  • Did a Coleman cc100x minibike top speed run to see if the governor throttle assembly removal would improve the top speed? Bypassed the governor throttle linkage.

    I have a 1969 mini chopper mini bike that my dad gave me, I have got a predator 212 and a new sprocket and it has got me up to 65mph. I would suggest you to get a mikcuni carburetor it will make it faster and get rid of all the struggles with the throttle linkages.

    • @Black66
      @Black66  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right! I'm running a Mikuni carburetor on my Predator. It works really good.
      The Coleman bike in this video has a 3 H.P engine that might be too small for a VM22 Mikuni carb. But I think you could put a VM16 on there or something like that. The ultimate way to get this bike up to speed would be to do an engine swap to a Predator 212.

    I have heard alot of guys talk about how removing the governor completely would cause the valves to float unless you put heavier valve springs in. I have a CT200U-EX, so they recommend 18lb springs. Did you replace any internal parts or have you experienced valve float at the high rpms?

    • @Black66
      @Black66  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is true for a lot of different engines. I have gained 8 MPH with my MB200 just by replacing springs.
      But so far I haven't touched the internals of the Coleman bike. It must have pretty decent springs. Check out this video. I get it up to almost 50 th-cam.com/video/1sBC0idluGs/w-d-xo.html

    40 mph oh that little engine? What size is it? I have the predator 212cc and I've heard you can't push it past 40 with out replacing the internal components or you could bend a rod.
    I pulled my governor all the way out and welded the hole shut. Idk if I messed it up or if it was broke when I got it but it was causing me problems right from the start so I yanked it out and tossed it in the trash.

    • @Black66
      @Black66  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can generally pull the governor off without any problems. Maybe you had a bad one from the start.
      You are right. If you really start pushing these engines really hard it is probably a good idea to get billet internal parts, like a billet rod and flywheel.
