This is an awesome video - really great to hear your thoughts on the series as a whole. I have to say, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed TYBW. I've always felt that way about the arc, that for better or worse, it's Bleach at its most ambitious. It never lets up, and I think that can be a bit much for some readers, which I understand. But for me, someone who adores Bleach for its tropes and its crazier moments, the final arc delivers that in spades, and for the most part I found it to be very satisfying on the whole, so I'm happy to see that reflected here.

Can we talk about how most of the bleach community thought that hollowfied Ichigo vs Ulquiorra was a huge asspull until you actually look at ichigos family history tree

Plus, it was literally foreshadowed back in chapter 221. White tells Ichigo "And heed this warning... If you really want to control my powers... until next we meet... make sure you... don't get killed!!!"
Ulquiorra kills Ichigo, White takes over, then Ichigo is scared to use his mask after that, and has trouble using it. His fear and hesitation held him back. And in chapter 411, White even reminds Ichigo of the warning. Tensa Zangetsu tells him that his fear of becoming a monster prevented him from Hollowfying properly.
The amount of foreshadowing is stupidly missed, Smh

His whole family weirdness explains how weird he is and I wouldn't say Deus Ex Machina since We did get hints by Aizen that Ichigo's mom probably wasn't normal otherwise he wouldn't bring it up.
Ichigo was created by the right events happening and people meeting.
Bleach has one the of the best character designs of all time. From their faces and hair to clothing, weapons and abilities
It is amazing how most of them actually wear the same uniform yet they manage to be so unique from eachother.
Also has the best characters, story, fore shadowing, build up, fights, plot twists, protagonist, antagonists, side characters of all time imo.
I feel like this isn't even a debate, Kubo as a designer is just another level when he's making these characters. They're all so ridiculously good, it's hard to dislike any design in bleach. Maybe not loving some, but hating them? I can't think of any for me at least.

Considering how Bleach is the series that got me into anime and manga, I have to say, the first minute of this has already made my day. It's always such a joy to see the series get some more recognition!

From what I understand Kubo was not thinking of having couples when he was writing it. Kubo got annoyed the studio was trying to ship him and Rukia together in filler episodes and even deleting moments Inuoe from the manga adaptation. Kubo got so annoyed he went fully out of his way to make Inoue wifey after that.

I really feel like considering it's insanely popularity, bleach is criminally overlooked. A large majority of the criticisms are either outright unfair, incredibly surface level or someone trying to say something they read on one article or one youtube video. It's always nice to see it be appreciated.

@@latima123ify I don't deny that. Bleach is pretty far from perfect, but most of the things people talk about are kind of irrelevant or invalid, and that drowns out the people with actual gripes of the show

Discovered Bleach this past year. I was hooked from start to end. I got chills, I cried, I laughed, I was elated, basically it made me feel stuff when I was feeling pretty numb during Covid.
I think Ichigo is a brilliant protagonist, he's a proper "every man" character but with this strong moral core which contributes to his unbreakable will and drive. He also has this pain that he hides behind a sort of emo persona but is actually key to why he needs to protect others.
There's so many amazing characters that are all so likable. I can't list all my faves.
However, Tatsuki is best girl and her greatest moment was suckerpunching Ichigo when he lied to her during the Visored section of Arrancar arc. I want her as my best friend.

A lot of hate comes from anime only fans. You gotta remember that watching the anime as it aired was tough. The Hueco Mundo arc isn't bad at all but the anime quality was watered down from numerous filler, padding to save on budget/preventing the anime from catching up. Ichigo vs Ulquiorra is interrupted by a filler arc like two times. Basically every big fight youre exciting for is interrupted by a random filler arc. All cos of that, they were given less money or something bc the animation in some fights really got low quality compared to what we were used to. Plus the anime really tried hinting for some reason toward a Rukia & Ichigo relationship vs the manga. All in all, the best bleach experience is genuinely reading the manga

@@codyj6505 The anime didn't stop because of low ratings. It stopped because it was VERY close to the manga. The manga was about 3 chapters ahead when the Fullbring arc ended in the anime. And you gotta think, each episode was animated weeks or months in advance. If anything, the anime was AHEAD of the manga, considering that the manga was weekly. Plus, I heard there were licensing issues.
Also, in 2019, TV Tokyo ranked its top anime franchises by ratings for its first half of the 2019 fiscal year. Bleach was ranked number 5. Pretty good for an anime that had not aired since 2012.

