I was the guy in the white car that Matt and his team so generously rescued. At first I had no idea that they were a recovery service so when they said they would pull me out "no charge" I thought it was just a joke.😅 We had tried to pull it out right before they showed up, and I put the tow rope hook in a bad spot and it ended up tearing through the bottom of the car and my spare tire 😂 needless to say I was pretty bummed out... then these freaking awesome guys showed up and pulled me out like it was no big deal. I was so beyond grateful 🙏 and they gave me a shirt on top of it all, which I will always wear with thanks. 😊 thank you so so much! @mattsoffroadrecovery you guys made my day!
We were in Sand Hallow a few weeks ago and went by to see Matt's Off Road. Unfortunately Matt and his crew were not there but the Morvair and Banana were parked in front and the girl at the front desk let us take photos sitting in both. My son thought that was the greatest thing since we are both big fans of the channel. When we were ready to leave we asked if we could check out the Wrecker and she gladly opened up the shop and let us take photos and check it out. Can't wait to see when they present the Golden Nugget and Rokon to Ed.
My wife and I are full-time RVers and we had Hurricane Utah in this seasons route. We stopped by MORR since I am a loyal follower. The crew was inside filming but that did not stop them from telling the girls up front to ask us to wait. They opened up about 20 minutes later and welcomed us all in; there was prolly 6-8 fans. They are great people and we got to meet everyone except Lizzy. It definitely was a highlight for me.
For Future reference the Traction Control on the newer Nissans is in the on screen menus. Using Steering Wheels controls high light the gear icon( Settings) Scroll down to VDC Setting>Toggle On/Off. The Traction Control light should come on just above the 50mph mark on the Speedo.
Is that the same Nissan that can be turned off remotely at any time? Better keep that social credit score clean or no driving for you. Better keep your carbon footprint down or no driving for you.
One time I was driving and it started raining very hard and my cars traction control kicked in and made my car slow down dangerously with no visibility and other vehicles behind me. I quickly turned off the traction control and was able to get back to a safe speed, albiet with some hyrdroplaning..but still safer than going 40mph on the highway when the guy behind you might be at 50mph and cant see you. My point is, thats a really bad decision Nissan made i would hate to deal with a menu.
I retired from the military 9 months ago and got into TH-cam and found your channel and truth be told, I can binge your videos forever but I have a life so I put it at the end of my days and watch them until I fall asleep. Wish I lived close to you, I'd personally tell you how much I appreciate the great deeds you do on mission and off. Keep up the great work and can't wait to see the wrecker on mission. Love you all, you're all Gods children for certain.
The main reason it cost to get pulled out by him I believe is the fuel to drive out there plus a bit to keep his business running but since he has to pull out so many people he doesn't have to charge as much as other people
@@ryandoyle4344 depends on how close I am to where the buggies need to be put, if it's 2 or more rows from me I'll put it in the middle of the 4 lines for the parking spots but if it's a few spaces from me I'll go take it and put it up
Huh? No matter what business you are running you need to be like Matt. Those who aren’t will go out of business. But sure, the entire team is great guys.
One thing I learned young is to always read the owner's manual and instructions so you know what and where all the features are, where they are, and how they work. My car for example has a feature to make pulling it safe and probably far less damaging than hooking a tow rope to the wheel mounts or axle. On the front and back there are features that look like squares that are designed to pop out if you stick a knife blade or small screwdriver blade behind and under them. That reveals a large threaded bolt hole that is built into the sub-frame or frame. That bolt hole is there for the large bolt stored with the spare tire which has a shackle for a tow rope to be attached to. So all you have to do is pop the little square out screw the bolt in and you have an easy and safe place to attach a tow rope and get pulled out of whatever you are stuck in and not have to worry about it damaging the car body or drive train.
Hey Matt, on these newer Nissans you actually have to go into the menu on the info display on the gauge cluster to turn off the traction control. Hopefully you find this helpful.
I'm glad my new Nissan truck isn't like that. Had it in 4WD with traction control button pushed, powersliding in a foot of snow at about 50mph in a huge field. Insanely fun. :-)
If you are old like me you will remember that for years there was no standardization of which sides the indicator and wiper stalks should be. At last they got that sorted, now we have a whole new bunch of unknowns.
