@@sulaymaniqbal2817 You're better off just lugging around a rain jacket or poncho in your saddlebag. Something at least partly hi-vis for those dark storms. Do a search for ECWCS jackets are pricey, but worth it in the end. Keeps you dry and warm during rough nights, so long as you're not overly worried about how it makes you look.
I found that using rubber gloves gives you more leverage and coverage when rubbing in the conditioner and cleaner. It also saves on the amount of product you're using, because it doesn't soak into the gloves. Put the jacket on and rub it in using the gloves. When doing the back of the jacket, simply put the jacket on backwards. Give it a try.
Two words: baby wipes. They clean without damaging the material (they're made for cleaning sensitive baby skin) and they moisturize. You're welcome....
A lot of professional car detailers and home cleaning/restoration people use Lysol for deodorizing. I learned that secret years ago and....it freaking works! Smelly sneakers? Hit them with Lysol. Smelly car vents? Don't pay for those expensive deodorizing kits. One can of Lysol will do it! (Search TH-cam for some How To vids) Old, smelly leathers or work gear? Shoot the inside with Lysol. I conditioned this big long leather coat that I've had for 15+ years for the first time ever. I used Mink Oil. It feels so damn soft now. The jacket itself wasn't worn much. It was always too big for me. I also conditioned 3 of my leather jackets for their first times ever also with Mink Oil. 2 of them I've had for 6 and 7 years. Using the cleaner that conditioner too , how often can that be used? like every time or...? I have white parts that get always dirty and I use always that cleaner to clean it . Thanx !
Like I mentioned in the video, you really only want to condition once a year. If you are rocking white leathers that need frequent attention you're going to want to stay away from a cleaner/conditioner combo for regular cleanings. If you're getting the leathers dirtier that what a regular spot cleaning with baby wipes can resolve, I would recommend using a standard cleaner for regular use and then a conditioner (or conditioner/cleaner) combo once a year.

Try mixing up 50/50 water and rubbing alcohol in a small bowl. Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth and wipe down the bags (including the insides if necessary). If there is visible mold or mildew, you can use a soft bristle brush with the water/alcohol mixture to lightly scrub affected areas in a circular motion. Then let the bags air out for at least a couple days. Once the odor goes away, use a leather conditioner. -DrewZilla
Why not just turn it inside out, and throw it in the washer? As long as you use the right kind of soap, and not la8uundry detergent, it won't hurt anything. @@theunholinesswithin70 I'm not a doctor or a virologist dude, but from what has been on TV with regards to advice on social distancing, 2m/6ft is enough to stay virus free. Flying down the road at 4mph, I'd imagine you'd be just fine. Plus the virus can only last on surfaces for a few hours as I understand so just don't lick your jacket :P

Products which are prescribed for leather boots will still function appropriately on a leather jacket right?
Not necessarily. Products for boots might be harsh for a jacket. We recommend products designed for motorcycle-specific leather jackets. -DrewZilla
How would you maintain a mesh motorcycle jacket? Or textile?
+Two Wheels and Tech I just wash it
There should be a tag with care instructions. Usually for mesh just remove the armor and wash it on a gentle cycle....
I clean my riding leathers the same way I do my Red Wing boots.
The jacket you are "conditioning" is a coated leather similar to the top coat on your paint... As far as I am aware you can't condition leather like that and your best bet is to just keep it clean. Same for the likes of couches and car seats
How do you clean a Dainese jacket inside? I know that it comes with anti microbial whatevers but still, that's not a black hole that makes all my sweat, skin and odors to magically disappear. I'd rather like to get the inside actually clean. Tips? Thanks!
You can use a de-salter and potentially anti-bacterial wipes on the liner. -DrewZilla
"If its good enough for a baby's ass, its good enough for me. Thats my life motto" LOLOLOL!!
Thanks for this! I've been doing research online, and I'm glad I came across this video!
+Spurgeon Dunbar i have just the cleaner it seems so i guess it is fine always just that ! I have lits of white on my jacket , i clean it once a week ( ride daily )
Oh.I love the tshirt. What about waterproofing. What product do you recomend?

