Her command of cultural English references and the language in general is improving super quick. Even after 2-3 months there seems to be a definitive improvement.
Nascar is a culture in itself in America. Its crazy. I went to college in Dover , Delaware and there is a track there. Twice a year o. Race days covers population tripled and there was literally no place to park your car in city. tv's and trucks everywhere even parked along the shoulder of the highway.
It's been 18 years since me and my best friends saw this in theaters and we're still quoting it to this day.

Heh, I was dating a girl in Charlotte where they filmed some of the racing stuff. We went to the actual track, but it was closed for the day, so we snuck in through some gates and got some pictures with the ME car that was on display. Good times.

16:27 though it is true that stock car racing in America grew out of bootlegging and running moonshine. In fact, one of the early racers wasn’t able to defend his title because he was in jail for bootlegging.
22:23 Talladega and Daytona are known for pack racing (where all of the cars are close together for an aero advantage) and The Big One (a large, multi car wreck). Though frankly, when you see parts flying off of cars, it’s actually a good thing as it dissipates energy. The really bad wrecks where drivers were severely injured or killed aren’t generally visually bad like that.
Pre 2010 Comedy was the best
Nothing frustrates me more than when landlords don't take care of issues quickly. I manage a 50 unit complex and I hear terrible stories from my tenants and their previous places. I keep things like heaters, air conditioners, and water heaters on hand so that that stuff can be fixed immediately. Idk, it's just a pet peave of mine 🤷♂️

Great reaction. ❤ The biggest Nascar race is coming up. It is called the Daytona 500. It is the 1st and biggest race of the year. It is on Feb 18th. Not as exciting as a movie but there is always a big wreck.

Another favorite Will Ferrell movie for me is "Land of the Lost". Although character names and a few details come from the old children's series of the same name (and countless horrible attemps to redo it), this movie bears little in common with it. It isnt even fair to say it is a spoof of it. Best to describe it as re-envisioning it as a silly comedy.

I've been to several races at Talladega, and it is an EVENT. The track is off the highway in what seems to be the middle of nowhere. During race weekend it becomes the 3rd largest population in Alabama. With NASCAR's stupid rules these days, the racing isn't like it used to be, but you're guaranteed to witness a "Big One", a major crash involving a lot of cars. Its amazing that the drivers walk away. The last time I went, there were over 200,000 people there. Its the biggest party you ever saw. The best part is, I've never seen any trouble. Pretty amazing considering how many people are there.

You're so sweet, Dasha - This movie is purposely crude and irreverent and your supposed to be personally against most of the stuff that happens. When you said, "who am I to judge...", we all judge this as absolutely inappropriate and hilarious.
A couple of good, serious movies about Nascar are Days of Thunder and 3 The Dale Earnhardt Story.

DASHA! The racing movie recommendation you HAVE to react to after seeing this is "Days of Thunder" (1990) this movie is sort of a parody of Days of Thunder, I wish you knew of it before watching this film but regardless, Its such a fun film and I hope you react to it!
