I must say I love it. I’m eighty next week. I have recently lost my husband of 59 years. I have been feeling a bit lost. Then I found your channel and saw all your lovely dots. I have been getting my supplies together and am going to start to make a dot a day. What fun. Think of how many dots I might be leaving my grands. Lol. But no kidding I do love your bag. Love the whole thing it speaks to my heart. Thank you so much.
I'm so sorry about your husband but I'm also so glad you are going to start a creative project! Way to GO! Keep Moving! 💜💜💜
Woman you are the bomb! You go girl! May God bless your days. Amen🧏🏻♀️🇨🇦🌼🫂🤍👍🦾
@@i_H8m0neeTok How wonderfully awesome of you! Sending bombing hugs! 💜
You sound like a teacher when you say ‘are you listening’. Love it!!
HA! I guess I am a teacher, I taught people all my life how to do various art things! Thank you! 💜
Absolutely the prettiest Rice bag I have seen on the web!!! I've been tempted to make one, but now I have something to aspire to.
Put it on the list! 💜
A huge shout out to your beautiful rice bag, and your talents!
Thanks LJ!!! 💜💜💜
K3N Has mentioned your channel so often, and then I procrastinate and then forget. Today....I am here and loving you! I love the dots!!
I’m glad you finally made it over! You will find I mention her equally as much. We are kindred spirits. 💜
It’s so interesting to watch you hand sew. I learned to sew 50 years ago and always thought of hand sewing what you do to baste until you can get a machine involved. I’m going to have to rethink how I look at handwork.
I agree! I hand sew so differently than I did 30 years ago! Thanks for watching! 💜
Once again I am blown away by your construction of the rice bag. So far I have made 6 dots and I shall be making a bag when I have enough . I am excited Jerri. by your craft /sewing work which is so unique . Thankyou for your gift of inspiration. and knowledge.
OH no, thank you for your encouraging words!!! Enjoy the dots! 💜💜💜
Oh I love it. I’m going to get on the dot a day band wagon. Fabulous tutorials 🥰!
Thank you Jeri, you are a wonderful and generous teacher! I spent my honeymoon in Cape May in 1987. We are the same age. I'm in No. VA and if you ever do an in-person class, I'd be interested in attending. You inspire me to make more, keep moving, be grateful. Happy summer!
Thank you so much! hopfully you are subscribed, join my newsletter too. 💜 You never know what life has in store. I am going to do classes in my campground this summer.
Just LOVE it Jeri. A group of us at my embroidery guild are going to make a dot project and I will be making a Japanese Rice Bag with my dots. You are a wonderful teacher and I like that you are so thorough. Totally inspirational. ❤
Oh I love that you will do a group Dot project!!! Pretend I'm there with you!! 💜💜💜
I love it Jeri... Your dots look fabulous and the muted colour palette really looks lovely... :)
Thank you Marion! We're all having a ton of fun with them! 💜💜💜
Love it, love it!! Yes I am going to make one too!!!
I just found you recently and so enjoy watching you ! I share your age and love of anything fiber related . I keep very busy between, quilting , hand stitching, weaving and spinning fiber. I can’t imagine not having those things in my life . Thank you so much for sharing !!! ❤
You are so welcome! In addition to fiber arts, I love bookmaking, collage art, mosaics, beading, assemblage art and SO much MORE! Right now I'm into stitching! 💜
The purpose of the quilting is to keep the batting in place. You have secured it in each section. I agree that it would add nothing to the outside. Lining and batting could be quilted if you thought it needed it. Love the bag.❤
Thanks, I felt it is perfectly wonderful as is, but I am trying my hand at another using a different method, they are addictive, WATCH OUT! LOL 💜💜💜
I love it. I made one using slow stitch to put my tv remote in. I keep losing my remote. Now I have my sewing stuff in it.
Ha! I LOVE these bags too! 💜
This is beautiful. I do like how you had the template to be sure everything fit perfectly. Thank you for sharing your method of assembly of the bag.❤ I do like the finished edges. This bag is wonderful definitely not a failure in any way.
