    One of the docs I used to work with has one. Despite being our head of internal medicine and him and his wife (also a doctor) making close to a million dollars a year between the two of them, he just keeps his old 2001 Diesel excursion because he loves it so much. When you can afford to buy nearly anything on the market today but keep a 20 years old SUV (and it's not because he's cheap), that's a testament to the kind of vehicle it was.

      Its crazy to think you have a family with 2 doctors making a million dollars a year between the 2 of them but then you have pro football, basketball, baseball athletes that make that look like chump change just to play sports.

      And that's just great financial sense. My old boss was a millionaire, he really didn't need to work. He held a few patents and had sold a successful company in the past. He drove 2 of the oldest cars in the company parking lot. He had an early 2000s Tundra, and an early 2000s Lexus LS. The LS he bought new when he sold his company, and he told me that while he loved the car, it was a terrible financial decision.

      Limited V-10 02.....only issues were 2 alternators, one fuel pump, rebuilt rear end

      They will do 350 chassis as well (and more). There were also aftermarket outfitters before the Excursion that would do almost exactly the same thing.

    It was just a super duty truck with a permanent topper. Great family hauler for extended hwy and camping trips. They would sell like mad if Ford brought it back with the new 6.7 powerstroke or 7.3 gas. Get hold of your buddies at 5 Star Tuning and they'll make that old V10 come to life.

      If "like mad" means a handful per year. The market for vehicles of this size and price is really small. And the extended Expedition already fills this market.

      There's not really a whole lot you can do to spruce up the old 2v motors. I looked into that quite a bit on my F-250 5.4 2v because it's definitely underpowered. A tune can make it 'more responsive' in the sense that it basically changes a few mappings, but it doesn't really give it more power. About the only thing to substantially increase power on these motors is to drop new heads/cam on it and/or forced induction.

      @@Stuka87 It didn't last because the niche was so small; basically people who towed more than an normal fullsize SUV on a half-ton chassis could pull but not so much as to make a 5th wheel advisable.

      @nlpnt plus they were like 80k brand new (with inflation). Not very many people can/could afford a vehicle that expensive, let alone the fuel bill on one of those.

    Owned one just like this. I had 4.30 gears put in it and a Banks intake and exhaust. It had no business being as fast as it was and I still got 15 mpg on the hwy. One of the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned. I sold it and bought a 6.0 excursion which I had bulletproofed and I still own. You guys shoot me message if you have questions as to how they compare.

    I had a Triton V10 in a '97 32 foot c class motorhome. I remember traveling to Yellowstone and going up the Big Horn mountains. I was leaving cars behind with ease. It was a monster engine and never failed to start and run.

      ​@@Nick_Gir Just about all of the transmissions attached to the V10s were very solid. Of the big 3, Ford was just about the only one who could build a decent automatic transmission during that era. Dodge transmissions were terrible, and GM was wise to use the Allison.

      @cablecow15 Not a mistake when you can't buy a similar SUV today. 3/4 ton chassis, solid axles front and rear, 10,000lb towing capacity, seats 8 with actual cargo room behind the 3rd row.

    Those V10's are good low power engines. An Iron Ore company I worked for in Northern Canada had them in all their f250 and 350's. They all basically never shut off and were driven hard.

    Great Video! I'm biased though, after searching for a long time I found my 2005 EX last year. One owner rust free V10 4WD w/55k original miles. Hauls the grown kids, grand kids and two dogs, Canoe and Yakima storage box on top while pulling a 25' Airstream. It's only used for long trips and can't pass a gas station but the range is about the same as my bladder. Solid rig, easy to maintain and very reliable.

    We used to use these for an emergency transport vehicle in the forestry world.
    Used to have a 6 L diesel and that thing was a beast. Pulled out the flat deck f 350 many times from the mud. Literally pulled a 12500 lb vehicle stuck in the same mud pits out of there. Seated 7 workers and 2 dogs.

