This was one of the most difficult videos I've ever had to edit due to a lot of crazy stuff going on in the middle, like going out of the country for two weeks, and getting engaged to my girlfriend, and other stuff. So hopefully it was worth the wait!

Fun Fact: There WAS going to be a third MK movie that was gonna start shooting in 2005, but the shooting location they picked was New Orleans. So...yeah, that never happened.

To add onto Johnny’s minimal screen time, from what i understand, Johnny’s original actor wanted to do a sequel, but dropped out because he felt he wasn’t getting paid enough, and didn’t like the script. (Most of the original actors disliked the script, which is why they all got recast) So what’s the most logical thing to do for Johnny’s Character? Kill him off and forget he was ever even recast.
Don’t take my word that this is true, but it’s what I understand from things I’ve seen about this specific film.
Ironically, quitting midshoot because the script and pay sucked is totally a Johnny Cage thing
I heard that he was interested, read the script, and found out that they had already planned on killing him off at the start.
Decided it wasn't worth his time.

@@mjxbox It was a pretty close call for me, and if you like Doom annihilation better, that's okay. In my opinion Doom could have been great if handled differently and this ended up being somewhat better.

That scene with Jax and Rain is hilarious.
I remember me and my buddies watched this way more times that I'm willing to admit back in college. Each time we watched it, we noticed more goofs than before (there's one scene where you can clearly see Scorpion waiting for his cue)
They did try to reboot it in the mid-2000s, but the shooting location was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. It's been in development limbo ever since. But now we actually have a movie to look forward to.

Hey Xavier I hope you haven't abandoned this lookback at the Mortal Kombat series. I went back and started rewatching a lot of your vids lately, and these vids along with a friend of mine have gotten me interested in really getting into Mortal Kombat. I understand you're busy a lot nowadays and the visa are getting expensive to make, but If you ever have the desire I still wanted to let you know I wouldn't mind at all seeing more MK in the future if you want a break from the comic topics, (which I of course am still a fan of as well.)

"You can just paint the suit red after you're done with it"...that's literally what they done. The smoke suit was the same one as cyrax, just painted. The main reptile suit was also the scorpion suit repainted.

Yeah that Jade casting was hilarious. At least with Kitana, her character sprite's skin complexion left enough room for interpretation as for what ethnicity she could've been despite her design having clear Asian influence, but Jade was a major duh. Like they at least could've gotten an Indian chick or something lol
So just like MK11, it's set not too long after the last instalment, but features different character designs and most roles being re-casted

The actors for Johnny Cage and Raiden did not want to come back because they didn't like the script. This movie had TWO actors for Raiden because the first one left mid-shoot. Sonya's actress was busy with other things at the time.
The filmakers claims that the movie was released unfinished (editing, special effects, etc ). The original script is more consistent.

But don't be confused about Unlimited referencing some bits in the 94 cartoon cause it never tried to be a sequel or allude to it, it only took a couple of familiar points into their storytelling cause it's easier to follow for those who got exposed to the show prior to Unlimited and it worked for that version but might be confused about changes shown in this show if it made them like the symbiote on the Hudson river. At least Unlimited didn't throw in Rhino and SHOOOOOCKEEEER.

2. Knowing that Larry Kassanoff, the writer and producer of this film is also responsible for FoodFight, should really explain the CGi effect quality, and why the writing is downright dreadful.
I'll give the movie one thing, it portrayed the younger Subzero far better than the old one in the first movie, sure he's nothing more than a random cameo but at the very least the movie is more accurate to the game's character. Making the original a mind controlled slave in the first movie ticked me off to no end.

Part of me really likes the costume design since it's exactly what was used for the games but at its worst (and there's a lot of that) it ends up making the film look like a bad episode of Power Rangers stretched out to 90 minutes.

This movie is an absolute mess, but a beautiful one in my opinion. Every time I watch it, I always laugh my ass off. And I have to admit, I really like the guy playing Jax. Him and Lui Kang seem like the only people having a good time.
Exactly they are the two best things about the movie.
My only defense for MK1 reptile 🦎 scene is I think they was trying to bring that video game feel for reptile just popping up on you I believe that’s how it happened on the game mk1
