This art screams Bravely series art, which is a good thing to me.
I'm definitely more interested in The Alliance Alive, but maybe I'll play this one eventually as well. I'm glad to see more 3DS RPGs getting remastered, especially ones I'd missed out on.
I'd say go with AA instead. Its basically the better version of this game. Unless you just want something more to play I guess
@@anorawxiaalliance Alive is great!
I appreciate you being real about the value of this, especially in this current day and age. Especially if they have you the limited edition and you were honest anyway!
Thank you Erick. Great review! I might give it a try, even if the "leveling" system is so messy.
Thank you for addressing whether the issues were fixed or not, Erick. You saved me money 🤣 I was planning on picking it up on a sale but maybe not. Might pick it up physically for my collection if it goes on huge sale. So glad I didn't pre-order this game and waited for reviews.
I had the 3DS version. I liked the exploration but was frustrated with the random tough enemies that my team could not stand a chance.
Maybe I will return to it one day but maybe not
same. I at some point I couldn't even grind my characters up. Battle seem like a waste of time when you can't see EXP and you don't know what kind of progress your making.
@@actionjackson6943 This game isn't about grinding, you need to unlock new skills to progress and get stronger.
@@stevenoel3152and how else do you unlock new skills? By grinding. 🙄
@@louvella-samaGrinding ain´t going to help. Stonger enemys have higher odds to trigger upgrades. Just try your luck and die a few times.
@@louvella-sama the way this game (or most saga-like games) works, you have higher chance to learn skills or gain stats based on how strong the enemies are. So grinding against the same enemies over & over again doesn't really help
I played a demo of the original game, and I enjoyed it. I would really like to play the remaster. I think they want to penalize you for running away, and that's not a bad penalty
I've already bought it for the PS4, and I'm planning to get it for the Switch and Steam as well.
Congrats!
as a saga enjoyer, i really liked this game.
ill keep an eye out for a sale.
It just went on sale on woot.
is there a ship to travel on the sea or the sky?
thats why i lov furyu games, look amazing.
I liked it a lot back in the day on the 3DS. The Music is amazing. I'm a fan of Hamauzu's work since FF XIII. The better graphics is a huge step from the original. Still I'll pass on this because owning the original is enough for me, but recommend to everyone who's interessted in. I'm wondering if there is player who ever beat the game 7 times, because there is a rumor of an secret ending when you finished the campaign with all characters as main. Great Review though👍🏻
My personal headcannom with this game is that it's cursed.
I tried to buy it 3 times, through 3 different marketplace websites, and in all 3 ocassions, for some reason or another, the package was either lost, retrieved back by the seller and refunded against my will, or the seller straight up never had it in their inventory.
Luckily. I did find it physically in a store in my city, but if anything, I'll always remember this game for that.
I have a lot of fond memories of the 3DS version of this game though I'm pretty sure I didn't play it until after playing The Alliance Alive. Still I've loved the Saga games since the dawn of my JRPG playing. Final Fantasy Legend/Saga II was the second turn-based JRPG that I owned which I played and the third I played total. Its easily my favorite of the turn-based JRPGs I had played to that point, even including Final Fantasy I which I got the same day but was the fourth I played due to taking an out of state vacation right after getting it. So more Saga like games is never a bad thing IMO. Now if only they would remaster Saga Frontier II already..(Its the only Saga game released in the US that I've never owned.)
I’m guessing those of us that own AA and most Suikoden titles may as well pick this up just to have a sense of completion..
As someone who always 100% every map in both Star Ocean 3 & 4, I don't see a problem with exploring the maps. Also, I'm used to the Saga Frontier style of battles and level ups, so I don't think that'll be a problem. I'm try this game for the 3ds (on my 3ds Citra emulator, of i can find a rom that'll work for my Yuzu Switch emulator, I might try that one as well). ❤
The problem with this game's map is that even if you 100% the map, the areas you already explored are still covered by fog so you still don't see your surroundings well which doesn't make sense if you've already cleared the area map.
Very niche game. Has a good soundtrack.
I beat this game on 3ds, it's hidden gem.