      We had suburbans when I was in the forestry world. They rolled over anything. But not the best for tight roads or exploring unknown roads. Turning them around was sometimes nerve wracking.

      You got lucky. The 6.0 was... I mean dear God it was horrible. I owned one. They were so bad there was a class action lawsuit from the ambulance companies that people literally died because the ambulance is broke down so often with the 6.0. I know a friend who has a good one and seemed really like it. But it's the worst engine I've ever owned in anything. And I've owned a jeep 258. So that's saying something!

      @@MrJcjet I bet. Luckily we only used them to about 120,000km max as that many bush road km equals about twice that on regular roads wear and tear wise on the vehicle. Alot of these vehicles would then be auctioned off down in the US because they still had relatively low mileage.
      They eventually got switched to suburbans and now most companies have even phased those out.

      @@benmcintosh1234 The engine was great when it was running well. Towed great. Smooth. Powerful. The fuel system was just so problematic. I only kept mine for 10 months. It left me stranded 3 times. 2 we're injector failures and then the egr system.

      @@MrJcjet Yea, I’ve heard these stories before. But the 6.0 is still popular because the engine has been figured out by now. All the flaws are fixable. Spend a little money sorting the engine out (what I did), or just buy a new engine and you will have a much better performing truck than the 7.3.

    My wife and I own a 2000 4WD V10 Excursion, and a 2001 4WD Chevy Suburban 1500. The Ford Excursion is extremely tough, but has never gotten more than 10 mpg on the highway. The Suburban is much lighter-duty, but drives like a sports car compared to the Ford, and I’ve gotten 19 mpg on the highway with the Chevy 5.3 L V8. Bottom line: the Suburban is generally a much more practical vehicle; however, sometimes only a 3/4 ton truck with a V10 will do.

      @@wyattparker1014 its why you get a Diesel. although be aware newer diesels get poor fuel economy. my old 2005 harley davidson F250 6.0 powerstroke Diesel. lots of aftermarket Modifications gets 29 mpg highway and about 18-20 city. you can also get this combination in an excision and im sure itll be better. my new 2019 F250 platinum 6.7 powerstroke diesel gets about 18 mpg highway and about 13 city. but the catch 22 is diesels almost no matter how much weight you got the MPG stays danm near identical

    I have a 2005 Ford excursion with the 6.8L v10. She's a beast! Once you lift it and put some 35s" and up.. it was already the biggest suv ever made. Also has the largest tow of all suvs. Until 2020. Almost 15 years of having the most cabin space and towing. Love my Unicorn-monster

      I too have an 05’, Limited, V10 that I purchased in 2010. The only problem I had in the past 12 +years was the fuel pump. I have 102K miles on it, still runs the same as she did 12+ years ago.

    Looks good to me. I don't need a touch screen, 25 different driving modes or million other things that will spontaneously fail 25 miles from civilization. Good tires, torsens or lockers and some suspension improvements would make it a more capable vehicle. Fuel mileage is the big downside but I don't know where it stands relative to other built-out vehicles of this size.

      Depends. My 6.0l Excursion makes 18-20mpg on 35s on highway trips and keeps consistent 15-16mpg city.

    Fun, in the Netherlands, the total allowed weight you can drive with a normal B license is 3500 kg. 7700 lbs is almost that. So if the empty weight is 3400 kg, there is a max payload including fuel and passengers of 100 kg. So you have to register it as a bus or truck, and you need a C1 or D1 license. And you are not allowed to drive faster than 80 km/h in most EU countries.

      It should be the law in the US as well. Most people driving these can’t even park a Focus. The Excursion is technically illegal to park and drive on many US city streets. The V8 Diesel engine is junk. The V10 gets horrible mpg or should I say gpm. It doesn’t get anywhere near 10 mpg with the V10.

