- So we got the big Street Fighter 6 Season update and patch, akuma, all that fun stuff. Balance changes are crazy! But don't forget every patch updates world tour too and this time around there's some potentially significant stuff in there in terms of lore, and what just may be hints of the future of what the next DLC characters coming to the game may be!

Alright I grinded myself to dust on all those balance changes, so lets take a look at what got updated in World Tour and... oh... ok. Looks like there's something to this here, adding a new questline thats explicitly just shoving in your face M. Bison is coming back as is kinda his deal(he never stays dead for long). Its all in the video, the question is, is this just a lore update, or is this a direct preview of whats to come in Season 2 and beyond for Street Fighter 6 as far as DLC characters go? There are 2 things I’d like to have. 1 is an Australian character preferably indigenous. The other is a Jojo character or at least somewhat adjacent. Street Fighter is full of references to Jojo to the point where some are just ripped right from it. So I’d like to see some form of guest from the franchise. If not directly then they could get Baoh who’s series is made by the same creator and was a precursor to Jojo

that's not ever happening, people would cry too much and they're too scared of having another SF3 situation
the only time they tried, it was incredibly unpopular and almost killed the franchise. People look back fondly on SF3 cause time heals all wounds, it was aggressively not what people wanted back when it actually came out.

I just want Makoto, Alex, Hugo, Urien, G, Sakura, Dudley, Sean, or any of the SF3 characters really. If a character were to comeback from SF5, I would love for my SF5 main to comeback, Zeku. But as someone who is Filipino, I would LOVE to see a new Filipino character. Could be someone who has the fighting style of Arnis, Taekwondo, Judo, boxing, or Jiu-Jitsu, since these are the most popular martial arts, in the Philippines.
I want your list but add C.Viper to it.
Sean would be cool, the rest, maybe Zeku or a new strider that is his studant?
As for a filipino character, arnis would be great, we have juri for taekwondo, ed for boxing, laura for jiujitsu, abel for judo, so a new character with a new martial art would be a nice call.

Allow me to make a gentleman's challenge that Dudley would outsell Bison.
I think they'll slowly build up to his return either at the endpoint or in SF7.
I mean considering what they did with Gill and Seth last time around I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t show up in one of the later seasons
Something weird is that the guy in Mexico, who might be Bison, seemingly attacked the remnants of Shadowloo who came looking for him. This is a little odd, because while Bison was never a "I love my minions" type of guy, he still never just straight up attacked them like that, especially if they *wanted* to come work for him. The horse thing is also strange, so it makes me wonder if either it isn't actually Bison, or whatever Bison did to reincarnate (Since every other method seems to not work, Shadowloo being basically gone means no spare empty bodies, and the ones that are alive are able to resist and expel Bison) has caused him to change as a person. If it's a new person, they might be just making an excuse to bring back Bison's moveset with a new character, which would at least please his gameplay mains.

Kind of hope they wait until at least next game or a later season to bring bison back. I kind of like the idea of the story going forward without him for a bit, makes the world feel realistic. Of course, at some point he needs to come back, but I'd leave it a bit longer

If Bison does return, PLEASE make it fast walkspeed, buttonsy bison again. Not the slow paced monstrosity he was in SFV. Bison is my ST main and one of my co-main chars in SF4 and I hated his SFV incarnation for the most part :(. That said also the Shadaloo Gorilla takes precedence above all, bison as a gentleman would gladly give up his spot for him.
I felt the same way about akuma in sf5 I just hated how he played so I picked up Ryu

