- Pixelmator just released an update for Pixelmator Pro 3.3.3 which allows Pixelmator Pro to open a Photomator document. In this video. In this video we explain how to edit RAW by using not one but two apps Photomator for Mac and Pixelmator Pro to harness the capabilities of each. Personally been a big fan of the improved workflow with the addition of Photomator for Mac. Love your coverage on it, definitely feel like this can be a great combo for a lot of hobbyists and enthusiasts.
Yes I think this is a platform for the future. Aside from Adobe their AI technology is the best.
Much needed tutorial. Thank you 🙏
Glad its helpful. Thanks for watching!
I'm a year late to comment, this is an excellent video. I do think the integration of both products could be better, like the affinity publisher and affinity photo. So if the desire is also to combine photos, I assume pixelmator pro should be used as the last step to achieve that, since some of the layers created for that and the masking would not be recognized by photomator.
You are not really late. Nothing much has changed since the video last year. I may be wrong but I think some Pixelmator layers might be carried over to Photomator since the last Pixelmator update.😊 But yes I think as a last step makes most sense.
I did the one time photomator purchase for Mac and immediately broke the library- had to figure out how to delete the plist- the ai might be better than pixelmator but I think pixelmator pro has more selection capabilities.
Yes pixelmator has the selection brush with edge detection. However it doesn't have the AI mask operator combinations.😊
Great tutorial. I'm glad I found your channel and subscribed. One question: in the last few seconds of your video, after you return to Photomator, why is there a dark grey box in the middle of the Merlion?
That's just some temporary artifact as you scroll on the image. It actually disappears when you pan on the image.
Thanks for the tips. I still think that there is no need for two apps. Pixelmator could have added the new features in PMP and eliminated the need for this type of workflow. Why they chose to make two apps remains unpersuasive. They say one is for designers and the other for photographers. Yet before they released Photomator, PMP was fine for photography and was promoted as such.
I do agree Photomator was created to add a revenue stream through a subscription model. They could have added the same features to Pixelmator. In the future though Pixelmator is planning to differentiate Photomator with more photo management capabilities. That would make more sense. You can look at their product roadmap here: www.pixelmator.com/photomator/roadmap/
@@takebetterphotos8132 I have seen the roadmap and like the features. There is still not reason for a separate app other than to generate cash. This is OK, I did buy it but I would have paid for a new version of PMP had it contained the new features.
Gr8 job!👍
Thanks! 😎
I hate that companies have the same tools in two different apps, but one performs better than the other... so... you have to use both. Can't we just have ONE app, and just charge us more. Adobe is guilty of this as well.
Yes its a common issue in technology companies to create a new app as an additional revenue stream. However the new app divides attention of the developers and the company doesn't have the resources to do both well. In retrospect it would have been better to just stick with one app.
