It's been said that good marketing is both 'grabby' and 'sticky'; This is absolutely both of those, and helpful to those around people at risk. I remember being raised by a shockingly at-risk parent, pre-opioid crisis, from age ~8-onward. These resources are important, for rescuers, unfortunately.
Can you imagine being high as a kite, then knocking on deaths door, and the first thing you see is him. I’d be like f@@k this I’m not doing drugs ever again!
I'm so glad you mentioned rescue breathing. Naloxone is wonderful, but rescue breathing with or without it can save someone's life. I've saved 4 out of the 5 people I had to perform it on. Nothing would've saved the one I lost, and it does haunt me. It was just too late. Thanks for psa.
No, it's a bad drug.. If someone overdoses let them go. There is no purpose in saving them. All they are gonna do is continue to use drugs. They knew what they signed up for when they did the fentanyl, heroin , or whatever the case may be. It's irresponsible to bring the junky back. #BanNarcan
high key this is awesome. Like he didnt have to do this but its awesome to see someone take time to help others and make sure everyone makes it home okay.
I lost a friend back in 2014 to a heroin overdose as well. She was only 32. 😪😭 She struggled with addiction for over a decade and just couldn't get away from her abusive boyfriend who kept giving it to her.
I FRIGGIN LOVE WES BORLAND! I did NOT think it was possible to love this man MORE. He supports NO company, but he supported yours. YOU BETTER FKN DO RIGHT BY THIS GIFT HE BESTOWED UPON YOU.
I'm an ex heroin addict, I almost killed my on and off again lover. This was in 2019, she's alive today thank God and I'm clean now. I'm glad to see these things coming around to everyone so no one has to die from an overdose and maybe just maybe when they come back they'll be ready to stop using and get off it. Good luck out there all my fellow recovering and currently active addicts, you're love, I believe in you and you can do this get clean don't give up hope.
While everything he says is really helpful, if you can't remember all that (and with people screaming as someone's dying on the floor, you probably won't) the main thing is to squirt narcan up their nose
Pretty cool to see a musician such as Wes do a collaboration like this. Drug abuse in some form or another affects just about all of us in some direct or indirect way.
Kudos to Wes for spreading awareness, I've had to do this several times for people and noone should die this way. Clean living is the way to be, thanks Wes!
I think we need to make a distinction about what actually constitutes an overdose, because all opioids make you nod out. Remember the opium dens at the turn of the century? They would all be given naloxone today. Just because someone isn’t responding doesn’t necessarily mean you need to spray them with that. If they’re breathing, & their color is good, they’re basically just “asleep”. I’m on 120mg of methadone & when someone did it to me it put me into acute withdrawal. We addicts understand the risks, if something happens, it’s on us, not the dealers… (maybe big pharma under some circumstances.
Your not wrong, esp with tranq on the US east coast. That shit really knocks you out. Ive only narcaned 1 person out of the many that most would consider unresponsive because her lips started turning blue. I don't see them telling people to wait till they see blue because they'd rather have a pissed off withdrawing addict than a dead addict.
Wes slaying guitar and OD’s. This is oddly odd and great. We have nasal and IV Narcan at my office. Better safe than sorry. Granted, coming back and seeing Wes standing over you would be life-changing. 😂🤘
You don’t need to waste time doing all those checks. If you think they’re overdosing just administer it. If they’re not overdosing it doesn’t matter it won’t hurt them.
Pretty awesome. Wes ses like a great dude he used to come shop at the shop i ran in phoenix az. I was a heroin addict for over a decade. Narcan or what he called it saved my life. Ive been clean for 13 years now but i still keep narcan with me in my guitar case in case someone overdoses at a show
@@cd3949 there’s always been opioids. A pharmaceutical company once claimed heroin wasn’t addictive. By the 2000s everyone, especially physicians, knew that opioids were addictive, and if they didn’t, it doesn’t take long to realize extended release tablets are just as addictive. I loathe corporate America just as much as the next guy, but blaming the Sacklers for turning the country into junkies is asinine.
