Female here that so appreciates your video! Fixed it all by myself! Very great explanation in detail. I numbered the screws and placed them on a post-It note (1,2,3...) I took a picture of the numbered post it note on the dryer where the screw went to know exactly where the screws went back. #feelingtough
I can't thank you enough for taking the time to teach others. I've watched your video two times to repair my Samsung dryer. I appreciate you and your willingness to help others.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Even a 60 year old woman can repair her own dryer thanks to your video. I was told by a technician that it would cost me roughly $250.00 to repair the problem. He said he thinks he knew what was wrong and that's what it would cost me. Well yeah he knew, you said here that this dryer is notorious for this problem. Giving the time of season, I was REALLY Not happy to hear that, and then I found you. You saved my Christmas!!! God bless you kind sir for this very useful and easy to follow instruction. Also thank you for the link to replace the part with a GOOD replacement!!
I JUST did the all by myself. Yes, I’m a women lol. My husbands been working insane hours so I surprised him and actually FIXED IT! I can’t thank you enough for the video.
I have done everything he did, except front of drier at the bottom seems to be attached still. Wondering if there were more screws at bottom or are there latches? He didn’t show that part in vid so I’m wondering if there’s goop in there sealing it together… the top of my drier had rusted a little and I had to take knife to separate…
Thanks for the video and the links to the parts. When I got it opened up yesterday, it looked like you had taken a picture of the inside of my dryer. Made my life a lot easier. My husband and I both have covid right now, and it was awesome that I didn't have to spend a lot of energy looking for the parts. Amazon delivered it this morning, and I'm already up and running again. Thank you!
yea, I bought both washer and dryer same issues. My wife loved them and it worked fine, but at two years, started having issues with washer, out of balance issues. Luckily, it was a recall so paid nothing for repairs/replacement. Now, we have the same issues with the dryer idler arm making a lot of noise. Replaced it. fixed, but am feeling ripped off now. Our last "cheap" washer and dryer lasted over 15 years, never had any issues. We were young and couldn't afford any "good" washer and dryers back then. Survived five major moves across the US and back. Never an issue other than dents and dings from moving so much. Decided to buy what we thought were better and higher end washer dryer set and it turned out to be just cheap, poorly made Korean junk. Lesson learned. Thanks Samsung. Buying only American again.
Our situation was largely the same as yours. We bought what we thought was a better washer dryer and it's been an expensive pain. Apparently, this idler pulley problem is common on this dryer, based in internet searches. Called Samsung's support line. They were as useless as teats on a boar hog and denied any problems with the idler pulley Went through the same recall as you on the washer and then the dryer quit 3 months after our 3 year extended warranty expired. I'm going back to the old style simple agitator washer when the washer quits.
Exact same situation we bought the pair and after about three years they are trash , because of them I made sure not to buy Samsung for my refrigerator or stove
Matt, A year ago I used your video to replace the idler pulley. This time I used it to replace all of the drum rollers. I got a few details from other videos on the drum roller part. Your video is so detailed at taking this dryer apart and putting it back together. Thank you again!
You saved my life!!! I followed your video step by step and you made it a breeze! I never would have a clue how to take it apart. You saved me a FORTUNE with the amazon link, I checked the online appliance parts places and they wanted $40. PLUS this was a ball bearing pulley. for $10.00. Incredible video, I just cannot thank you enough!!!
Thanks! My squeak turned out to be a bad drum roller in the back. The bad roller was hard to turn and was leaking oil. I bought the whole tune up kit (4 rollers, belt, and idler pulley) from amazon using your discount code as once already inside dryer just easier to just replace everything. Note on the drum rollers one does not have to replace the posts. Suggestion: Wear gloves and long sleeved shirt to reduce chance of scraping skin on the sharp metal inside the dryer, especially when reaching in to place the belt back on the pulley.
Perfect video - every other samsung dryer video had a front mounted panel, and the top came off quite differently. Really appreciate the step-by-step disassembly - spot on for my dryer. Thank you!
Thank you!! You saved me!! I'm a mom of 5 who must get laundry done. I was able to do this myself and it worked perfectly (the same exact issue and my dryer is only a couple of years old too) This video is PERFECT!! thanks again!!
Thanks Matt! I watched a dozen videos trying to find the one that made the most sense without needless steps and then I saw yours that starts out just popping the top up instead of removing all kinds of screws in the back. What a time saver. You made my day.
