Good reaction. Hope you enjoyed. Not sure if it matters to you or not, but this is real USA history, not a fictional story. It is also one of the most historicallly accurate hoillywood movies ever made. While there's a couple minor variations from real history, most is 100% accurate (including direct quotations from eye witness accounts and judicial records). The heroic ambush scene where Wyatt Earp walks in complete hollywood drama-fashion straight into the gun fight and stands in the middle of the crossfire (which never happens except in ridiculous movies) actually happened IRL. There were trials about the OK corral shootout and susequent murders. Whole bunch of important history about the stabilization and civilization of the west and the real town called Tombstone (which still has the site of the shootout as a historical landmark, but it's smaller than what is shown in the movie).

If you didn't know, this is a true story. It's dramatized, but it's based on real people and real events.
Doc was a dentist on the East Coast and had watched his mother die of tuberculosis when he was younger. When he was diagnosed with tuberculosis, he closed his dental practice and headed west to become a gambler. He seemed fearless because he had no problem with dying in a gunfight. That would be a quicker and less painful death than tuberculosis.

The ranch owner "Hooker" was played by Charlton Heston. One of the last times we all got to see him on the screen. He was a MAJOR star in the late 50's, and all through the 60's and 70's. Planet of the Apes. Soylent Green. The Omega Man (remade by Will Smith in "I Am Legend"). The Ten Commandments. If you want to see one of the very best dystopian movies, watch "Soylent Green". The "medicine" Maddy is using is called laudnam. It's pronounced lawd num it was a mixture of alcohol and opium. Curly bill was smoking opium in a Chinese opium den. It was referred to as chasing the dragon. The doors back then didn't have peep holes. If you want to see a master class in acting you should react to the movie Soldier. Kurt Russell is the main character and he only has like 170 words of dialog in the whole movie. He conveys so much with just his eyes and body language. Johnny Ringo answers " Do well what you do" meaning do what you do best being drunk..so Doc retorts "Let Appella the Jew believe it not I"Which roughly to me means Tell somebody else that lie because drinking is not what i do best.then Ringo says while caressing his gun
" youth is the teacher of fools"
So Doc says "rest in peace"
You could update it a little and it translates to " It's your funeral."

Great reaction! Learning American history through Hollywood movies is okay as long as you realize that most of it is embellished. It is entertainment after all. The reason the Shootout At The OK Corral is so famous is because things like this were such a rare occurance. There are only 2 documented cases of guys lining up at high noon in the street and having a shootout. If you believed Hollywood movies you would think this happened everyday! When questions are raised about why the group would continue the war with the cowboys the lead line is "I have lots of friends" and Doc says simply "I don't". Those two words reveal a deep and lasting affection that could not be better explained in 4 hours of run time. Brilliant writing and delivery.

32:09..Ringo was scared.. he's facing a guy just as fast as him and who's hardly afraid of dying. Looks like Doc psyched him out with the death stare/grin, too. Kilmer got robbed of an Oscar..been around 50 movies about Earp, but none played Doc the way biographers said he was like he did. The freindship between the two was as you saw, Doc got lots of sore losers at the card tables. One had local law as his pals and even though it was plain self-defense, they were going to hang him. Wyatt stopped it earning Doc's loyalty for life. And I find your accent quite charming, by the way...Your haters can eat a boot.

Don't worry about your pronunciations too much, if you want to ask that's okay too.
    1) Sometime some pronunciations aren't exactly right, but it's easy enough to tell what you mean.
    2) most importantly how you use the language (even if a few odd words aren't pronounced perfectly) is better than many people who have English as a first language.
So don't worry about the rude people, you're doing fine.

When I was a kid the Gunfight at the OK Corral was still famous enough for everyone to know what that meant. Multiple movies and many TV shows revolved around that single gunfight. Now it's extremely obscure and passes with barely a comment as a lone action scene in this movie.