Thank you so much! I'm very happy with it! 💜💜💜
Oh my gosh! Another great video! Such a great way to put the rice bag together since your squares with dots already have finished edges. Love how you added the flannel to the lining. And to top it off that twine is amazing and matches perfectly. What a beautiful bag! Since I first started out making neutral squares and dots maybe I’ll make my rice bag with those since they have the finished edges. Thank you!!!
Do try it, you will love the process! 💜💜💜
@@JeriBellini I am creating it now!!
When I made my rice bag, I made a patchwork rectangle front (equivalent to the height and 4x sides). Then I kantha quilted the front to the thin batting. (I cut the batting ½" larger than the front, then trimmed after, as it did shrink.) then I made the same sized lining piece and sewed it RS together all shut and sealed (think your little dots with a backing). I whipped stitched it into a tube (whipped side out). Then I made a square sealed bottom panel and whipped stitch to the bottom of the tube. Worked great and so easy to have each piece complete! (All hand sewn). So fun!
I love your tip to make the lining bigger then cut it back! Are you in the FB group? I'd LOVE to see it! 💜💜💜
@@JeriBellini unfortunately I avoid social media, so I am not on FB. I've only given into TH-cam in the past couple weeks, haha! Making the fabric sandwich and just whip stitching the outside and lining together was so much quicker, it will be my go-to from now on!
I love it! I just watch k3n this morning and she mentioned your site. I can't wait to try the dots. I did make a rice bag earlier. I just can't get enough of this slow stitching. You do an excellent job of presenting your process. I love how you tell viewers to stop stitching and pay attention. LOL
Ha! I know, Kathryn told me she was going to do a dot this week. I have not had a chance to watch it yet, maybe as I head off to bed. Thank you for your kind words about my videos. 💜
we are also facebook friends and it is a challenge to keep up [hahahhaa] with all of the creativity there. The name of the group invites and I see many a 'retired' 'hand' getting back to stitching because the dots are so fun and all of the dotty stuff you show keeps up the momentum of the project. The 'rabbit hole' of all your videos defies time constraints bringing new ideas thru all of them. Love them al!! You are relatable and a careful teacher which helps so much. Keep chatting! We stitch and listen, we stitch any spare moment we can grab so thanks thanks. You are a blessing. We will tune in to anything that pops into your head! :)
How very sweet you are, leaving me such an encoraging comment! Thank You! 💜
Love this bag in every way, so glad I found you going to make some dots ❤
I love the bag and all your videos. Your instructions are easy to follow and it's obvious that you love what you do - that's contagious ❤
I watch everything that you make and just admire your work and the idea behind it so much! I am only 34, but I kind of want to be like you when I "grow up" 😂❤.
Ha ha he heee... You might be the youngest one here! Do be yourself, follow your dreams and stay creative!
This is a beautiful project. I have yet to make a single dot but that’s what tomorrow is for. Thank you!
Don't rush it! 💜💜💜
I love it! Gotta get to making some squares so I can have this same design Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome! Have fun! 💜
I love everything about the rice bag. ❤
Thank you so much! 💜💜💜
A rice bag has been on my to-do list since learning sashiko . Love yours with your dots, now that is on my to-do! Love your videos and all of the inspiration. Thanks Jeri! ❤
Awesome! You are so welcome! 💜💜💜
I love your rice bag...it's one of the best I have seen!
Oh thank you! 💜💜💜
And yes! I live your dot version. I may need to make another...!
Yes you do need to make another! 💜💜💜
I absolutely LOVE this gorgeous bag, which means I am now compelled to start this as a new project. Thank you so much for your inspiration and instructions. 😊❤🪡
You are so welcome! 💜💜💜
Your Rice bag is beautiful. Yes, do love it! Best wishes from South Africa.
Hello South Africa! Thanks for being here! 💜
I’ve never been a fan of those neutral shades, but your project is making me fall in love with them!! I am fascinated with your eco-print lining fabric, which I believe you dyed yourself. I’m hoping you have a video on that as well. (Having to cut the flannel 1/8” smaller makes perfect sense because it’s about 1/16” thick… so the folded over fabric has to come “up” before it can wrap “over” towards the middle of the square. It’s just 3D arithmetic!🤓😊). Love your rice bag, thanks for the tutorial!❤
Thank for articulating it when I couldn't! I just had a brain cramp and well, everyone here is used to it by now! 💜💜💜
I think I would take a spot, place it over where the four squares meet then stitch it right thru to the lining. It would hold the lining to the outer in a decorative way. A button would also work.
