I’m on the wait list for surgery since it got so bad that throughout the day it kept locking and very painful. I started doing these exercises 3 days ago and I’m not making this up. All pain gone, no locking. I will see how it goes and maybe cancel surgery. Thank you so much for uploading g this.

Fun fact: cold laser therapy will fix any stuck fingers, tendonitis, get rid of inflammation from arthritis, etc. I swear by it and I’m so glad I tried it on day. I’m investing in an at home device as I have rheumatoid arthritis.
I came to this video as my thumb is in pain and can’t make it into my chiropractor’s office for laser and waiting for my laser in the mail.

A+, thank you! A month ago I had severe trigger thumb. I almost couldn't bend it at all, and if I did, I had to use my other hand to manually unbend it with a painful POP that brought tears to my eyes. The base of my thumb was tender and painful. I went to a hand specialist who offered me a cortisone shot (I declined!) and prescribed four weeks of physical therapy 3X/week (which I can't afford, I don't have coverage for that.) I decided to do my own PT, and I found this video. I wore my thumb brace night and day, and did all these exercises 2X/day. I also added a few more, like stretching out my fingers against a rubber band, and massaging the base of my thumb. As the joint gradually improved, I would manually bend and unbend it as far as it could go without popping (a little more each week but I never forced it.) Once a day I did the exercises with my hand underwater while I was in warm epsom salt bath. As of today, I can bend and unbend my thumb without pain or catching. I have only the very slightest pop when I unbend it, so I'm still doing the exercises and being careful, but I have my range of motion back and can use my thumb normally again. I saved $1000 in physical therapy and got the same results!

Yeah, make sure to never force your thumb back into place! You can really injure it. I was taught to rub your other thumb at the base of your trigger thumb for several minutes, like your said. But Never force Your thumb if it gets stuck. Just leave it alone. Stay calm and relax. In time when you moving around doing stuff, it will release on its own and with the rubbing. Those splints are so helpful!
Glad to hear tho your getting better!!🎉

My trigger thumb began just recently, with popping in the morning, upon awakening. NO PAIN. I could feel the pop, but not hear it., but when I asked my husband to hold the joint gently, he could feel the pop. I just told myself a few months ago, that I should get two pot holders to get things out of the oven. I now get two, but, or of course I have to reverse this pop. I will try these exercises because the pain has been present just since yesterday, and I feel this is the first stages. At 77, I rarely suffer from ANY hand issues which is very surprising to me, because my hands are constantly busy, especially with cooking. My diet has always included lots of collagen from food. That may be the only reason I have had pain free hands. Thank you for the video.

Hi Michelle, just letting you know that this worked for me! I had determined through your video I was probably in stage two of trigger thumb on April 10th. After I had been to see a surgeon who wanted to do surgery, I found your video. I borrowed a too-large oval 8 the next day and taped it up until my correct size came in. I faithfully did your exercises and wore my brace for six weeks. During the last week I could tell the thumb was not going to trigger anymore. Now July 17th, I have been trigger free for a couple months. Only sign of anything is knuckle stiffness and it can get fatigued or "strained" when I over-use it. Thank YOU so much for helping me be proactive and heal myself without surgery!

I got trigger thumb from the way I hold my drawing pad. I was in agony and scared. I looked up why my thumb knuckle got so swollen and locked up to where I had to physically pop it back and that hurt soooo bad!
I watched your video and did the exercises, I couldn't buy a brace, didn't have the money. So I worked hard on not bending it. After a couple of days, it felt a tiny bit better so I wanted to keep doing them while waiting for my pain doc appt. I did them exactly how you suggested for two months. It helped so much my Dr said keep doing them and see where you are in two months. Thank you so much! I can almost bend it on my own, but not quite there, the knuckle might have arthritis in it but it hardly locks up on its own now. Thank you again!

Just what I needed, thank you! I started watching this video and went looking for the Oval 8 I got for the trigger finger on middle finger of opposite hand a couple years ago. It fits, hurrah! My thumb trigger (pinky too, but it's not as bad) started immediately after I had endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgery on my left hand, now 4 weeks ago. I wasn't shocked because I had read that this can happen. The info said they don't understand the association! Anyway, I figure your trigger finger exercises and stretches are just what I need. My cousin (an M.D.) said that surgery can fix trigger finger, but I am hoping to fix these the "conservative" way.