      @@ReformedBrant The International 7.3 V8 diesel is junk. The 6.0 and 6.4 were even worse junk. Most cities ban vehicles over 7500 GVW from parking on streets except for deliveries or construction work. The V10 got about 3 mpg and the diesel did about 5 mpg if you could get it running. These vehicles have no place in the hands of retail buyers. I’m glad Ford got rid of them. Many places, especially HOAs, do not allow work vehicles to be anywhere on the premises except for deliveries and construction. This is a good thing. Unfortunately we live in a society that thinks bigger is better. Eventually everyone will be driving Sherman Tanks if someone doesn’t put an end to the madness.

    Great review Tommy! I worked at a Ford dealership when these came out. I was in awe by its size. It was crazy big and I loved it! I have slept very comfortably in the 3rd row during a road trip in one of these too. So much room for activities!

    The Ford V10 has been around for many years in Ford RV and heavy duty chassis until it was discontinued in 2020. Many people swear by the V10, specially the ones made in later years. Excursions are highly coveted by people wanting to tow heavy travel trailers and need room for a large family in the tow vehicle.

    2000 4x4 limited v10 430 gears 292k miles now typically 12-13 mpg, better mpg with higher rpm. Make sure to go with 5w-30 instead of later approved 5w-20 to reduce oil useage. $4k in 2019 and $2k trans 2yrs later. Love it

    We have had are excursion for 9 years now ..we bought it in North Dakota because be needed some to fit all of us kids (there are 5 of us lol plus mom and dad ). And we needed the 4x4 for the snow and it’s been an amazing vehicle . We bought it with 50,000 miles and now has 230,000 miles and all we have done to it’s is change the oil and put a lift on it …also we use to travel for North Dakota to Missouri twice a year and it never let us down !! We love are excursion lol also it’s and v10

    I had a 2000 diesel excursion for years! It is my favorite vehicle I've ever had.
    I drove that thing until it literally fell apart on the freeway at over 400k miles.
    There is something great about having an easy to drive vehicle, while still being the biggest thing on the road.

    I have an 05 excursion 4x4 v10. It hauls my family of 7 and pulls my tractor like it ain't there. 174k with no issues. We love it!

    So back in the day, my dad bought a black and tan 02 Eddie Bauer, it was so sick. My mom used to parallel park it in front of school. She still says to this day that nobody could believe how good she could park it. She also used to whip donuts in the winter in it. (My mom is pretty badass if you couldn't tell). My best friend at the time, his mom also had one while each of our dads both drove F250 diesels. Safe to say i got pretty used to the back seat in one these and the old F250s. Almost picked up a 7.3 Eddie Bauer last year for a daily for a steal of deal but ended up chickening out.

    A buddy of mine has the 6.8 as well. 6" lift, it's enormous! Makes my raptor look tiny. He tows a 35' travel trailer with it. It's one of the most 'murica vehicles ever made, haha!

    We bought our 2002 limited 7.3 4x4 in 2019. It has been the best vehicle I have ever owned. Also my all time favorite truck ive owned. Its a BEAST! hauls our boat with all of our stuff to the lake all summer and makes multiple trips to south Florida every year. I'll keep this thing on the road til it falls apart.

    My family had one growing up I believe it was 2000 or 2001 model. My mom loved it, we had a charm hanging from the rear view mirror which said ‘king of the road’…
    We took it on a 3 week 4000 mile road trip once, it was amazing until we got stuck in a small Arizona village on the top of a mountain and warped the rotors trying to get down a windy road.

    The V10 is a sleeper engine! Due to the exhaust manifold design. There is a restriction in flow that can be fixed with a grinder or tubular headers. There is a 50% increase in power. Diesel power numbers, with gasoline fuel convenience!

    Every once in a while I go looking for a 7.3l Excursion but they are just out of my price range for what I would use it. I think Ford could have brought back the Excursion when they started using the F150 aluminum body on the F250 frame in 2017. In my mind they could have placed the Expedition Max on a F250 frame with a more aggressive front end styling.

