer: Please inform people that camping world is NOT the only questionable RV dealer out there. We paid cash for our first used RV and turns out it needed work. I had to replace the floor in the back room. (Never buy a camper in the winter.) Lucky I am a decent handyman though. Our second we still went used but they sound a whole lot like Camping World. 12 years but at least we don't have to pay for early pay off. Tell newbies 6 things whether buying new or used. 1- research, research, research and read, read, read before signing on the dotted line!
We have a Camping World here in town. Wife and I paid a visit to get an idea of new prices. Once the salesman said that it cost $1000 to get trailer ready which included propane and I laughed at him.
Sooooo Thankful I saw this video. It saved me thousands.
Wow!! Thanks for the info. Never knew they were so awful in there deals. We have been to several CW locations and looked at different campers over the years , but never bought from them. The current camper we have now was bought from an independent dealer but used the same tactics you exposed and we are just paying it down until we can do better. After watching your video I am going to Iowa to buy my next RV from you , so keep doing what you are doing. Rest assured we will spread the word here in Mississippi to every person we can to stay away from those CROOKS. Thank you!!!
That opened my eyes. Thank you. We are looking for an R.V. presently.
Out of the thousands of rv sales places between SC and California. I'll go to Cheyenne for my next RV. Just because of the honesty and risk this man took to bring this info to light. Hope you'll have a used Forrest River 42DLTS Grand Lodge when I do.
Thank you for the video. I have been in the finance & insurance industry for 35 years. I have seen the same crap. Most sales reps don't last long but the company and the guy at the top load up there pockets. Like people buying there first life insurance policy, or for a newborn child. The pitch before I left (25 years ago) was sell a newborn child's policy for $60.00 a month. The sales rep makes $720. with a bonus of $720.00 as long as the policy stays in force for 3 years. However the actual cost of insurance was $3.00, the policy fee $7.50 so I sold the policy for $15.00 so the extra cash could go to funding the policy. This was a term policy to age 100 back then with 20k of insurance. Not a 100k policy. The funds were to cover the cost of a funeral and provide some financial support while the mother/father were away from work trying to deal with the loss of a child. Today people are told to buy way more coverage then they require. What did I make back then $180.00 plus bonus $180.00 $360.00 total. the client didn't need to pay any more to get a good policy. I have always gone by putting the client first. We all need to make a living, we don't need to lie about it. I went to a GM dealer to purchase a new car in stock, 1997 Chev Cavalier, I needed a vehicle to do a project with. I had purchased 3 vehicles from this dealer. I met up with him gave him the stock number and told him I had a GM finance approval number. He did the same crap... added $500.00 to the list price as he wasn't making anything on the deal so this was to cover his time. BS Sales reps get a draw, then a bonus at the end of the month on the numbers of units sold and the profit on the total. I walked out of the dealer and never went back. I have since gone through at least 20 other vehicles. I just purchased our 3rd RV from DeeJaytrailers.com here in Ontario Canada. Bill of sale was simple. List price, minus advertised price, minus trade in value, add the tax. This is what you need to pay. Do you want a loan set up by the dealer plan ? yes or no, NO PRESSURE ! NO CHANGE IN THE PRICE !
SUPPORT THE LOCAL DEALER !
Thank you
We took our new tt in for warranty work and they tried to have insurance company send them over 2000 dollars for work not completed. We intercepted the payment and took back our tt.
We will not go back ever again and will pass this on to my husband to watch. Thanks for not letting these crooks get away with our money under false pretenses.
As I'm shopping for my first RV, I sure as heck wish I lived in Iowa or closer to you guys. We have some great dealers here in Alabama, but exposing those ***holes is priceless. Kudos Cheyenne
I have read and listened to so many bad experiences at Camping World that my wife and I will never, ever, buy anything from them including anything in the store. My wife and I are newly retired and looking to buy and will not even set foot in a Camping World for anything much less an RV. Thanks for your video.
The tech who went over ours was great. But the sales guy and manager were awful. I don’t trust any camping world anymore and with more buyers coming forward every day, I’m spreading the word. I was talked down to like a child despite being very patient. Then they insulted my relatives that I referred because they had a really ideal unit, but would not consider new. Word is out, crooked thieves with no memory.
Great video, When I bought my first new RV I remember thinking that it was too bad there wasn't a Camping World near us. Now that seems to be fortunate. They would not have caught me on these tricks. I learned that lesson on my first new car purchase years ago. Now I read the ink off the documents, do my own math and either pay cash or arrange my own financing. How can a large company get away ripping people off, sure seems illegal!
