Just to be clear, a WR in the mile by 4.68 seconds. Why dont she go and break the 800 WR while she's at it? I mean........this is unsane running!! For me it has to be the greatest track performance ever. It's equivalent to breaking the 100m WR by 4.68/16.09 = 0.291 seconds..........(or 100/10.49 * 0.291 = 2.77 metres!). And who's ever done that - or will ever do that!? Extraordinary.

Top to bottom, that was easily the greatest women's mile run of all time. All but one finished with a PB, plus the WR and several ARs and NRs.

In my opinion defenetly the second best Mile race on male or female side ever. Only falling short of the insane battle of Noah Ngeny and Hicham El Guerrouj where both athletes ran under the previous WR
The El Guerrouj race was epic - I can only think of the Warholm Tokyo WR record race (3 under WR) and the recent Girma/Katir WR race, where 2+ went under the previous WR.
Maybe the race where Sydney McAutowin AND Dalilah Mo went under the previous WR also.
On the tech side, there was the 1991 long jump final ofc and the 1986 hammer throw final where the WR was also broken twice+.

It is absurd how quick the race was, 8 women running sub 4:17 is crazy considering there were only 9 women under 4:17 ever previously. Also the list was wrong, Hailu also ran a PB so every athlete in the field ran a PB, and most of them were under the previous NR/AR of their country/continent

My gosh I have been into track since I was a kid watching the 72 Olympics and this is one of the best seasons I’ve ever seen an athlete throw down and she is not done yet!! The only thing missing is a rival trading WRs like Coe vs Ovett! FK is in a class by herself! The rate of improvement is insane! I might get to see a woman break 4min in the mile in my lifetime!! 1500 WR, 5000 WR, now the mile??? FK is a once in multigenerational phenom !! And she took time to have a baby and now back to breaking WRs?? Golden ERA baby!! I’ve never seen anything like this from HS runners to the PROs wow!!

She went through in 2:04? She can probably run 1:55-1:57 if she trained for it. She has Aouita / Morceli type range where she can be competitive from 800m - 5000m.
She already has 1.57.68, so in this form, maybe could be under 1.56 for sure, would be nice a race against Mu and Hodgkinson.

Greatest WOMEN's Mile Race. Why, because her time would only be #14 amongst US High School boys in 2023. Around 2,000 men and 20 US High School boys have run sub-4 in the mile.

@@RonquixoteDIII tbh i dont think its possible. A 4 minute mile is still elite even by male standards. Faith is testing the limits of female capabilities yet the 1500 (which is ran a lot more frequently) record is around 3:49 ,fairly outside 4 min pace. Theres a lot of progress before thats happening.
That time should be understood in the proper context. It took Roger Bannister to break the 4-minute mile for men. Yes of course that's more than 60 years ago but it was very hard back then. Men are much faster than women and yet Kipyegon is only around 8 seconds behind Bannister's time. That's pretty special.
Sometimes weird that you spend 3 minutes on a massive world record or 8 minutes on some hypothetical of an American university athlete or whatever.. still love the content. Just skip what’s not for me!:-)
She will even break the 10,000m world record in the upcoming world championships at Budapest.
She will be running just the 5k and 1500m in the world champs..

There are two more records I want to see her go after this year : the women's 1000m record, which she tried but failed to break a few years back, and that infamous 3000m record - 8:06.82 by Wang Junxia.
I think this 8.06 is even out of reach for Kipyegon. The 2nd all time out side of chinese is more than 10 secs away. It´s 2.42 per Km, i think we will see before falling Komen 3k record than this, but i´d love she will try, will be interesting what time can he get.. 8.10, 8.12...???
