This adaptation was an absolute love letter to the fans, the amount of passion that the team put into it is very noticable, is not something that is seen too often so it feels very special.
works wonders that Kubo was working this closely with the production team.
Let alone for such an old and long running series. Bleach was hurt by it's obscene amounts of filler that bordered on Naruto War Arc anime levels, it helps that the TYBW is a very isolated arc and enjoyable whether you know everything or nothing about bleach.
@@BobDevV I feel like, they experimented it, without destroying the original style. I can appreciate it, it's 2023, of course it's okay to try something new, see how the fans react. I am no fan of CGI anime by any means, but I really feel like they did it well.
The only bad thing about TYBW arc was the lack of fun and fanservice in the manga, its not enought to say its a bad adaption because its definitely not. But i do like the fun of Bleach and wish it was not removed. But other than that, this adaption is everything i could have hoped for and then some. It cant believe Bleach came back this good and not a quick buck like i was scared it was going to be for Pierott.

The fact the animation was already insane and the animation team said animation for cour 2 would be even better because they didnt feel satisfied with how cour 1 came out is wild
The Yhwach vs Yamamoto fight was kinda weird to me ngl, like when Yamamoto uses Zanka No Tachi South, and when the camera goes from Yhwach to the skeletons you can see Yhwach kinda awkwardly sliding forward due to the animation, his face and hair also looked very funky a few times during the fight it was throwing me off, but then you had Yamamoto hitting the ground and when that shit disintegrated it looked crazy good but still it had its ups and downs, now the Yhwach vs Ichigo fight that came RIGHT AFTER was somehow much better which hardly makes sense but idk, they can deffinitely improve a lot of things.
i was so happy with the blueray fixes, because they genuinely like re-animated some parts of the episodes. Usually blue rays only fix minor details to sell better, but holy shit they showed a lot of love for the series. Completely changed the reitsu (however u spell it) colors, and gave my man yhwach a shave for timeline sake. The editors were really focused on lighting and shading, and it showed. The whole kenpachi fighting the blood woman or whatever became so much brighter and imo a lot easier to understand. Lots of love to that blue ray team man.

You're not wrong in thinking Byakuya should've died there. That was actually Kubo's intention as well. Since that would've made the invasion even more devastating for the Soul Society. But all the Byakuya fan girls in Japan completely raged at the death of their best boy and literally bullied Kubo into bringing him back.

"Protect the Soul Society, Ichigo Kurosaki" is like the most powerful line I heard in this. But I agree, Byakuya should've bit it there. The fact that he ended up living anyway, kinda took away some of the impact from that line.

When I was reading the manga (about 5 years ago) and saw how Byakuya was still alive, i was pissed and searched about it, then i learned that Byakuya was meant to die, but the fandom didn't accept it and were screaming on how bad Byakuya dying was, and because of all the hatred Kubo decided to let him live
Tbh I still stand by the fact that Byakuya should’ve peaced out during the 1st invasion; kinda makes me curious as to how the TYBW would’ve continued without him, especially for Rukia? 🤔

@@HollowPhntm oh I 100% agree. Kubo knew what was good for the series but his editor told him it isn't worth the threat and danger. Back in the day death threats were a real nasty thing and once someone found your address it was over, so rather than have Kubo deal with that they decided otherwise.
If he had died tho it probably would've been the exact same show and story however rukia would have to overcome her bankai on her own, maybe with ukitakes help (tho I find that it would probably demean her growth of finally reaching independence)?

if you didnt follow manga when TYBW was coming out the you wouldnt know that Kubo initially planed to kill Byakuya in that moment but after that chapter came out for at least entire week or longer Kubo consistently received death threats and other type of harassment from "angry" Byakuya fans that "forced" him to keep Byakuya alive

I think that's not what happened, imo Kubo Tite doesn't have a plan to kill Byakuya, I mean drawing a manga is not like writing a story in Wattpad or other platforms (where you can release one chapter then look at your readers reaction whether the plot is acceptable to them or not then if the readers unsatisfied with the course of the story, if you want, you can simply change the plot), mangakas usually have piling up chapters before the editors edited it and released them. If he really change the story because of the death threats then he had to redo all those drawings and dialogs and whatnot. With his health at that time, that would burdened him more. Not to mention it was said that the higher ups demanded him to quickly wrap the arc and finish the manga, if he truly redo them then it would take longer time to finish the manga