Funny. I just walked out of camping world in Jackson Mississippi. Tried to buy a 331rl Montana. They tried the same crap on me. Dirty business. And I made sure I was loud as I was leaving. I looked at the poor beat down salesman and told him to get another job. He was very embarrassed. Feel sorry for him, he's just trying to earn a dollar. But the finance manager thought I was stupid. Even ran the numbers for him. They ran out the door after me begging me to stay. Told me I had a "misunderstanding" they are liars. Beyond lying. They tried to get me for an additional $20k on a $51k camper. I would have done business had they not been liars.
Your reporting is a perfect example of how we Americans look out for one another. Good on you Citizen Whistleblower Jane Dawn!
Cheers,
Kevin
Haha I walked out of there today as well!!! Camping World of Jackson, or ANY Camping World for that manner is a joke!
I will be in the market in the near future. Camping World is not on the list of dealers I'll be shopping at.
Thank you for educating the public and helping prevent unsuspecting RV buyers from making a bad business decision at Con World.!
Thank you for the information I will not buy from camping world and I was just there looking , God bless you thank you
We recently bought from Camping World in Indianapolis and signed a contract for financing so we could get $1,500 off the price. We did not buy an extended warranty, and we were happy with the price of the travel trailer. A week later we paid off the loan in full even though CW asked us not to. They said it would "hurt them." Lol. We are from Minnesota where it's illegal to penalize early pay off of a loan. The sales people did not pressure us any more than at other places. We knew exactly what we wanted, and we shopped around online in a 7 state area as we traveled from Florida to Minnesota so we could get the best deal. Your video is enlightening as we thought it was BS that we had to take out a loan to get a better deal. Thanks for the info.
We have had a fantastic experience at Cheyenne RV and this video is true because we went to Camping World, too!!
We started camper shopping just last week. We stopped by Cheyenne Camping Center, enjoyed wandering and looking at all of the campers we were interested in. We spoke with Kurt, one of the salesmen. Zero pressure!! He showed us exactly what we asked for. I asked him about financing and he recommended that we use our own Credit Union since we were shopping used. He said our own bank would get us a better deal.
We were close to Davenport so we went to Camping World. We had to meet with a salesman before we could even look at a camper. The salesman had to get permission from the manager to show us a camper. There was an automatic 750.00 set up fee on anything we would buy. The salesman didn't show us anything we asked for!
I called Kurt at Cheyenne today and asked to buy the camper that he showed us. It is perfect!!! The financial document he gave me to give to my bank had the price of the camper, tax, title, and license. Nothing else!! No set up or delivery fees. I offered to pay for it today, or leave a deposit, and Kurt said that I can pay when I take delivery. He said Cheyenne doesn't take payment until I accept the camper.
Skip Camping World. Cheyenne Camping Center is where to go!! What you see is what you pay. No high pressure. No salesperson to walk you around.
Great video. In researching RV’s the last 8 months there are a lot of “camping worlds” out there. They may be bigger and well organized in their tactics but in my opinion there are several RV dealerships that have dirty hands in these tactics. I have thankfully found a handful of dealers that seem to be honest that we will buy from. Unfortunately for me we will most likely buy out of state.
Just bought my first trailer ever at Cheyenne last month. What a great experience! John answered all my questions and sent me several pictures of the actual trailer that I was buying. He also helped me select the right sway bar/weight distribution kit for my vehicle/trailer combination. No pressure. No obligation. I drove in from Ohio - and still saved thousands. Can't recommend Cheyenne enough. Great people who really care about their customers!
We are considering a used 5th wheel purchase at Camping World. We will not give them our business. Thank you and many others on youtube for telling us the truth.
We went to Cheyenne Camping Center to purchase a replacement piece for the used trailer we bought from a private seller. We were pleasantly surprised by the sales team who not only answered our questions but told us how to fix the problem without replacement part! What a great group of friendly employees! I have plans to buy new and when I do, I know exactly where I am headed because their prices can't be beat and even if they could, I doubt I could find such honest, friendly and helpful people anywhere else!
May God bless Mr. Kevin Frazer, his company and all of his employees always, in all ways. I wish all companies could be like Cheyenne Camping Center with their fine example of honesty, friendliness and good customer care!