The fullbringer arc is so misunderstood
It makes me sad how people really write off ichigo as a protagonist because he isn’t optimistic and doesn’t have a “goal” or anything, but if anything he has great depth and is actually quite realistic and relatable. He blamed himself for the death of his mother even when he was just a child which was excusable, and felt he should’ve been strong enough to protect her. He just wants to protect the ones he cares about and that makes him a strong protagonist not a weak one

I don't think he's bad as a protagonist at all. Unfortunately I just can't find him as compelling as Luffy and Naruto.

The last arc has so much potential to be one the best arc in anime if
animated and adapted properly.
Since the ending didn't satisfy many fans ,they have a chance to polish the ending in upcoming anime.
TYBW arc gonna be huge.
An extended epilogue would solve a lot of problems. That's the part that felt the most lacking to me, the other parts were a bit iffy but I could see the anime making them work.
Yeah Kubo is working on the storyboards of the anime and all that..hoping he would fix all of the problems and add things he can't add during the final arc serialization. Shōnen Jump did him dirty

We see him use his powers but are never privy to the futures he sees, that would kill two birds with one stone without having to change the narrative at all. Imagine all the anime only people getting so hyped seeing Ichigo beat the shit out of Yhwach only to be revealed it was the future and then seeing him break Ichigos bankai to prevent it lol
Bleach is so good. It has faults,not everything is perfect but Kubo is a genius Man.
Hope,the anime gives kubo the chance to give a much better last arc than what he was forced to make instead

Keep In mind, Kubo had to deal with some physical issues especially in the layer portions of Bleach. And in the beginning he was either encouraged or ....I don't wanna say forced, to skip content he wanted to add to the beginning arcs of Bleach.
7:15 no it's not an unpopular opinion. Theres a reason why bleach was trending when TYBW anime was announced last year. This about to be the best anime arc 2022 in shonen history. Theres a ton of bleach fans waiting for it 🔥🔥🔥
First half is executed very well. But 2nd half is really a letdown. I hope that Kubo is heavily involved in the anime and makes the story is how he actually wanted do make. Specially the ending

@@WeyardWiz I feel like u guys are being biased. Aizen was not utilizes until last 2 chapters. Squad 0 was a massive disappointment. Even grimjaw hype was wasted. Ishida's dad was nowhere to be seen for sooooo long. Like this was ishida's major arc. Ichigo's new power were never properly got shown.
But I enjoyed this arc nonetheless. And I firmly believe that if Kubo was in a good health and had more time to plan this arc better, it would have been far better. But I can't deny that 2nd half had an obvious quality drop.
Also, if u were a weekly reader u might remember how Kubo had to take breaks and chapters would still look very bad. It showed that he couldn't put enough work into it due to his bad health. I feel so sad :(

Weekly it was rough. But for someone binge reading it, it's a completely different experience. I understand where you're coming from, but even kubo planned to do something with isshin and ryuken by bringing them in. Unfortunately health and other problems got in the way
@@WeyardWiz I seriously hope that Kubo makes this arc in anime how he envisioned it. Also, there was so much hype for soul king. And it was the biggest disappointment for some people. Though it kind of made sense. If he was so strong to begin with as much he was hyped, he wouldn't need protectors. But those protectors (most of them) turned out to be incompetent
Honestly I feel like Bleach is best to read in a binge and actually pay attention to the small details. Back when the manga was still going and we had to wait every week, it definitely felt a bit too short whenever we got a chapter. I don1t say it makes them bad, but I get behind why people may have felt it going stale or stuff just being deus ex machina, even though they had been forshadowed before.
With that said, I cannot help but enjoy Bleach more and more as I find out more little details. Kubo was really about "show, don't tell" which I just admire and get slightly annoyed when someone says shits like "Kubo just wanted to draw cool stuff and made a rubbish story to do so". I don't say every single thing was planned out day 1 (that's just impossible for a long-running series as Bleach) but a good chunk of the major plotpoints and reveals were definitely planned out by the end of the first arc and they got nicely forshadowed too.
Now there are valid criticism, including the ones like some characters being left behind and some plotpoints being rushed, especially during the ending, but I still cannot be mad about these, knowing Kubo's health at the time and that he specifically contributed to the Can't Fear Your Own World novels to fill in some of the gasps that got unexplained in the manga.
Just wish the slandering ended. Bleach is not perfect, but the hate it gets is ridiculous.
That Hollow Ichigo foreshadowing is the best thing and Kubo doesn't get enough credit for that one to be honest. The only thing that could match it would be any One Piece foreshadowing Oda's done.