Maddie and Wyatt were never actually married. His later (actual) wife tried to cover up that relationship when they were old, because by the standards of the early 20th century it would have been immoral and she wanted to protect his reputation. Eventually he became so famous that historians studied his life in great detail and found out about Maddie anyway. Also, the "gunfight at the OK corral" was the most famous shootout in the history of the old West. This film takes some liberties with the facts, but that shootout is carefully historical.

Moments like 35:17 are why I love to watch Biss 🤣 Love the genuineness. Hey Biss, if you ever visit the USA you can go to Tombstone, which is an actual town in Arizona that is still there and has preserved a lot of its history. My family stopped there once and I got to see the O.K. Corral where the gunfight took place, and the Birdcage Saloon where you can still see the bullet holes left by gunfire from unruly patrons. And, on the way you can stop in Kentucky and say hello to my horses. Other Westerns I'd suggest are "The Outlaw Josey Wales", starring and directed by Clint Eastwood, which he called one of the highlights of his career, and the original 1969 "True Grit" in which John Wayne won his only Oscar.

I have visited the town of Tombstone, Arizona. They keep the old town as old as possible, preserving what used to be there and they show you the spot where the famous O.K. Corral gunfight happened. There's a cemetery close by with the stones for the cowboys who died. I almost forgot to add... the old theater still stands too. It still has the gunshot holes from the cowboys who watched the shows and shot at the ceiling. It was a fun visit.

I'm so glad that you reacted to this movie bisscute. A couple reasons I'm glad you watched this movie.
    1. You watched a film that was filmed nearby my current hometown. I live in Tucson, Arizona in the USA and Tucson is part of the area of the Old Pueblo. Another town within the Old Pueblo is the historic town Tombstone. Nowadays it is called Tombstone and it is more of a sight visit to people.
    2. I'm glad that you got some little knowledge of not only on American history, but pacifically on the Old West. Tombstone isn't just one of the actual towns from the Old West, but it has some history in American culture. The historic event of the OK Corral shootout and the historic figure Wyatt Earp.
Love you bisscute and I'm so glad that that you reacted to a film that was filmed in my home state here in the USA. Back in the old days a lot of films that were filmed for western genre's or for the southwest desert look use to be filmed in Arizona, but nowadays are filmed in New Mexico. I hate New Mexico, because I grew up with bad memories in that state.
There are a few movies that were filmed in the Old Pueblo that I would recommend, but honestly there is one that I highly recommend. You reacted to one historic figure of the Old West and now I would like to recommend the next historic figure from the Old West. Please would you watch and react to Young Guns. It's a movie about the legendary outlaw Billy The Kid.

Learning to flash-spin a revolver takes time. When you get a new revolver the weight will be different, necessitating more practice to become proficient with it.
The fact that Doc could transfer the skill to a tin cup, mimiking someone else's moves to a T, while drunk, shows his incredible dexterity and demonstrates why he was so deadly..

11:48 something people miss until you watch it a few times is that Doc copies Ringo's pistol stunt move for move with his cup. While it's impressive enough with the revolver, doing it with an unbalanced tin cup is unreal. That's why Ringo tried to back down at the last fight: he knew from that moment in the Oriental that Doc was better than him.

Hello Miss Biss!😊 Your outfit is very nice! I don't have any trouble understanding you, Biss. Some people are just mean. This film and "3:10 to Yuma" (2007) are my favorite westerns. Like this film it has a very strong core cast. You should watch it sometime. "Go heels" means to carry a gun.😉 Doc had Tuberculosis, commonly known as TB. It is a disease of the lungs. Opium dens were common during this time where people would sit around for hours and get high. I believe that is where Curly Bill came from before the shooting. The showdown to disarm the cowboys is the legendary "Gunfight at the OK Corral".😉 I lived in Colorado Springs for 9 years, Biss. It is a very nice area. Doc died with bare feet. I think he thought he would die with his boots on.😉 Great reactions to this well cast and well acted western, Miss Biss!!!!🎬👏👏👏👏 Doc is my favorite, too!