This man is making this point because he has been selling Rv's for 50 yrs. Cw doesnt accept trade ins.....ask yourself why. Because they are targeting the first time buyer. They dont care about repeat business because They want the quick buck. What the tactics they use are truely doing are going to hurt the whole community. Read any contract before u sign it. U do not need to get charged for a battery, for the finish on the camper, or for your final walk through. I've probably left out some things. A reputable rv dealer wants u to come back and upgrade. To bring your relatives who rv and when grown your kids. I buy my cars at the same dealer because they dont try and screw me over same with an Rv. I'd really like to know why they are getting away with breaking the law!
not enough whistle blowers and i was just thinking about going to camping world in little rock arkansas for my camper and i would be a first time buyer but i have common sense so i will go to moix rv instead in conway. car-mart in russellville tried that shit with me and my boyfriend $225 for a $10,000 2007 chrysler pt cruiser and it was 2010. I flat out told them they take it to $175 or they can keep the car and we will go elsewhere. And as far as batteries and shit, hell no you shouldn't be charged for any of that shit. now if you really wanna watch the high pressure sweat sit there and really read that contract right in front of them, lol. Or get a loan from your bank and go pay cash they hate customers who can do that to.
not true....
Not true, all Camping Worlds accept trade ins, call and ask. This guy is an actor, it says at the end of the video, and the other guy is mad because he's losing business to Camping World.
Very true - a reputable dealer WANTS you to comeback. My brother has bought 3 RV's from the same dealership in Richfield Wi (Roskopf's)...they've always been fair and responsive. By the way - There is a Camping World 22miles from this dealership
Not one company I have requested a quote from provided a quote. Every RV was sold and then they said we have the same model for $15-$25K more. Thanks. Subbed.
Trump supporters, don't forget Camping World CEO doesn't want you to shop at his stores.
Oh come on, he said he was sorry! :)
veeeds I am sharing everywhere. #MAGA🇺🇸
Camping World doesn't care about those three people.
Mr Lloyd is an agent of Camping World.
I'm well aware of what he said and in what context, I've never said otherwise. I was simply stating a fact.
This may be the single most important video to view for any first time buyer of an rv, like myself in the near future. Ive seen quite a few youtube video slamming the slimyness of camping world, but this one really hit home.
Camping World has one of the worst rv repair shop ever. Once they have you in there they just set you on the back burner. Then 7 months later !!!!! the battery had been burned up by the shop recharging them . Now they wanted another $420 to replace them. I said I will bring my own new batteries and they wouldn't allow that on their lot. I have the money but this was on principle. Drove it out then pulled over and installed new batteries I bought for $225. The original 1 year old batteries were so burned up you could nearly stand the smell. I am a retired Service Manager of 23 years. I have never seen anything like this before. Now I am learning this is common treatment by Camping World! Never again.
I escaped Camping World in TN, high pressure, multiple attacks by 5/6 sales people. When you get there you are corralled into a building , up a ramp. Not allowed to look at campers in your own. Your right, they never talked price or interest rate, always focused on the monthly payment. Sleezy from the get go ! I finally just walked out!!! Thank god! After I got multiple calls, they got blocked !
Always agree on a sales price - BEFORE - telling any car or RV dealer how you plan to pay for it. Then pay cash or get a loan from a credit union.
Thanks for the info. I was going to buy a few accessories from them because they show in-stock and are sold out elsewhere. I'll take my money some place else.
Very good video! Camping World sales tactics are like buying a time share property! They will not accept a cash payoff either and promptly escort you out the backdoor!
Greetings,
Hats off to your time share comparison and thank you for helping others spot the shady sellers.
Just today an Indiana Hoosier reported she shopped a Camping World trailer advertised at $14,999 which became more than $23,000 when CW wrote it up last Saturday.
Most people believe honesty pays. But, not enough to suit Chairman Lemonis, he wants his billion $ and he wants it now.
Cheers,
Kevin
Camping World in Albuquerque wouldn't give me their final price on an Outback trailer unless I gave him a $500 non-refundable deposit I didn't buy from them
CW in Fort Myers sold me a TT cash with no fuss at all. They did offer financing during the pricess, I declined, and that was that. My neighbor also bought one there and had the same experience.
I was looking at a camper at camping world. Saw your video! Thank you so much for enlightening me. I wish you were closer. I would definitely be a customer
I use to work for a large dealer that lemonis bought out. I left 2 months before he took over. I talked to ex coworkers who were in a company wide meeting with him just after purchasing the company. All of them told me the same thing,Lemonis told them that he doesn't care about the customer,he cares about "his people" meaning the employees. And he is 100% about the 1st time buyer.
4 years ago I bought a new trailer at camping world Chichester n.h. Paid cash. stupid me fell for the dealer prep charge. OK issue with 1 trailer brake locking up with in a month. No help not a warranty issue ! Month 4 radio wont shut off, keeps looking for CD. Took 1 month to fix then the radio falls out of the wall. Call camping world. Service manager says it didn't come with all the parts. Sure glad they did nothing to the brakes. By the way I fixed that & the radio myself. DO NOT SHOP OR TRUST CAMPING WORLD FOR ANYTHING !!!!
