Great video. I have one phrase I have always told people who are buying anything. Be it a car, a boat, an rv, it doesn't matter. Don't completely fall in love with it, where you can't live without it. You have to step back and take a look at the entire picture. Be completely willing to walk away from any deal. If they tell you it's today only, that's a big RED flag! And if you're still not sure, you are still better off without it than living with a huge mistake.
You know to have somebody like this with some honor and integrity goes a long way with me and my family. It’s always a scary feeling to go out there and feel totally naked while the lions are circling. It’s really nice to have somebody that will look out for yourinterest on your investment. And that’s what buying an RV is, an investment. Definitely have him back on y’all’s channel soon. Planning on getting an RV probably around April or May. Gotta get my knee replaced first. Ouch.
Once again your content and timing are amazing! Smartest RV channel on the net! Thank you! Chris seems to be amazing as well. I mentioned before we are thinking of jumping in the RV world as we get closer to retirement. We will be at the Tampa show! Our first show ever, no less a super show! Hope to see you guys! Will you have a meet and greet?
This video is helping my concerns of going to the Tampa show and driving away with a new RV. I feel like it’s helping me take a deep breath and I’ll be going in level headed if that makes sense! Thanks!
Thank you so much Izzy and MJ for having Chris on again. We need more people like around. When I go looking for my Rv I’m going to call on Chris. He’s very helpful. He’s nice enough to care about us consumers. Thank you for having him on the channel.
Great info - It validated what I learned this week when looking for an Airstream and financing. I ended up using my own personal bank on a used unit, which lowered my interest rate, and gave me much better loan terms. I was shocked at the financing shenanigans the dealers employ.
Very informative …… I definitely saved this video and the website from Chris. Couple weeks ago we went to the Greenville, SC RV show small but to us it was big first time ever going to a show. We basically went for the fun of seeing everything then mentally the excitement of the “BigDiscounts” that were posted. Made us think that maybe in the future we can get one but then that also means getting a truck for a travel trailer. So definitely this would be a BIG Investment for us. We have a couple years for saving 💰💰💰 and researching like referencing your videos. I’m definitely subscribing!!!! Thanks
We are starting our journey buying an RV. we want to, buy a B plus RV like a Winnebago View or at LTV, among 8-10 others. I follow your website and you always have great information and we look forward to seeing you at the Tampa RV show as I saw the two of you were on the influencers presentation list. I’m doing research on all aspects including inspecting, financing, build quality, etc via reviews and viewing many of the videos. This video on Financing was excellent . My approach will be to buy an RV like I’m buying a house. I want to go through it, review it check the build, have it inspected (new or old) , talk to my finance advisors and check with my own bank for the best rates, since they know my finances. When I buy a car, I often do not finance it through the dealership, often buy used with low mileage , but use my own bank or if possible a home equity loan if the interest rates are appropriate. These are big purchases with many fees and everything’s negotiable.
That was great information! I understand the emotion buying problem, so having the support of IntoRV can help settle the nerves, plus give people the courage to walk away if the deal feels bad. Thank you!
Great info. We are headed to Tampa shopping. Found some good looking Dutch stars couple years old in fort Myers. Went a head and bit bullet and sent application in. Great videos. Wife and I are just scared of this purchase. We know we’ll love it, but it’s a house we can’t sale.
Went to the local big RV show for fun and sport. We know what we will buy and where. We have done extensive comparative research. I caught a rep of another make in so many misrepresentations. It was fun to watch him try to back pedal and do damage control. Do your research and get a 3rd party independent inspection. All deposits must be fully refunded in kind. Have fun.
The key missing topic here is depreciation. RVs depreciate 30% in the first 3 years and they carry loan rates 2x that of cars. IMHO.....think really, really hard about financing something at 10% that's losing 10%/yr. Let's say you take out a $300k 10yr loan on a Class A. You'll have a ~$3600/m payment and at the end of year 3 the coach is worth $210k and you still owe $217k. You've basically just "rented" a coach at $40k/yr, because you have negative equity (-$7k) and it's depreciating faster than you can pay it off. Contrast that against buying a 3yr used coach which depreciation slows down after year 3. Even if the rates are higher, at least get to stay above water. Just my two cents.
