It actually really irritates me when she does this because she is SUCH a talented Simmer and then she shits over all of her builds. Like, I wish I could build even half as well as she can.
I know it isn't her intention but it's actually more annoying that she's so hyper-critical of herself than if she were constantly bragging. Like, she makes me feel like a terrible Simmer with her builds and then makes out like the level of building that I aspire to reach is the worst of the worst. Like, dude, you're already making me feel inferior with your offensively well-built homes. Don't insult me even more by shitting all over them. 💀
How do you recreate an entire house perfectly and my only skill is a box with a roof?

try adding boxes next to other boxes. it doesnt need to be very fancy but just 1 box with a few attached to it looks great if you do it right. practice a little on empty lots. or try modern houses these can work as boxes, but with a flat roof. recently a built a modern house that was a square, big box and medium box fused together and added some windows. it had a pool on floor 1 that was above the kitchen and it looked interesting, the roof space was also a party space with a grill and access to the pool. it gets simple

The thing is in real life this house could never be a “starter home” because it would cost at least a £150,000 - £250,000

alexa No. I don’t know where you’re from but where I live (Cardiff, Wales, Uk) my parent’s house is a 3 story terraced townhouse with 5 bedrooms and it’s probably worth about 500k. I think this house would be 100k-200k

I love how she made the downstairs bedroom into a teen girls room and then the loft area into a manly looking room. Kinda makes me think that the family that lives there is a single dad and his teen daughter... And I like that, honestly

Hey I have a fun idea for a challenge. I don't know if someone already did this so...
1. You place down all the furniture you think you need in a house. (don't forget decor)
2. You build a shell and place down doors, windows, flooring, wallpaper and a roof
3. You decorate the house ONLY with the stuff you have placed down before and you can't delete anything so if you don't have space for it, make space for it bc you can't delete it
4. You can't add more stuff so for example if you forgot a trashcan before you built the shell you don't get one.
5. You can't change the shell after you started putting your furniture in
6. You also can't change doors, windows, flooring or wallpaper
7. you can do the outside freely
*one more rule is that you can't change the swatch after you built the shell so have funn

Those moments though do make you hate the game for a bit.. That fence and gate are supposed to match but flat out don't.. I've always hated that. There's a lot of issues like that in the game where even things made to go together don't actually match.. I don't understand why.

I didn't see a comment explaining what it was in the first building that you showed at the beginning, so I am gonna help and say that it was a solar chimney. It is for improving natural ventilation of the building. For them to work, they tend to look ridiculous, but there definitely is a way to make it look better than the one that you found lmao

I have a story for this house: it’s a movie actor and his retired director husband decided to move out of their giant modern mansion to more simple small living but he still needed to get an expensive house. He wanted to move because they adopted a daughter and they thought it would be better for her. Their names are Jeffrey and Andy (idk it just seemed right). Kayla built this when the daughter grew up into a teen and they are getting older so they are renovating their house a bit. Now, they are now a happy family in their modern contemporary home in Southern California. Thank you for reading this...I have issues

I actuallyrecreated the same build months ago and for the stone part i made a room inside the house that size and put some foundation and delete the room and it looked pretty convincing.
I love how you go back and forth between "This is gonna be the worst" to "this actually works, I like it." So cute 😊

What about a challenge where you choose all the furniture first (all interior like toilets, sink, decor items, paintings etc) and then do the house and place the furniture inside but you can’t delete any furniture or choose new ones. You can only change the swatches of them once you’ve picked all the furniture and started building the house

I was totally looking at this house to recreate last week! It kept popping up in my searches but it wasn't the specific style I was looking for but I tucked it away for future use. Mine definitely won't be as good as yours but I love seeing how you went about this.

Whoah!! I built my Sim's house from this exact plan last week, but I used the version with the attached garage. I had to find a mod to get something approximating the brickwork on the front, and it took some fancy tutorials to get the garage attached to the foundation, but I was really pleased with the results. Kayla, it was your videos that inspired me to learn better Sims building skills, and this was the house I chose as a project. I'm playing in it right now. It's not an ideal translation into the game; the airlock entryway and pantry are kind of pointless. But I added them anyway and I'm enjoying it as a home for my Sim and her dog.
FYI, I'm interested in these plans in real life. I got a quote from a builder in central Ontario, Canada, and this can be built for less than $300,000 CAD. In this housing market, that is absolutely a starter home. Mind you... you'd have to find the land, too...