The manga of bleach is just so insane . I can't explain it . Those who read all of the big 3 manga would most likely agree that the artwork and style in bleach just hits on another level . It like forces you to admire it for some reason 😄

@@akl-b Viciously easy to do. Here’s a couple. Ichigo being every single type of thing that exists in Bleach universe. He’s a human, a Quincy, a soul reaper, a fullbringer, a hollow. He’s boring to no end and wins every fight the same way. Aizen is one of the worst tropes in all of story writing, the villain who has omniscience and can manipulate AND predict everything flawlessly. Every single fight ends in a sudden power up. Soul society in it’s entirety is redone as the plot for Hueco Mundo. The antagonists are just as boring as Ichigo. I won’t debate that Bleach is gorgeous art wise but the story quality is effectively high school edgy fan fiction levels of bad.
@@Irrelevant66 Ichigo being every race is Perfect writing. Based on Shinto beliefs, about a human being housing 4 souls. In Ichigo's case: Human, Quincy, Shinigami, Hollow. Also goes with the theme of Balancr, that's constantly being referenced throughout the entire series.

Ichigo isn't boring either. At least for me, and for a looooot of other people. He's cool, calm, badass, drippy, he's much more of a mature character than Luffy or Naruto. Tell me any other Shonen Protagonists whose like him?

@@Irrelevant66 Ichigo is all of those things, but if you pay attention at least all of those things were hinted at and built up from the beginning, not some random ass pull like Naruto and Sasuke being effectively the reincarnations of the alien versions of Jesus and Satan. Aizen also was written and executed waaaaaay better then the black Zetsu/Kaguya reveal.

fax, and character designs(somewhat) and female cast, and imo it has the best high of the big 3 (meaning the highest it got to was better then other big 3 imo).
One Piece has the best drip. The sheer volume and variety of characters is unparalleled.

My father has only watched The entire DB series GT being his favorite, Saint Seiya, and now Bleach he told me he loved Bleach so much and how badass Ichigo's attitude was especially when he got into gang fights. I told him there's actually one more arc to go which as you all know TYBW the name alone got him very excited to see what's coming up

He has an older mindset so anime isn't something he has in his mind most of the time it's mostly series that he has connections with, I apologize for not clarifying, as of rn my father and I are now watching the new season of Baki he loves it quite a lot because it reminds him of them times when he acted as a delinquent in the older days and got in trouble with store managers, with my grandpa, and grandma.

Especially in the later arcs of the series, the fights, the way Kubo matched up the opponents, are of a very philosophical nature. I love it so much. Kubo truly is a genius.

Just out of sheer curiosity, because I haven't read bleach yet, why do you think someone would prefer bleach over naruto which I find really good overall and one piece which I consider one of the best stories in history with its characters, world, and fights?

I always assumed that Bleach was a series that usually favoured spectacle in its fights more so than actual emotional resonance, which is why I am drawn more to series that build up their fights through entire arcs. Goku vs Frieza, Luffy vs Arlong or Crocodile, Naruto vs Sasuke, etc. Also, I heard from people who don't favour bleach as much as other series that its fights are quite formulaic and end with deus ex machina power ups with no build up. Though I have long wanted to read this series, these criticisms have kept me away from it for a while. Maybe after this video, I'll finally give it a shot.

