JRR TOLKIEN is significantly better writer and story mythology of Arada is actually better than any story including WH40K. Will it doesn't have the same quantity but it has decent of it (considering it has only one writer) and much more quality and no bs writing. It is perfection. As a fan of both.

Basically: It's true that there is a direct WH40K equivalent of lightsabers in the Sollex-Aegis energy blades. However, the latter are far more primitive than those seen in Star Wars. They usually require external energy packs (akin to SW protosabers), run out of energy fast, are obnoxiously loud and fairly unreliable in the same way other plasma weapons are. It's more or less the difference between a neolithic stone axe and a 14th century horseman's steel battleaxe - they may look similar and both do the same thing, but one is _a lot_ better than the other. I find this kinda fascinating since - as always - the Mechanicum doesn't fully understand the technology (which was derived from an STC fragment, IIRC), meaning humans in the Dark Age of Technology may have been walking around with _legit_ lightsabers.

Every so often a relic one pops up in the lore, and I think an ancient sith Warlord who uses one even got brought back to life in one of the books.

Or how the Orks decided to have a little civil war on a human planet in the Reef Stars in order to decide who would have the honor to return a relic because the Dark Eldar stole said relic, a massive jawbone, and tricked the Orks into thinking that the humans had it, then the Space Marines cloned the remaining bits, waved them in front of the Orks, and lead them to some Dark Eldar planet instead. 40k lore is fun :)
Yeah, i read some Imperial Fists novels and they're fucking weird. Like, dude catches head of his brother, ripped off by zoath, KISSES it and throws it back. All of this happens while the last drops of consciousness leaving fallen Astartes. If you want more 40k "lightsaber" info, check the novel Soul Drinker by Ben Counter. The Soul Drinkers chapter have an artifact weapon called the Soulspear, a handle that generates two blacker-than-night/space energy blades that are actually Vortex rifts, and due to this they can cut anything.....ANY-THAAAAAANG!!!!!!! BTW, read the book, or hell, the whole book series. It'd give you some interesting source material for a chapter of Astartes that actually tried to free themselves from the Imperium, but not join Chaos, and their story is a good one, but sad one in the end.....

Should've mentioned the Imperium essentially has 2 fully functional STC's. One is being actively hidden and the other is just in a ship that the mechanics hasn't realized that it's there.
The Imperium has THOUSANDS of STCs ... STCs are what they use to create everything from Spaceships to Cybernetic implants. They consider anything not made according to an STC a heresy.

Next time you should mention that one of the initiation rites of the Imperial Fists is to eat their brothers' poop. Or how the Orks decided to have a little civil war on a human planet in the Reef Stars in order to decide who would have the honor to return a relic because the Dark Eldar stole said relic, a massive jawbone, and tricked the Orks into thinking that the humans had it, then the Space Marines cloned the remaining bits, waved them in front of the Orks, and lead them to some Dark Eldar planet instead. 40k lore is fun :)
Yeah, i read some Imperial Fists novels and they're fucking weird. Like, dude catches head of his brother, ripped off by zoath, KISSES it and throws it back. All of this happens while the last drops of consciousness leaving fallen Astartes. Or their scouts being tested by the obstacle course with extreme gravity and temperature to get tattoo on their butt as a reward
@@argeltal_thewordbearer The Imperial Fists seem like a chapter that kisses the homies good night without saying "no homo". Was bit of lore that from the "Space Marine" novel? Sounds like something they'd put in there. Been a long time since I read it and don't remember too much but it was wild and I 100% recommend it for the weirdness in it, it shows the Imperial Fist for what they really are.

If you want more 40k "lightsaber" info, check the novel Soul Drinker by Ben Counter. The Soul Drinkers chapter have an artifact weapon called the Soulspear, a handle that generates two blacker-than-night/space energy blades that are actually Vortex rifts, and due to this they can cut anything.....ANY-THAAAAAANG!!!!!!! BTW, read the book, or hell, the whole book series. It'd give you some interesting source material for a chapter of Astartes that actually tried to free themselves from the Imperium, but not join Chaos, and their story is a good one, but sad one in the end.....

I love some of the old white dwarf stories, the aeon or apex twins i can't remember this is a solid 15 years ago, 2 alpha class psykers who were on a black ship, they go into the ship to find it just cored, everyone is dead and the two girls are missing, psykers so powerful they could do anything. Many of the random stories you've spoke of i DID have some ideas, and honestly a few i had none and i've read thousands of damned books... So please moar! Should've mentioned the Imperium essentially has 2 fully functional STC's. One is being actively hidden and the other is just in a ship that the mechanics hasn't realized that it's there.
The Imperium has THOUSANDS of STCs ... STCs are what they use to create everything from Spaceships to Cybernetic implants. They consider anything not made according to an STC a heresy.

Man….Majorkill pointing out some accurate starwars lore here. A lightsaber is about more than just having a super hot sword that can cut through anything. It’s an metaphysical extension of its welder and the force. It’s literally a situation of where you don’t pick your kyber crystal, it picks you. As such you could give Captain Titus a lightsaber, but it wouldn’t be half as effective as it would be in the hands of Anakin Skywalker.
Now to avoid this debate, I’m not necessarily saying that Anakin would beat Titus in a duel, I’m saying that the lightsaber is more useful to Anakin than it is to Titus. That. Is. All.