Thanks for the fine video. I had to disassemble my daughter's Samsung dryer after she moved to a different home. Your excellent directions made the task very easy. It turned out that nothing was broken in the machine but it did have a lot of lint, dirt, coins, etc that had gotten in the fan which I removed. I then vacuumed out the whole interior and reassembled it. Ran like a new dryer.
Very helpful! Me, my mom, and step dad just took apart our Samsung dryer piece by piece at 1am just by following your video! My string to my robe got caught somehow in the drum. We we’re afraid that we’d have to buy a new one and we’ve only had this one for around 2 years. It was tedious trying to pull it out but we got it done and put everything back, now it’s spinning again! Thanks ❤️
It's now 2020 and this video is STILL spot on! Thanks Matt, I took my Samsung apart in about 10 minutes and mine was like yours, burned and came apart. My part will be here in less than two days. Thanks again!
Thank You Matt! Awesome video. Our dryer is only a year old and it started making a high pitched squealling sound. It's a Samsung Dryer Model # DV48J7700EW/A2. I got on-line with a Samsung Tech - via a chat - and asked him what Idler Pulley I needed for our dryer. He recommended part number DC93-00634A. Their parts operation wanted $37 for the part with about a week delivery time. I got on-line with Amazon and found the exact part (upgraded with Ball Bearings) for $14.97 with next day delivery. I received the part today and, with your expert guidance, installed in in about 1 hour. It now works like a champ.
This is a very helpful video. I have repaired many washer and dryers at home and this guy is awesome. The best part of this video is he is barefoot and in shorts.
Thanks a million! Really! Perfect instructions and a link to buy the parts. You saved me a lot of money and it was easy to do. Even an almost 60 year old woman can do it!
Thank you for the video! Almost scrapped our dryer thinking the repair would be as much as a new one. $30 on Amazon for parts and your video and I'm back in business.
After watching your video I headed to the laundry room. I had my worn out pulley in my hand in about 8 minutes and then headed to my local appliance parts store. They wanted $58 for the pulley! I told them to keep it and came back home and ordered the one from Amazon. Even if I have to replace this every year or so (my original lasted 26 months) that amazon price is a good deal. Thanks for the video!
Thank you Matt. Followed the process to disassemble, checked the rollers, bushing, pully and everything was fine, Fortunately found only that a nickle had lodged itself between the drum and case so the repair was much easier, but you just saved me $$. I really appreciate.
THANK YOU!! I've had this same problem twice now. But this time I used the ball bearing roller so hopefully this was the last time... Your video has been the best I've seen as far as getting the dryer apart and back together again.
Matt, Your instructional walk-through was mindful, accurate and descriptive. Part replaced and we are back up and running. Add me to the list of the deeply appreciative!
Thank you for making this video! My dryer was making the exact same noise and this video helped me fix my dryer! Saved me what I can only imagine would've been a lot of money on appliance repair or needlessly replacing my dryer! I replaced the belt, the pulley, and 2/4 drum wheels. 2 of them I could easily get to and it was clear the bearings were worn, they had grease leaking from them. The other two were in pretty good shape anyway - still spun freely. Thanks again!
Thank you for this extremely resourceful video. I could never have imagined doing such a daunting task on my own but your video, along with another one on TH-cam, had my dryer behaving within no time and saved me $$$
Thank you so much! I just completed this in about 20 minutes with my dad’s help and followed your steps. It’s definitely easier with an extra hand. Saved me so much money and now I don’t have to listen to a squeaky dryer anymore!
Thank you so much for this video. I thought my belt had broke and had no idea how to disassemble this dryer. The idle pully was the issue and thanks to your video I was able to fix this on my own spending just under $12 for the part. Saving this video for future reference. Again, thank you so much!
Matt, thanks for the video bro! You saved my family some headache and some dollars!!! Your clear instructions made it super easy to dismantle and put back together my dryer. My idler pulley was gone! And somehow my motor wasn't spinning at all. So I decided to take a look at the blower wheel, and found out a baby sock was stuck in there, and was keeping the wheel from spinning. Hence the motor too was stuck. I removed the sock, and since I already had the dryer completely open - Thanks to your instructions - I decided to clean EVERYTHING!. I even applied some lithium grease to the motor as well. Everything is back to normal. The dryer is running just like on day 1. Thanks again!