On a side note, I am almost caught up with JJK, and I think I know why I've been able to binge JJK: it just has that easy way to navigate the manga like bleach. I never used to read manga until I gave bleach 8 years ago, my favorite anime, a shot. I read like 40 chapters in one sitting of the TYBW! It was so easy yet so thrilling to read through with no annoying backgrounds like one piece/naruto manga has. It's so difficult to make out what's happening when the background is so cluttered, yet kubo makes it very simple yet very detailed and that's why I loved reading it all the way to the end.

Detailed backgrounds are actually a strength. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they are a bad thing. The crowded panels in One Piece are what makes it feel so grand. Bleach, on the other hand, doesn't need this grandure (coz it's a different type of story) so the backgrounds aren't crowded. I respect your love for Bleach but heavily disagree with the fact that crowded backgrounds are necessarily a bad thing.

@@pranavkanttripathi2971 I agree Pranav, Bleach does have some of the most beautiful background art I've ever seen but as you said sometimes the story and that ZEN type art is enough to be a great to eyes. Man one piece's art suits the manga do you what I mean like It's detailed .
I totally agree with the fact that Kubo's writing was already its own thing back in the days, and comparing that style with Oda's and Kishimoto's is pointless. Shuhei is one of my favorite characters and his growth and is extremely subtle in comparison to other battle shonen characters ! Subtlety and relatability is where Kubo shines for me

@@el7284 bleach succeeds at flashing out its characters too imo. most of the gotei 13 captains as well as most of the arrancars have their own backstory and reason to fight or their own philosophy. and it’s also some of the themes that the characters portray that i find amazing. Tosen is a great example, his character arc throughout the whole series is really well done imo. i also think Ichigo is fine a a maki character. not the most unique or introspective ever, but he’s very consistent with his goal to protect his friends and family which imo, considering he’s just a teenage boy suddenly put into the middle of a supernatural world and conflict, is perfectly fine and it fits the story. i like that he doesn’t have some overarching goal like wizard king, pirate king, hokage or some other shit

I went into this expecting an 11-minute 'Everything wrong with bleach' session, but then he started the video with "Bleach is now my favorite out of the big 3," and I had to pause the video because I was genuinely surprised. The amount of hate Bleach gets nowadays really makes me sad as a fan; I'm glad to see that at least The Masked Man liked it.

Even though one piece is now my favorite out of the big 3, bleach comes right after it. THe dope artstyle and character design, the little poetry pieces kubo puts at every begining of his manga, love it. Also something need to be said about the badass women in this manga, out of the big 3 or even other shonen manga there was never such a great variety of badass female character, as a girl it made me really happy to watch.

ya love to see the bleach praise. to me, the lost agent arc was the best arc just because it shows the human side of ichigos character, his descend into despair and centers more around the "og" cast with ichigo, orihime, sado and uryu. in the ending battle with ginjo we really see how ichigo matured and also shows how ichigo's existence influenced the entire soul society and their beliefs
I think most of the slander from bleach is from the anime. When it was still airing the filters were a lot, I just had to read the manga at that point.

In an interview Kubo said that he hates when series directly tells him narrative aspects so that’s why he makes the writing so subtle. There are so many super slight scenes early on that hints towards reveals and ties into the future. Bleach seems bad if you don’t pay attention to all the subtlety but when you realize the depth Kubo put in it’s amazing.
If you hate Bleach all right but if you say it’s bad you’re just wrong. That’s my motto in life. Okay in life is an exaggeration but you get it.
Also Soul society is the worst arc writing wise so if someone says it falls off of after the Soul society arc their opinion instantly doesn’t matter to me.

@@amuroray9115 how do i take myself seriously? Quite easily since I’ve read it over so many times and paid attention. The soul society arc is a pretty basic shonen arc with great execution that sets up the rest of the series. That is all that it is. It has some super great moments but compared to the other arcs it’s mediocre.
And while the second half of the thousand year blood war was rushed due to Kubo’s health everything in the series was leading up to the TYBW and you could see it during the beginning. The execution was phenomenal, the battles were phenomenal, the characters were phenomenal and the symbolism and themes were phenomenal.
If you truly don’t believe these things I don’t know how you can take yourself seriously.

