This was quite informative. I had no idea that all religions can overdose, especially Greek Orthadox, I always heard they could handle their drugs.
Seriously though they should teach this stuff in school. Maybe give it out. Anyone that can afford the 50 bucks should have narcan. 50 bucks every 3 years to possibly save someone is well worth it.

My shoulder has been so painful that I haven't slept in 3 days. But I think I've taken too much and I'm going to wait a few hours before I let myself fall asleep.
Can't find much information on the difference between taking a bit too much and overdosing. I think I'm ok - no blue fingertips or trouble breathing

A tip on this- those AED boxes? They are almost always wired to an emergency call center and are individually identifiable. If you need help, as a first responder or as a victim, pull the box open. Paramedics/security/authorities will come running to the open box. Where I live in Canada, Naloxone (Narcan) in nasal spray form is free at the pharmacy upon request. You don't need any special permits to obtain or use it. I carry it with me every time I leave the house.

There was a homeless person I know who was over dosing on heroin that was laced with fentanyl and I saw him fall out of a portapotty. I called 911 and was talking to him and telling him to breath and stay with me and the person who answered the 911 call took 10 minutes to send ems and I was telling them he was turning blue and started having a seizure and all they did was ask a bunch of questions that where not very relevant since he was blue and having a seizure I did not have any Narcan. When ems finally showed up they gave him Narcan an IV and an adrenaline shot. I am so glad he served but it seems like no one cares if a homeless person is having an emergency it’s so sad.

Naloxone can be obtained in many states upon request without a prescription at a pharmacy. Otherwise, ask your medical provider for a prescription, or look for community training and giveaway programs in harm reduction/ "Opioid education and naloxone distribution", or from free vending machines, or search by state here: nextdistro.org/naloxone#state-finder or find out more here: www.getnaloxonenow.org/#getnaloxone

It’s probably higher then that. Overdose can look like cardiac arrest, and the ambulances treat the patient incorrectly. Unfortunately, I learned this firsthand.

Hello I know you commented months ago but if you are unable to receive narcan for free in your local pharmacy there’s a company called NextDistro they help communities in all states you simply have to sign up and watch a video to be able to receive narcan I prefer the nasal spray as it is easiest to use but all can be helpful and help save a life. God bless and yes you may carry it with you.

In Canada, it's free at the pharmacy, you don't need a permit or anything. I carry it with me every day, it's tiny, lasts a long time, easy to use and very portable. I'd rather carry it and have a little bump in one of my pockets rather that not carry it and regret the day that I didn't. Also- learn CPR. From a medic.

No, not usually.. I’ve overdosed 4x and never realized anything happened until I was revived. Also have lots of friends who’ve overdosed and said the same. I’m clean now though! In my experience, you won’t know it’s happening at all, you will just feel high and nod off and then fall unconscious and after a while your breathing stops completely and you will die without having any idea. I don’t see how it could be painful, but I suppose it’s possible others have had that experience.