It will never happen. 3 months just for paint. Like that paint guy is juiced up and slow. Found out he is the only one around that area. Turn around is like 4 months just for a fender. Seriously does time not matter for desert people?
Golden Nugget!!! Now THIS is why I always stay til the end with you folks. Also, you guys are a real Class Act helping all the people in the sand. Great job!
That last piece with the Golden Nugget towing the Rokon is pretty subtle for what’s to come. My guess is that this Sunday the reveal video drops. Hope so. I anxiously wait every day a video drops to see if it’s the one Ed gets his Nugget.
Somehow I ended up here watching Matt's rescue videos and now I'm subscribed and probably will learn way to much about vehicle rescue. I would never have thought I would enjoy these kind of videos so much but Matt and the team are so genuine and kind it makes watching the videos really enjoyable. I appreciate that they never make people feel bad for getting stuck. Also Ed is awesome I'm glad he gets to help.
For the people that think the bodywork and paint took too long. You have no idea. That was a complete frame off restoration. It takes an extreme amount of hours to complete.
Yeah, it's the sort of stuff I'd do really badly in a long weekend. Doing it right takes way longer. That's why my end results would look more like the "before" pictures of the Nugget.
That teaser at the end, that's what EVERYONE is waiting for! Even more than the Frankenwrecker! I just hope he don't tip over from shock on ya! It'd be fun to tag along for a day or two with you guys. Keep up the excellent work.
W.M. Abel - Great name, 'Frankenwrecker' . . . . but bigger isn't always better, still THAT is what I wanna see! I like that they (Matt) fabricates a complete vehicle from miscellaneous material and parts and portions! (MorrVair) The only thing 'Vair' is the cover ! When I wuz in 'HVAC' school in Florida I asked a friend if he would go in with me on buying a property near a 'wreck-heavy' intersection for our new business, a junk-yard. He was interested but opted to remain with USPS Postal box repair & installation. Without a co-conspirator for support I did not attempt such a business. . . . . . . . I now wonder 'what if' . . . . . Take care, RH

You guys pulled us out a few Fridays ago at Sand Hollow. We were the ones in the white Chevy truck trying to help pull someone out and got stuck ourselves. 😄 Thanks again for helping us! I wish you guys would get venmo so people can pay you! ❤️
Being a mechanic, some of these newer vehicles don't have a traction control button. It is buried in the menus in the digital display. Also traction control has levels. Pressing the button once and the dash says TC OFF. It's not actually off. Press and hold the button for 10 to 20 seconds is what actually turns it off.
Great Company, Matts a true American - always willing to help wherever he can. Can't wait to see Ed's expression, hope all goes well so we can see him drive the Nugget.
Matt and his crew do such a great service to the people stuck in the sand and I know they're happy to see him especially when Ed is there! Good job and the last scene with the Nugget pulling the trailer and Rokon is a good teaser for what's to come! Can't wait and hope it's Sunday!
I smiled when I saw the title of this video (and Matt's smile) . If you've been watching Matt for any length of time you know he doesn't talk about cost, even when somebody refuses to pay, he's too good a person for that. You make those recoveries look easy, as always.
Modern vehicles are so packed with tech , it’s hard to navigate through all the different settings & modes. More stuff to break too! Give me a simple car any day. Great to see Ed out again. The teaser at the end is going to raise the excitement level up for the reveal. Can’t wait!
I'm driving a 2013 Subaru Forester with a 5-speed clutch-pedal manual transmission and an "endangered species" sticker on the back. Inside the circle of the "endangered species" is my 5-speed gear shift pattern. "Traction control" button is on the dashboard between my left thigh and the left end of the instrument cluster. No fumbling through menus.
Really respect the fact your team is willing to help people for no cost. I think some of these people deserve a huge bill to learn a lesson, but at the same time.... Good on your whole Crew and nothing but the best wishes
Sure thing that a bill would be the fair thing to do (for the team) but I think 95% of people learn their lesson either way. Hell, some people learn better by not being charged, if they charge ya it just feels like a transaction you don’t feel the same level of guilt. I was rescued once when I got a truck stuck at 17 for free, definitely never made that mistake again it’s uhh humbling or whatever.