Just used your video to fix my dryer. I was having the same issue, seems like something Samsung would put a recall on. Works like a charm after completing your fix.
Thanks for the video. It was a great help. Ordered the part as you described and fixed my dryer without paying a technician a few hundred dollars to do the same. It was an easy fixed with the exception of tying the belt. It took me a bit longer to figured out a way to put the belt in place. Thanks again for the video.
Your video was spot on. The idler pulley was shot and was positioned on the bottom of the dryer pretty much where yours was. The belt had been running on the pulley shaft since the wheel was gone - I wonder why the belt wasn't thrown when the pulley came off? The black belt shavings were enough to make me order a new belt when I got the replacement pulley. I vacuumed the entire area for lint, dust, etc. The only thing I can add is to make sure the new belt stays straight, groove side against the drum when installing it - mine twisted and was a pain to get straightened when putting it over the idler pulley and onto the drive pulley. When I cleaned out the fan cover, I noticed that the cheap edging material had torn and come off. I used duct tape built up the same thickness to repair the missing material, reassembled and it's all good.
Thank you for playing the noise first. So many videos just start in with a verbal description of the noise, and then the repair, and we don't know if it's the same sound that the dryer we have is making. In my case, the sound is different, and I've already gotten a new motor and drum roller kit, but those replacements did not fix the problem.
We just had this same exact issue with our dryer and I got the part you linked on the way. Was a pain trying to it off the samsung parts website but I hope it goes smoothly. Thks for the vid!!!
My dryer is making that noise to but when I took it apart everything looked good so I went online to purchase the kit. Installed and quite like clock work. Thanks for your help. Dave
Another thumbs up for the usefulness of this video. LIke many others - it saved lots of $$$ being able to repair myself. The biggest P.I.T.A. was getting the belt around the motor and pulley after the fix.
Dude thank u so much! Same exact dryer as me, same problem. Dryer is about 4yrs old & didn’t wanna spend $700 to replace. We just replaced the fridge 😖. Part was $20, we went ahead and replaced the belt just in case as well. Thank you thank you.
You, sir, are a legend. This dryer has some serious design flaws, and it's my second Samsung dryer with unusually low parts durability. Thanks to you, the maintenance was really straightforward. 🤓👍 I replaced my squeaky tensioner pully, but also discovered a couple failing roller bushings. They're on the to do list for next time. Thanks again!
Thank you! My issue was quite simple but showing popping the top and getting the front removed was a big help. Somehow my wife managed to drop tweezers down the lint trap & into the white plastic fan.
Thanks for the video. I have the same type of dryer but it's from 2012. It has the same procedure to take it apart. I guess all the Samsung's that look like this one are probably similar. The most useful thing that you showed for me was how the belt goes on. As mine was not connected at all. Thanks!
Thanks for a great video! This job could not be done otherwise; available diagrams on the web are too blurry to be any use. So I just finished replacing the tensioner and the belt on my dryer. On my model, I found it impossible to maintain the tensioner and the belt in the correct position while, at the same time, reinstalling the drum and rethreading the belt over it. So I used a trick: I tied the tensioner in position using a cable tie, this allowed threading the belt easily over the drum without possibility of it falling off the motor drive or the pulley. I reassembled everything, and then cut and removed that cable tie using the access from the back. This requires removing the exhaust tube. Note that, in principle, if you don't have to replace that belt, you could do all this from that access at the back. However, the opening is just big enough for reaching with one arm at the time, so it would not be too easy. Again, great video.
My daughters Samsung dryer is making way more noise and vibration than your, suppose I'm going to have to fix it for her. Thanks for the tear down and reassemble video. It will help a lot. Just need to figure out what parts need replacing. Three daughters go through a lot of cloths!
Thanks, exactly what I needed but I accessed this pulley from the back near the exhaust and it was much easier. Also, thanks for posting the link to the part.
I gotta say, half-way through your video I was thinking, wouldn't it be easier to go in from the back? The answer is a resounding YES! That is, if your arm is skinny enough to fit through the vent opening... on my model, it's just the round vent pipe opening... on other models, a larger panel comes off. AND Thank you for the diagnosis and replacement part links! I knew before opening the thing up that this is exactly my issue, based on the noise you recorded and the "clunk" you described.
