- Hey Everyone,
Today I made 2 different kinds of baklava: a Turkish style made with pistachios and a Greek style made with walnuts. Both of the versions were so delicious and I can't wait for you to make them for yourselves. The phyllo dough was so crispy and the syrup added just the right amount of sweetness. This is one of my favorite desserts and will definitely be making it again in the future.
Ingredients:
Pistachio Baklava:
- 2 packages #4 phyllo dough
- 3 sticks of butter (clarified)
- 3 cups chopped pistachios
For syrup:
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 3/4 cup water
- 1 piece lemon zest
Walnut Baklava:
- 2 packages #4 phyllo dough
- 3 sticks of butter (clarified)
- 3 cups chopped walnuts
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
For syrup:
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup honey
- 2 pieces orange zest
- 1 cinnamon stick
Note on adding syrup:
I couldn't fit this in the video, but there are a couple different ways to add the syrup to the baklava. Some people like to add room temperature syrup to a hot baklava (as I did in the video), and others like to add hot syrup to a room temperature baklava. Both methods will work fine, but you should never add hot syrup to a hot baklava because it will make the phyllo soggy and ruin the crispy texture.

Been wanting to make this for a while, really excited to try this out!
Great! I hope it turns out well! ❤️
I like the walnut one and I've made it many times, I only have difficulty cutting it. But comes out delicious, I make it the same way as you do.
The walnut one is my favorite!!! 😋
Ironically I don’t think I’ve ever had walnut baklava but I think I gotta try it now
The phyllo work ethic is real, it can get very tedious with all the layers!
Lol, thanks! It did take a while, but it was fun, so it went quickly.