Living in southern Utah I’ve been stuck more times at sand hollow than I’de like to admit (usually from attempting to pull other people out). In Utah we like to help each other out. Well, the last couple of times I’ve been digging myself out I’ve had random trucks approach me and offer to pull me out for $100. I politely tell them to go to hell and eventually get out on my own. Matt, you are a stud for offering to help people for free when you are passing by. Keep up the good work.
Oh the suspense 😬‼️I love how ya'll tease us at the end‼️Our excitement is about to bust😝I would love to be there just to see Ed's face and hear his joy radiate through out, and give a big thanks and hug for everyone involved in bringing happiness in dear Ed's life! You all are awesomeness‼️Thank you for showing the world there are still good people here, in these times.
But how does helping people out of kindness pay the bills and salaries? I mean Matt has a heart of gold, but still he's not running a charity organisation.
One tow job leads to several! Lots of no charges just helping out! Good work Matt and crew! We are in that zero percent humidity area most of the time too!
I'm sure y'all make enough on the paying recoveries to survive...but it's still really cool that you just plain ole help people and pull them out! Good people! That's why we all love you! ❤️
His pricing is better than you'd think, he pulled my RZR out of the snow for what I think fuel and food cost to even get up there with his rig. He's an amazing guy doing these recoveries for not much profit
Even though Matt gives most of the credit to that Yankum rope, and even though I've seen the more there pull out a lot of weight, it's still impressive to watch.
Without the rope, many of these people could probably get themselves out, but it would take a few hours of digging, getting stuff to put under the tires, etc. The elasticity of the rope lets you pull hard on a stuck vehicle without damaging it and saves a lot of time and effort...
Hey Matt! For future reference, cars like that have the TC settings in the actual user interface menus in the gauge cluster. Gotta click through the settings and find what you’re looking for. Usually manufactures have their own little letters for it too instead of just TC. Hope this helps
Most new cars these days, outside of those focused on enthusiast use, do not allow you to fully defeat traction control. Yes... Even ones with a button (physical or digital). They'll go into a less intrusive mode but won't be truly off. I'm almost positive this Nissan is in that group.
@@PeakDecline I’ve noticed ESPECIALLY if it’s a rental car it either won’t let you mess with TC at all, or the off setting is unavailable, or it just lies to you like you said. Ran in to this on a rental Camaro SS. It said TC was off, but it wouldn’t even chirp the tires.
Skeeter said that truck side was "hotter than the surface of the sun". Skeeter is an honest man and would not lie so that means that the side of that truck was somewhere above 9941 degrees Fahrenheit. This is somewhat unbelievable but it is what he said.
You’re a good man Matt, the way you treat your family, friends and employees 👍🏽 The way you treat society in general and your contributions to charities is very admirable.
Like okay, give me a minute or so, you'll be on pavement in 5 minutes. Yes, you can subscribe, but you won't make it through a video before we give you a shirt!
Cool! I love the scene at the end. The the Nugget looks good pulling the trailer and Rokon. I can't wait to see Ed's face when you give it all back to him.
As Matt mentions, how one react to humidity depends on what you're used to. I live on the Swedish east coast and if you go to the west you'll come to the coast of Norway. Both countries are long but narrow so we can't escape humidity, and that's why we get so much snow, in the northern parts 2 meters (6,5 feet in colonial measurements) is normal for one winter. In 1998 my town got 4,46 feet in 36 hours, humidity and freak winds. But if I came to Utah I'd probably spontaneously self-combust. I'd never go to Asia, Thailand for example, even if I was paid. The humidity can't be measured, there's no scale that can handle those numbers.
@@T_bone Useless knowledge; Swedish and Norwegian are pitch-accent languages, but not Finnish. Danish and Icelandic have another version. Friends of mine were in Texas, it was late and they were tired, that's when you really can hear the melodic sound. They were standing in line in a supermarket, he was talking to his girlfriend, both Swedish. The man behind them asked my friend what he was singing to her. That's why these languages are very hard to learn properly. 🙂
@@peterbockholm3176 Ha! I know I spent 6 months trying to learn Swedish on Babbel. I remember 3 phrases, I think. But I still love accents of all kinds.