6 being post- *Bison* (even if Shadaloo is still around in some form) was like the whole point of the story setting. Undo that this soon and you might as well have had him in the launch roster.
JP's barely finished establishing himself as the new power player, Ed's just starting to really get behind the Neo Shadaloo idea, and Fang/AKI are part of yet another splinter cell somewhere in the mix. Hyping up all these new threads seems like wasted effort if they're gonna pull the rug out from under all of it and have Bison ride a magnificent white horse over their bodies before we even get to season 3.
This might be wishful thinking, but I think that at the very least, we’re dealing with a changed Bison here. We all know how ambitious he was before. It’s been years since V. If he’s alive, why hasn’t he made contact with his followers and tried to take Shadaloo back? Why all the mystery? He’s either unwilling or unable to resume his former role as Dictator.
It’s very interesting that the first thing we hear about him doing is something so gentle as healing a dying animal, even if only to use it as a mount. Doesn’t really sound like the Bison we know. Ryu and Charlie’s efforts in V may not have destroyed him entirely, but they might have succeeded in permanently altering his soul, or maybe splitting it into fragments that don’t quite know what they are.
A setup like that would allow them to keep Bison around and sell DLC, but relegate him to more of a background role in the story so the new characters can have their time in the sun, at least for awhile. They did say to expect a surprise. Surely they’re aware that brining him back with the exact same trick AGAIN wouldn’t be much of a surprise?

Even if they just do something kinda cliche like making J.P kill Bison as soon as he is revived would be fine as long as Bison is not the main evil guy anymore.
@@MisterAnimann Here's hoping, especially since I always felt Capcom never properly followed through on the whole body-hopping concept the story always teases at. A character who could theoretically come back with a new body and fighting style in each game/every other game would have been a fun concept, but Bison's design is so iconic that even when he *does* die he just comes back as....M. Bison hah.
To be fair, if F.A.N.G's involved in anything concerning Shadaloo, it's in the hope to revive Bison. The man is obsessed.

Not only is that FANG's hat, but the way Foo is written makes it look exactly like his glasses. Double "o" is the lenses, and the cross in the "f" is the temple.
Unsure if the vertical line in "f" is anything, but it it is it could be the new lock of hair he has in his SF6 redesign, or just framing his head
I find so weird that Juri is helping bring back bison. you know the guy who killed her family and destroyed most of her life.
tbh I had the same reaction until I thought about it for a bit.
they've been leaning in on the whole she's still obsessed with him because she sees herself as having 'missed her chance' to kill him. the possibility of him being alive or being able to be brought back is the one chance she can think of to tie up that "loose end", presumably. she talks in the cutscene about how she doesn't care if shadaloo comes back because she'll just topple it again, etc., even though she didn't really have much of a hand in its fall to begin with.
I think it's illogical from the perspective of like, anyone else, but woman has serious baggage & seems to have decided that going to therapy is illegal, and getting to kill bison -- if he is indeed not dead -- will fix all her problems. it probably won't, but hey, juri's a very normal and stable person who handles failure well, I think.

As a point of comparison, right now Heihachi is "completely dead" in the Tekken universe and not playable in T8. But even that I doubt will stick lol.

I know this is just me being bitter and stubborn but going from Akuma hype to Bison hype really irks me. I get it; Bison is so obviously the next best thing to work towards in order to get the widest appeal amongst sf fans and thus get easy sales but man… I just want an actual sf3 sequel story; not more pandering to sf2/alpha.
SF6 was not shaping as a SF3 sequel, but as a whole new arc and i fucking loved it.
Bringing Bison back would kill the story before it really start.

So many of the fighters’ current characterizations and stories are designed around them living in a post-Bison world, imo bringing him back in SF6 so he can be the big bad again would just cheapen a lot of characters’ current stories

I truly don't want Bison back at least for a little bit. The new Illuminati, Neo-Shadowloo, JP, G. There are plenty of antagonist to choose from for at least ONE GAME. Bring him back for SF 7 or 8. Bison is a great character but always being the mastermind gets a little stale.

