Steven, I truly appreciate your diagnostic procedure and willingness to remove a part you installed if the original is still good. Most technicians will sell both parts to the customer. Technicians like you are few and far between. Thank you for all your posts.
Thanks for the videos. Helped me as a homeowner to get my Bock water heater running. Replaced the control which was 9 years old…funny how they look new and working. Commenting here but watched several of your videos in my quest to fix. Many thanks!
Thanks Steve. Unit looking a little crusty. Side Note: I can usually snake out most lines at work but occasionally I have to call my sewer guy. Today my snake was like hitting cement. Call in sewer guy. I work at a police/jail dept and I knew a prisoner flushed something substantial down. We walk into pod area and I said, smells like cat piss in here ya'll. He looks at me and says there a guy on youtube who says that. I said Steve Lav! Yeah! him! Good for a laugh. Ended up pulling out a towel that made it about 20 feet down the line and hung up inside a 90 elbow. Pulled out a doritos bag also.
Thats exactly what I was thinking when I seen that drip of water come down in the video when he was putting the transformer back on after changing the cad cell. That would definitely do it. Them controllers do not like water at all.
I just have seeing a few videos of yours and in a rate of 85% are from HELL. I'm a contractor myself (retired after 40 years of "hell") I have a few questions: where are you graduated from?. . . If you hate so much your job, why you don't quit? EVERY LITTLE FIXING JOB IS A CHALLENGE (I now it for experience)!!!!!! But it is your commitment. . . . Do not be such a DRAMA QUEEN for an extra penny, and be more honest and happier, pal!
If you have to change another controller within a year then they could be having issues with their electrical service. My friend had his changed 3 times in 2 years and the third time I asked him if he had other electronics in his house failing, he told me his TV had to be replaced and the power supply in his computer had also failed. He had an electrician check his electrical service and it turned out that water was leaking into his electrical box causing corrosion at the neutral lug which was causing intermittent connections and surges.
Had one date coded from the early 90’s on my boiler, till it quit last year. It was one of the older all metal ones with the removable cover. I’m sure it was probably the exception to the average lifespan of these.

He gets dirty while our hands stay clean.
Sucks explaining it to customers. Hopefully customer was understanding. Thanks for the upload. Good tips on troubleshooting and bypassing.
There's no guarantee with new parts, every now and then you come across a bad one. Good job Troubleshooting the issue
Hey Steve new follower love you channel watch your videos over and over learn something new everyday keep up the good work
You are doing great work here friend, thank you so much.

Did you eat the doritos?
@@ronanlough3868 Not even the dumbest prisoner would flush a full bag of doritos. In jail that is almost as good as having a bag of gold.
Man it’s crazy how much you know about everything
Thanks for all the videos! Is there a way to test the cad cell with a meter, or is changeout the only way. Thanks again.
Steve, your long time experience shows in your diagnostic ability!
I don't know what It is, but I find these videos highly entertaining..
Please tell me I am not the only oddball on this. Lol
Molly looks so stylish when she stands up with her jacket on.
this video saved me bigtime
Wonder if the protector relay died early from water dripping into it. That system’s a leaker!
Thats exactly what I was thinking when I seen that drip of water come down in the video when he was putting the transformer back on after changing the cad cell. That would definitely do it. Them controllers do not like water at all.
Yep it needs some Gundy in it!
Water dripping from above? Maybe shorted it out.
Thx Steve.
Just replaced my Honeywell R8184 4009.......again. This one only lasted 1 year. I thing these units have a PROBLEM!
John Kosick funny I just said the exact same comment. It’s ridiculous. I always keep a spare in my basement.
I'm running a blk chinese one from Amazon. 45ish$. So far so good.
Steve and Miss Molly to the rescue!!!! She's a leaker Mamma! That system is job security!

I found the same happened with a loose power cable from the thermostat
Molly’s got her “ biker” jacket on 😂
Draft damper with a power vent?
That puppy dog likes lots of rubbins!
Miss Molly's a biker chick and a truck driver. Steve I love Molly's new leather jacket. Peace brother and Molly
What is the average life expectancy of a protector relay
hard to say .i would say 10 years

In today world, 30 days or 30 steps on all warranties, whatever comes first!
parts lasting 9 months?
I have been watching for about a year I do remember the power vent video
Those Honeywell controllers don’t last more than a couple of years on my boiler. Not quite sure why, but they are usually the issue.
Do you have any issues with other electronics or appliances in your house ?
No more "How a real working man cook series?"
How come those controlaz are shitting the bed so fast?
My co-worker and I today, we were replaced one bad control ^_^
Nice 👍 Peace ✌️
She loves driving, I know she loves driving. lol
The new parts today are no guarantee.
Molly rockin the Judas Preist
Honeywell controls ain’t made like they used to be. And to think, they make avionics for jets!
why you wear gloves again ?
Should've left the new cad cell in.
Look how rusty the mc cable is, that sucker must be getting wet
Steve is having a bad run on parts this past week...
Chuck Quinn how comes it’s all Honeywell parts going bad
The date code sticker shows 1742, year 2017 it was made. Everything made nowadays is junk.
A woman without heat is not to be taken lightly. Your phone will be on fire