You're a hero bro.

Thank you Sir for standing up for local dealers. I love Apache Camper here in Omaha.
After 45 years in the auto business, I can smell a rat a mile away...CW purchased my local dealer recently and I decided to walk in today and ask about an in stock unit...I was told it was on sale, I asked if I could have one made to my spec and was told sure, but it will cost much more and I'd be better off with the one in stock...I realized at that moment I needed to leave, and I did........Now that I know the model Motor Home I need, I'll be shopping on the internet, with independent dealers and only go in when they have reached all my needs, both equipment wise and dollar wise.....Great Video....PS I'm paying cash and they hated hearing that....😁
Your business ethics gives me chills ❤❤ I appreciate how you care for the people you meet over your financial success. That means everything to me. I will be going to you for my next Motorcoach
Thank you for having the courage to expose CW. I don’t know how they stay in business. I belong to several RV related Facebook groups and anytime CW is mentioned it’s due to a bad experience.
How many people take the time to send positive feedback, in general? Close to NONE. Especially with social media being what it is now days, people only take to it to COMPLAIN, and act like they were victimized by big bad corporations, when really they were scammed because they didn’t take the time to READ and EDUCATE themselves. Everyone wants to play the victim but don’t want to take accountability for not being educated. Y’all are really something else!! 🤣🤣
Good for you! I'm just beginning my RV researching/shopping journey, but when I'm ready to buy I know where to go. :)
Thank you for exposing Camping World for what they really are. I did not purchase my RV from camping world but I experienced much of the same tactics, thankfully my wonderful wife who used to work in a Credit Union knows all about the financing operations and she put the kibosh on those tactics. We walked out of the dealer, agreeing on only one thing, that we would think it over for the night. Upon our arrival back home, we looked online and found the very same unit we were looking at, for $5000.00 cheaper than the dealer we were at. When we went back the next day armed with this newly found tidbit of info, we asked for the same deal as the online place, oh sure we heard the usual Bull about this that and the other darn thing and the "Finance guy" would have to talk to "The Boss" Well they matched the price and gave us some cock and bull story about how they were able to move some profits around from one unit they had just sold so they could match the price, WHATEVER! Bottom line is do your shopping around and don't be afraid to call their bluff and walk out if you don't get what you think is a fair price. Again thanks for posting this video I will be sharing it with my family and friends.
Thank you! It is hard to find business people with this philosophy. I am really glad I got my class c from a local family dealer. The dealership remembers me since I got my rv. I did go to camping world, something did not smell right. So I walked away. Now that you mention all the points, it all cleared up. Thanks!
Went to camping world to get solar installed. They told me that their experts would fix me up! after a huge quote I asked them is that quote for a pure sine or regular inverter after being passed to 3-4 people I was told they had no idea what I was talking about. I am no solar expert but learned enough to know not to do business with them. Then when the owner came out and said if you support Trump don't shop here! well I am just to happy to oblige!!!
Ha ha. I am a Trump supporter and it figures a place like Camping World uses tactics like the far left and anti Trumpers. No use for Camping World scammers.
Thank you and thank you again. This video is so exactly what we witnessed. No we didn't buy from them. No we don't get repairs from them. Fact is same hidden fees in the repar bills. We bought from a small town dealership and couldn't be happie. So praise you your time to warn all of us and keep this great adventure going.
I'd almost like to go into CW and waste their time for 5 hours and say Naaaa. I run a small business and won't ever sell out for a quick buck. I wouldn't want to be treated like that so I won't do it to another.
Nice video!
-Jon
Had the same thought except I hope to treat them exactly the way they treat the rest of us. Just because you don't treat others like that shouldn't excuse you from helping rid of those that do.
I was there today for 3 hours on a test drive and review of a C class and an A class. Was leery after he told me they don't do inspections of the units, it is farmed out to other companies. I asked who I would see if I found something wrong. Just see him and he would get after them. No thanks.
Thank you. My husband and I are considering buying an RV. I watched all 23 minutes, because I want to know! Then I went to your interview with The RV Show USA.
Good business sense,Saturn car company was the same with me ,never charged me for anything extra ,not even an alternator after car was bought .....nice to see another honest company .I know where iam gonna get an RV if I can one day
Proud deplorable here, so thankful that lemonis stated publicly that he flat out, does not want my business, because I support our President. Thankful to folks like this gentleman, pointing out a crook when they see one. We are proud, outright owners of a Winnebago Vista that we very much enjoy. Will probably trade one more time, when I retire. Will definitely give this guy a call. Never been to Iowa, yet.