Yes, I moved to California from the Great Lakes, high temps are way different in comfort. By and large, humidity changes are are what set humans off as part of a personal warning as well as a situational warning.
@@T_bone A tip for the much feared letters Å, Ä and Ö. First of all, Sweden is the only country in the world that uses all three in written form. You can find the sounds in many other languages, get help to find words that are very close and easy to adapt to English. Boat - Å, Bare - Ä, Burn - Ö. With the shear scale of youtube and entertainment value, they probably make more money from YT than from collecting fees. Some might not want help if they have to pay up. It's a win-win for everyone! Free markets work in mysterious ways. If you don't allow free market dynamics, we'd never enable/discover these things.
I did wonder if they charge people they just come across that need help. I do know they refer to some as customers so I am guessing they charge for service calls and big jobs but help people they come across in the wild for free if it isn't too big of a job.
When Paul finished his boys truck series, im assuming Michelle made 1 video going over everything that went into it, hope somebody make a comprehensive video about the Golden Nugget, with narration from all involved with behind the scenes info, I can see that being a big hit, I know I would watch it, doesnt matter how long it is, longer the better!
With the recovery & all the Rokon rebuild. Just a 30 sec blur for the body paint job (/J guys) So much effort, it's going to be cool to see Ed ride off.
OMG, I just watched the last 5 seconds three times over. So excited to see it, cannot wait for the big reveal!!! You have all worked so hard, and for so long, I have loved it from the very begining. Matt's off-road recovery you by far my friends are the greatest recovery team of all time. Not saying their isn't any more just over the time of watching you guys are the best.
Everybody that works with you guys is great but Ed, Trevor and Lizzie are my favorites. I love when Ed is riding Co pilot. We all know the weather report is going to get done correctly and Trevor is just entertaining to watch. Lizzie makes me realize that not all youth is worthless!
Man you guys should do a live video of Ed’s rides reveal, I already know I’m going to cry watching Ed’s reaction to his toys. He’s the man, the legend. The stories the guy must have…. I can’t wait to see this. I wanted to come to Utah and be part of it.

So, Paul @ FabRats has teased us; Robby @ RobbyNation has teased us; now you’ve teased us…..we’re all on the edge of our seats to see Ed’s face. He’s going to have a heart attack.
Id love to see an extended interview or chat with Ed about his life and memories, he's such a good dude. It seems he struggles with his hearing a bit and it would be really nice to hear more about the legend before it becomes too difficult for him. He really does seem like a proper good guy!!
Matt, first I found you and followed for all your adventures and I love it. Then you got a call from Paul in his work truck and told me to follow FabRats. Thank you for the tip. Love his content as well. Then you introduced me to Robby Layton and the perfect trifecta has occurred. You and your MORR family are awesome.
What a cool job. This is why I love America. There is a need for this service. There is a man that has the tools. A business is born. Good stuff and great attitudes.
I used load levelers when towing my travel trailer but took the load levelers off immediately when I started losing traction on snow and ice. Unfortunately I still got stuck on the pure ice and had to chain up. Lots of people were stuck that night.
If you know how to use the electronics then you can be okay. If everyone knew how to handle the responsibility of driving on any terrain then we wouldn't even have the electronics.
For future reference, if you can’t find the traction control button….. go under the hood to the fuse box and pull the fuse for ABS. This will kill power to the ABS pump. Great video guys !! Love your channel !
I think the wheel hop in the front axles on the Morrvair, especially in sand, contributes to parts failing. It could be fixed by adjusting the compression on the front shocks a little stiffer to keep the tires planted. I know from experience that wheel hop will wipe out the ring and pinion on a regular street car. It's usually a bigger problem with the leaf spring cars like Camaros and Novas. I just love the sound of the Morrvair under a load, its music to the ears. I can't believe that more customers like the owner of the 20,000 lbs of stuck truck and trailer are not dumbfounded by being pulled out by a Corvair Lakewood.