There's an easy fix for this: SiRN Bison, a collection of Bison's data without any narrative ties. Even though he's dead, it could justify him being playable, and the story could focus on Neo Shadaloo.
He's already back. Should just accept it and focus your energies on what you want not what you don't want. That is the secret to Bison's power. People love him and focus on wanting him back.
i mean with jp and g running around bison could always come back in a way that he's forced into an unsteady alliance with the good guys to combat a force that is either more powerful or worse than he is in order to vanquish the new foe. bring g back, make him the big bad, bison teams with ryu and the gang to take him down, life goes back to normal. or maybe g doesn't die and the fight continues? maybe jp cuts in? bring in a totally new villain? the possibilities are endless.
Two SFV characters, one new character, and one SF2 character is literally what season 1s DLC already was. I would be so incredibly disappointed if that was the case again.
I honestly expect 1 SF2 character each season, but can we get some returning characters that weren't just in SFV? Dee Jay is literally the only one

I meant all returning characters. Not just returning characters from SF2. Of all the returning characters in the game including DLC, Dee Jay is the only one that wasnt in SFV. I would like some characters that didn't make it to 5 like Makoto, Dudley, C Viper, Hakan, Fei Long, Sodom, Necro, Sean, Elena, Hugo, Gen, Rolento. But honestly I'll take anyone from SF3, Alpha, or Final Fight at this point.

If Bison does return, that means Rose likely will as well. In her SFV story, she stated that she had to somehow ensure that Bison stayed alive, seeing as the world would end without the embodiment of chaos to stop G’s plan. However, she did say that she had to go back into the past in order for that to happen. So, this opens up a possibility:
SF6 takes place after Rose already went back into the past. This would explain why the storyline seems to derail from the one SFV was building up to. It would also explain why the storyline seems to be repeating, with new characters replacing old ones and such.
Although going in this direction wouldn’t make much sense and is probably not what they’re doing with the story.

If this is true, setting this game after SF3 will have been completely pointless.
Half of the roster is already SF2 characters and they couldn't spare a spot for a SF3 character even in the first season of DLC.
The limp justification has been that at least the old characters' stories would move forward, but even that would be out the window in this case, because just about every character that's actually relevant to the main story has some beef with him or wants revenge.
They might as well bring back Evil Ryu while they're at it.

I'd rather the World Warrior Cast as NPC Mentors, like Guile as Luke's Mentor.
I think the flaw that ALOT of people approach SF6 with, is the assumption that 3 is a canon part of the timeline. Which based on the events of SFV, I think it's clear that they've basically retconned a bunch of it's elements and merged them to create a new timeline, which is where SF6 is at. So I don't think it was pointless at all. It's more like the fans attachment to SF3 as a storyline is was(which is true for a lot of canon in this series).
I also think the concept of "moving forward" is still present in the game. Lots of characters have moved on from previous vices(and become better for it). Bison is more or less just a force of nature, as opposed to someone holding any of these characters back. If we're talking symbolically, he's basically just a really heavy handed concept of the "test" of life, which occur cyclical for everyone.
They should bring back Evil Ryu, tho.
And I don’t mean as a seperate Kage “function”. Ryu is a much more interesting character when he has to struggle against the dark side of the Hadou. Having him just be a character at peace with himself isn’t as fun. It’s fine as a temporary thing, but eventually I want them to reintroduce that internal struggle, as it should be a lifelong fight imo, not something that is simply mastered and moved past. It’s more realistic and relatable too.
Right now he feels like a Yang without the Yin.

The only problem I have is that all the narrative stuff we are getting makes the game feel like it's a direct sequel to sf5, story wise it still doesn't feel post sf3 and I know no sf3 characters are in yet but even if they were there I don't think it would change the vibe of the story the way that it is right now

@@rooflemonger Personally I've always felt that Satui no hado and psycho power are a potato potahto type of thing, while the text of the game certainly doesn't state it that way, I think there's room for interpretation on whether Lily has some surface similarities with these folks.

I just thought it might be worth pointing out that the test subject you find in the test tube in the Shadaloo base *might be random. When I was playing the game prior to watching this video and went through the side mission. The test subject was someone completely different. (It was a dude using E-Honda's move set.) Not sure what might factor into which test subject falls out from the psycho power test tank thing, or if it's purely random. (Worth noting that Honda is one of the few master character I'd fully maxed out prior.)

