It is good satire of a certain portion of American society. Exaggerated in many respects, of course, because that’s what satire does, but a hilarious movie, IMO, with some funny insights into American culture, for those of us who live in it. IYKYK

They hated this movie.
I know for some reason Europeans seem to think that this southern fried hee haw stuff (hilariously lampooned in this movie) is a perfect representation of America as a whole but it's really only representative of a subset, mostly just of southeastern states. I'm American and these types of people and this type of culture is just as foreign to me as it is to you. America's just a really really big place.

@keef5 I can understand frustration from people because we had to watch a reaction in which they were under the wrong impression. But clearly, like you said, they realized the mistake. No point in crying over spilt milk. At least some of us can let bygones be bygones.
The saws are super cool, they don't rotate, they oscillate back and forth - which will cut through hard materials, but once the teeth grip the skin, it just wobbles around from one direction to the other. There is like a few millimeters of travel, at most. Nifty design, I think Steve Mould did some slo-mo shots on his channel.
Far be it from me to defend NASCAR, because I don’t like it, but Dean is totally wrong: It’s not just about “the machines” (though the machines and pit crew are incredibly important). Driver skill and strategic tactics are a huge factor. Again, I’m NOT a fan, but you don’t give the drivers enough credit. It is a legit “sport” from the driver’s perspective.
Country Crock is butter lol. You will see it cone up in “The Office”.

To me, only The Other Guys is funny and everything else is just too goofy.
Speaking on behalf of the sane 60% of Americans, no, you would not get interested in NASCAR if you lived here. You might, however, have to get used to living among the 40% chuckleheads who do find it interesting (#MAGACAR).

Most of this movie was filmed very close to the area where I live. It's fun watching this movie and recognizing exactly where they are. The area I live is the hub of NASCAR. The majority of teams are within 30 minutes of Charlotte Motor Speedway. The 90's through to the mid to late 2000's was a fun time to be around the area since the sport was so popular at the time.
"Remember that time we got kicked out of biology for playing with Matchbox cars? Well who's retarded now?!" and "it's in the Geneva Convention" are two of my favorite lines from any movie ever

One of my favorite comedies ever
I don't know as much about NASCAR as I do about F1, but usually you can't go flat out due to needing to manage temperatures, tires and fuel. Brakes aren't going to be an issue in NASCAR like they are in F1, but tires are always going to be an issue.
This is the 3rd or 4th reaction I've seen to this movie and when the "gay" jokes come, everyone always ask what year was this movie 😅
NASCAR is a lot more strategy and adjusting as the race goes on than you think -- the whole 'system' of a car is finely tuned but certain conditions on the track, and correcting any pre-race settings you had, causes the team to adjust those settings to get the most out of the car. And it isn't always easy to find the right setup. Experience on each track helps set pre-race settings, but each year it's always slightly different. The fastest car the whole race doesn't always win, and it often doesn't. Driving styles and personalities shape public opinion, and it's highly competitive.
Btw, that was a "boogety boogety" by the announcer indeed, a former driver and long-time TV host -- he always starts off every race with it.
Great review, but yall are super uninformed about how in shape racers need to be. I'm not even into racing like that, but I know they have to be in top shape. Especially F1 drivers, with the G forces they have thrown on their bodies, and how hard they have to press the brake pedal to stop on every turn.
There's a TH-camr that got to drive one of the cars, and they told him to press the brake as hard as he could. He only registered about 10% of pressure and they have to brake around 70% or more on every turn for the brakes to be effective. And they lose so much weight from sweat during the races because of all the strenuous activity and no a/c
Fact check me on this, but I think these guys go 250mph, dont know what that is in metric... 400-ish? Fact check me on this again but I don't think anything goes that fast backwards.
Also coming from a guy who hated the idea of NASCAR I went to one one time drunk off my ass with a bunch of friends and I got to tell you it's probably one of the most adrenaline pumping things you'll ever go to. The force on your body when the cars pass is indescribable.
Crepes are good. They're not exactly just thin pancakes. They have a different texture because they have a high egg to flour ratio. They hold together much better than pancakes. It has a similar type of batter to a German pancake or Dutch baby, but is cooked differently.
That reminds me of the movie Hot Rod.

I have never cared for nascar but this movie was the funniest thing growing up and it never fails to make me laugh, also I got head for the first time this was playing so it holds 2 special places in my heart

That's about the reaction I'd expect from Aussies watching a very American-coded NASCAR movie 😂 I know Hendo said he saw it in theaters, but you guys should definitely film your reactions to Super Troopers (and the "recent" sequel). The original actually came out 5 years before Talladega Nights, but in my opinion, the humor in it has aged MUCH better than it did in this film.

You guys are clueless. Nascar takes a lot more talent and physical fitness than you imagine. If you ever tried driving an 800 hp car at 200 mph , inches away from other cars, while sitting in a 150° car , you would fail miserably within minutes. Nascar drivers do this for 3-4 hrs at a time. Nascar drivers have much more stamina than many team sports require.
