This is good info. I got my first oscar and had NO clue what I was doing and shoved that poor fish into a 10 gallon tank. No worries, when he outgrew it I moved him into a 75! This was before Google, cut me some slack.
I have my 10” Oscar with a Sevrum and also a belly crawling pike. After the first week chasing them around he chilled out and they get along great now.
I absolutely love my Oscar! She has so much personality and character. She will eat for my hand. I got her when she was about an inch long and in her first year she grew to be over 10 inches. She’s now over a foot at about a year and a half‘s worth of growth
Great Vid as Always! My Oscar Koda has grown & he has been jumping up and hitting the glass lid , so im having to make a custom acrylic lid now, with feeding doors to make it easier to feed him instead of lifting the entire lid 👍
My all time favorite fish, especially the albino tiger oscar. I use to have an albino tiger oscar, pike cichlid, convict cichlid, tilapia butterkofri and a red blood parrot cichlid together. Definitely would like to do a set up like that again.
Another great video, you guys deserve some more attention from the fishtube community. I have a question about your 180, Troy. How did you go about stocking that tank with those cichlids in order to keep them so chill with each other? Did you put certain fish in before others? Or at different sizes? Or something else? You've inspired me to do something similar when I settle down at my own place in the future.
Thank you - really appreciate that! Most of the geos, severums and acaras are relatively peaceful, and I also grew them up together over the past two years. I added the Oscar recently as a little guy so that the others had a head start. The Oscar will soon be the biggest in the tank though!
I've got a couple of oscars in a 75 gallon and they get along just fine with my angels. As a matter of fact, one of my angel's likes to bully the oscars sometimes.
I have two aqua clear 110 2 sponge filters a fx6 on a 75 gallon tank with one Oscar fish group of silver dollars and problems with hole in the head think I got over filtration causing stress on fish
Well, thanks to you, I now own a 75-gallon with two EBA (both females and one is still very small), six Panda Cory's, three YoYo loaches, and one green peppered cory, lol. Could I get away with one oscar in a couple of years or not at all with all other peaceful fish? It's a moderately planted tank too.
Hello, my Oscar just layed some eggs and I’m not sure what to do. I have 2 Oscar’s and 2 parrot fish. I want to believe the Oscar layed the eggs because they have been guarding it
I had Twin Oscars and sadly one of them passed away and I did not think a Fish could get so depressed in my entire life. To this day he is still struggling and not the Fish he once was. His whole mannerism is different and I think he feels lonely in his 150 Gallon even with the Red-Eared Slider and Red Tailed Shark whom he barely interacts with anymore like he used to with his brother. I recently got another Oscar and put in a grow out Tank and hopefully that cheers him up when I eventually introduce him.
@michaelberardo4614 Sadly he died of depression. He wouldn't eat, sleep or do anything besides lay at the bottom of the tank and 4 months ago he just died. The other fish are OK though thankfully.
@@JackofallWades aw damn man sorry. I just got a new Oscar. He’s still quite depressed but I hope he can get through it. He’s been digging which is a sign of him acclimating. But I’m glad your other one is doing ok.

Hi !! Green terrors and Oscars are AWESOME fish !! I did have that combo aswell and they were my favorite. I would suggest keeping the green terror alone for now in the 55 gallon as it will grow fast and be crammed into the 55 on its own let alone putting in an oscar. If you could upgrade to a 75 gallon in like 6 months you could pull it off. But keeping those 2 in a 55 gallon for a year is a no no :) Hope this helps :)
Man 🙄 I should've done my research before buying my Oscars I bought 2. And I have a 55 gallon tank but I fell in love with them but I got them small though so how much time do I have to save for a bigger tank? I know you said they grow large in about a month but is it ok to stay in a 55 for like 2 months ?
Would love to see another update on this guy soon. I want to get an Oscar for the 210g I’m working on (small for the same reasons you mentioned) I’m still on the fence as I have some smaller clown loaches still. Some fish will eat smaller fish cuz it fits, and others will, unless they’re full or get tired of chasing. Would be interesting to know where the Oscar lies with this. In my experience, I have a venustus that will eat no matter how full he gets so he would chase a small fish till it was in his belly. However my green terror/severums give up after awhile. (2 different tanks btw 😊)