Ichigo's dad isn't just a captain, but a noble. Nobility in soul society is typically naturally gifted with talent and big d!ck energy in the form huge spiritual pressure. It calls back to the compliments Byakuya hands out while he's boxing with Ichigo way back when.
Isshin is from the Shiba clan which means Ichigo is related to Kaien (dude who looks just like Ichigo with black hair who was absorbed by the Espada killed by Rukia)
He's related to Kukaku and Ganju from when they broke into the Seireitei with the cannon.

One of the greatest, not exaggerated, non-biased reviews I've seen of TYBW.
One really cool thing that was glossed over for time was at the beginning of the arc them talking about who would replace the Yamamoto as the head of 1st division as he was getting older and with his missing arm there were risks, and Yamamoto talks about how it has to either be Kyōraku or Ukitake, as they had the potential to surpass even him since they are the only two who’s zanpakto were almost completely split into two swords, but that they were still connected to each other, and it would be someone almost impossibly strong who could have two independent swords as their zanpakuto...... and then like 30 issues later, Ichigo gets his new zanpakuto that is two completely separate blades
The byakuya fake out enraged me to no end as well my dude. it happened in the manga 10 some odd years ago and I can still feel the tilt to this very day

I feel like it’s not as bad here since we learned he survived much sooner. His “death” didn’t last as long. Not trying to defend the decision (even though it might have been made due to fan backlash and I personally don’t mind that he survived), but still.
@@julzdot you can blame the fans for that one. There was heavy complaints flooding the editor to reverse the death, and that's what forced Kubo to change it. At least, that's what I've heard.
I did feel Byakuya's death would've brought lot more impact to story, given Rukia a bittersweet development as well. As much as fans like Bleach, it should be Tite Kubo's choice of what he wants to express with his art. I personally think Byakuya's actually dead, even if he is given role on last season.

I was shocked, jaw agape, I felt something… but I’m pretty sure Scott tv is right on the fan outrage forcing his hand. I won’t spoil anything but I’d be hard pressed to find any examples of Byakuya being integral to the story from here on out… like even a tiny weeny bit

There was never any confirmation from the author but from taking an educated guess we'd be able to come to the only realistic conclusion being that his editor had been facing death threats and hate comments which is why he urged Kubo to retcon the death

Kenpachi vs yachiru was THE best fight imo
I absolutely loved that the studio completely took straight from the manga and they stuck to the same art style and it looks amazing. Idk how it didn't win anime of 2022 but it's definitely one of my favorite animes. It's crazy cuz it ranked 15th place by the time the series ended so alot of fans lost interest in the series. With tite being sick and shonen jump promising tite 50 chapters to wrap up but instead forced him to finish it with a few chapters, I thought we would never get the anime back. After 10 years of hopefully being patient, with the false advertisement of bleach coming back for a few years I'm glad it gained enough traction for the studio to pick it up. Like I'm so happy I was crying when I watched the first episode cuz of how much I missed the series and how joyed I was when it finally hit the screens again. I'm glad they are doing the anime justice. Can't wait for more.
it didnt win anime of the year for 2022 because nothing shounen ever does. Because like the film academy for movies the anime industry has biases for certain things that win those awards. its like how more people like the blockbuster fun movies but other stuff always wins awards.
In the manga alot of fans hated the fact Byakuya was alive but the decision to not kill him was due to the flood of fangirls at Kubo's neck
I agree 100 that Kenpachi vs Unohana shouldve been longer but in terms of its short fight and pacing i loved it. Ive watched that part more than any other so far cuz the music, the background, the story and the voice acting just wrap the fight like a heated blanket with arm holes sitting in a giant beanbag while also having a cup holder and table tray next to a mini fridge. It was phenomenal! The way she said bankai and playtime is over followed up by my mans excitement demon scream was perfect. I couldnt imagine it better. Fucking chills!
Kenpachi vs unohana isn't really a fight it's more development for zaraki and most of the time it's unohana one shot zaraki and heal him Just the end when she activates the Bankai it's a fight, but its better That they didn't lengthen it because it would be a waste of time to lenthen it when it does not need It would just be an useless fan service.