One piece of real advice: don't listen to stores telling you what to buy.
can i use soap and water
after condition the leather jacket, is it we still need to waterproof protect the jacket?
We don't recommend riding in the rain with leather unless the leather is specifically designed for wet weather. To increase some leather's water-resistance a bit, you can use NikWax Leather Restorer in place of a standard leather conditioner. -DrewZilla

Can you use microfiber towels and applicators?
Sure, you can use those as well. -DrewZilla
Just curious to know, if I used rubbing alcohol on my jacket, in areas that I found mold on (cause i had this jacket sitting in my basement for like, 1 year), would that be a good solution to kill any mold or fungus?
You could try rubbing alcohol, but be sure to test it on a very small section to be sure it doesn't discolor your jacket. -DrewZilla
What do you guys think of Lexol Cleaner and Lexol Conditioner?
+Mike Anoneemus Icon recommends Lexol for their leather jackets, so it would be safe for other standard finish leather jackets as well. We would not recommend it on suede, waxed, or vintage leather. We also would not recommend it for Dainese's jackets, as they have their own leather cleaner. -DrewZilla
I use both the Lexol cleaner and conditioner (both spray bottles) on my Alpinestars jacket. I clean and condition it at the end of the riding season and so far so good. 4 year old jacket with 32,000 miles...still looks brand new.
will this work on lamb leather
Generally, lamb leather is more delicate than cowhide, so you should try to find a conditioner specific for lamb leather. Unfortunately, we do not carry any conditioner for lamb leather. -DrewZilla
I recently pulled a leather riding vest from storage and it smells like its been there for ages. I have aired it and placed it under the sun but it still smells like storage. Can I use Febreeze on the outside leather itself or is there any other alternative?
Yes, you can try some Febreeze, but that's better for fabrics. You might try a de-salter like Spurgeon uses in the video. -DrewZilla
I had forgotten about a couple of leather jackets I had stored in a clothes bag in my basement. they are really stiff and look as though they have the beginnings of mold or mildew on the outside. lots of white spots which will wipe off with water, but not sure if I should use water? I'd like to clean and recondition these jackets , but not sure how to approach it.
We would recommend following the same steps in this video. Using proper cleaner and conditioner should help refresh the leather. -DrewZilla

What can I use to clean and moisturize sheepskin leather?
What if the armor on my jacket, Rev'it Stellar, is non removable in the forearms which will prevent me from turning it inside out? (also is it safe to use these products with the armor in or will they damage the protection provided by the armor in any way?)
If you cannot turn the jacket inside out, then just do your best to clean the inner forearms without turning the arms fully inside out. -DrewZilla
Will this method also maintain a white leather to stay white? Because white leather tend to go yellow-ish after some time
Yes, this method will also help white leather to stay white. -DrewZilla

Is there a video on how to clean nubuck jackets like the dainese street rider?
I'm sorry, but we do not have a video for nubuck. You can wash the inner liner similarly to a regular jacket, but as I mentioned in my response to your other comment, we recommend using a suede brush and suede/nubuck cleaner. -DrewZilla
Hello my friend, I'm from Brazil and I would like to know what kind of product I could use in my macao to moisturize and soften the leather

What jacket is this you used on this video?
Plus 1 for a mesh jacket.
My Teknic Supervent Mesh is washable, just air dry. I don't think drying by machine is wise. Check your care tags!
Update... "My leather pants smell like stale piss...". I went to hang my leathers up outside in the shed to air them out... I had them hanging up in my house after spraying Febreze, and I smelled them before going outside... The smell is actually gone, very surprised. It works guys!
Is leather water proof? Ive been stuck on wanting to get a real nice leather jacket or something more "versital" as my main riding jacket.
Generally, no, leather is not waterproof, and a lot of leather can be damaged by water if not properly maintained. However, you might consider a leather/textile hybrid jacket that's also waterproof or just a waterproof textile jacket. -DrewZilla

How do I clean the Patches on my leather vest.
Most Belstaff jackets come with slightly waxed leather. How can we re-wax the leather to give it that beautiful waxy sheen?

