Those 505's were a love/hate relationship amongst owners where they first came out. I know some guys who won't even think about ever going back to KTM after some of the mud they got dragged through by them back in the day. I know things have changed drastically
I had the 450 version of that 505. Fun to ride but the engine was a nightmare. The con rod bearing went out at 64 hours. Knowing what I know now I would have been money ahead to part it out or light it on fire and push it off a cliff at that point.
New piston rings, grind the valve shims down to paper thin. Copper spray the headgasket. For sale, Fresh rebuild only started it once. 😂 DIY or maybe die ? 😮
How often should i service my suspension? Rear shock was rebuilt like 5 hours ago because it blew but front shocks havent been serviced in at least 90 hours. Im just riding trails and now on ice too because its winter. Bike is 2021 ktm 125 sx and it has 120 hours total.
Question. When you fill the inner cartridge you reference the “ledge” and that part of the process seems “rough” isnt this an exact measurement? Or does the excess bleed off? If it does bleed off doesnt it bleed off into the main chamber (outer) and change the 340cc volume?? Suspension newb here. Just curious.
There is a measurement but it’s too much on purpose. It bleeds off. That’s why I tip the cartridge to get that out before installing into the outer tubes.
Crank bearings should be fine on a big thumper , but a big worry on a 2stroke ingesting dirt into the cases. , I'm guessing Morgan checked the rod bearing for play.

hi Morgon Love your channel. Can you use the 24 spring forks on the sx bike ?
Yes

Every 50 ish hours
What extra tools do you need for the new forks? Anything special?
Nope.

Doesn’t the 24 XC call for 385-395cc for fork ?
@@neizpiez yes but we run less. It makes them more plush. It still hold up well.
@@highlandcycles thanks! I’ll have to try it next service
Can you post the part # for that tool ( leakdown tester)
Oh man. That’s a snapon tool
What do you use the orange sealant on?
Orange sealant??
@@highlandcycles on your bench off to the left barely in frame.
@@brycedavis907 oh, the tire stuff. That’s for my bicycles and tubliss junk
Do you use it I’m Moto’s? I recognized it because I started using in my pedal bike.
@@brycedavis907 just the Tubliss system in moto
I'd be worried about the crank bearings, Seems how develops are worn that bad, I bet That somebody just popped a piston in it.

Happy New Year to Highland Cycles, here's to many more. Hope grumpy Jeff has a happy new year too 😀
