Have you ever bought some car parts and decided to install them without doing any research beforehand? Well I did, and the result is this multi part series. This all started with what should have been a simple half day install of a crossover steering kit...and unfolded into 8 days of hilarious frustration and self realization.

Every single person watching this who has turned wrenches on their own vehicles can 100% relate. You start out confident, “Oooh, it looked straightforward in the instructions/YT video. If they can do it, then so can I.” Then 15hrs into the “three hour job,” you hit a breaking point where you’re better off walking away and re-examining the situation than continuing forward and breaking more shit. Thank you again for the honest content - it’s a big part of what keeps us coming back week after week instead of tuning in to other channels!
10000% 😂
9 times out of ten, what you watched some “expert” demonstrate, is super wrong.
I spent almost 3 hours on one bolt doing a coilover install on my Vette. Yea, it happens.
@@rynelson85 gets WAY worse when there’s rust involved too.
@@megansuefry5408 True, thankfully no rust on it but I work on vehicles and equipment at a landscape company that does salt/sand spreading in winter so an eye twitches in anticipation at the very word.
Love the cuts to the proper term.
you can tell that he was so over it too lol
@@june20886 Future Zack here, past me is REALLY gonna hate what's coming 🤣🤣🤣
I really like Zac’s content because it is very relatable. Working on “normal “ shit, not Ferraris or obscure vehicles and deals with real life normal issues. I could 100% see this going on at my garage any weekend. Not that I don’t like watching vin but this is more relatable to me.Keep it up!!
100%, I would go through the same struggle if not worse.
Vin drop, now Zac drop - all the good vibe and content! Keep it up sir!
Yes exactly. Ferrari transmission conversion, then 700 square body. Thats a great back to back watch!
This video was funny, and as someone who went to school for Hvac, that last closing statement had me dying.
This stuff is so relatable. The easy job that isn’t easy because your car manages to fight you every single step along the way. “Why won’t you just work?!”
Killed it with the drag link and tie rod edit 😂😂
finally a realistic videos of working on a car, NOTHING GOES RIGHT
Thank you!!!! That was legitimately the most accurate, the most legitimate demonstration of working on an older vehicle I've watched in a long time. I am here for all of this. Thanks again Zach
Zachary and Hert might just be one of the best automotive youtubers
Don’t forget Vin, I just watched his new video and it’s a banger
Vin brother
What? Lol. Not a chance
@@ALLGODSDIE youre obviously not a hoonigan fan
@@mckinnonwolf7877His channel is top notch
It crakcs me up, looking at the grille on that truck and remembering a time when turck badges weren't 17 feet wide. Just a tiny lil GMC in the middle does the trick lol
I love the Editing Zac smashcuts.. Keep up the stellar work boss!
The tie rod ahhhh I felt in my sole, whenever you’re working on a car and you forget what’s something called and you’re just like the do hickey connects to the thing 😂😂😂
Love seeing what actually goes into getting shit done on modifying cars/trucks. Shit goes wrong, things don't fit, or something you didn't foresee holds you up. Turns what you thought was a 3 hour project into a multi-day ordeal.
Had the same thing happen when I wanted to drop the pan and add some goodies plus a new oil pump on my 5th gen Camaro without dropping the subframe or pulling the engine. Even rented a lift at a local shop! Thought it would be 8-12 working hours to get it all done...
26 working hours and 4 days later... I got her off the lift... Definitely learned a lot from the whole experience! Like I should have dropped the subframe or just pulled the engine...
So stoked to see these channels keep producing just killer content. This is just so relatable and so fun to watch keep it up!
Love that you're just out here being you, showing the little pain in the ass things that come up and how you're dealing with em, really informative
that face at the end... yea... i'm living that life too.
How you’ve mastered the safety squint is impressive to see
The struggle is real and you're not alone brother! Good on you showing the real side of wrench turning!
Mister Zachary, I own a '84 Jimmy and I feel your pain and appreciate your efforts. Thanks a bunch for takin us all along for the ride😎
Thanks for riding along
Zac is tired, feeling your pain brother!!! At least you aren’t trying to get the old girl fixed through the night for work the next morning, we have all been there.