    I looked for years, found a beautiful 2005 Limited diesel. Still have it, still love it like the day I bought it. I had it studded and deleted, she pulls like a freight train. She isn't that big, a co worker has a Tacoma that is an inch longer, the F150s are longer also. Best mileage I've gotten was 11.2L / 100km doing 110km/h, she's decent on the highway, not in the city. People either love it or hate it!

    This was such a funny video. I’m the mom of a 2001 Ex and I love her so much. Don’t really care about the miles per gallon. She’s my baby and turning her into a overlanding camper style vehicle has been fun because like you said they are the size of a city block or small planet with 9 acres of cargo space 😂 lmao

      That's awesome! Over the past few years, I've been thinking about how cool it would be to do an overland build on one of these. Though where I live, I'm hundreds of miles away from anything really interesting, so I think the fuel bill would kill me. If I lived out west though I would probably want one of these.

    Yes! TFL you have no idea how much I was hoping one day you'd bring on an excursion! It's been my dream vehicle since I first saw one when I was around 6 or 7 years old, and I asked my dad what that "car" was. I'm 20 years old now and finally was able to get one, and to be honest was one of the only dreams that I really wanted to say "I did it." On the day I bought my excursion, once I got it back home, and realization set in, I actually almost cried and said "I did it" I actually started to tear up because of just how much I love these things, and probably also because of being on the spectrum and emotions differ from the norm lol. You guys made me so happy today, and I cannot wait to see more!

    I got my 2000 Excursion 4x4 with the V10 a year ago. We have 5 kids and 2 dogs. Everyone is starting to outgrow the minivan. Plus we wanted something that we could load the family in, and go to the north GA mountains to hit the forest service roads. I am really loving this thing so far. It reminds me of driving my 78 Bronco. You really don't notice the size when you are driving it. One issue that I haven't figured out how to fix yet, is on the rear vent window. One of the arms is extremely loose, & the window drops a good inch when it is opened. So until I can figure out a fix for it, I won't open it.

    I was a part of a swim team for years and one family of nine had one of these things, and it was amazing. Road trips to swim meets were great, everyone had enough room so that each row did their own thing, and the ride was super comfy like an old worn-in couch. And even then it had 250k miles on it, which it lived up to 300k I think before the family bought a new Ford transit.

    Have always loved the excursion, such a unique and versatile truck. truly nothing like it to ever hit the car market. I would love to own one myself if they weren't so unattainable expensive for such an old truck. cant wait to see what yall do with at TFL. Thanks for the great video.

    we have 2021 fords at work. to disable the seatbelt minder, close the door, turn on the key but do not start it. buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt 9 times. when the seatbelt light flashes, it's been turned off.

    Love my X, have had the 6.8 and the 6.0. Pulls what I need. Carry’s everything. However she is just an F250, the press back in the day also over sentualized the size. Only thing I don’t like is the softer springs and steers like a boat.

    I learned to drive in my moms excursion. We just bought one last year. I LOVE it, it's like coming home. I would be so excited for them to bring the excursion back with the newer tech and gas mileage!

    I love these, My Grandma worked for Ford at the KTP at the time they were on sale, so we were the only ppl in the neighborhood with one when it was first introduced, great for road trips!!!

    The only full size SUV I know that wasn't powered by a V8...but something much bigger. I know the Touareg used a diesel V10 and the Audi Q7 used a diesel V12, but those were clearly midsized crossovers. The cameras don't give the size of this massive SUV justice, though. It's bigger than it looks in videos.

      And it was (I gen, with V12 engines) about 05 meter longer than X5.

    I love the Excursion. I considered getting one for my wife a few years ago, but couldn’t really justify it for our family of 3. Probably a good move considering the cost of diesel now.

