I went to that gig with the man who would be my husband and the father of my kids. A glowing, glorious memory.
This performance will be forever wonderful when you see it !! ... Saved here for us all to enjoy as long as we share this with friends and family... Thank you for your shared words. I introduced our daughter and her girlfriend to a concert at to me has always been the best venue.. Jones Beach took them both from camp ... My feeling is live music always took my breath away and when one goes at a young age it stsys as a pation forever ...

I have no idea, who is the best guitarist in the history of music, but for me the most beautiful and magical melodies have always been and will be those created by Mark and Dire Straits.

In 2025, it will be 40 years since this brilliant performance happened. It feels like yesterday, but alas, for those of us who saw this in 1985, time is no longer on our side. Perhaps that is why this performance is so poignant for us. But, who would have thought we would have had new music from Knopfler in 2024? Take the blessings where and when you can get them. Thank you Mark for being the soundtrack to my life.

@@MirellaZollo So well said for the 28 days there were in Sydney this place was heaven on earth everybody loved Dire Straits from little children to the elderly we moved as one in a divine that I have only felt once before when I was on the wrong end of CPR after getting careless with electricity.

Like everything in the arts, it's still there, but it simply isn't promoted. And ironically you could ask Knopfler's father why that is, as his people and their politics are largely responsible.

Dire Straits was the first band I git into in 1985, I was 11yrs old, Brothers In Arms was my 1st album I wish I was old enough to go to this concert at its time...... 51yrs old now & Dire Straits are still a big part of my music listening

I searched a lot but I think there exists only mono audio (or fake stereo) of this track, not good enough for an official album.
You can find it in the new 2023 Dire straits album "Live 1978-1992" in disc n.2

Brought a tear to my eye during the reminiscence, had been to the Spanish City a couple of times, many years ago with my late parents- brought it back, I guess- the outro was stunning as always, I’ve never seen a band so tight on stage as these guys. Loved seeing Jack Sonni up there, and thought Terry was miles better than Pick Withers. All over, a masterclass in musicianship, never to be forgotten, or surpassed❤️

I'm 46 years old and with a little help from my Pa every single year has been filled with music by this guitar playing/song writing GENIUS. Knopfler is the most gifted musician on the planet - in my eyes and heart.

I love this song, back in the 1980s in the UK this was broadcast on terrestrial TV. I had the VHS recording for years but like castles made of sand, it went to sea eventually. This is one reason I love TH-cam these classics resurface and hopefully forever. I have seen many versions of this 1985 Wembley concert now and I think this version is the best. There is normally a small tracking issue in the solo but this was flawless. Thanks for sharing :)

Hi mate how do you mean by a tracking issue? I've noticed on a few songs of his they will be slightly different or sometimes missing little parts from the Cd albums is this the same?
I was not even a thought in the minds of my parents in 1985 but wow, I ADORE this song! That solo part, the way Mark plays it, the passion, the slow build up that follows... Pure perfection!
I also love seeing the audience parts, it gives me a strange nostalgia of times I never experienced :')

I’m 42 and was born in the same area as mark my dad used to have dire straits blasting out of the Ford cortena when ever we went out. I’ve only recently started listening again, knopfler is a genius the best guitarist about🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