Thank you for the great channel. I appreciate the fact that you are so family oriented and that you so respect your friend Ed. Can’t wait for the reveal of the golden nugget!
As a fan of the channel I recently took the 2hr trip to go see Sand Hollow. That sand is much much softer than what I'm used to at Nellis Dunes and other places around Vegas! Easy to understand how so many get stuck there. Also, Main St Cafe in Hurricane was really amazing. Keep up the great work guys!
It's like snow that isn't going to freeze solid again. I think I could get a FWD through it if I didn't have to slow down which means knowing a pathway well. With snow, you hit solid eventually, what Matt does is a kinetic pop, and terra planing instead of hydroplaning. This is why he turns left and right to stay on top, uses RPM to keep forward momentum, and pray the tow s able to find a small fraction of traction.
@@charlieg1731 Nope, not too deep. Explored a little but mainly stayed near the water at the State Park as I didn't have a dune safety flag on my FJ yet (Finally got one now, I didn't realize they were required).
First time watching, love the idea about giving people a shirt...so when asked about the shirt they can tell the story, about the time they got stuck. Did something like the first guy in a jetta rental in Nevada. got stuck on the one rock on the rock. Some locals helped out, good experience...sometimes the best stories are embarrassing
Wait till you hear the golden nugget story and see the final outcome in the next few days or so once Matt quits stalling and drops the video . Hey Ed! That rope really is a life saver even on really heavy load like the trailer. Then recoveries for free is an awesome public service. I thought I saw something suspicious the last few seconds, so obviously it is wise to watch to the very end eh? Great video coverage again today.
I can’t wait to see the big recovery truck make easy work out of heavy tugging like that truck trailer combo. Great video as always. Also, quite a teaser at the end!! 👍👍👍
What a good guy you are! Not only do you help people for free, you give them a T shirt too! Heck, think I'll go get stuck so I can get a T shirt! LOL! Love Ed, he's such a sweetheart!
I mean, the tee-shirt is nice, but lets remember that this is also a business. Giving someone merch is exactly the same as giving someone a business card, but merch is more likely to be kept around.
Southern Utah is amazing. I live in Maine, quite far from Utah, but I've been through southern Utah a few times. 2 motorcycling trips out west and we made sure to hit southern Utah each time. Also amazing is that you go fifty miles and the scenery can change completely. Like any place, I'm sure the locals can get somewhat used to it and still appreciate it at the same time. --- No farms, no food. ---
You guys are awesome to watch. I have owed Jeeps my whole life and have seen some crazy stuff like this that in-experienced people don’t realize how easy it is to get stuck.
Being from Washington, driving in sand isn't my thing. So when I see that big truck and huge camper behind it, the only thing I could think was, "Who goes in there thinking they can drive that setup through the sand?" I know Matt mentioned previously that, depending on conditions, it can be hard-packed and easy to drive on, but then change given the wind's temperament and where sand gets blown. To me, that would be a giant red flag - do NOT drive that on sandy roads. But I guess if you live in Utah, that's the only options you've got.
There are any sand dunes in Utah but a lot of rocks also. But trailers in the sand are anchors, I can say that because I have driven many. The strange thing is sometimes they don't even follow the truck! They will go off to the right or left a bit which makes things tough. But I air down to around 18 psi on the truck and 20 on the trailer and don't have many traction issues.
It’s confusing because one road is actually a nice road an the next road is a sand trail, or you can be driving on a nice road and turn a corner and run into a sand trap.
@@karlschwaber9568 "But I air down to around 18 psi on the truck and 20 on the trailer and don't have many traction issues." I wonder if some of the recoveries we see here are people that just didn't air down and dug themselves deep?
Didn't answer the question. Here in Australia the tow and recovery industry is tightly regulated and operators are given a zone and time slot where they are on a roster by the police. As a rule of thumb, a typical recovery that takes an hour from call out to point off drop varies from $180 to $250. For longer recoveries there is an additional $150 an hour charge. Long distance recoveries are only affordable through an insurance claim. We did one five hours out into the outback that involved two recovery vehicles and three staff. It took 13 hours. That fee was over $3,000 plus costs. The other thing here is that the fee for non insurance recoveries is payable in advance and is adjusted with an additional charge if necessary.