Felt guilty....why? Never talk payments never never! Get your own financing too! Never never buy from camping word!
Thank you. My wife and I are starting to look at r v,s and this video helped. God bless you
Greatly appreciate you informing us and watching out for consumers and the industry!!
My name is Brian Grooms and I worked for Camping World on Sheek Rd in Greenwood IN for about a year. I was a porter/delivery and pickup guy. We had hundreds of used campers that were taken as trade ins along with hundreds of new units. Our yard held probably at least 1000 trailers at one time. I delivered many new trailers to customers homes in near by states and some were even farther away. I felt with customers every day because I was in charge of the entire yard. Customers would do a walk through on their new trailers and would find problems here and there. Camping World would promise to fix these problems before delivery and send me down the road even though they hadn't fixed the problems. Then it would take the customer months if not years to get the problems fixed once they excepted the delivery. Some customers brought their campers in to be worked on and it would take many months to get them back. CW would promise them a few weeks but that never happened. After they got you to sign on the dotted line they didnt care at all what your complaints might be. They had workers that smoked pot in the campers and we would show a customer a camper that smelled like they had just burned a joint inside it. There were mechanics that sold drugs right out of the garage area and had been for years. I had just about every customer I felt with complain about the service they received after the sale was finalized. One had told me they had their camper for over a year and never got the paper work needed to license it so they could drive it on the road.
The funniest thing I did hear was when the owner said he didnt want Trump supporters shopping there. Little did he know but we let Trump use a $500,000.00 brand new motorhome as a dressing room for a day when he came to Indy for a rally. And when Hillary showed up we didnt give her anything. I know most of the people that worked there voted for Trump because they admitted it to me later.
Thanks for revealing the truth.
Camping World is a great place to walk around and see lots of RV models. The sales staff are there to sell you, not to really help you. As long as you know that, you will be fine. When it comes time to buy...no matter where you go...do your research. Get a second trusted opinion before signing. There are ALWAYS good deals and there is ALWAYS another rig so don’t feel pressured or rushed.
This is a great video! I'm so happy that my family bought our first Camper from The Cheyenne Camping Center! We will be customers there for life!
Camping World is the worst.
Just like car dealerships. They blind you with their pleasentries. It's only after you're out that you realize they conned you into loosing all of your downpayment.
My husband and I took our RV to camping world for inspection of our roof for leaks, they gave terrible customer service and a estimate of $2,000. We will not go back.
I saw their huge tent and sales representation (about 60 salesmen) at the Hersey Show last year and it was enough to make anyone run. I have had the same with local car dealers who are all owned by the same investors and use the Marcus Chicago Mafia approach. I want a used Motohome in the near future, no payments for me.
This video is useful, but these tactics are not all that different from the tactics used by many vehicle dealerships. Not to say there aren't honest car, truck, and RV dealers out there. There are, but the consumer needs to be aware, read everything thoroughly, and be patient. Don't buy the first unit you see, from the first dealership you visit. Shop around. Protect yourself.
Great video. I had planned on visiting camping world but won't be now. I'm a 1st time buyer and heads would roll if they or anyone tries to scam me.
Its about time..
Thank You.
I will definitely look you guys up on our next rv purchase.
I have never dealt with Camping World but I have bought a camper from Cheyenne Camping Center. I drove from western North Dakota to buy a camper from them. I highly recommend them. I had two issues with the camper and they took care of both of them. If I buy another camper, it will be from them.
I bought my camper in July 2020 from Camping World in Poteau Oklahoma and had it a day and it leaked and the shower walls were coming away from the walls.... took it back and a week later they did put a nee shower in but they say it’s not leaking I hook it to water and it’s leaking I take it back they fix the leak and didn’t say anything about checking for water damage and I found water damage and they kept it until February 2021and it had more problems and they replaced some wall around the shower and just patched a piece over the wall that is on the outer wall and said it’s not damage just cosmetic. I have tried to contact customer service and Marcus Lemonis the CEO with no success for the past two weeks.....they know I am calling and messaging.
Thanks for this very informative video. I did not realize Camping World was so corrupt. I will definitely not buy my new RV from such a business...
I'll be planning my future trips to include a stops at Cheyenne Camping Center for my rv service and check ups.
If you want the truth on camping world in Indiana, call the Indiana Attorney General. You will find out what a real piece of work they really are. Worse than any used car dealer. Just one person's opinion.
