The intro of this video gave me a challenge idea: recreate the front of one house and the back of another then try to join them together into one house.
Or you could even take the front of two different houses and make one the front and one the back.
I've actually done something similar to this but instead I took two fronts and made one the back and the other the actual front of the house and it actually turned out super cute

I think the hardest sims challenge for her is actually following a floor plan and not changing it because she “doesn’t like it”

You can still download and use the house, some objects and wallpapers and whatnot will just be missing or replaced.
Just download it and replace the missing items with the stuff you have. It will look different, of course, but you can instantly customize it to your sims taste ;)
That's just the perfect opportunity to customize the house and improve your confidence in interior design my dude.

Same, it's an odd experience to know the house you've built so well. Also, it's so hard to match real-life furniture!
So I’m studying architecture right now and I just learned how to do those outdoor renderings and so I thought it was so cool that something that I am actually doing matters in real life so thank you lilsimsie for making my major mater lol

The couch next to the stairs is to show that the space is open to below. Also there's a support column in the middle of the house, which helps break up the space.

I didn't even notice because here its not considered a bad word. Its a word you use instead of using a strong swear word and originates from toilets having been created in their Victorian form by Thomas Crapper. So it just means toilet basically lol. Some people still call toilets "the crapper" instead of loo. Granted you'd probably not say it in the politest of society but still.

Aww. That's so pretty. 💜 Kudos to you for committing to logical exterior walls. I would have just painted it with the interior dark purple wall paint and called it a day. 😅
Plain paint is more logical than wood panelling. That's such a weird thing to have on the outside of a house. I mean I get it if its a cabin made from logs or cut timbers, but the siding they have in the game just looks odd and out of place. I'd expect to see more brick, and maybe some painted brick or plastered outside over brick which is painted after. Or pebbledashing which is awful, but is a thing you see on loads of houses.

He added some modded items so to find it in the gallery you'll have to go to advanced -> include custom content, but the modded items are very few in number and shouldn't have an impact at all.

You should do a series where you choose one big pack and do an entire house using only that one pack (if the pack doesn’t have some items available, you can only use base game items). I feel like that would be kinda interesting but also challenging.

That image quality looks more like The Sims than houses in The Sims.
It's so weird going back to watch older videos and hearing Kayla wish for a stove top for counters and a separate oven when we have that now. Maybe one day we'll get mountable microwaves and other things on her wishlist! ❤️

There's one on every room in my house.... exept the bathroom.
I've started taking floor plans of old houses, from New York City brownstone houses to old English country cottages, and rebuilding them in the games. Sometimes I even look at actual historical houses, and do them. Recently I did the house of Vanessa Bell, Virginia Woolf's sister, which took me five days to build, landscape, decorate and furnish.
Even when building a purple house lilsimsie still manages to build a blue suburban 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love to look at houses in my town and build them in the sims. It's even more fun to take inspiration from a run down house and make it better!

I've been doing a lot of building recently too. There's this site that keeps popping up in my Facebook feed called Captivating Houses and it showcases all these old manor homes and such. It's really gotten my creative juices flowing. I don't try to follow the floorplans exactly, but they make great guidelines. Also, I wouldn't have bothered with siding on this build. I would have painted it purple and called it a day.
BE VERY CAREFUL about how you save those pictures of that house for all of you trying to recreate it along with her. I “saved” one of those pictures and ended up with Trojan malware on my pc! I’m sure Kayla was unaware of this, but be careful!

there’s no true scale in the game, but you can use things like bathrooms and garages (for every car the garage is, it’s 4 tiles)

I really love that purple house. And the house you made Kayla. Especially since purple is one of my 3 most favorite colors. Red and black are my other 2 most favorite colors. But this video reminded me of why I always rely heavily on custom mods and ccs for my Sims games. And when I make my own wall and floor coverings for my Sims 4 game. I always do at least 25 or more swatches of colors. That way I know I will always have the right color that I need. Especially when it comes to the color purple. Where I will have at least a few shades of that color in my swatches.
Am i the ONLY ONE who just can't live with the fact that Kayla really built with NIGHTMODE on?!

Hey Kayak! I created a new sims challenge where you make a house where every room is a different style eg gothic, vintage etc
really enjoyed watching and listening. thanks my plan is to build the house my daddy built and i grew up in. i've tried a few times a year ago and because of the stairs/landing, it just nvr looked good. now with the stairs update which im so excited about, perhaps it will turn out.

I'm recreating my parent's house in the Sims right now, and it's coming out pretty good, especially with the caveat that the second floor is inside the roof, which is really hard to work with in the Sims. But given that, I think it's looking really accurate. It helps that I've made CC of various objects and tiles from the house, so I guess there's that caveat too, but even so!

I do this, ALL the time. This is how I usually build my houses. I have found some houses that don't have plans that I've managed to recreate, though. 😊

I take a class at school where we use a CAD program a lot and we have to make things from just blueprints of the top, front, and right very often. It’s harder than it sounds but it’s a lot of fun!
Kayla, there should only be 1 sofa downstairs and chairs. You said you didn't like it, but you also said at the start that you were going to follow the challenge tile-by-tile.
Also, at around 4:00 , you acknowledged the fact that you can't have a window there but you put it there anyways, again not following the floorplan/house. Also, the floorplan said nothing about have a fishtank, for example, so you're not doing the challenge. I feel like you wanted to do the challenge but disliked the way it looked so you changed it to how you wanted it to look, which defeats the whole point of a 'challenge'. PS: *No hate, I'm just tryna point out that she started out doing the challenge correctly then started to change the house from the way it should be, to how she prefers it/wants it to be. (Again, no hate. I actually really enjoy Kayla's content.)*
using house plans is how i practice building 🤷🏾♀️ it becomes difficult when you start decorating the inside, because you’re guessing dimensions, but it’s still so fun!

We don't have them on the bench (generally), but they usually have their own cut outs in one of the cupboards either below bench height or in the overheads, often above the oven. This is in Australia.