As I followed the video instructions, I felt tingling up into my elbow sort of the same as when I workout an unused muscle. I will keep up with this and hopefully see a decrease in pain over time. I have done other hand exercises for mouse hand to stay ahead of it but I guess I never considered the thumb would need a workout too. I wonder what other body parts will announce themselves in need of tlc as I age. Bring it on. Thanks for creating this video it was easy to understand and follow. ❤

By the way, I think the cause of my problems is my smartphone. That particular thumb that has the trigger issues is the one I use a tremendous amount on the phone every day. My guess is modifying how I use my thumb with my smartphone will also help

I just wanted to say thank you. I developed trigger thumb about 6 months ago or so. Diagnosed 2 months ago, scheduled Dr appt for shot when I found you. I postponed the Dr and ordered the oval 8 -3 pack of different sizes, ( really important because some days my thumb would swell up) and did the exercises. 2 months later, no trigger thumb. I still wear the oval 8 when I sleep and sometimes during the day and still do some stretching but I just wanted to thank you for the help it really worked!!

I am AMAZED! I started having “clicking” of my left thumb 3 months ago. (Luckily I’m right-hand dominant) This progressed to the point where I have been unable to bend my thumb within the last month without clicking hard and pain…and literally looking at my thumb and telling my brain to bend it…very hard to do! (I’m sure others may understand this) If I use my other hand to bend the top joint of my thumb, no problem or pain. So basically, my thumb is kind of stuck in a straight position.
I swear on my life that I only did your instructions once…and only following the video, not even doing the reps you suggested (yet!) and I can ALREADY bend my thumb without pain or brain hesitation!
I’m blown away! (But I need to stop bending it like crazy in excitement & let it rest!)
I do have another question…and maybe you have another video addressing this? …I have dealt with carpal tunnel issues for many years, especially in my dominant right hand -comes/goes-I wear a full night brace now that has been a game changer but this past summer I also developed numbness in my left thumb tip and middle finger tip that is consistent 24/7.
    Any suggestions for this?
    Thank u so much!

I am healing!!! Told by hand surgeon and orthopedic doctor I needed surgery. I listened to your video in mid September and purchased a set of the oval eights and started end of September. Thank you soooo much for this great video! I've been suffering for a few months with trigger thumb and finally saw a hand specialist a few weeks ago who recommended an Nsaid gel. This provided little relief and I wanted to try some sort of PT before getting an injection or surgery. After doing your exercises just once, my pain and stiffness went away. My oval 8 splint arrived today, so I'm going to continue with your advise to do these exercises a few times a day and wear the splint for the next 4-6 weeks. Great job!

I have been in pain on and off for several months and had no idea what was wrong with my thumb! A chiropractor said he could fix it in one visit but the pain would be the worst pain I ever felt and I have given birth twice! That did not resonate with me. I researched trigger thumb and your videos popped up. I ordered the oval 8 (I have a velcro wrist/thumb brace but have not been consistent in wearing it) and have been practicing your 3 exercises today...day one. I will follow this for the next 4-6 weeks and hopefully my thumb will be healed. Thank you so much for this information.

That's what prompted me to schedule an appointment with Michelle. Cortisone shots and surgery were recommended and I wanted to see if there was any way to resolve this without resorting to those options. Michelle has been wonderful in providing the education and path to recovery. My fear is that even after surgery I would still be having issues or it would feel different because surgery is a permanent procedure.

Ok so I'm pretty amazed right now I literally did all the exercises while first seeing this video and these work! I recently got the trigger thumb like a month now and it's been scary, annoying and painful so yeah when I'm not a work I don't straighten it and it hurts less, but as she even said now when I need it straight sometimes to grasp things at work it pops and hurts more. So to everyone out there my pain level and fixation is a #2 on her scale and so I'm not to bad off also the #3 exercise is a huge winner for me also immediately after doing like 10 slow reps of it my thumb could straighten without pain slowly and that's a huge improvement I hate being injured or feeling worn out. Thanks a ton for this video now I do need to obtain that thumb brace though so good luck to all others with this issue👍

Both my hands had underwent carpel tunnel syndrome surgeries recently (one in Feb and one just 2 weeks ago) and i read online these may be what is causing the TF. Thank you for posting this. My thumb started popping at the tip about a month ago. My first searches immediately told me it was trigger thumb, but they all also said I need surgery. I've been slabbed up in a splint or taped, but about once I week I do something dumb and pop it. That ring looks perfect! It's also nice to have exercises to do to help. I hoped I could find a solution like this as I used exercises to repair my tendonitis in my wrist.

    Great easy to understand exercises.
I have been on crutches for almost 32 years. My hand hurt last week so I squeezed it , the thumb, it popped and now it is triggering mostly in am and at night. It seems to be better in day time so I'm hoping exercises and oval 8 are my answer.
I may add CBD in for inflammation. I have heard great things about it working for inflammation.
    Thank you for !!!!

I started wearing the oval 8 splint in February. I’ve worn it almost 24 hours a day. My thumb seems to have finally healed. It has been very stiff since removing the oval 8, probably because I didn’t exercise it enough. I will say, I feel so much better. Your method truly works. I have been doing epsom salt soaks for the stiffness.