I'd say stick to the books then. I couldn't get enough of it. It's a fight. Fights have development. Fights have purpose.
Zaraki Vs unohana seemed like a missed opportunity to me. Unohana was such a wasted character. Unohana plus Zaraki Vs Gremmy would have been so sick
How they adapt what's coming next is going to be very interesting since that's when the controversial nature of this arc starts to show up , but considering the fact that they already exspanded on the story with the Uryu scenes and Kubo saying there will an all new fight for part 2 , I am very hopefull

Thank you! I too agree that Byakuya should have been left dead (yes, I know it was meant to be but fans cried. Much like how Gohan was suppose to take over after Cell Saga but fans cried for Goku and look where we are now.), or at the least, not seeing him "alive" in the VERY NEXT episode. It 100% kills the gravity and the pure - ness of that scene. It shows the turn and change in Buyakauya. Once, fighting against Ichigo to follow the rules of his clan and kill his own sister, to begging Ichigo to save Soul Society and his Sister.
When I heard it was being brought into anime, that was my one hope. That they'd change it back, leave him dead, or even keep it a surprise for much later in like "season" 2 or 3.

Is everyone here under 30, or something? Why am I the only one who's dissapointed with the adaptation of TYBW?
I would've much more preferred a 50 episode low budget, fleshed out version (which is, btw, what they promised us, that dialogue and fights would be added, not cut..)
But apparently anime nowadays néèd to look shiny and expensive and give up everything else for that extra lvl of animation. Just because that's what kids want. Completely ignoring that most Bleach fans are 30+ by now, and most 30+ still prefer old school shonen over this new style.

Understandable about the Byakuya part, Kubo originally was going to have him go out at this fight but during the time it was coming out weekly the backlash that came with the intention was so bad he had to revive him.

Great video, and like everyone else, i can't help but agree with the takes. It just exceeded every possible expectation. I can't imagine someone disliking what they put on screen. Especially if you put in the time (love it or hate it) to finish the original series. It felt like every person that was a part of making this was a fan, and they put that love into the project and it came out on screen.
I honestly love Kubo's approach to his work.
I believe he was pressured by people to write more/do more bleach stuff or smth else.

Ichigo doesn't have dual zanpakuto. The one in his right hand is a scabbard. The concept of ichigos zanpakuto is of a sword and a scabbard. It just so happens that the scabbard happens to be sharp.
Kubo intended to kill Byakuya off with that, but he literally got angry letters and d threats from readers. So editors advised him to bring Byakuya back

Highly disaagree with the pacing, storyboarding or animation. They promised additional scenes - what we got?
1. attack on hueco mundo ? literally one scene with yhwach jesus floating,
2. tres bestia offscreened (2nd encounter maybe a minute),
3. ichigo vs quilge literally 3 minutes with zero choreography, compare this and ichi vs grimmjow
4. Yamamoto throwing bankai sides like his life depends on it, like when he covers himself with fire, charges and you would think you'll see some interaction with this new thing but nope, immidieatly throws another side (west east whatever) for no reason.
Im not gonna even mention zaraki vs unohana, so dark i had to brigthen up to max my monitor to see something, choreography basically dont exist (again)
Did i mention 3 first points happened in one episode with 5 minute frame? yea....so much story, told in one sneeze.
It really felt like im watching a summary not an actual season.
I recommend you to read the manga, it was lit from the beginning. The original anime down played the manga so much... Only this new adaptation has part of the original quality.
Also, Ichigo being a quincy can be noted from chap 1 (he absorbs all Rukia reiatsu, quincy move), the menos grande fight (he absorbs the cero and has a implosion because cant deal with it), and when "old man zangetsu" teachs him how to stand on air.
Zang says "absorb the reiatsu in air and solidify it". But this is the quincy way to do it. Shinigamis use the reiatsu inside them to project the platform.
White Ichigo always said he was the real zangetsu, always called him "king", etc
Also, Byakuya was meant to die there, but kubo recieved so much hate and death threats on twitter (and even on his own house if im not mistaken) that he retired from social sites (he still off them until this day) and "revived" Byakuya.
Also, ichigos bed has the quincy cross on it in chapter 1 if I remember correctly either that or it was just in the anime.
Too bad Tite Kubo bowed to the pressure back when he was writing the manga for the thousand year blood war. Byakuya was likely going to be killed off in the first battle with the nazis I mean quincies. But some “fans” sent him death threats, even mailed him a bomb. And byakuya survived the encounter, that’s bullshit. Imagine how awesome this arc would’ve been if kubo wasn’t walking on egg shells. It’s his story his characters he can do whatever he wants.

