Thanks for the code. I wanted to buy the jig a while ago, but lost job and didn't spend money on anything. Now I'm back in business and ready to roll. Getting your fence stop while at it. Cheers!
Thanks Jonathan, Bought the jigs and bought the saw. I've been making dovetails this winter and mistakes. Your final comment about finishing everything is excellent. I finished my first box out of pine and was happy everything worked in theory, but my joints.... I finished it and put some brass clasps on it, now it's something. Next box is out of red oak and I'm loving working with the harder wood. Thanks for the videos and getting me into this during these tough times. My Grandfather was a wood carver and a wood worker and it feels good to be following in his hobbies. Take care.
Very cool! Completely agree with your comments on Walnut/Malpel combo and appearance of dovetails before and after applying a finish. Thanks for the vid!
Bee-yootiful dovetails. This also just reminded me that I needed to add the 8:1 dovetail jig to the 6:1 I already have. Can’t wait to give this one a go. So glad the Joint of the Week is back!
Glad to see you back in the fight brother! I’m loving my Narex Richters and the two free K-M Jigs I got for my loyalty as a Patreon were well received by a fellow woodworker and fellow veteran in another state that I met and have hit it off with because of the spaces you and ME have brought to the woodworking world. No Easy Day! 👍
I got one of you alignment boards and dovetail guides for Christmas and my work has gone from ok to great. I've been trying to muster up the courage to do an inlayed dovetail. This video has inspired me to take the leap.
@@katzmosestools The only power tool I use is a bandsaw to resaw and I start with sawmill stock, so everything is hand thicknessed. It's fun, but a lot of work to get to the dovetailing stage. I've been afraid of spending the time and then messing up. With my luck I'll cut the tail of a tailboard, LOL.
Thank you Jonathan! I love Joint of the Week. Or Month. It’s been a while. ;). Good news is I got both Dovetail jigs for Christmas from a family member. What a great gift! I’ll try to do some practices this week.
I love that you're not afraid of the occasional innuendo or double entendre. This hobby lends itself to many, but some online communities (won't name names) have been getting a little too posh for that sort of thing and it's annoying.
I really really love your work! This will get me started soon! As an engineer that knows a lot about building but nothing about woodworking this will be glorious! Keep up the great work!
Hey Jonathan, I’ve gone through almost all of your videos now, bought myself some narex richter chisels, will be buying your dovetail jig and a coping saw soon, but I was wondering where I could find that little brass hammer? I just made my own Thor style hammer, but that little hammer looks like it won’t damage the richters. Thank you again for everything you have taught me!
Great video Jkm!! Is that an Estlea marking knife?? I was lucky enough to sneak one out of his last sale, Cocobolo w copper Ferrell. So glad to see you on JOTW again!!! I too am a privileged owner of both dovetail jigs, your stop block and a handful of Suizan saws!!! Keep up the greatness my good friend!!! Always looking forward to your next YT video!!!!!!
So I've been wanting to learn and practice dovetails in general. Instead of a "fancy" Japanese pull saw to cut the initial pins and rails would a hand miter saw work?
I've noticed that you have a habit of prying up with your chisels and coping saw, I wonder if thats causing some of your joint gap issues ? 🤔 really informative videos sir!
Good day Mr Moses wish you have a great day, I have been watching some of your videos making dovetail and I have a question, I want to build a bed with this type of join and I want to know if you have some video with some thing like this I mean using wide lumbers, I hope you can understand me and help me. Thank you very much, greattings from Mexico City
Alright this looks awesome but I can't for the life of me figure one thing out. Should the first set of tails (in the main board, not inlayed board) be cut 1/8" deeper than the width of the mating piece to account for the 1/8" inlay? When the jig hit the ground you were starting to say "It may seem counterintuitive" and that might be the question I'm asking. OR.... are the pins just narrower than they would be and this would work out just by following the "normal" marking out? Sorry this is probably simple but it's bending my brain early this morning.
@@katzmosestools thanks. I just can't see how it works in my brain. But I guess that's where the 3D part comes in and still shows on the front. Thanks for all your videos! Hoping to save up for a half decent set of chisels saw and your jig before too long!
Always enjoy your videos! The music when you were montaging and stuff like at 6:48 was just a little bit over powering, but as always the content was super good and enjoyable. No hate intended, I only share that to hopefully be constructive.
Great video, as usual, but I couldn’t make out what kind of flieger you’re wearing? It was driving me nuts. And when is the horology channel going to happen?
@@aarondsalberg I agree. I was making a joke though because for the two minute Tuesday he always made an excuse as to why there wasn’t an intro (might not have been two minutes Tuesday)

Just ordered both the dovetail jig’s, looking forward to using them. Glad I watched the video to the end for the discount code....cheers 👍
dovetail alignment board just blew my mind. it's the little things - thanks man!!

@@beernut6153 best part about dovetails is, if you screw up, you only have to remove like 3/8 of an inch and start over.

How many weed smokers have become woodworkers after mistakingly watching the joint of the week vids?
Truly a LOL question!
None. They lacked the motivation.

Too much tooth set but any saw could get the job done
which length of dividers do you recommend? 4",6",8",...
That's a slick brass hammer ;). awesome video

Beautiful joint. Quick question: Because the teeth are on one side of the saw, does it matter if you use it left-handed?
They're equal on both sides. There's "tooth set" on the left and right.

No you cut them the depth of the width of the board. Later you leave an eighth of the inlay
