In today's tutorial, I demonstrate how to clip out a couple from an image and drop them into another scene using Pixelmator Pro, and then I do the same thing in Photoshop so you can see and compare the two apps.

I discovered Pixelmator Pro 6 months ago, and I love it for general purpose editing. Pixelmator Pro is Mac only and is tightly integrated with the operating system to keep its footprint smaller. The Pixelmator extension works extremely well in Apple Photos.
Thanks Anthony. You astound me with your knowledge and how you remember all the shortcuts keys for so many programs. I am a Lightroom Cloud user + I also use Pixelmator Pro as I find Photoshop to cumbersome a program to use when I only need to use it spasmodically. I really like Pixelmator Pro and find it a lot easier and more fun to learn and it is also very good value at a one off cost of $35 AUD when they had the half price offer. I will definitely be watching your future Pixelmator tutorials and if I can think of anything specific that I would like you to cover I will let you know. Has anybody ever told you your voice sounds like Paul Stanley from KISS. Must be the New York accent. Cheers from Sydney Australia

Pixelmator took out part of the woman’s cheek, where the bright light is falling. Does Pixelmator allow a way to correct mistakes if the automatic background remover erases parts of the subject?
I bet Adobe is hearing you loud and clear Anthony about a competitor's photo background removal feature being easier and as effective as Photoshop's. Can't let that stand! I bet Adobe is now hard at work on that if not already.
Great vid. Looks like photoshop was able to get more of the woman’s hair strands when cutting the subject out but I would agree the overall process is easier in pixelmator pro.
Anthony very good timing. I have had pixelmator for some time but hardly used it but looking at more composting use with it recently. Yes mac only but compare the price with other editing programs a bargain. I would appreciate other videos on it
I tried the remove background feature on an image and it took too much out. Is there a way to refine the image?
As a Photoshop user for the last 30 years, I'm now using Pixelmator 75% of the time. I'm not using it 100% because I'm more familiar with the tools and some of the menus in Photoshop.
The Photoshop method might be more complicated but the result is not garbage. Look at her head, around the glasses ! And this is a TH-cam video. Looking at a screen, the difference is much more apparent.
Did try Neural Filters Harmonization to match the two images?
This looks a lot more intuitive and modern than Photoshop. Adobe have me cornered with their integration of Ps, Ae, Pr and Ai which I use for my workflow but if I just needed a standalone photo editor then this looks very compelling.
Photoshop has so much more to offer.
Objects need often shadows.
I enjoyed and appreciated this - but no - I'm not getting yet another editing program. Still upset over Capture One issues.
Do you find the background removal better in Pixelmator Pro or Luminar Neo?

You would think some of this would migrate to Light Room. I'm stuck with photoshop because of their policies but I seldom use it because it doesn't differentiate well with LRC. So how about you doing a comparison of LR and Pixel on some of the more common tasks that aren't available in LRC? Pixel is so cheap compared to PS.

How about a video about using LRC with Pixelmator.
I also found the resolution increasing in Pixelmator Pro better in my opinion.
There are several options in Ps that I'm sure you know better than me. Like curve may be not easy for beginners or color match(I'm not sure of the English name) or other colours change features. What I see is that the selection is not soo good in PS as in the other software and that's not nice .
Educational video, Anthony. I think it shows how Adobe is starting to fall behind it's competitors a bit. Adobe has some work to do. We'll see what they come out with at Adobe Max this year. They need to do a better job at keeping up with the industry or some of us will start leaving. ON1 has a really tempting product. I don't think Luminar will ever catch up. Pixelmator looks interesting, but being Mac only means it is of no use to me. Capture One is too expensive, even for a Fuji shooter like me. And, I have no desire to multiple editing programs. Are you hearing this Adobe? Your reputation is on the line here.
Instead of creating a stamped layer, you could have tried "match colors"...might not have worked, but generally does.
In preparation for the video, I tried Match Colors and it didn't work well on this set of images but you're correct, normally it can work well.
I noticed that you provided Windows equivalent keyboard commands. Unfortunately Pixelmator Pro is not available for Windows. It is Mac only.
I'm a numbskull! Out of habit I say "Command-Control", "Alt-Option". I shall try to be better!
I use Pixelmator on the iPad. Not sure if it has this capability though.