Love the channel
Watching you work on that front end is why I pay my mechanic thousands of dollars to work on my junk. Plus as a bonus, if he does it I usually don't end up walking. Love the show
LOOKING GOOD BROTHA !!
honestly some of the best automotive content, super relatable keep up the good work
This is soooo goooood! That's exactly how I work on cars & trucks. Keep up the good work. Love the content.
I love this! Makes me feel like I'm not the only one wanting to light by project car on fire when things go sideways. I feel ya Mr Zach
These videos are so good! I'll be catching all of them from now on!
Zach out here showing that he's a person just like us.
Damn you are dropping hot fire. Everything you're saying is so relatable.
So hyped to see this truck on some trials. I Dig your vision.
If you don't have a steering box brace you're going to need one now for sure. The side to side motion puts way more strain on the frame. Update on the next episode you can visually see that it has it already. 👍
That off-road map app has saved me in the woods multiple times! It's fantastic!
Awesome video Zack, loved the layout perfect mix of ranting and wrenching with those hilarious lil insert videos with the proper terminology. Fun and entertaining plus we call got too learn about that damn Cr clip on the rcv axles so your struggling wasn't totally in vain 😅 thanks boss keep up the good work and I'll keep liking and watching your videos.
Im glad my struggle has not been in vain.
@@MISTERZACHARY not at all my friend we are all learning right along side of you. That's the beauty of TH-cam
Stick with it Zach. We are all rooting for you!
Dude, I know your pain with these jobs! I had to do a rear wheel bearing on a tiny Suzuki Jimny, watched youtube videos, read guides, simply said cut the old one off and beat the new on with a scaffold pole. Yeah, that didn't work, three days, I ended up caving and sending it to the Suzuki dealer to get done there. Cost me a fortune and ended up with my other vehicle being impounded. Was a whole debacle!!!!
Love your content and editing (the eye rolling at yourself for not having the correct term on hand is perfect! LOL)! Keep it up dude!
Dang man. The struggle is too real
I'm half the size of Zac so I only work on cars half that size and only use hammers half that size BUT the swearing, missing parts and long days....relatable!
Zac Apparently The Word Of The Day Is "Relatable" haha 😆
Love your content
Love it, don't stop showing the will to succeed!
Really Enjoyed watching Valerie Vaughn brush her teeth.
#ifyouknowyouknow
Your videos always feel honest about the reality of working on cars and thus relatable. Can’t wait for part 2!
Man I feel you on the research thing! Just did a sump and timing cover on my SBC squarebody, got the wrong sump front seal not knowing the different sizes plus doing it in the dark and just had to re do everything. Easy jobs sometimes suck the most!
Someone get this man some more subs. Much love, Zach.
AMEN
Thursday mornings are so good.
Been there… felt like that… just keep moving forward! 💪🏼
You're the best Zach! I set time aside to enjoy your videos man thank you.
Much appreciate my man!
Laughing at how relatable Zachs reactions are to all the problems
Always entertaining
You do it like me get the BFH😎
As an hvac tech I promise you. It suck’s worse.
15 year HVAC/Refrigeration tech here, I agree 100% with this statement
Yup
"Should've just gone into HVAC..." I feel you.
Knowing everything especially the name of parts, we know ur not going to know it by memory yet. Took me a bit too. Steering shafts I used to call them. Lol
Love this content Zach! Keep it up!
Absolutely agree with the rest of the comments here. Super relatable content, keept it up!🔥💪
13:35 Im in the same boat......electricians make good money and i know how to do that and same for HVAC when it comes to the electrical stuff ! I'm a broke 20 year old due to buying too many parts......i cant be broke and need a better job so either being an electrician...OR get my GED and study for 2 years to be an Aviation mechanic for like American airlines or whoever is hiring......idk 🙃🙃
Also seems like your having a ball with that axle 😆 A dana 60 might be a great option but that D44 is lighter ! and it seems to handle what you throw at it definitely gives me hope to HP44 swap my jeep Lj (i already have the axle from a 78' ford) I think the hubs on a 44 might be the same as a D60 but i may be wrong.....if anything you could use some "SOLID" or "Yukon" solid drive slugs which will have that axle live fulltime when your driving. I think you talked about keeping the lockouts a while ago but i cant remember!
But maybe once you really get into those rocks and running bigger tires and more HP for some reason 😆😆a D60 might be needed since you can run big o'le hubs on those i think and ofcourse the bigger Tubes on the axle would help with strength and so on and so fourth!