so old man yama`s shiki release *for en* is all things in the universe turn ashes ryujin jaka and well the bankai proves that the release command isnt metaphorical
the reason byakuya wasn't killed off was because kubo received thousands of death threats for it. he had planned to kill off byakuya originally, but the fans' outrage went too far so he had to not kill byakuya
if it were me, i'd have had him return to the fight and save ichigo and die definitively against yhwach. If i was a writer nobody would threaten me into changing my story
I don't think they should have even wasted money and time on TYBW. We finally get to see Itchigo at his full power dual wielding and in 24 episodes we see him what 10 mintures? A disgrace than in the end of S2 instead of Ichigo battling he runs back to the palace. Why would the palace guards need his help at all and if so they could have sent for him after he did some cool battles. On top of that how will the humans he's with be able to stand let alone fight up in the palace?

Bro Byakuya made me cry when he lost his bankai. All he could do was stand there and accept it. Took all his pedals with gusto. He grew up with that sword. Literal tears. Like at least Toshiro bankai does the same thing as his bankai on a somewhat smaller scale. Whereas Byakuya goes from 1000 pedals to millions. His shikai can’t do a thing to his bankai.

16:46 they kept byakuya alive because originally kubo had killed him off but Japanese fangirls were upset and sent kubo hate letters and date threats so he re wrote the thing
zaraki was stronger than unohana back when they first met. And since she's the strongest one around, if he let his power grow he would have to endure lame battles because he would just win easily. And so he limits his power so he can enjoy battle, his eyepatch is an indication of this. And unohana felt sorry for this. She felt the same too, so her method is learning to heal so they ca fight longer
No manga reader would ever bash orihime, unlike a common comparision ie sakura orihime never trained for this mess and was always peaceful (huecoundo arc where she was abused, childhood, acid razer etc)
Orihime has great character development
Explaining Byakuya, there is three possible things that happened with only one being confirmed. 1. Kubo received a lot of spam and harassment to the point he closed his twitter account when the manga chapter dropped online and it was HATED lmaaaooo, those fans were upset. This leads to two conclusions. 1. The spam caused him to just reverse the decision and 2. His editor changed it for him but neither have been really confirmed.

15:15 kubo wanted to kill him but when that chapter was dropped he got forced by fan's and his editor and shonen-jump to bring him back somehow and he had no choice but it's worked out since without him we wouldn't have gotten the rukia and his iconic moment.

the anime was way better than I had hoped. one always prepares oneself for disappointment, but this was great. I could watch that scene with Yamamoto instantly burning that guy to ashes an infinite amount of times. Episode 6 with all the forms of Yamamoto's Bankai was insane, and as always, spectacular music. props to the clone tho. I don't remember the manga that well, but apparently Yhwach's clone that Yamamoto faced copied his memories, while the other clone copied people's abilities. So this clone copied Yhwach's memories but faced Yamamoto using his own level of power, and somehow managed to convincingly survive with his own power. No wonder then that Yamamoto realized he was outclassed when facing the real Yhwach's level of power. It is also cool that Ichigo's fight with Yhwach looks totally different than the Yamamoto fight. He's essentially fighting the same opponent, but they managed to make the fight look and feel completely different.
That Masaki scene had me like "yeah I see why you got wife'd up."
If that was me, and I saw you do some bad ass shit like that, we fuckin in the street, injuries be damned.
But fr though, this season was insane. I hope they don't fuck it up because this is the best anime has looked in a long time
The "killing" of byakuya was actually meant to be his death but the fan backlash and the insane amount of hate and death threats that Kubo was receiving, he was pressured into keeping byakuya alive. I'm guessing they didn't change this in the anime since he's already changed the story to have him play an important role ltr on
I love how NOW they are questioning whether it was good for ichigo to be a quincy. Meanwhile in the first episode of the anime and the first volume of the manga he had a QUINCY CROSS on his bed lol. It's all part of kubo's plan.