I'm Filipino on my dad's side of the family. And I've ALWAYS wanted a street fighter character to represent the Philippines so I really hope that part is true. With that said though I never really cared for Bison so if he comes back I'm stoked for the people who like him, but I could take or leave that part.
.... Also I liked Falke in V, I know she wasn't a major hit with a lot of the fan base but I liked her a lot and would like to see her back. I'd be curious to see what they would do to redesign her the same way they redesigned ed

I wasn't even aware they were updating World Tour. I bet if the dlc roster wasn't leaked people would have been combing through that stuff and way more people would know.
There was definitely what feels like a hint towards Ed in the AKI questline, but like you said, we already knew.

It would be interesting if it was a fakeout. But given Rose's vision from SFV it very likely is Bison. I just hope they do something interesting with the guy. Like Bison with Amnesia or a slighty altered personality or new goals, maybe he's more spite and he just wants to destroy the world instead of conquering it. Something to spice it up.

m. bison is inseperable from street fighter. the only games he doesnt appear was sf1 (but then again *nobody cares about sf1s story aside from ryu scarring sagat*) and sf3. where they just had "half blue, half red man in a speedo who can resurrect himself over and over and leads a cult."
by the way, i doubt weve seen the last of any major villains. seth, gill, etc. they're all in the pool for potential dlc.

I still think Gill will drop in the future honestly. The Red/Blue Purple color palette is so blatant but also the Purple can easily just be psycho power too which makes sense but when Gill drops, and he will, is gonna be lit.
When Ed came out and I played on his stage and saw what was happening in the background, I immediately interpreted that as an M. Bison resurrection.
He was my main in 5 and my secondary in ST and 4, and while I love his function, him returning feels like a slap on the face of not only the storymode of 5 but also his absence in 3. As M.Bison player I would be fine with a new character with his moves but I can't speak for everyone.

I was a Falke and Menat main in 5 and would actually love to see both of them return. Menat was an amazing new character to the franchise, however, Falke not so much.
Even though I loved her, I'm hoping they give her a total redesign and make her bad ass.

To speculate a bit further just for fun. The Philippines are know for the martial art Kali, which is stick fighting, so maybe a reinvention of Eagle? Just an idea
My take on this: I think this is either gonna be a Bison with no memories of who he was, or a Bison who's found peace and moved on from being the dictator of Shadoloo. That way, we get Bison back, and get a new villian as well. Everyone wins.
An amnesiac Bison is honestly the best way to reintroduce him without cheapening Charlie’s sacrifice and the current characterization of a handful of fighters, plus imo him having amnesia is the only way I’d see him willingly becoming a master in World Tour and passing on his skills and personal tidbits to a student

@@spman2099 I looked it up. Bison was 32nd. For reference, Adon was 33rd, Ibuki was 31st, and Alex was 29th. Interestingly, skullomania was 16th and Q was 4th, two characters I didn't think anyone but me liked.

It's a way to quick to come to some conclusion if Bison would return although since you kinda skim off going through the documents which does have mentioned 1 point about someone of interest in Mexico that seems to be reviving a horse. And given some clues during both World Tour & arcade mode Dhalsim did sense some sort of power coming from a certain character name Lily, don't really know if she has any links to whats being on the document but we won't know for sure.
And if Bison is to be quote alive it could be someone different maybe a reincarnation of him but as a different character (kinda sorta like Reina to Heihaichi in Tekken but that's a big IF).

people absolutely do not want new villains. Fighting games people want their comfort food, not new things. There is no new character that would outsell Bison, and people vote with their dollar.

By the discription Bison probably looks a little like his Battle outfit 1 from Street Fighter V. He got the Tattered uniform while showing off his white hair without the hat. Some of the Battle Outfit 1's characters had in V ended up becoming their designs in 6 like Ryu or Akuma