Very informative video. I would have loved to hear his thoughts concerning dealers playing games with the RV price when you finance vs. pay cash. They typically will encourage you to finance through them, then you simply pay it off quickly, usually, in 3-6 months with no penalty. This apparently gives the dealer a paid incentive from the lender and you a better price overall on the rig. Seems like smoke and mirrors to me. Thoughts?
Dealers will be dealers. An honest dealer will offer a unit to all buyers at the same price no matter their decision on purchase method. First: If you want to pay cash and have the means to do so; do it. Second: No matter what you are told to do, no dealer can stop you from paying off a loan when you want to. That loan belongs to you and not them, if they discounted a coach to secure a bonus from the lender and lose because you paid it off - that’s a gamble they lost.
On my 5th RV and usually buy new. This last recent purchase I made, I got a loan, only for the discount. This was a valid way of getting another 6-7K discounted. Even after the 9 months of payment (agreed upon with dealer) I can payoff with no penalty and get the discount. The loan amount was only 1/3 the RV price... Generally speaking, if you are getting a new coach, (rule of thumb) initially, look for at least 10-20% discount. Then work from there. Also! Usually, if you do get some crazy deal...most of the time with my experience, there is A REASON for this. How long has the rig been on the market? Why are people passing on it? So it's not always about getting crazy deals. A fair price is good enough for me most of the time.
Wondering; Is the best strategy for RV buying same as car buying, to never say up front I have my own money? Because if the dealer knows they'll make nothing from financing then they charge more (discount less) for the RV. - And so might be best to accept their financed price, sign everything, and then refinance with Chris, paying off their loan, next week?
Demand is down, supply is up. Get the best price and let them know you'll use the best rate available to you - if they tell you that will affect the price then you know they're only out for one thing. Refinancing later will cost you more up front, plus additional interest, not to mention lender selection for refinancing is limited compared to when buying.
Does Chris do refinancing? I financed my leftover 23 from a bank and got a great rate of 7.2%, however if I could get it lower, that would be great. my payments with insurance are at $745 a month. Which I think is excellent, but if I could get it lower living on a fixed income and I am a full-time definitely be great.
Right around the corner, a few months and you’ll see them start popping up. I have some customers saying they expect their 2026 orders to arrive in April!
I tell the Dealers that the MSRP is a BS number, now let's negotiate. I start at 40 to 50 percent and try to go lower. If they don't like that, I WALK.
Yes and no, technically the RV is still new, however some lenders may consider them pre-owned for lending. Every lender is different, some consider is new until it is titled, and others cutoff the model year based on a specific date.
Credit score, total monthly obligations, revolving balances and usage, comparable credit accounts, loan to value percentage and that's just the short list!

Wow, a used Super C is marked up over 100K to be resold. I wonder if the dealership spent anymore than 10K to get it ready to sell?
On my 5th RV and usually buy new. This last recent purchase I made, I got a loan, only for the discount. This was a valid way of getting another 6-7K discounted. You would need to know the terms of your loan many have a 6 to 12 months minimum commitment before you can refinance

After looking at the sheer amounts of rv information videos over the past month, we almost decided to not buy anything.
We’re glad you’re still considering it!

Yes he does
Buyer Beware. When I financed my Jayco 5th Wheel thru my Credit Union the Dealer finance manager was VERRY UPSET.
Red flag number one.
So the '26 year models will be out now?
Right around the corner, a few months and you’ll see them start popping up. I have some customers saying they expect their 2026 orders to arrive in April!

No services are being allowed at the show. This will hurt the show
Looking is Smart, but BUYING is not, not, not. A new rig will not make everything better.. it just drops you deeper into the hole.
No different than what car dealers do. They don't make and money on the sale. They make it all on financing and service.
RV dealers can make it everywhere depending on what the market brings. Auto is harder, but manufacturer kickbacks on that side are huge.
Can I please have a Chris in Canada please.