They used a forensic reconstruction and the eyewitness accounts to recreate the Gunfight at the OK Corral scene. It is the most famous shootout in American Western history. Also, the movie stayed very close to the legend. In all those fights Wyatt Earp was never wounded. The river scene where he rushes the group of cowboys actually happened. The actual coat Wyatt was wearing was filled with bullet holes, but he didn’t get a scratch.
Kevin Costner also did a larger bio picture of Wyatt Earp that came out around the same time as this one that is an equally good movie.

    "I'm your huckleberry..."
Fun Fact: The Black Stud Horse ridden by Kurt Russell in the movie was owned by Joe Rider of Rider Ranches of Tacna, Arizona.
Becoming Doc Holliday Fact: Val Kilmer practiced for a long time on his quick-draw speed and gave his character a Southern Aristocrat accent. The southern accent is an authentic touch, as Holliday was a cousin (several generations removed) of Gone With The Wind (1936) author Margaret Mitchell.
Western Connection Fact: The excerpt from William Shakespeare's Henry V (1599) that is recited by Mr. Fabian (Billy Zane) is the same passage that Dutton Peabody (Edmond O'Brien) speaks to himself while walking down the street in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962), which I highly recommend.
Historical Fact: The line quoted by Doc (Val Kilmer) at the end of the fight at the OK Corral is historically true and was reported in the Tombstone papers reporting the fight. As extraordinary as the scene is in which Wyatt kills Curly Bill Brocius in the creek, it is true. During the shoot-out in the creek, when Wyatt kills Curly Bill, the next person he shoots is Johnny Barnes. As in real life, Wyatt shoots Barnes in the stomach. However, Barnes was not killed on-site. He managed to escape, and died in a farmhouse. However, before dying, he told the story of how Wyatt really did walk into a hail of Curly Bill's gunfire unscathed, walked right up to Bill, and shot him point blank with both barrels of a double-barreled shotgun.

I loved ur reaction to this movie, as usual!!!! Watching movies is so, much more fun with you!! I have heard u apologize for ur English and like u said, being unclear about specific years and stuff, and listen, a majority of the people watching w us DON'T know exact timelines and true history of events, hahaha. So, don't apologize for that. And, to the TROLLS being, "rudish" to u about that or ur English, please, don't give them the time or satisfaction of even acknowledging their statements. As I said before your English is one of your most endearing qualities in my opinion. It is one of the things that make you so, so adorable. Of course it is always good to learn new things and be better at whatever it is you learned. But for yourself. Not for someone that has nothing better to do n their lives than to criticize others. Besides, I bet ur English is a lot better than their Romanian, hahaha. So until they can speak better Romanian then you can speak English, don't mind them😂😂!! Anyways I just wanted to say you are absolutely awesome, beautiful, adorably cute n so many ways, and perfect just the way you are.
That being said, another great western to watch would be "Young guns". It's about Billy the kid and his group of regulators. It's a really fun movie and a gr8 watch. I think you would really enjoy it and I know I would really enjoy watching it with you. Also, "The magnificent seven" is a really good Western too.

Doc's wife/gf didn't want to kill him faster.... she just wanted to help Doc go out on his "own terms".
Doc didn't want to be viewed as a cripple, or weak, or even as if he was incapable of taking care of himself. He knew he had TB (Consumption due to lung damage) and was going to go out on HIS terms, not the way others told he "had to" go.
So when people told him NOT to drink/smoke, he drank and smoked. When they told him to "rest in bed", he hops on a horse and goes out with Wyatt. And when he told him not to partake of "marital" issues, you know darn well that Doc was going to do those "marital urges" as soon as he was capable of doing it. Basically, she didn't try to speed things up (even if she did help a little in the timing), she simply helped her man live his life, and face his death on HIS terms and nobody else's.