Thank you for the video, it's exactly what I needed. Mine didn't melt but was still making that sound. I think it just needed some lubricant, though I changed it for a new part. Just saved a couple hundred in service and now I know how to take it apart if I ever need to replace the rollers or belt.
Thank you so much for sharing this video ... the beginning where you showed the sound it was making helped us make a correct diagnosis on our dryer problem ... and replacement was so easy.
Matt, Tommy A. here. Your video was perfect! I went straight to the problem and had it replaced and back together in no time at all once I got the part. The link worked great but like you said might happen the part was the same as the original and no ball bearings. So it just depends on what they have I guess. There was no real description of the item beyond the model number. Hopefully I won't have to do it again. Thanks for the video!
If you didnt get a part with the ball bearing, YOU WIll HAVE to do it again. I replaced mine three times until i found the one with the bearing. THanks!
Great video. Pulley bought from link above wasn’t quite as good, definitely need to use the new screw and on my dryer the drum isn’t symmetrical so needed to flip. Video was so useful - replayed the belt around the pulley clip a few times to understand.
Very helpful video!!! My Dryer is a little bit different than the one you worked on. However, I was able to use your video to replace the idler pulley and also the belt and four drum pulleys. The pulleys were difficult to remove because I think the assembly was done with power tools. They were very tough to get them off but I succeeded and I’m glad to have fixed it. Dyer is working very well!!!
Thank you. 😊 Your directions were spot on and helpful. Even mine was a bit different but still spot on! I only had to clean the tensioner pully, for now. 😆
Thank you so much for this video! The exact same thing happened to our dryer. I ordered the replacement part and will be able to fix it on my own once it comes in.
Thank you so much. You video was extremely helpful. I had the same problem and was able to fix it. I saved so much money and learned a few things along the way. Thanks again.
Thanks for taking the time to do your video, ours quit the other day,and after pulling it apart it was almost an identical problem as yours. Now have a happy wife and a happier life!LOL
Thanks for the video. Had the same problem. Belt started"screaming". DOn't know if it was the belt, the pulley or the bearing. Replaced them all to be on the safe side.
Marcin Fabianski hey I’m not real sure what part number it was. I work at an appliance store so my technician just gave me the part and I was on my way.
Thanks for the video. Ridiculous that mine went out after just two years of ownership. Cheap $20 part is going to stop me from ever buying a Samsung product again. Well done Samsung!
Mine did the same thing at the 7 year point. I got a kit with the tensioner, belt, and drum rollers off of Amazon for about 30 bucks. It was a good thing too because my drum rollers had a lot of resistance.
Thanks dude, I had the exact same problem the only thing I did differently was changed the drum rollers and the belt. with your video, it only took an hour!! (39.99 Amazon)
I am a 55 year old women and this video helped me along with my brother to repair my own dryer. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
I've used your video to fix my dryer twice. This is the definition of high quality step by step instructions. Thank you!
Female here that so appreciates your video! Fixed it all by myself! Very great explanation in detail. I numbered the screws and placed them on a post-It note (1,2,3...) I took a picture of the numbered post it note on the dryer where the screw went to know exactly where the screws went back. #feelingtough

I'm about to fix mine tomorrow too! We can do just as good, if not better. 😆 🤣

i’m going to work on mine soon too 😐 my mom said it would cost us $150 just to have it diagnosed and i went 😌 call me handyman
Plural? Or singular?

You are a life saver!!! If you were my neighbor, I’d buy you beer!! Thanks so much for this great video.
Brilliant video. Saved us so much time and money and made a worrying task easy. Thanks
Just followed this one step by step, and it is or was perfection. Fixed my dryer and I am so grateful for this video.
Thank you so much! I just completed this in about 20 minutes with my dad’s help and followed your steps. It’s definitely easier with an extra hand. Saved me so much money and now I don’t have to listen to a squeaky dryer anymore!

I have the same dryer with the same problem, and you probably just saved me hundreds for a little more than an hours worth of work.
Thank you very much for posting this video and sharing your knowledge. My grandson and I were able to repair out Samsung dryer thanks to you.

I just got a set that I'm renting from Ace rent to own so this better not happen to me:($$$$$$
@@BradBelk had to replace the idler pulley on my friends Samsung dryer, not once but twice with in 6months, it's like three years old😞
Thank you for this video. Diagnosed problem from your video. Ordered part ($11.00) and repaired in 1/2 hour. Thanks again 👍

So far so good, second time watching this video following it as I work on my dryer.