@@amuroray9115 I for myself always thought that SS arc is overrated too. It just feels damn mediocre compared to later ones, there's much cooler moments, fights and more sword release/Bankai/resurreccion reveals later. There's even two filler arcs that I enjoyed more than SS, them being Zanpakuto Rebellion and Reigai. Lost Agent and TYBW are my personal favorites.
Bleach is the only one of the big three that I had any interest in. I'd found the story some years earlier but only recently finished watching and reading it. In terms of the Fullbring arc, I love the compact nature of the problem Ichigo faces within it. This isn't going to destroy worlds but it's destroying Ichigo's life and all he cares about at a time when he can't help anyone the way he wants to. It's so personal and heartwrenching to see him betrayed in such a way, and rewarding to see the Soul Society's willingness to help him - admittedly with their own dark reasons for doing so.

bruh, I watched 163 episodes two fcking times, because I liked the concept of shinigamis do you really think i watched that much to just hate it? if something is that boring to me that i can't even watch 2 episodes a day it means that i only like minor things about it. I only like orihime out of characters, I don't like the quality of it, I do not like the plot, It didn't even have some great moments, only one i can remember is when ichigo helped rukia, I do not like any of the fights, non of them made me excited. It's just my subjective opinion, because when it comes to art/animation there is not something called "objectively" in my opinion. I think that makes sense right? you can like it, it's a great show, I just don't like it that much. I'm gonna give it yet another chance when next arc comes out, because i want to like it. It's just my honest feelings about it.

Just to rant for a minute, Kubo’s art style is what brings this series to the next level. If you made everything identical in the manga, but switched art styles it would never be in the big 3. They way he draws eyes conveys so much emotion without saying any words is unreal. Imo Kubo’s art peaked in the Yama vs. Yhwach fight. The shading and attention to detail he put into Yamamoto is perfect. The panel of Yama’s eyes when he says “light the fire” at Chojiro’s funeral is perfect. You can tell just how much despair and pure rage he is feeling. The double page spread of “Bankai, Zanka no Tachi” will forever be my favorite manga panel ever. Some other top tier panels are Aizen saying “How long have you been under the delusion I wasn’t using Kyoka Suigetsu”, Yama saying “I am here, there is no greater security than that”, and Unohana with her hair down. My favorite art style ever!
Yea, Kubo's style puts this manga on a completely different level. His designs are so amazing, I love how he often creates characters that feel unbelievably cool and unlike anything we've ever seen in the genre. And yea Unohana letting her hair down is one of the most memorable panels and moments in any manga

I feel as Bleach’s hate mainly comes from the anime. As someone who has read and watched Bleach countless times, the anime does not compare to the manga. Other than the music, which is amazing, the anime’s quality falls off after Soul Society. I also agree with the TYBW arc being the best imo, it has the best peaks in Bleach with that much more serious setting. Great video dad

My overall experience with Bleach was not that great sometimes I took a lot of breaks while binging Bleach but overall I give it a 8/10 people slander it too much it's an amazing series. Maybe I should've read the manga instead of the anime.
What were the differences in the manga and anime for the arrancar saga? I only watched the anime and had quite a few things I was disappointed with for that arc and the one after it.

For example the fights in the arrancar arc were underwhelming, in the manga there were consistent back and forth fights while in the anime, they would swing once and retreat. They also added some garbage dialogue for some characters like Orihime. The pacing was also awful. Aside from the fillers, they stretched out some unnecessary scenes like the fights Ichigo, Chad and Uryu had once they entered Hueco Mundo, Omeada’s fight and the stretched out humour between serious battles. Not to mention the horrendous animation drop because they blew their budget on fillers. I’m doing a pretty shit job fleshing it out for you but if you read the manga, you would definitely notice the difference from the arrancar arc, so on.

Just finished 1000 year blood war and just wow… Kubo really went all out on this arc. Non-stop action chapter after chapter, the insanely creative and broken abilities that the Sternwritter’s possessed, seeing captain’s Bankai’s for the first time. Truly an amazing arc and my all time favorite.

