I got this error message on my 2020 4Runner. I went under the car, located the neutral switch, removed the bolt, nut, and locking washer, sprayed some WD40 on it and moved the unit back and forth a few times. Put the bolt, nut and locking washer back on and the error message went away. I did not remove the unit from the post. It was stuck on there. I recommend trying this before visiting the dealer.
Both times I’ve gotten this error message, it’s been a battery at 75% charged. I load tested the battery and it tested fine. Disconnected the negative cable and charged the battery to 100%. Error message went away.
Ok so this just happened to me yesterday. Had to drive 50 miles home with the warning light. Found your comment and remembered I spilled water yesterday. Thanks.
Very easy disconnect the battery and blow the horn for 5 minutes to remove the power still circulating. This here is going to reset the sensors. So you shouldn't see all the crazy stuff in your dashboard. The problem is the "p r n d module" it connects to "baby harnest" it gets its juice from where you charge your phone in center console 2.0 charge. Remove knob, lift the whole cup holder thing e assembly lol disconnect the module from harnest. Clean it inside. Dry it with blow dryer. Hopefully it's not too corroded. But once that's dry. Your good. It's a safety feature.
I got that message after boosting the car battery. (Car sat too long in really cold weather). Disconnected the negative terminal, waited a few minutes, reconnected. All is good.
I bought a brand new RAV4 hybrid. It hasn’t been a day and I am already seeing this message (and few other malfunction messages) Please advise! Your reply will be much appreciated.
Hi I drove through a deep puddle and the car died. It is a rental cAr. There. Are a few codes that say dealer. Park brake malfunction, drive start control malfunction, secondary brake collision system malfunction or some tjingime that. The car is dry now . Do you know how to reset theses codes so I can start it and return it
I went through a water puddle it rained this morning. Had my cruise control on and when the check engine came up saying drive start control malfunction visit your dealer, the cruise control disengaged and would not turn back on. I had this happen before I just took my brother OBD2 scanner and erased the code and hadn’t came back up for months til I hit another water puddle
My car wouldn’t start. I went to go buy a brand new battery came home and installed it and everything turned on worked fine but as soon as I put the car and drive, it would not accelerate then I tried to reverse and it wouldn’t go when I bought maybe 2 feet and then stopped.
Thanks for your time and advice to us Toyota owners!!

I was cranking my Camry without pressing the brake and it caused this light to come on. Turn off car for a while and then crank pressing brake.👌

Yes. Also check battery.
75% of this issue is a spilled drink near the shift knob. You might have to replace the the harnest that connects from p r n d module that lights up

@@angeleldhose6453 Disconnected the battery (negative terminal only) then reconnected.
How long should you wait until you bring your car to a dealer ( for light to go out)?
Thanks this video has been really useful keep up the good work

same thing happened with my rental, you have to have an obd2 to clear the codes
Toyota was trying to charge me 7000. But definitely check the fuses too
Which fuse?
@dom.2o3 the ones in inside the hood black box. Check them one by one make sure all is good

Thank you so much!
What if it's coming on in the morning when you go to start your car it's in park and it's almost like the battery is dead when you try to start it

Sounds like mine , have you found the issue
Mine just came on this morning but it also cut off while i was in reverse and said no power is that the same issue
you for got to mention a bad battery which is one of the main reasons these warning lights come up
A bad battery will affect everything, like having no gas.
My wont start and in addition to the code in question the brake pedal code comes as well.
In a tough spot my self
Any update on what the issue was? Mine just gave me a hard time starting and then the message popped up
I have this problem but my car will also over heat if it sit to long
Did you ever figure out what was your problem
mine was saying engine? and the engine icon was still on
Hi What about "Brake Override Systems Failiure" ? message on dashboard. 2016 Toyota highlander xle . Thanks
Happen to me twice
Mine also got the same issue for 11k's only.
Happen to my car, it's my problem until now because I bring in my Dealer they check after a month showing up again. 😔