    Nice!!!
    I had an 01 with the iconic 7.3L Diesel this was one of my all time favorite vehicles ever.
    A few years later I loved my 01 so much that I bought an 05, the last year of production, my 05 model unfortunately had the not so reliable 6.0L Diesel. My 01 typically got close to 20 mpg all the time. Both of mine were 4x4s.
    The 6.0L suffered reliability issues and was not near as efficient as the pre-emission 7.3L was.

    My family has had the same excursion for 20 years. It's a 2000 7.3 Limited, aptly named "Woody" for the fake wood trim inside. In the 20 years we've owned it we've only replaced the turbo and torque converter and had the tranny rebuilt. I literally grew up in it taking it all over the country. It's been both a daily driver and a vacation vehicle. After my dad died, I inherited and have driven it all over as well. It's the best vehicle we've ever had. I will die before I ever get rid of it.

    Love the excursion. But I've never understood the ITS HUGE mantra that everyone gives it. It's no larger than an extended cab short bed truck. Additionally it has the same capacities (Slightly less actually) as an f250 of the time.

      Exactly. The only thing is the Excursion had a larger fuel tank than the long bed Super Duty (44 vs 38). Not really sure why that was but they probably figured people would want the towing range.

    YAY! I still have my 2000 XLT V10 and enjoy it thoroughly. It was our family car, and yes we were 6 kids. It’s still rust free and beautiful, and takes me everywhere. I never got more than 12 mpg (HT tires at 50 psi, I only got 10.5 when it wore BFG KO2’s). Oh and gas is $5+ here in CA 😅

    The Volkswagen Touareg had a V10 option for many years. Another beast of an SUV, albeit a class or three down on size from the Excursion.

    I got a 2000 Excursion V10 4x4 December 2021 for $2,500, no rust, strong engine, and I love the truck, it's a seriously useful vehicle.

    I have a 2000 excursion v10 and I will NEVER sell it. Bought it in 2016 ford 3500 and it’s towed trailers across the country in comfort. I’m so excited for this series! Thanks TFL!!

    I always wanted an Excursion since they came out, but could never afford/justify one. Just last month I found a 2000 7.3L 4x4 in amazing mechanical condition, only Arizona owned so no rust, and I had to have it. So far I have put about 2000 miles on it, and just love it. I wouldn't want it as an every day commuter type vehicle, but for towing the camper, hauling various items, moving people, and some mild off-roading, I can't imagine a better vehicle. I have owned many Tahoes, Suburbans, Yukons, Yukon XLs in the past, and they were all great vehicles, but I simply love my Excursion even with it's AZ paint fade.

    Bought an 04 v10 in 2018 when we had our 4th child. Use it on long trips and towing our travel trailer.

    I live in Cleveland, MS, small town in the Mississippi delta and there are Excursions EVERYWHERE! The farmers LOVE these trucks because they can haul anything, anywhere, with however many people you want, for roughly 300k+ miles.

    My grandpa bought the V10 Excursion new and kept it until a couple years ago. White and gold just like that one too. Great memories road tripping across the country in it. Love these things.

    Love the Excursions, I am currently on my third one, a 2000 with the V10 just because I can’t justify the expense of the diesel. Also a 2000 7.3 bought new, lifted tuned and loved it only sold it because we bought a 5 wheel. I recently bought the current one and pretty sure I looked at that same one, went with the one I bought just because it was the limited with the 4.30s and had a few more upgrades but that was a close runner up, I did pay a little more than you all did but not to bad for all the extras I got. Congratulations and I’m looking forward to seeing what you do.

    This NOT a monster. It is simply a 3/4 ton pickup with a built in canopy and seats. And with today's standards, the driver looks up at stock F150s.
    I bought a new 2000 in 2001. I still have it.
    They didn't sell back in the day as they were attacked as a the Ford Valdez. Mom could drop a couple of sprouts at the elementary school in a F250 Super Duty without anyone barking. The same machine in different clothes comes by and the howls start.
    Big, solid, simple, safe, cheap parts, dead reliable, respect in a lane change. Prone to rust in the lower panels but we know that now and can treat it before it starts.
    I've willed mine to my son-in-law. But I've got a bunch of years left. The Ex will outlast me.

