Fans often forget how influential the Ultimate universe was on the movies. When people complain how some character costumes or personalities don't match their 616 counterpart but they closely resemble the Ultimate versions since as you said it was the popular version at the time. Heck, my first comic was Ultimate Spider-Man and you can find many things in it that was later adapted in future movies.
To this day you can see the Ultimate Universe influences across Marvel content not just the movies but also the games since the Insomniac Spider-Man game is using Venom’s origin from the Ultimate comics for Harry’s transformation into Venom (which is oddly similar to the animated show)
I remember seeing the concept arts and storyboards had Ant Man and Wasp surrounding the characters when the camera spun around the heroes near the finale. I believe this was when they wanted to also tie The Amazing Spider-Man into their movie with the Oscorp tower in the background but the design of the tower wasn't finalized. Had it been finalized and made into the film, we probably would've seen Andrew Garfield in the MCU sooner.
Very interesting video, Erod! As much I love the Avengers film and the way it uses both Natasha and Clint, as comic book fan I admit I miss a little the presence of Hank Pym and Wasp. Don't get me wrong, I like the Ant Man films, Paul Rudd is awesome as Scott Lang but both Hank and Janet are important founding members of the Avengers in the comics (Wasp was the one who gave the team their name). I could see the couple working well in trilogy, specially if they took inspiration from Avengers EMH, with Hank being more pacifist scientist who has to learn from Janet to see the importance of using strenght to protect others and Wasp being this joyfull girl who loves being hero who learns from Hank to not be too naive and reckless, to think before acting.
On a side note, what are your thoughts on James Gunn taking over the DCU? In my view, it could be a hell of a lot better than Zack Snyder’s treatment of the DCEU
To put it in Comic terms it's like hiring someone who's really great at splash cover art and an okay fill-in artist and telling him to write and draw a whole book by himself. The big eye catches are great but a story is 90% everything else so it feels hollow. Zack does big scenes but he doesn't do people or interaction so no one feels right.
I say it is his fault just me I mean I'd like a legend of Fandom,but hey I'll get what I can get it's not like it's been months of no block buster buster episodes or Fandom but at least we been getting honest reviews
I don’t know about you, but the Wasp in this version of the script sounds like EMH Wasp. Who’s awful. So I’m glad Wasp was cut out of the Avengers and Janet’s superhero identity was given to her daughter from the MC2 Print in the MCU instead.