My opinion of the 1000 year blood arc completely changed after re reading it. The character building and development is insane. It’s difficult to appreciate that kind of story telling when you’re reading a weekly manga. The story seems to move at a slow place then but now that all of it is available to read 3 or 4 chapters in one sitting its more coherent. It’s too bad kubo couldn’t get bleach to be switched to a monthly release with 30 page chapters. I’d love to read the novels too if anyone knows where to get ahold of an English translation. I’m sure the novel format works very well for Bleach’s style.

Literally just finished Vol 74 of Bleach and I loved it a lot too. Thousand Year Blood War had it's ups and downs but I had a friend of mine who swore that the last arc was abysmal. He read it as it was coming out and I had him re-read it with me and he ended up actually liking it more than he remembered and I had a lot of fun reading it along with him. Arancar saga is still my favorite in the series. But I don't think Bleach was as bad as people make it out to be.
I recently started bleach and I’m in love with the series so far, I just don’t know why ppl throw shit on this amazing series, but honestly it really have a lot of cliche things but personally I don’t care about that so much. I can say now that it’s my 2nd fav of the big three. 1st is one piece, 2nd bkeach and third naruto for me.

As a manga bleach is one the most fluid mangas i read.I read it when it was almost complete so i didn't really ever have to wait.The formula is repetitive but while your reading the pacing and artwork the culmination of everything just makes you forget and keep wanting more i think to fully understand bleach and appreciate it it's something you have to fully finish.And the characters chefs kiss.

My FAVORITE foreshadowing detail in all of Bleach is simply : "I AM ZANGETSU!!!" By Hollow Ichigo. So fucking simple, so clear as day but it went through all over our heads.

I recommend you read the Bleach novel "Can't fear your own world". It takes place after TYBW and it definitely helps in expanding the lore and fixing the plot holes of the final arc.
Fullbring arc is my favourite. Psychologically and sociologically a really great arc that defines Ichigo really well, with the perfect counter in Ginjo.

the sociology part has to do with the fullbringer's reaction to the social standard and systems that forced them as outcasts. Each of them with their own motive and sociological reasoning for it.

I love the contrast between Ulquiorra and Ichigo. How Ulquiorra represents nihilism and apathy while Ichigo is shown feel strong hope vs despair throughout his life and fights. Really made me love the series

Ichigo’s powers and heritage was foreshadowed since soul society, and you only realize it once it’s revealed. It’s subtle like that.
Ichigo's heritage was foreshadow long before that, like right after ichigo takes Kon to be fixed up by Uryu...ichigo tells kon about the Quincy symbol on the back of his head, kon wanted it gone, and ichgo said no cuz it looked exactly like his "good luck charm" which was made by his mother and if u look at his bedsheets in the manga they have the quincy symbol on them.

Bleach is not the best anime/manga, but it's my favourite.
Thats what I wud say. Bleach was the first anime/manga I read and It was my fav anime until one piece but still bleach is underated and i can't wait for the anime and the one shot. The reason I wud not put bleach over one piece is that one piece has so many amazing moments like for example zoro taking luffys pain. Another thing is the backstories r amazing. I'm so glad to see that someone else shares the same thoughts with me in regards to the ranking of arcs in the manga and all for almost the same reasons. Also, Bleach does so much justice to the side characters while also maintaining Ichigo as it's mc which is why I love the series so much.

There's literally a lot of hate going on around that it just doesn't feel good anymore to admit outwardly how much I love this series. So watching videos like this just gives me hope that the disrespect would stop and people are really gonna give this a chance.
I know that feeling too! Whenever I speak for Bleach, defending it, people are like "grow up, evolve your taste, it's utter trash after Soul Society." 🤦🏻♂️ It's come to a point where I'm like why do I even bother.

I've been binging JJK shibuya incident and imo, TYBW has waaay more stakes than shibuya so far. The arcs are goated but I feel like when I see videos like ”shibuya changes everything” like it's on some legendary status, but I have yet to feel that ...I felt that with the 1st invasion, not so much with shibuya so far. But let's see lol

I would definitely recommend reading the light novels and special chapters, it takes Bleach to even newer heights. I absolutely love the power system too it's beautiful. And I love how it's foundation is poetic as well. To grow in strength when you grow as a character is beautiful indeed.