I have one very important question: Should i trust a dry cleaner? They ask for 50$ to clean and maintain my jacket.
I would not trust a dry cleaner with an actual motorcycle jacket. You really need to use non-damaging cleaner and protectant on motorcycle leather. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla Ok one more question, i have a Dainese leather jacket with some suede parts, any advice on how to clean it?
I took a very expensive leather coat to a dry cleaner. When I got it back it was 3 shades darker and reeked of chemicals. I never wore it again and it went in the trash.
But what if the leather jacket is a dainese 2 piece racing suit? Specially inside the sleeve arm.??
You might need to spray inside the sleeve and then pull a towel through the sleeve after the de-salter/cleaner has time to work. -DrewZilla
if i dont want to wait for shipping time to get that exact de-salter, whats an alternative i can buy from like Walmart or sumthing? Would a regular stain remover on the liner work too?
We don't have any Wal-Mart recommendations, and we cannot guarantee how a regular stain remover might affect the leather on the interior of your jacket. You're welcome to try whatever you want though. -DrewZilla

How come they make waterproof leather boots but not jackets?
Generally it's about price and demand. There are a couple waterproof jackets that incorporate leather (REV'IT! and Dainese), but there are only a couple full leather jackets that are waterproof. The Rukka Merlin (now being discontinued) and the Aerostich Transit (seems to be discontinued as well). Both jackets were upwards of $1000 or more. -DrewZilla

What do you recommend for buffalo leather?
If it has a similar sheen (not a natural rough finish or suede), then you can use the same process. -DrewZilla
Is conditioning the same thing as waterproofing?
No, they aren't the same thing. Conditioning leather means to clean the leather and maintain the correct moisture/flexibility of the leather, so that it doesn't become brittle and crack. Waterproofing just means to attempt to waterproof the leather. -DrewZilla
@@RevZilla thank you so much for replying. For about a month and a half Ive asked several channels that are specifically for leather care and no one has replied until you did. I have another question. What about Armor All? Is that bad for a leather jacket?

@@RevZilla i didn't think so but sometimes you never know. I did read a couple of places that (unscented) baby wipes were good for periodic cleaning. The logic of it makes sense, in that if its ok for a baby's skin its safe for leather, however, im not 100% comfortable with it. There are so many different things on the market and im sure that there are some home remedies that are safe.
My saddle bags have a musty smell from being down cellar, what should I use
Try mixing up 50/50 water and rubbing alcohol in a small bowl. Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth and wipe down the bags (including the insides if necessary). If there is visible mold or mildew, you can use a soft bristle brush with the water/alcohol mixture to lightly scrub affected areas in a circular motion. Then let the bags air out for at least a couple days. Once the odor goes away, use a leather conditioner. -DrewZilla
That's it? What about cleaning the jacket on the inside?
Try using Febreeze or a mild disinfectant spray. Avoid bleach though. -DrewZilla
... any difference with suede? or cotton liner on the inside?
Suede requires specific suede cleaner. You do not want to use this process. For a cotton liner, we'd just recommend Febreze. -DrewZilla

Why not just turn it inside out, and throw it in the washer? As long as you use the right kind of soap, and not la8uundry detergent, it won't hurt anything. Just dry it out for a few days, conditioning it once a day, and at the end, when it's completely dry. Works way better than just spraying it down with stuff that won't get the salt and sweat off.
i dont turn it inside out but i do throw it in the washer useing tide soap then lay flat on a towel 1 day dry time works great never had a problem