    In my search for the greatest DadUV. I've been a chevy guy my whole life so to be looking for a ford was weird already. In 2021 I came across an 00 7.3 4x4 excursion. Picked it up for 7.5k had it shipped from FL panhandle to Central FL for 500 bucks. Needed a little love but I love driving it. It has such a commanding presence by itself. Took months to find one in this price range that wasn't rotting away. Can't wait to see the series you make with it.

    I loved my excursion! But, I was only getting about 8 mpg on the highway. And when I owned it, back in 2010! Gas was almost $4 a gallon. Had to sell it, for a expedition. I remember getting alot of thumbs up, from people
    I put a 3" lift on it. And a push bar on it. It was mint. Love the light tri doors. They were not steel. I believe they were fiberglass. "No rust problems at all".

    Owned a 2004 Excursion 4x4 with the 6.0 diesel. Weighed 8,000 lbs. We replaced the center console with a center jump seat from an F250 and had a 9 passenger setup. Sold it a few years ago in top shape and 350,000 miles on it. The new owner is local and I still see it around regularly.

    Love that you guys got one of these. I got mine a 04' 6.0L Eddie Bauer with 105K back in 2019 for just under $20K and love it. Yes the XLT is a basic trim but please don't think that all Excursions are basic because of that. the Eddie Bauer is quite a bit nicer and has most of the features I love about my wife's 18' Tahoe. Can't wait to see more videos on this.

    Bought a V10 Excursion with a bent valve for $3,000! After fixing the engine and a lot of small 20-year-old-truck repairs and maintenance it has been endlessly reliable and useful to me, even at 250,000 miles. I've moved house 3 times with it, tow my travel trailer to visit family every Christmas, go off-roading and trail-riding, move appliances, pick up building supplies (you can fit 4'x8' sheets of plywood in the back!), and more. After seeing how reliable, useful and monstrous this thing is, it's no wonder people call it "King of SUV's."

    I just bought a former university fleet 5.4L '03 excursion for $2700! Going to try it out for overlanding, and some light offroading.
    Runs and drives fine, although i do have a laundry list of minor things to fix on it.

    Got mine for 8k with the 5.4 Triton, automatic, 4x4, xlt package. It is no joke. Spit out a plug and coil, first time to dealer for a weak non-fix, then watched makuloco on youtube and bought the kit and tools to do my own head work. Over 170k, did the radiator, water pump, alternator, coils, one plug, and updated the entertainment system. It carries kids and dog and junk all over Alaska's road system with few problems in terrible weather.

    I have a 2000, XLT 4x4, has 300k miles on the v10, love it. It does what ever I have asked of it and can haul just about anything, at least if you can lay it down on its side. Great for road trips, we did one with 6 people and two dogs, and all the luggage, pillows, food etc needed. Never a complaint from anyone! Cant buy anything like them any more, still look good, so even with gas going up, they are still going to bring good money.

    I have a 4.6 v8 in a 97 f150 and I looked into the spark plug problem and with the whole triton line up most of the time the spark plugs shot out because they were under torqued and you are supposed to use a high temp thread locker. I have been doing this for my motor since I had a problem of a plug coming lose and causing a miss fire I started putting the plugs in a little tighter then usual and using high temp thread locker. The one down side to this is you what the engine warm not hot in order to get them out without a ton of trouble.