Thank you so much for posting this! Your instructions were excellent and our dryer is running perfectly. Much appreciated!
Thank you for the step by step tutorial. Saved me some time and money!
Thank you so much for making this video. It saved me a lot of money!
Thanks for making this video. Had to repair the exact same issue and this made it super smooth. Thanks for linking the part needed as well.
Thank you! My issue was quite simple but showing popping the top and getting the front removed was a big help. Somehow my wife managed to drop tweezers down the lint trap & into the white plastic fan.
Matt, thanks for showing us this. I think you actually have the same model as I do so this could be super helpful!!!
Thanks for the video. I have the same type of dryer but it's from 2012. It has the same procedure to take it apart. I guess all the Samsung's that look like this one are probably similar. The most useful thing that you showed for me was how the belt goes on. As mine was not connected at all. Thanks!
Thanks for putting this together. Excellent video! 👍
Can’t thank you enough, cheap dryer but repair was fairly easy thanks again!
Thanks to your video my dryer is quiet as a mouse again! Great job 👍🏽
Thanks, exactly what I needed but I accessed this pulley from the back near the exhaust and it was much easier. Also, thanks for posting the link to the part.
How did you access from back?
@@shawn4838 Take off the panel near the exhaust. I think it's just two screws.
@@mannyg1896 will try today! Thank you!
Saved me all kinds of money. Perfect video thank you
I gotta say, half-way through your video I was thinking, wouldn't it be easier to go in from the back?
Thanks!! Exactly what I needed AND I used your discount code and got the new part. Excellent tutorial!
THanks!
GREAT JOB , took me 1.5 hours total but took my time.
Great video. Pulley bought from link above wasn’t quite as good, definitely need to use the new screw and on my dryer the drum isn’t symmetrical so needed to flip. Video was so useful - replayed the belt around the pulley clip a few times to understand.
Fantastic video! Walked us right though fixing our dryer. Thank you.
Thanks! That's exactly what was wrong with ours. Your video showed exactly how to change it!
Thankful I had the exact same problem. I followed your video and fixed my dryer myself.
Thanks for a great video. I start taking my dryer apart tonight.
Thank you! Got it fixed for free thanks to your video!
Thank you. 😊
Your directions were spot on and helpful. Even mine was a bit different but still spot on!
I only had to clean the tensioner pully, for now. 😆
Fantastic job! you kept me from second guessing myself and probably saved me a service call.
Samsung wanted $100 just to come out and diagnose, not to mention parts and labor cost - this video probably saved me $300
This video was a one stop shop to fix my dryer including the part links. Thanks man!
Thanks a million for this video,Using your video as a guide made this a pretty easy fix.
Awesome video! Easy to follow, every step was perfectly explain and videoed, making disassemble and reassembly easy! Ur the man! Thx you
Thank you so much for this video!
Had the exact same problem with the same dryer! Thanks for the awesome video
Matt, this was a fantastic video. Followed what you did exactly and changed out the pulley today!
Thanks for the video. Had the same problem. Belt started"screaming". DOn't know if it was the belt, the pulley or the bearing. Replaced them all to be on the safe side.
Thank you! This tutorial was super simple for me to follow and i appreciate it so much!
My dryer works now thanks to your video! Pretty painless work! Seems like it is a very common issue with these type of models. Mine was melted off.
Hi what part n iui mber did buy ?
What part number is it ?
Marcin Fabianski hey I’m not real sure what part number it was. I work at an appliance store so my technician just gave me the part and I was on my way.
Thanks for the video. Ridiculous that mine went out after just two years of ownership. Cheap $20 part is going to stop me from ever buying a Samsung product again. Well done Samsung!
Mine did the same thing at the 7 year point. I got a kit with the tensioner, belt, and drum rollers off of Amazon for about 30 bucks. It was a good thing too because my drum rollers had a lot of resistance.
Thank you much!! You saved me from my noisey dryer
thanks for the video. helped alot and saved me money on not having someone come to fix it. 👍👍👍
Thanks dude, I had the exact same problem the only thing I did differently was changed the drum rollers and the belt. with your video, it only took an hour!! (39.99 Amazon)
Thank you so so much for posting this video my dryer is similar to your but this was a great help for me I fixed my dryer.
