@@rheneebuw7845 I moved away at 3 and moved around alot because my dad was in the military. We lived in some pretty remote areas and back then the only time my mom spoke Yapese is when a family member would call. But long distance cost a lot of money back then. We didn't have internet until I was in middle school and at that time there were no resources online. I know basic words and can get the gist of a convo if spoken to slowly. I am happy for you & that our language is preserved with you.
I would love to learn Yapese. One of my good friends was from Yap and when her mom & aunt visited she spoke the language. It's such a beautiful language. She has since moved back to Yap with her family.

Dalipebinaw is how you do it.. Im half Chuukese and Yapese , but born in Guam..my parents sent me to Yap to grow up learning my Language so that when I'm in school at places I know my language
I got some baby Yapese books to try to learn some Yapese words but none of them explain how to pronounce them and I know I'm saying them wrong 😔 I asked my titaw once how to learn and she said "grow up on Yap" 😅 which it's a little late for
If you have know a fluent Yapese speaker, have them take a look at that book before you start learning the words. My nephew got one of those books somewhere and most of the words and meanings are wrong.