    I want an excursion so badly. Not as practical as the F250 I bought instead but God I love the way they look.
    I love my V10. I wish I had the 6spd manual instead of the 4spd auto. It may not accelerate fast but it just pulls. Doesn't matter if it's flat or a steep hill. Just keeps going. Never have to run out the rpms...its completely happy dragging 8500lbs uphill at 3500rpm. I typically get 11mpg in my F250.

    my parents bought a 2000 XLT V10 4x4 in 01 as well. lots of road trips and occasional towing. currently sitting at 190k and has been my daily for the past year as my VW is in the shop. She may not be pretty but she's still running like a top and man its nice not having to worry about Tucson potholes lmao

    @TFLclassics You guys missed the cup holders that fold down in the middle seat of the second row btw, so the second row has 4 cup holders. A few other things, These don't really make power till like 3k and up. Also tow rating is like 11,000 pounds and with the excursion weighing like 8,000 pounds, it's a awesome vehicle to tow with, its not fast but will get the job done. Also your excursion has a 2005 excursion grill but has headlights from 99-04, which is interesting because people usually convert both the grill and the headlights.

    I never understood why the press complained about the Excursion, it’s size is no more obscene than the extended versions of the Suburban or Expedition. They are all roughly similar in dimensions.

    My wife drove hers for 19 years. 7.3 diesel 4x4 lifted on 35's. We loved it. Best family cruiser ever. Mileage wasn't to bad either at 17-19.

    I had been wanting to get one for years now. Finally got it Jan 2022 for 14k with 152k miles 2004 v10 4x4 basically all the same as this one other than vinyl seats. 9mpg and I REGRET NOTHING!

    My dad had the 7.3L and put a Banks Power turbo, exhaust, intake etc. on it and that thing ripped. Got it down to 6.8 seconds 0-60 which was fast for that heavy of an SUV. Loved that thing.

    It's just a 4-door F-250 with the back closed off. That's exactly why it came with the same engines as the F-250s.

    I like the old giant buttons . Going through 5 menus on a touch is impossible while driving . You can memorize the button locations and not have to take your eyes off of the road .

    In Ontario, Canada, the Excursion is considered a passenger vehicle hence no need for commercial license plates hence a heavy tow vehicle not regulated like a heavy tow vehicle.

    Love my 6.0L 04 excursion (non “bulletproof”) sitting at 255k miles … it is an Eddie Bauer edition 4x4 and it gets it. Fast for a 9k lbs suv thanks to Banks Big Hoss and tow is rated at 11k lbs…. The biggest thing on the road as well as the safest.

    My family had a green 4x4 limited v10 with fairly low mileage and it got 11mpg no matter what circumstance it was in. Towing a trailer uphill or coasting downhill it was always 11mpg. Thing was an absolute TANK though. Wish we would have kept it

    The 7.3 is the only way I would buy one of these. It doesn’t accelerate any faster than the v10 tho, despite the raw numbers. The 7.3 wasn’t a speedy engine lol.

    All the front end parts on the excursion is shared with the f250, that's how some people swap the newer 08-10 or more commonly the 11-16 front end onto excursions, because the 2000 super duty never got fully redesigned for 16 years for some reason, it was just updated here and there.

    I've had my 03 V10 Ex since 2010, even though I really don't have a need for it anymore I just cant let it go... its been the bet vehicle I've ever owned.. my Wide and kids have gone thru 5 vehicles since we got the Ex and this thing just keeps going, with virtually no problems..

    We had one of these. The V10 sounds great and moves this metal very well, but is thirsty. The 2000 Suburban we had before the Excursion rode better, but the third row of the excursion was significantly larger for me and my later-teenage siblings. Also useful for when you've got to take a large family with a large trailer to the back country.

    I have an '03 with the 6.0L Powerstroke completely bulletproofed. Awesome truck. Super fast. When I put snow tires on it, it's unstoppable in the winter.

    Had ours since new 2005 6.0 love it. Everything stock. 235000 1 oil cooler😡, 1 injector just changed serpentine belt and water pump well we were at it. Live in WI thing is so heavy we hardly use 4W. Put some new wheels on they stick out 2 ' 3 inches no lift. What a beast didn't help with the mileage but bro that powerstroke combined with the tire noise I feel like" Darth Vader " going down the highway. In the summer windows open hear that Turbo Whine 😎😷