Yesterday it was 98 degrees with a heat index of 102 and a humidity level of 70-80% here in SE KY. Which brought on some severe weather throughout the night. I don’t mind the heat but the humidity here will drain you in mins. But like we say around here do t like the weather wait an hour it will change. LoL. Keep the videos coming guys. I hope they have gave him at least 40 bucks for the free pull out.

But sure, the entire team is great guys.
When describing the channel, this is something that I always bring up. Great guy for sure.
viewers allow him to run his business with a lot more freedom
I think smaller cars have that.
Hey Matt, on these newer Nissans you actually have to go into the menu on the info display on the gauge cluster to turn off the traction control. Hopefully you find this helpful.
or 1 click up on the e brake can disable traction control and not engage the brake good luck
I'm glad my new Nissan truck isn't like that. Had it in 4WD with traction control button pushed, powersliding in a foot of snow at about 50mph in a huge field. Insanely fun. :-)

Being a mechanic, some of these newer vehicles don't have a traction control button. It is buried in the menus in the digital display. Also traction control has levels. Sure thing that a bill would be the fair thing to do (for the team) but I think 95% of people learn their lesson either way. Ya I agree with cooper tough love ain’t always the best

More there, less here I always say.
That voice to text doesn’t always work great, does it?
Without the rope, many of these people could probably get themselves out, but it would take a few hours of digging, getting stuff to put under the tires, etc. The elasticity of the rope lets you pull hard on a stuck vehicle without damaging it and saves a lot of time and effort...
Hey Matt! For future reference, cars like that have the TC settings in the actual user interface menus in the gauge cluster. Gotta click through the settings and find what you’re looking for. Usually manufactures have their own little letters for it too instead of just TC. Hope this helps
Yeah, it's in the owners manual and there are several videos for the Nissan Kick. Cell service may be sketchy out there.
Most new cars these days, outside of those focused on enthusiast use, do not allow you to fully defeat traction control. Yes... Even ones with a button (physical or digital). They'll go into a less intrusive mode but won't be truly off. I'm almost positive this Nissan is in that group.
@@PeakDecline would pulling the ABS fuse help?
@@PeakDecline I’ve noticed ESPECIALLY if it’s a rental car it either won’t let you mess with TC at all, or the off setting is unavailable, or it just lies to you like you said. Ran in to this on a rental Camaro SS. It said TC was off, but it wouldn’t even chirp the tires.

I read this with a Nordic accent.

Thank you thank you thank you Matt. You are bolstering my argument on older trucks and jeeps vs newer cars with all the rediculous electronics

I mean, the tee-shirt is nice, but lets remember that this is also a business. Giving someone merch is exactly the same as giving someone a business card, but merch is more likely to be kept around.
@0:34 Look at that view. I bet you are so used to it that your don’t notice it anymore. Too me, a Dutchie, it looks so amazing.
I feel bad for the first guys that just wanted to get there and got stuck. I hope they got a chance eventually
You know you enjoy the content of channel when you hit the like button before watching every video! Love all progress on the fleet! Lookin good!
Oh man it’s time for the release. It looks awesome.
Yeah I shake my head seeing most of these rigs and cars.
It’s confusing because one road is actually a nice road an the next road is a sand trail, or you can be driving on a nice road and turn a corner and run into a sand trap.

I wonder if some of the recoveries we see here are people that just didn't air down and dug themselves deep?
@@michaelm.1947 Most of the time the tires are rock hard. Matt explained that he doesn't have the people air down because of liability issues.
All it cost is your pride, and that's priceless.
Seems like a lot of places the sand is almost like dust it seems so fine it looks like silicone . Man! that's got to be tough on drive trains.
Yup, that Utah sand is nothing like beach sand, it's closer to Aussie bull dust, very fine and when it's hot it's like quicksand.
@@marvindebot3264 absolutely! When the temps reach 110 degrees F, the traction becomes horrible.
Can’t wait for the reveal of the GN, Trailer and Rokon.
