    ZBrush 2019 is here and with it a host of new features to check out. I'm Follygon and in this video we'll be taking a look at the new and updated ZRemesher 3.0 added in ZBrush 2019.
    Something I never expected, they made even more improvements to ZRemesher. It's faster, more accurate, has new features like edge detection. It's incredible how good the topology you can get out of this automatic tool is. No, it's still not going to be animation quality topology, that's going to require a human touch for at least a little bit longer. But damn ZRemesher 3.0 is a very welcome improvement. Now let's get in and take a look at some of these new features in this Zremesher tutorial!
    ZRemesher 3.0
    The ZRemesher automatic retopolgy toolset has been a key component in the modern ZBrush artist's workflow. It now goes to the next level with ZRemesher v3.0. The enhanced systems can maintain creased edges and automatically detect sharp surface angles, ideal for mechanical models. The result is also a more efficient final polygon count... all while actually increasing speed!

    How are you guys liking the new ZRemesher 3.0? I wasn't expecting an update to this feature at all but dang has it been awesome on hard surface remeshing.

    Thank you for saying ZRemesher doesn't make Animation-ready topology, i'm quite new to ZBrush and i was really curious about that, and google wouldn't rly answer my question about it, thanks a lot!

    its great but for complex cad data not really suitable. any tips how to remesh really dense stl or obj files ?

    Hmmm I think zremesh3.0 detect edge and Maya autoretopo are very similar.

      I still prefer using Maya's transfer attributes to retopo. I find zremesh a waste of time but is okay if you want to reduce polycount so you can keep sculpting till it's finished... then Maya does it's magic with just a click from UVto topology

    Off topic! Zremesher not working on 2019 version,tell me why? Thank you.

    Why would you zremesh into something that is not animated ready then? What is the point? How would someone go about bridging that gap if they were trying to? Thanks!

    I was wondering if you could zremesh a model and then import said model into maya to fix any topology issues? Is this possible? I use maya to do retopology rather than zbrush.

      Yes, but if you want something for animation you should do it by hand from the beginning.

    Will this allow the uv maps to remain the same?

    • @Follygon
      @Follygon  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you change your topology in any application your UV map will be destroyed.

    Interestingly, this hard-surface zremesher doesn't work on geometry from the Spotlight's new snapshot tool. All you will get is a fat mess, even on very simple shapes.

    • @Follygon
      @Follygon  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Works fine for me. Make sure you’re using things like edge detect and keep groups.

    • @pawnswizard1
      @pawnswizard1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely does not work for me, even on the simplest of shapes (a square with something cut out of it). Detect Edges and Keep Groups make it even worse, almost tearing open the mesh. I can even confidently demonstrate this live, and refer to others who are having the same problem. So I am not sure what's up if it's working for you, or why it would be.
      Cheers!

    • @pawnswizard1
      @pawnswizard1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep so it's official, This tool doesn't like Snapshot at all. For something simple it's fine, but try something even sleightly more complex (using pure snapshot parts). Create a square and cut wedges out of it. This remesher simply won't work consistently enough to be reliable. I wish I knew why.
      Auto-creasing also doesn't help. Keep Creases, Detect Edges, and Keep Groups absolutely destroy a snapshot model.