As someone who randomly started this show a few months ago without any knowledge of this new season, or the show in general, shit started to drag a ton towards the end. It was repetitive and exhausting and I thought it was over after 366, but thanks to a Hulu rec, I saw this.
This season COMPLETELY blew me away. They’re almost 2 different shows. I was gripped, emotional and in awe of the writing and animation. Now that I’m keyed in on the perception of this show over the years, it’s good to see everyone seems on the same page.
Did the show justice, considering bleach was made like 10 years ago the pacing was definitely bad. This new arc is going to be very enjoyable until the near end. No spoilers but plenty people agree the ending is rushed and pretty aggravating, due to the writer having health issues and the producers forcing him to hurry up and finish the manga.
the emotion of old bleach is definitely still there and was one of the main factors i loved it, the only issues old bleach had was being slow paced
Yea I just skipped the fillers episodes which was good amount like the bount arcs that’s like almost 50 epsiodes or more.
The Unohana and Kempachi fight CANT be LONGEr.
let me explain. The show whants u to feel exactly like kempachi, he wants to fight over and over, forever, he loves fighting someone strong, and at the end he feels not satifyed yet, just like who is watching, u want to see them fight over and over. I guess they made that way to empathize with the characters, feeling the same way they feel

Nobody wants a slow arc. It's fast to show the pure destruction and fast pace of how a war should actually go, a war with the son of the strongest guy in the bleach universe
This is literally the only arc they didn't rush at all, lol. Read the manga again. The first invasion was always this fast-paced.
And i don't even understand what your problem is because the first part of the tybw Arc never had any problems in the first place and was never rushed by Kubo at all.
Everything else, what's coming, needs new added scenes and more elaborated, especially the last part of the arc, but the first invasion never had any issues or needed to be extended.

I am so with you on hating byakuya surviving. Theres been a rumor for a while that kubo always intended to kill him but didn't due to fans sending hate mail and death threats. It steams from how little he features after this point in the manga. How when he does appear its actually better if you think of him as a particular characters memories of him(trying not to spoil) rather than him actually being there. Its never been confirmed but it makes alot of sense given how perfect a death for him this is

The thing with Byakuya is that in the manga when the chapter came out and he supposedly died. He got the levi treatment all the fan girls and boys rioted and sent death threats to the author so he saved him
The only problem i had was that the fights were way too short tbh. I wish we had more episodes of the fights and especially more explanation of Unohanas bankai, and in general to add more stuff that wasn't in the manga that could help fish out the story more. But apart from that it was really a great season
They would have to make it split into 10 parts if they wanna properly include all the events of the tybw arc. I agree tho, the fights were too short. Season 2 and 3 will make up for it
I really wouldn't mind waiting a week longer if it meant longer fights and better explanations

Byakuya was actually supposed to die, but Kubo got so many death threats and some people were throwing rocks at his house windows (at the time those manga chapters were coming out), so my man bassically had no choice but to bring back Byakuya since he is the number one most loved character in bleach in Japan (the only reason bleach got an adaptation of this new tybw arc is because bleach is really popular in Japan).
it's just people didn't want Byakuya being dead. From WHAT I'VE HEARD, people sent death threats to Kubo saying that he NEEDS to bring back Byakuya. Not sure of how much it's true or not. But, I wouldn't be surprised at this point

Only saw the intro at this point, gotta make a comment. I did the exact same thing. 10 years ago, I tried reading the TYBW arc in manga, but I stopped, actually soon after what's to come in the next couple episodes. I stopped because I heard a rumour back then that they were gonna animate it, so I put it down and patiently waited 10 whole years for it to come lmao.
