As well as the people in the Fiat 500s yeeting themselves off cliffs, that alpine route will also soon have a bunch of British lads with three Mini's in a bus also going too fast through that route ;)
Love the mountain bus route! And the tram, too - more for the scenic route than the practicality of a 40km transport that will have traffic backed up behind it as far as you can see. What's their hurry, anyway? Don't they appreciate the majesty of the riverside vista? No, of course not! They're in too big of a flipping hurry to get where they're going and complete whatever sim task the game has assigned them to. The tram is a reminder to slow down and enjoy the beauty around us. An important lesson, for sure.
What would be nice, speaking about your "high detailing" on routes, would be to have some Petrol stations or roadside "dives" (aka Pubs) along the way the long routes. That would give some uniqueness to each route I think. Just a thought.
Only one TARDIS was a police box, and even then only because its chameleon circuit was broken. Additionally, it had been stolen. To that end, it is in no way surprising there isn't one in the town.
For cash however, that grain to food factory is a cash cow when its up and running. Around 4,5-5 mill one way, depending on ship typ. The whole thing pays for it self in the first delivery :D

Awesome vid so far - I even downloaded the map and started myself. I got a recommendation though that while I was playing - Since other cars get stuck behind vehicles currently using a Bus Stop due to a single lane, why not add a mod which allows you to still use single lane but allows you to upgrade the street to have a slip street so bus/trams can stop and other vehicles can drive pass. The Mod is called; "Street Slim Bus and Truck Zones"

My solution - a cheeky little roundabout COMPLETE WITH a one-way Bus Lane for traffic heading from the Shady Palms side towards Heresy...and very nice it is too!
so just for reference, if you allow the game to auto build roads between cities and industries, or if you build them yourself in the map editor. you will always get that disconnected error if you remove existing connections between cities or industries. its not talking about any of your lines, its talking about the connection the AI cars use. when placing them back you can even get an error that the route is too long too. so you should always make sure that if you replace existing roads between cities, that the route you are planning to lay down actually is not too long. just removing small random curves and replacing them with straights should result in a shorter route and therefore should be fine though. if it was the opposite, where you made a ugly straight road in the map editor, and then tried to make it weave trough terrain when playing the game, it would be possible for it to become too long of a distance.

As the man says, there is no real economic game here. I am now starting 1814 in my 1800 start, 1/4 speed game on this map. We lose money on road and limited rail (wooden tramways!), but shipping pulls in 8 million a quarter, so we're well flush. It was financially risky for about 1 year while I maxed out the loans, but a ship going the length of the map pulls in 2 million on delivery. So, as the time comes to accomodate urban 'redistricting' for railways, I'll be able to bulldoze to my heart's content.
I did do the static 1950 start like the Colonel. After the first ship route up and down the length of the map I had so much money I made a rail route up and down the length of the map running two Big Boys. About "20 years" in and money is meaningless. But it's still fun building new stuff with all the money.

What this game needs is funiculars. For fun up the mountain or to connect Metropolis to the New Bongolia - Hill Valley scenic route...