I swear to you Dawn, it stays together just fine, but I love the idea of the dot over the seams!💜💜💜
Yes! I love it! And I want to make one too! PS I was stitching, and so glad you said Pay Attention!! 😀❤️
LOL, I know many people are stitching while watching! 💜💜💜
I would keep the basting stitches in the bag . The bag looks nice with the basting stitches showing. Cute rice bag.
Cool! I love that everyone has different ideas. MY way is not THE way! I'm here to inspire and encourage! 💜💜💜
Thank you so much, now I know what to do with my squares xx ❤❤
Great! 💜💜💜
Beautiful Jeri ❤ Your bag is way cool and your ecodyed fabrics are gorgeous!!! Can you teach us how to make them? I would love to learn how to make them from you! ❤
Oh my gosh, I'm glad you are asking, I'm working on getting the workshop organized and online. Thank you so much! 💜💜💜
Oh I just love your bag. The inside material is so beautiful also❤
Thank you so much! 💜💜💜
I LOVE IT TOO!
Super cute Jeri. I am putting it on my list to make once I have enough dots made. Thanks for sharing your experience!
That's Great! Thanks! 💜💜💜
Great job Jeri 👏 I'm loving your dotty rice bag 🎉❤
Thanks! 💜
The rice bag is gorgeous and your eco printing is absolutely stunning, I’m going to have a look to see if you do a video on eco printing. I’m living the dots so going to have a look at that video, you are certainly inspiring me ❤to
Yay for the DOTS, they are worldwide! 💜💜💜
Hasan love the rice bag. I do want to make one and will positive a pic. Thanks for being there always looking for new crafts to do my hand.
You are so welcome! Gald you are here! 💜
That's gorgeous. I just did some really great rust dyeing around some funky old cylinders I found. I know just what to do with it now!
Wonderful!!! 💜💜💜
H these dots have so much personality. Yes, I'm definitely going to start making them. I will never get tired of seeing your dots. ❤ Australia
I agree, they are like little beings, LOLOLOL HAhaahaheeee... 💜
Oh Jeri, what a wonderful tutorial for a very special rice bag. You made me laugh when you said, put down your stitching and watch carefully and then a little later "are you listening?". Rest assured we all were.😄 Love how you explain things.
Oh thank you! LOL 💜💜💜
Oh now that is gorgeous. You are so inspiring.
Thank you so much! 💜💜💜
Your bag is beautiful. What a lovely idea ❤
Thanks so much! 💜
Soooo beautiful!!! I love, love LOVE it💓. Now I think I have to make one too! thank you Jeri❣
Of COURSE you do!!!! LOL 💜💜💜
Love you dots! They made a beautiful rice bag!
I thought so too! I'm making another already! 💜
I just found your channel. I love this. I am going to go back and make the dot squares.
Awesome! Thank you! 💜💜💜
This turned out just beautiful! I will definitely be trying this one.
Wonderful! 💜💜💜
I love your bag. The video was very complete.
I'm glad you liked it! 💜💜💜
I used upholstery fabric as the lining & base when I made a rice bag. The upholstery fabric is heavy enough to support the bag without needing an other layer of interlining or batting
I love how everyone does their own thing and the outcome is amazing! 💜
Yes, I love it!
YAY!!! 💜💜💜
I think it is personal preference, I would of put the lining and tabs first then put the bag together.. yes i would love to make some, looks like i may have to do several as i am see my mum wanting one too. Absolutely love it ❤
I totally agree! Put it together however it makes sense to you, I'm sure it will be wonderful! Keep moving! 💜💜💜
Absolutely love it! You are inspiring me to do the dots.
I'm so glad, I hope you do! 💜 check out our FB group, everyone is sharing Dot projects in there.
I love your bag. Thank you for a great tutorial.
You are So very welcome! 💜💜💜
I rewatched this today. I don't think your bag needs batting (or quilting!). Just one idea though: if you wanted to keep the lining and the front together... you could hand stitch in the ditch between the squares now that it is all together. That would unify the front and lining. I'm off to plan another one, haha!
I did try that and felt like it was too much work and it got a little wonky.