I feel your pain. I rebuilt the Dana 44 on my K5 recently and turned into a lot more work than I expected.
Keep at it brother, the knowledge you're gaining will be of great benefit at some point.
Always approach these projects as you're going to get completed f$cked at some point, and if you don't, f$cking awesome.. it gets easier after many, many, many, many, projects.... maybe
Dude, your channel is turning out great
Zac's realizing why I shifted to IT - even though I still run into alot of similar issues as I did as a Auto Tech lol (mainly loose nuts between the chair and wheel/keyboard)
The joys of modified stuff 😊
I’m looking forward to pt 2
Keep at it bro!! Blazer stuff is my favorite
Nice seeing a real struggle U GOT THIS Bo 💪🏿💪🏾💪🏽💪🏻💪
🤘😬🤘
🍻
Built tuff Zack 💪😄 the things are built tuff my guy 😔
I had RCV shafts in my dana 44 also. They were great. I clearanced the back side of the knuckle for more angle to get them in and out; also cutting the lower ball joint stud off flush with the nut helps. Once I figure out the combination for getting them in and out; it 5 minuets to get the joint apart.
On the second episode of this You'll see just how much material had to come off of that reid Knuckle before it could be installed. Its insane.
Lol you crack me up Zac I love ure shenanigans keep it up ❤😂
I like the cut to commentary of Zach chirping himself after the fact.
Schizo manic paranoia off road rig building TH-cam is my new fav version of TH-cam. Thank you.
"Tie rod, its a tie rod..." 😂😂
ZACH! Look in to West Texas Offroad Ram Assist, best decision i ever made. Night and day driving difference
Live and learn, Zac.
Live and learn. 🙃
oh yes. very relatable.
DANA 60 front is a requirement along a 14 bolt rear and 4.56 gears. Love Azusa. Spent many hot ass days watching people break stuff. All that and a really good snatch rope.
Lady's first on da SMACKING...GOOD TIMES
Zack buddy no no we all want to see the after hours party 🎉🎉you skipped too the next day
On a truck I sold to a neighbor I offered to change the thermostat and oil before it leaves. Broke off a tstat housing bolt. Also hardest oil filter I've ever removed.
My man,..nice fuckn shirt...and I love da REnucklen...💪ALLGOOD
I feel your pain man. I feel like every job I do ends up like this
You've learned now why folks tend to run an orbital valve and double ended hydraulic ram for the front steering setup.
Slap a super duty front end under that with the stock super duty suspension. Will make that thing ride caddy and be way stronger
Finally realised who you remind me of! Bloody Dr cox from scrubs 😂 love you bro
What a realistic video holy shit finally the suffering is shown everyone always posts the rainbows and sunshine of cars lol
Amen
Alwyas good video's.
Oh the joys of getting all the stuff for brakes then finding out the old brake lines don't reach..
Bro this is the best series title possible hahahaha
Thanks man. Im glad the struggle was entertaining. Just wait till the next episode where it gets worse. LOL
Could have asked… been there ! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
My pride is my biggest enemy.
Damn those floors are hot
Zachary nice ZZ Top Shirt you dont see them anymore
Killer shirt! 😜
Love the last comment but man hvac is tough as shit too
robby is such a cool dude
I'm sure everyone's already suggested this, But Yukon hubs are the s***, Definitely think you should try. They're expensive, but they don't break.
Tire shine gang
I'm seeing a definitely lack of pickle forks in this video
but , but, ...HAMMER SMASH
When going into aircraft maintenance, a long time aircraft mechanic told me "quit now and go into HVAC."
Dude! Cold chisel = safety glasses!! Those muthas can splinter.
Hell nah man. Keep going. I fought with my ex wifes car on what was supposed to be an easy job for like two weeks before! Lol everyone has been there.
We forgive you for having brain fade when you’re on day 3 of a 25 minute install bro 😂👌🏽
LOL
I was waiting for you to just cut off the ball joint.
If your replacing ball joints anyway, just cut the ball joint stud off and pull it off without disassembling the entire axle.
I considered it, but I still needed to disassemble the axle to get the new knuckle on (which you'll see in the next episode...this whole cluster F*%& of an install gets way worse)
And its easier to get leverage prying against the knuckle .
officaly new favorite channal hole ep doning 1 thing
