    Would settings change based off of the tumbler you are using?

    Good morning guys. That tumbler came out great. Just a heads up. I listen on head phones and your music gets a little loud. Just saying. 👍🏻

    Thank you for this video! Question: my laser head will not rise above the tumbler. Just keeps hitting it. Was there an offset setting you entered that you didn’t put into this video?

    how did you focus the laser on the tumbler?

  • @freebird1963

    Don't you answer questions ? Some seem important to the operation of the unit as you miss giving important info. Like tumbler size ? Do you need to raise the unit ?

    • @KimandGarrettmakeit
      @KimandGarrettmakeit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We did not need to raise it for this tumbler (20 oz), but we did need raise it with some MDF scrapes when we did the larger tumbler.

    Thanks guys, I am going nuts trying to find out which machine to buy. They all have problems of some sort.
    So you like Polar the best?

    • @KimandGarrettmakeit
      @KimandGarrettmakeit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the Polar, it works great. It really comes down to what you want to make. If you plan to make smaller items (11" X 20") and tumblers, the Polar is GREAT. If you plan to make bigger things, you may want something with a larger cut area or a bigger passthrough. Hope this helped! ~garrett

      XTOOP P2 IS GREAT FOR TUMBLERS! Might be a bit more pricey but easiest machine I have used for tumblers

  • @ashleykinlaw4054
    @ashleykinlaw4054 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    my rotary spins the item around to the opposite side when you engrave. Do you know what the problem might be? It makes it harder to know exactly where the artwork will end up.

    • @KimandGarrettmakeit
      @KimandGarrettmakeit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you using xTool Design Space or Lightburn? Lightburn has two places to check for the rotary. Is the rotary facing the right way? (just checking)

    Could you raise the machine to do larger diameter tumblers?

    • @KimandGarrettmakeit
      @KimandGarrettmakeit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      YES! I tried to do my larger tumbler and had to slide 3 pieces of of 1/4" mdf under each foot. BUT it came out awesome! The connecter cable for the rotary attachment should be a few inches longer, but it worked.

      @@KimandGarrettmakeit I had just realised that the polar is really not that deep (5cm). And i wondered if it can be lifted. Technically, could I lift the machine(as high as required) to engrave even larger items than a tumbler? I like the 60w but I have an home office so a beast like that is a no go. Would appreciate your opinion. Thanks!!

      I’m reusing a tumbler to figure out settings, so I have markings all over so far. But as I start a new one, I try to put it in a blank area from Lightburn using the camera control. But once’s it starts, the tumbler rotates and then it’s writing/engraving over other stuff I’ve tried to do and not the black area anticipated. I manually place it on the rotary for a blank area but then it’s turns and it’s engraving over something else.
      I hope I explained this better lol

  • @m1sund3r5tood1
    @m1sund3r5tood1 ปีที่แล้ว

    So wait, you’re working with metal, which the manual says not to do, i read another comment that you weren’t specifically “engraving” it but more so burning the white (paint) part off, so then are we to only buy tumblers that come already coated in colors? I’m about to get my Polar shipped soon and was excited to personalize tumblers and reading that you shouldn’t use any metal was a bummer.

    • @gw1814
      @gw1814 ปีที่แล้ว

      CO2 lasers can't "engrave" into metals, they burn off the coating.