There’s always the next bag! 😂🥰
@@JeriBellini Understood! My lining and front are not quilted and it works great. The perfect knitting project bag.
I definitely love it! I need to make dots. Thank you
You are so welcome! I'm glad you love them! 💜💜💜
I absolutely love your rice bag ❤
Thank you! 💜💜💜
PPS love it when you are 'bossy', when you said pay attention, i said 'yes ma'am' 😂
🤣 I know! When I was editing, I thought, geesh Jeri that sounds a bit over the top bossy! LOL But I know most people were laughing with me. 💜💜💜 But they did look up! 🤣
Wonderful! 🎉❤🎉❤
Thank you! 🤗 💜
Love it. Love it from Oklahoma!!❤
Awesome! Thank you! 💜💜💜
Absolutely beautiful! You’ve definitely inspired me to make one.
Go for it! It's not hard at all once you have the dots made! 💜
Love it
Thank you! 💜 💜 💜
So beautiful Jeri!!!!! 💖🍀😍
Thank you! I'll have to see if you've done more on your channel! 💜💜💜
I Love it! Have made a Japanese rice bag before and really enjoyed it! Yours look so perfect with the Dots!
Awesome! Thank you! 💜💜💜
I love it. So beautiful 👍🧡👏
Thanks so much 😊 💜
Love it! Your instructions are great. Thank you.
Thank you for saying! 💜💜💜
That is fabulous. Do you have a video to teach me how to do the eco printing? That fabric is fabulous!!
I have a course I made a few years back, it’s not live at the moment, but I’m reviewing it and thinking about posting it again. 💜
Very cute!
Thank you! 😊 💜💜💜
Love it!!❤
Thank you! 💜💜💜
Hi Jer, love your dotty rice bag. ❤ I have made them this way too, I think the extra 1/8" in the lining is because of the tiny bit you loose by whip stitching the four patches together. The only difference is that I put the wadding behind the outer pieces but I think your way provides a better structure so I will do that next time, maybe I will make a dotty one. I agree yours doesn't need quilting, especially because you have the appliqué and the seams. Wish we could get together and brainstorm rice bags, wouldn't that be fun 😊
YES!!! We need to get together!!!! 💜 SideBar: Brian and I went thrift shopping this weekend for his glass flowers, whenever we saw a piece of glass that was from France I thought of you! And I kept saying... My friend Kathryn is from France and I say it like this... Frrrraaaaaaance 🤣
@@JeriBellini I hear you saying it. Funny the different pronunciations, folk your side of the pond have got used to me saying appleequé, now some people are observing how I say hexagon, NOT hex-a-gone! 😂❤️
Oh, my gosh! This is just the most beautiful project, Jeri!! I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. You are an amazing teacher, & I was able to easily understand everything you did. Your dots are THE BEST! I adore the neutral colors & would definitely want to do one like it. I also like the method of using finished edges on the dot squares & whip stitching them together. By the way, all your stitching is amazing. I am truly inspired by this Japanese rice bag project. I've looked at a few videos on constructing them & like yours the best. Thank you so much!
That is quite the compliment! Thank you so much! Have fun with it! 💜💜💜
I would love to see a notebook cover made with the dots. Maybe the size of a composition book
Ohhh... I love this idea! 💜💜💜
Your bag looks great
Thank You! 💜
Love the colors and your technique. I was thinking that I would probably add the batting when I made the squares but I don't know. Good job.
Try it! Thank You! 💜
Glad I found you!
Me TOO! 💜💜💜 Thank you!
This is a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing. ❤
You are so welcome! 💜💜💜
Those gorgeous dots remind me of a fabulous scarf made by Sophie Digard. Although her scarfs are crocheted, i wonder how a scarf would turn out?
YES!!!! I am familiar! 💜💜💜
K3n cloth tales is amazing.. talented and creative. Your bag is gorgeous..thank you for sharing how you assembled..I am doing your dots and I would like to construct a similar bag.🩷
I love Kathryn! Have fun with your bag! 💜
You did a wonderful job with your rice bag! It's beautiful💞 And the drawstring --- well, it was meant to be! Perfect fit with your amazing dot squares! 👏🏻👏🏻🥰🥰
I know, it was time to finally use that fabric twine! 💜