I have the launch edition for 3DS and only played it a bit. I can’t remember why I quit but usually it’s because it’s not interesting enough for me to continue. I also quit Alliance Alive but may give it another shot at some point. People are comparing it to SaGa games. I also quit one of those. Maybe I’m just a quitter or maybe there’s something about these games that make them not for me. At any rate I find it odd for them to remaster a game that had mixed reviews. Everyone has different tastes and experiences though. Thanks for your review!
Did some of the same people work on Alliance Alive? That one is great and reminded me of SaGa/FFL1-2. This one… I dno.
dude you should review English patched games too, some are really good
Why is this getting such a low review score on PSN? Am I missing something, it looks good..
Erick's based for picking Eloise
Thanks for the review. I am waiting my copy of the game. Hehehe I also love PLOT reasons 😏
the cock torture of a game not worth it bro
many of us understand the kind of plot we want
Now I'm glad I didn't play this game on the 3ds
I'll be glad for you if you just skip it
Characters look like Bravely Default characters
This looks like the wish version of Bravely Default
These will never happen again ....this is y we want physical to stay
They should have fixed the name
...for a "The legend of why this game can't end right now"
So random that this got an hd remastered 😂
Looks like a 75% sale game.
You forgot one crucial detail Erick. THIS GAME COST $50! For a remaster, that is super-high, especially considering it added virtually nothing. Hell, people complain about remasters costing $35. And with the plethora of much better RPGs available, this won't do it any good. It was very telling when the Alliance Alive got a remaster way before this game did. My summation, dead on arrival.
It even released along with Princess Peach Showtime - a FIRST PARTY NINTENDO game, not to mention the bad rep TLoL got on 3DS so people are already wary about picking this up considering all the issues on the 3ds
Good point, it was most likely a mistake that he forgot since he usually brings up pricing of remasters/rereleases/etc in his commentary
I am still pissed off by this game's marketing back on the 3DS.
Having a fully localized demo but the game is only avaiable in english? That's misleading at best and really scummy.
Just install Yuzu and enjoy. Not worth to pay 50$ for it.
Pirating is lame
It is your right to think this way
They wasted their money of remastering a Garbage
Romancing SaGa, this is not…..
"Hum! Plot reasons!" 😏 This channel is amazing.
Haha for pöot reasons 😂
This just looks like a worse version of The Alliance Alive
Well, it was made first by the same guys so it checks out...
It's almost like this was from the same developer or something 😱
Because it is
I bought The Alliance Alive HD a couple of years ago and still haven't played it, but it seems people don't like it as much either.
This game is overpriced for an updated port.
I can't be the only one who thinks this has one of the dumbest names for a game they could have come up with.
Thgis edition is boring
We don't Eric, the game is a trash. It's not fun to play tug of war and casino at the same time. Stroy is near to none, battles are over too long and tedious, exploration are half-ass. Game want you to replay it multiple time but it's not worth it at all. I beat it as frog and deeply disappointed with final battle and ending. Just buy better game guys - it's not a hidden gem, it's hidden poop.
The game is a trash? Seems like you never played a saga game
@@omensoffate nah, Alliance Alive is also a saga-like game and it didn't suck. Stop using Saga as an excuse
Was too difficult for some. Gaining skills was a challenge for newbs
@@louvella-samai played both and while Alliance Alive is clearly more polished in terms of story and characters interaction, I found that the difficulty was completely off being extremely easy. Legend of Legacy (which is way harder) has some charm in its mystery and obscure learning curve. Its niche as hell but I find that being one of its uniqueness.
@@claudio3431when I played legend of legacy, i started the game to understand the feeling. Completed the first or second map, and then erased my save and started it anew, changing my main, but using some other character i liked as my buddy. In that second playthrough, in the first map, my buddy learned a skill so broken that was the only thing it needed till the end of the game...
I'm not a fan of saga, but i found this game balance completly broken by randomness. I played ff2, the ones from the gba, and a titled "saga" for the ps1, and alliance alive too... in neither of them i found such disvalance in the random system of saga games. Yes alliance alive is an easy one, but i still cannot see this one as a good game for anyone as it has nothing elsemto offer, but for saga fans. I know that some people can enjoy this game, but it doesn't make it good.
